I don’t know if somebody already posted this but i think would be nice to have also textures when choosing equipment dyes. Something like “Rock Texture”, “Oak Texture”, “Leather Texture”, “Carbon Fiber Texture” or even “Chrome Texture” with a mirror effect…
See ya!
There is already leather texture if I recall correctly, but I would welcome more textures.
Also make the weapons dyeable.
Release a new expansion focused on the human god Abbadon describing how the elder dragons and literally everything that has happened in lore was part of his plan. Also, Kormir will always follow you around and body block you at all times while being just generally unhelpful. When you finally get to attacking Abbadon, have the fight just be attacking a wall.
Open Cantha but make it an underwater map. That’ll show those fanboys
Actually, serious idea here, open Cantha and have the Jade Sea be mostly underwater content.
- “Cat Ears” headwear.
- /meow voiced emote, complete with maneki-neko “lucky cat” hand gesture
- Super Adventure Box made permanent, with occasional new worlds added, as well as a SAB-themed fractal
- Warriors nerfed into oblivion. Rangers become the new meta in every game mode.
- All Legendary weapons permanently deleted from game.
- All loading screens display the message: “No, there will never be mounts or GvG. Not now, not ever.”
- LFG system for dungeons is scrapped, in favour of purely randomized match-ups. No “level 80 berzerker only” nonsense tolerated. Kicking a player out of the group requires 4/5 members to approve, barring a few exceptions.
Hey, my GW1 Mesmer wore cat ears as part of her normal armor. I think that was the only holiday item I’ve ever put on a character.
Nothing actually says that Kralkatorrik and Joko’s forces are fighting. The lore said that Zhaitan’s forces were skirmishing on the northern Elonian border – not Kralkatorrik’s.
Yes, my mistake.
It’s not on my screen, but it is night out.
PLEASE FIX THE PERSONAL STORY
Why remove the “Greatest Fear” storyline?
Why mix up the order when it makes no sense?
Also, please change traits back to the way they were.
there was a huge deal awhile ago i got all 4 games.. i was going to play them in order but i think i’m going to farm hall of monuments points first ‘sigh’
ironically i don’t think gw2 is a very wholesome environment, i’ve resigned myself to as much single player-able content as possible.. so maybe gw1 will be a good break from it
A good way to start HoM Achievements is to play the games in order and complete every mission 100%, then go back and do it in Hard Mode.
If your ranger can wear light armor, I DEMAND that I can put a Rifle skin on each sword that I carry as a Mesmer! It’s like totally lore-friendly and completely the same weight! It’s just a skin guys! With the new common models it’s not like anyone will be thrown off by a dual-rifle wielding mesmer! They can totally tell what’s going on by my spells!
Profession is what it was called in the first Guild Wars. So, some people still call classes “professions” even though in GW2 profession is the in-game terminology to describe crafting trades.
This is wrong.
A Mesmer is a profession.
A Chef is a discipline.
Can you elaborate please?
You forgot to include all the hours in PvP.
Nope, it’s in the hairstyle’s/makeover kits. One of my favorites across all races I must say.
That is very disappointing; I really love your character.
Can I have her?
The pic is a bit outdated now, changed the yellow to be more orangeish to match Verdant weapons, recolored the shoulderpads to be orangeish. While she isn’t completely skimped out, I went for that “In your face!” punk look on my Sylvari Ranger.
While the cultural jacket does have a bit of a tail, I wouldn’t classify it as a trenchcoat.
Is that a stock hair choice?
Yet another area where GW1 did it better. Instead of dividing professions into light, medium and heavy, each profession had unique armour sets. The GW2 system doesn’t allow for such nuances.
Interestingly, the latest TP patch showed classification of armour by class
instead of just Heavy, Medium, Light.Could this mean that there WILL be class specific armours down the line? Maybe?
Armor is already separated by class. There are three armor classes and eight professions. Please use the correct terminology when talking about things in the game or no one will know what you’re talking about.
What next? Take my portals away?
I like Sieran more.
There’s no armor diversity for any of the armor classes. GW1 had unique looking armor sets for each profession. Armor that was made non-specific so as to work for any of three professions just comes out looking bland.
That doesn’t make sense. You can have themed armor but make it available through the armor class.
I’ve never understood by some people desperately want profession exclusive armor. Why would you want to limit your choices ? For the sake of “exclusivity ?” …
I don’t think he’s saying they should have made profession-exclusive armor. I think he’s saying that more sets should have been designed with a specific profession in mind, as opposed to trying to generically fit every profession umbrella’d under an armor class.
Ideally, I would want the same system as GW1 where each profession could only wear their own armors, but if they wanted to open it to each armor class that’s okay.
I really just want the old style of armors that had the profession’s feel to them. I really miss the style of the old necromancer armors in particular. There’s nothing like it in GW2, except the ONE skin that they remade and sold in the gem store (though I should be surprised that they brought over any skins at all really).
I really hate when people call their character a “toon”. Also when they call their profession a “class”.
Please use the correct terminology when you play the game.
Actually, Dry Top is where Ettin’s Back and Aurora Glade are already. So the next area is north of there. Mamnoon Lagoon. Ironically if you chart Dry Top from GW1, the actual “Dry Top” area from GW1 is not accessible yet. It’s south of the leyline cave.
You can just look at the big circle on the map to see where Dry Top really is.
I was going to say that it was made for the China release, but now it’s likely that you’ll probably get it when Anet releases GW2 VIP for NA/EU.
There will not be any Dervish, because that is unique to Elona. Also, they are “professions”. “Class” determines what armor you use.

The Manifesto is currently presented by Anet on the GW2 main website. Today, not jsut four years ago. This makes it a current point of reference, not some outdated and no longer applicable years old irrelevant data.
As long as Anet chooses to offer it up as current and official it is perfectly reasonable for players to reference it.
Sure, as long as players remember “we don’t make grindy games” came after things like the “Lucky” title track . . . the Gamer title track . . . Grandmaster Cartographer . . .
;)
Other than some of the titles, there was nothing else grindy at all.
I wouldn’t call Cartographer grindy at all either. You’re not doing anything over and again; once you explore the area you don’t need to come back. Don’t confuse “grindy” and “difficult” on that title. Maybe you just don’t like exploring and running at walls.
Those skins are only available to the commando profession.
Thanks, I guess I should have looked first.
While this may be a helpful guide for new players, experienced players do not need this and it adds to the clutter.
The worst part of this compass comes in that it never goes away. I am playing my 100% Map Completion character and it’s always there saying “Complete Nearby Events”.
Yeah I get it, complete nearby events, complete nearby events, complete nearby events, etc.
Just give us an option to disable it please.
A dancing (maybe not singing) elder dragon would be possible, much like they did with Abbadon’s easter egg.
Some Renown hearts have become quite the core to do since bundles became deactivated in lower level zones.
It is for example impossible to pick up the mines in Assist the Blood Legion on the Diessa Plateau making said renown heart incredibly longwinded because of the few enemies that spawn and the comparatively long distance you have to carry the metal bars.
Which oddly enough can be picked up and they constitute a bundle as well I believe. I guess there are similar problems with other renown hearts that rely on bundles as well.So rethinking/reworking/bug-fixing that particular little feature would be much appreciated.
They left the metal bars in but removed the cow feed? “Take the metal bars to the scrap metal bin” is the exact same thing as “Take the cow feed to the hungry cows”.
That’s unfortunate, narwhalsbend!
I was toying around with a 4/6/0/4/0 build and enjoyed the healing output. It was kind of a toss up between nabbing the chance at stun versus the AoE healing. I liked healing half the time, I liked the stun half the time.I’ll try again a bit tonight, but “very difficult to pull off” is how I’m feeling so far. There’s a lot of rapid clicking/button pressing when using the mantras. Cycling my normal DPS skills along with balancing charges/recharging is an awful lot of complexity when the elementalist next to me just drops a Lava Font and a static field and has about the same impact on the battle.
Yeah I know, and in regard to the traits, it’s really a toss up between 6/4/0/4/0 for increased overall damage or 4/6/0/4/0 for another activation on each mantra. Either way, it felt like jumping through a lot of hoops for little reward.
I heard reports that some juvies were removed in Queensdale as well.
I did some tinkering. With “Restorative Mantras” and “Mantra Mastery”, you can AoE heal about 11k every 8 seconds, or heal yourself about 17k every 11 seconds. Combined with “Mender’s Purity”, I was able to stand under constant AC fire for a prolonged amount of time and be just fine and remove 4 conditions every 10 seconds. All of this while dealing about 1.4k AoE damage every 5 seconds, not to mention the AoE Daze and AoE Stability. Though spike builds could tear you apart fairly easily, you could probably stay alive against an auto attack from any veteran NPC.
To make this build somewhat practical, I did a 6/4/0/4/0 trait, with “Blade Training”, “Halting Strike”, “Greatsword Training”, and finally , “Empowering Mantras”. I used dual swords primarily. Mind Slash and iLeap will apply Vulnerability and some damage, while also leaving you free to shatter your clone for Diversion at any moment if you need a daze. The skill Counter Blade gives you another free daze every 12 seconds (assuming you’re not attacked at the correct time). The skill Blurred Frenzy (and occasionally iReposte) will provide you with the opportunity to do damage with no worries, as well as provide a good time to use your charged mantras. Disregarding the amount of Vulnerability that your attacks have done, just one Daze will be enough to apply 7s stack of 3 Vuln if you interrupt and 11.25s stack of 5 Vuln for each daze. All the while, you are doing 16% more damage, and an additional 5% if they are not using a skill, which is very possible due to all the Daze going around. If you have the right luck, you could possibly maintain a stack of 15 Vuln. You could potentially shut down your target, if it were not that mantras take 2.75s to cast, and you only have access to 3 short timed dazes where they cannot use skills. Since this is not possible, the healing you get from channeling them partially will make up for it.
What I described above is very difficult to pull off and subject to being worthless when faced by any half decent player in WvW or PvP. There were other combinations of traits such as using “Harmonious Mantras”, but for that you would have to sacrifice either your healing or your damage increase. All in all, I have not found a good way to make a Mantra Mesmer and they will forever be a utility.
(edited by narwhalsbend.7059)
I wanted to try making some builds for a Mantra Support Mesmer, but the lack of templates makes it annoying to go back to what I have now.
With these writers, anything is possible.
Their job description is changing the established lore to make elder dragons exist.
What is a “raid” anyway?
Maybe not something with an direct economic effect, but a buff?
A short Magic Find boost?
Traveling buff?
…doesn’t the game give those when you volunteer to switch maps now? :P
It gives it to you when you voluntarily leave a low-population map.
I doubt GW2 will be FTP like SWTOR.
SWTOR failed because they tried to survive on box sales and subscription only.
They panicked and came up with their free to play model on the fly. GW2 was developed with the current model in mind and was developed quite well around it.
The VIP would only be an optional subscription model which offered additional benefits you would usually find in the cash shop.
My guess is that everything listed in the VIP bundle will also be sold separately in the cash shop, but the benefit for being VIP is that you save more gems and after 12 months of being a VIP you gain a precursor (which may not have the same value once we start crafting precursors).
I still don’t like the idea, like you said, the system works, you buy what you want if and when you want (disregarding temp stuff obviously) would you save gems? Probably, but would you really? You’re getting stuff you don’t mind but at the same time you’d never buy separately.
It’s the same thing with phone contracts, mine doesn’t have a subscription/mandatory fee which means the calls are more expensive, but I spend 4 times less in a year window.
For me these kind of tactics just feel dishonest, and then you have the precursor…Before anything, an item to have any value in an MMO has to be rare, that means MOST people can’t have it.
Precursor crafting is said to be on the works for over a year, I think it will never come, that means this VIP system would be the only sure way for one, need I say more? And I don’t even care about legendary weapons, I got a precursor dropped from Jormag that I could use in 2 chats and I just sold the thing, they just look silly, the ultimate prove people don’t mind looking like fabulous clowns just to get some sense of entitlement.
By the way, a much better way for a sure precursor would be 500 laurels, just saying Anet, quick and simple.
If a prescursor costed 500 laurels, people wouldn’t be pushed to spend money on gems to convert to gold, so Anet will never do that.
I had a level 79 character waiting to level to 80 after the patch.
The reward is one Obsidian Shard.
EDIT: Oh, you mean AFTER we’re already level 80. Well that would be nice too.
The game hates you. That’s all.
Don’t have access to the game at the moment, but I’m sure it looks familiar. Is that the bandit fort in Brisban Wildlands, or the desert gate near Ebonhawke?
The Crystal Desert is currently inaccessible (lore-wise) because the dragon Kralkatorrik is fighting against Palawa Joko’s undead in that region. Presumably the Forgotten are there too, as they’ve been strangely absent with all this zephyrite and Glint business going on.
Mordremoth has nothing to do with that area.
So…Asia and Africa are specific cultural themes, while Europe/Murica is universal? What kind of EGO is that?
I know right? I can’t imagine the ego that a Korean company like NCSoft must have to limit a company from expanding past the borders of their first game.
I have traveler runes on my mesmer. Either waste a skill or waste your rune slots.
I absolutely cannot wait for something like this to be put in game (and come on, you know theyre going to sooner or later). The amount of tears from people who still have no idea that running a mmo costs money (who wouldnt want to work a full time job without getting a salary to make people on the internet happy!) would be priceless.
Except that they did this model better without a gem store for the past ten years in GW1.
Nice try though.
That could help drive down the overpriced T6 mats for those of us vets that are working on legendaries (plus those who haven’t built 1 yet).
If they did this, people would buy less gems to convert to gold, so this will never happen.
I preferred Elona actually because it was completely unique
There are still no games that have african themes done to that quality and depth
Sadly, I don’t think you will find any quality nor any depth coming out of Anet anymore.
I had to tell off someone in WvW who had it on for no reason and was using map chat while I was standing right next to him while talking to him.
First Guild Wars:
Whole Tyria in first game GW Prophecies, 2 years later we got new continent with campain, 2 new proffesions, new weapons, and pvp type in Guild Wars Factions.
1 years after Factions came out. We got new continent + 2 new proffesions, weapons, armors, “elite dungeon like UW” type in GW Nightfall. 2-3 years after Prophecies, we got maps on the top of the map in EOTN with new campain, achivs and big maps to explore. Guild Wars 2: after 2 years we got 4 small maps for pve, one big map for WvW few armors and weapons and maybe VIP stuff that onyly rich guys can afford becouse for cost of this VIP status(1600gems he said) I can easly buy new game in my country.
GG!
Anet went full lazy mode lately, just like all other gaming companies.Sorry for bad english.
Don’t forget all of GW:B that they gave us without paying anything.
…
They removed the one part of the entire personal story where your choice, the player choice, about something as personal as the character’s greatest fear, could actually lead to a somewhat cathartic and definetly character-developing story-arc…?
I have nothing. Im at a loss of words.
Feelings and emotions were too confusing and overwhelming for players. Now you can continue to coldly kill, kill, kill, kill, kill, kill, kill, kill, etc.
Possibly. There are probably a few references like that. There’s a reference to the 55 monk farming build around the area where Bergen Hotsprings used to be. There’s a tree with an “55M” carved into the side. At least, it’s most likely a reference, as it is in the right area and everything.
This I would like to see.
