recognize my command!”
I’m curious, whats a good FPS to target for this game? I know bigger is better, but with a limited machine, I know I can’t go full on best everything, without dropping into the single digits.
At lowest settings, I get up into the high 50s, low 60s.
I am planning on starting at highest and working my way down. But not sure what that “sweet spot” would be.
I don’t do WvW much, and when I do, I don’t do the zerg thing. I stick mainly to PvE, and some world bosses. (i.e Teq, VW, Breach, etc.)
Thanks!!
There is already a thread about this very same topic, with the very same arguments for and against. Please merge the threads.
Thanks!

Have a 6+ year old laptop that runs the game fine. Of course I can’t do high end graphics, but even on med/low settings it looks fantastic!
Its truly sad, but they wouldn’t be doing it still if players didn’t fall for it. How they do i don’t know. It does clearly say that its sent by another player and not by any ANET team so…. but just like in real life people do fall for it…
Yeah, some people right?
I’m still waiting to hear back from that Nigerian Prince though…Can’t believe he picked ME to give 10 million USD…I mean who does that!?
Any time you type /(letter or word), you convert your chat to that channel even if you just hit enter instead of typing something to say in it. So,
/s (or /say) — White text, locally visible
/e (or /em) — Grey text, visible a bit further than white text (lets you type custom emotes to describe RP action)
/m (or /map) — Red text, zone wide. Instances in a zone (such as the home instance) count as their own zones for this.
/g (or /guild) — Gold-brown text, guild chat, world-wide.
/t (or /team) — I don’t know the color, I don’t WvW enough or sPvP at all. Reaches everyone on your side of the battle in the zone.
/d (I think? or /squad) — Yellow text, I don’t know if it lasts outside zones but you get it by joining a Commander’s squad, up to … 50 players? … that can communicate in a sub-group in an areaIf I want to make sure not to accidentally spam map or whisper with hotkey commands (hey, it happens), I tend to hit /g-space-enter when I have a moment so anything I type after that goes to my guild. They’re most understanding.
Team chat is a bright red
Map chat is more of a dark red/brownish color
And Whispers/PM are a lavander/purple color.
Mr. Smith
Would you be able to clarify some of the items on the TP?
For example, there is a rare rifle, “Rifle” that has 0 supply, and a15g sell order and a 1g buy offer.
I also remember seeing a green ring, “Ring” going for 43g.
Are these items left over from betas?
They don’t seem to be in-game and it seems a bit odd to have a sell offer for 15g…
(Of course I understand that the prices are set by the players)
Just curious…
Thanks!
Was a bit surprised to see these prices today, but as “manipulated TP for gold transfer” they would make sense.
How would that work though, since no one knows who is buying or selling.
Thats easy i purchase all the “pink fluffy rainbows” on pc where i am locked in on main account and then sell 1 for 3256 gold 21 silver 52 copper, the exact amount that the hacked account have after i have sold all they own, then i purchase the “pink fluffy rainbow”. and viola, gold transfered.
can be done in a sec if locked into both accounts with 2 pc´s next to each other.I think it would be more useful to know the history on the trading post of those items. Since that’s a picture with the items labeled in German that’s impossible for me to figure out. For all we know, those items have always been that high. Perhaps you can find and post a link to one of those item’s history in spidy?
http://www.gw2spidy.com/search/rifle/18?rarity_filter=-1&sort_name=asc
Where the list. There is some demand, but almost no supply.
And here is the graph
http://www.gw2spidy.com/item/37503
Would you put a green item in for 40g? I would not pay 2g to put such an item in for such a ridiculous price. But maybe I miss something.
I’ve wondered about that as well. The only thing I can think of, is that said green items are SUPER rare. I have yet to see a single named green item. I’ve seen rare and exotic named items, and those with some frequency. But never a green named item.
It also possible that such items are from the first betas. But after that were replaced with generic versions. Which would mean they are more rare than precursors and not in the loot tables anymore. Which could explain the high prices.
I’ve never had more than a 72 hour wait for any ticket I’ve submitted. Tech support/account issues (GW1 and 2)/or legal concerns about a project.
There has also been some issues with some email domains/clients not getting emails.

Also remember submitting multiple tickets about the same thing doesn’t speed up the process, it slows it down.
Good luck!
Have you changed/updated your drivers recently?
The only thing I can think of it’s its either a card thats going bad, or bad drivers.Check out http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us to download and install the latest drivers for your card.
If that doesn’t work, try to find an earlier version that did work and use those.
Let us know how it works out.Yeah, I did a clean install but that didn’t help very much. I’ll try older drivers but this is going to be b***h in the near future.
Also, this is only happening with Guild Wars so I don’t think my video card is going bad. It isn’t even a year old… not even half a year…
Also, I didn’t have these problems with Guild Wars 1… Only with 2…

Also check out this post, there might be some useful information there. If all else fails, submit a ticket.

One thing, I wouldn’t use the the buy gold competitive edge argument. Many but lots of gold legally from the TP with real money (gems) and gold to gem exchange.
I don’t think you really understand what a competitive advantage is.
Gold sellers tend to be cheaper then buying gold trough gems the legit way. So you get more gold per dollar/euro/ruble spent.
Edit a 2014 graph of black market exchange rates and official ones:
https://www.gw2tp.com/blackmarket This is my favorite TP site.I realize that gold sellers are cheaper, however
A competitive advantage is getting whatever stuff regardless of the exchange rate/cost, be it in game stuff or hardware. You can do it legally or not. It depends on your honesty and morals 1st. Your wallet second. The issue is ANET loses money because of gold sellers and is going to do something about it.
I am not so sure about sellers being cheaper.
Checked out a couple of sites (I won’t link them)
The prices (In USD) for 100g was $11.00 , $11.63, $13.75, $12.46, $10.30.
With the current exchange rates (according to GW2 Spidy) 1g is $0.11. Thats 100g for $11.00. 2 out of 5 sites either matched or beat that prices, but not so much that it’s a huge savings.
So it’s not only not cost effective in many cases, but is it worth the risk of getting banned and losing $60?
Okay – we looked at the hardware and it seems fine and is passing traffic fine so the next step is to do the experiment of moving this map (Blackgate Borderlands). There will be a couple of in-game announcements first.
Thank you for looking into this!! We all really do appreciate all the work you guys are doing into tracking this down and fixing it!!
Also it just occured to me. What if the issues that you’ve been seeing are a result of overheating servers. This would certainly explain lag, high pings, and DCs. If the servers are running too hot, these types of things can certainly be expected.
Although I am sure that this was taken into account and looked into and dismissed summarily. But hey, sometimes its the stupid things that trip us up. When dealing with lag on my machine, that was the VERY last option I considered. Was able to cool it down significantly, and now no lag.
Just a thought.
release date
i cant find info if and when living story will return io know there wont be any til expansion but will it return or not
the ones op and others mentionedThe expansion is the continuation of the LS. And no they won’t give a release date until it’s close. Please see my above response. Thanks!
+from what i read its a continuation of the current ls story but is there going to be more and different LS is my question it hasn’t been stated as of yet. i like to know if LS is the story that leads up to expansions or is there going to be a possible fixing of lions arch LS or is it completely dead.
More than likely. The expansion will tie up the current story and set the stage for the next season. Which could very well go back to the LS realease schedule.
As for LA. It better be fixed in the expansion. There really isn’t any reason for it not to be.
It would also be neat to see the rebuilding of LA tied into guild halls somehow. But we won’t know anything until the tell us.and thats why i requested info on it. they havent said for sure and id prefer not to speculate
And again, you wont get any info until they either make an official announcement on the state of LA, either through a blog post about whats coming in the expansion, or keep it secret until the expansion launches and we are pleased to discovered that LA has been rebuilt.
Obsidian Sanctum exists for this reason, however it is limited to opposing servers.
I suppose you could try to work something out in EotM if you are on the same server and want to fight a particular guild.
But yes, GvG has been wanted for a long time, and is something they are introducing in the expansion.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/support/RMT-Purchases-Expect-them-to-be-Removed/first
The next step in stopping RMT.
Gold buyers are now being actioned with a renewed vigor. While it has always been against the rules, they are now taking more action.
So the 500g transfer limit cap, coupled with a ban, should at the very least cause players to rethink buying gold from gold sellers. The cap makes it more difficult for RMT to do business, and increases wait times for buyers, and now buyers will be actioned as well. Even if RMT moves to items, the transfer of an obscene amounts of items, or frequent transfers high priced items, those using their services still risk losing their accounts.
Do you think RNG would be on my side to get one of those in a chest? I opened 3 today and none of them had one. Should I just save up gold to go to gems to straight-up buy the Identity Repair Kit? How fast does gold come in at level 80?
Ty friends!
The only way to get RNGesus on your side is to burn 4 20 sided dice in a spinning roulette table at midnight during a full moon while chanting “RNGesus” for a length of time determined by adding the last 3 winning lottery numbers. This length of time is converted to minutes.
Seriously though. As others have said, RNG is not a reliable way to get anything. You’d be better off rolling a new character with the look that you want. Or spend real money on gems, convert to gold, and buy the permenant contract off the TP.
Good luck!
I’m curious what your search parameters are, when I put in chest I get stuff about exercise, which is interesting since I rarely do and don’t do searches about it.
yeah, I’m showing furniture….
Unless he did GW2 chest…and of course he would get a bunch of stuff about chests from guild wars 2….
so let me understand you scammed the system to save on TP costs that help stable the economy by lowering the overall gold in the economy but then are kittened when you get scammed using a unsecure system. you should get banned as well. your part of the problem if players like you never made these deals there never be any scams
None of this is “scamming the system”. If you think that gems > gold isn’t ruining the value of gold then you are greatly mistaken/misinformed/ignorant. The only scamming that could possibly be taking place here is the OP possibly being scammed by another player. The mail does exist for a reason, but there will always be those who abuse whatever systems are in place.
Going to the length to say that a “scam-ee” (so to speak) should be banned with the scammer is, to put it blunty, one of the stupidest ideas I’ve heard. Scammers and gold sellers will ALWAYS find a way to make money, no matter the efforts of the game developers.
Plus if one particular player gets scammed once, maybe they will have the wisdom to not get scammed again, and to warn others. However much gold/loot is lost, the lesson will finally be learned.
Yes, you may have those who are stupid enough to be scammed numerous times, but at that point it becomes their fault and their problem imho.
You might want to look a bit more into how the gem exchange works. Its been made clear that the gem exchange is a seperate entity, and isn’t reflective of the value of gold, nor is any indication of inflation/deflation. (which is what I am getting you were hinting at.)
@OP:
Thats not good. You can always submit a ticket, but your item won’t be returned, and what ever Anet decides to do the the one who scammed you is between them. They won’t inform you, or otherwise let you know what action they decided to take (if any).
This is why they strongly suggest against using mail to trade. Its not outright forbidden, however using the LFG to advertise most certainly is, it sets you up for things like this. And there isn’t much that they can do other than issue a warning/suspension/ban. But thats about it.
Chests of loot are a staple in any fantasy game.
Not only does it fit the theme of being a fantasy game, it also serves a mechanical and psychological purpose.
Mechanically it separates the “good” stuff from the mundane. Implying that the boss has hidden his treasures away in a safe location, and now that they have been defeating, the spoils are the players.
Psychologically its a big shiny reward. Having been indoctrinated into the world of fantasy, where chests are common, when we see a chest, something triggers in our brains that says: “OOOOO A chest! Must be something good!!” Although our experience has taught us differently, that the good loot/rewards are too few and far between, everytime we see a chest it triggers that response. It’s the same reason people buy/farm keys. Although we KNOW without a doubt that the chances of getting something worthwhile in a BLTC chest is beyond rare, we still do it, because “OOOOO A Chest! Must be something good!!”
They can still send you 3000 gold. It’s just you can only withdraw 500g a week in total from mail or a guild bank. Any leftover in the mail stays there until it’s all depleted.
Of course. But recieving 3000g from a seller means it will take 6 weeks to get your funds. Or you could make multiple transactions for smaller amounts. Either way it makes it extremely inconvenient for those buying, which leads to not wanting to deal with the hassle, which means less business for Gold Sellers.
That is not true, it won’t curtail anything. It will as I said just turn the transfer into items instead of gold.
And once again, how is this stopping people from getting their account stolen?
I am also confused how you think that limiting the amount of gold a person can receive is going to stop somebody from SENDING everything on my account to another one.
This is nothing but a poorly planned and poorly implemented barrier that won’t change much of anything for the better but will hurt a minority of the players for the worst. I suppose you can be a selfish person and say it MIGHT help you and since it doesn’t hurt you it doesn’t matter. But I cannot be that selfish person who ignores the issues of others just because it isn’t an issue of mine.
Why won’t it curtail anything? Because gold/items can still be sent?
If a gold seller can only recieve a certain amount of gold a week, that means they can only do so much business in a week.
And again, with the TP, prices are not guaranteed. If I am trying to buy 3000g from a seller, but they send me the ectos instead, I can sell them at 33s 17c per ecto. However it would take ~9045 globs of ecto. Plus have a fee of 450g. So that means I need to sell them much slower, which takes much much longer to get what I paid for. And thats at current prices, and selling to the highest bidder. I can list them for a higher price, but that takes even longer, and has an increased cost.
So it seems to me that selling items is not very worth while, as it takes much more, and more of a potential loss in assets when buying items to sell. orders under 500g would still suffer the same effects, just scaled appropriately.
Did you seriously just come in here and define yourself as a 1% minority, then demand anyone care what happens to you in the new system?
You do not impact the community in a significant enough way to be considered.
So what you are saying is Anet should only care about certain members that play? And only certain people who pay real money?
And not care about the rest?
And AGAIN why include Guild Banks, that makes no sense.
Complain on. Statistically this affects a very minute amount of players. I don’t think Anet is going to change their stance anytime soon.
Then they are going to probably start losing people if they don’t like to listen to their customers. It’s the nature of the beast, since our stance isn’t going to change anytime soon. It’s not a good idea to screw over people who pay money, especially people who like the stuff in the gem store and people actual money. And they probably make loads of money on the gem store.
But which customers do they listen to? those that don’t like it, or those that do? If those that are OK with and support the change, and are buying gems, then who do they risk alienating? The majority, or minorty? At that point, it’s better to appease the majority and lose the minorty who probably aren’t very happy with the game anyway. More happy players brings in even more happy players, which is a win for anet.
But why do you like it? It has zero positive affect on you. But it negatively affects others. So basically you like it because it hurts other people? This isn’t going to change gold sellers. They’ll just transfer their gold in the form of something like ectos. And it isn’t going to increase account security because being mailed gold does not increase your accounts chance of being stolen.
I like it because it curtails the efforts of Gold Sellers. Sure they can and will find other methods, but it involves more than just sending items to be sold on the TP.
The account security lies in, if its harder for Gold Sellers to do their business, by the player either having to wait to get their ill gotten gains, or to have to sell a bunch of items on the TP, than they are less likely to use their services. Also if your account gets hacked (Which is generally done by Gold Sellers who steal your stuff and send it to a different account) having the limitation stops them from recieving all your goods at once. Which in turn leads to a greater chance of them being caught. Plus with the limitation of being able to recieve 500g a week, that also limits their buying power on the TP.
Prices on the TP aren’t static. If ectos become the new curency, what will happen to the prices? Will they go up, or drop? Either way, unless you are using non-TP able items, the prices are not going to remain stable enough to reliably use them as a currency.
I run fractals because I want certain rewards that can only be obtain from running fractals. (i.e. http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/20_Slot_Fractal_Exotic_Equipment_Box)
I find them entertaining, and the stories behind some of them are very intriguing.
There is a death penalty: each time you die, you have less health in subsequent downed states; die often enough in a short time and you will skip the downed state entirely. It used to cost coin to repair broken armor, but that really didn’t affect the meta; it just annoyed everyone equally.
On the whole, the biggest problem with the PvE meta is that the AI just isn’t smart enough for the current set of mechanics. Change that and everyone would find it more challenging.
I agree, there already is a decent penalty.
However, as far as more “challenging”. Thats very subject. Also, each time they changed certain encounters, or introduced new ones, to make them “more challenging” the public out cry was enormous. They changed The Spider Queen, and everyone lost their minds. It was “too hard” and how AC would now be out of the “Meta” and near impossible to do with a pug group. They revamped Teq, and it became “too hard” and “impossible”. People were clamoring about how hard and unfair it was. They introduced some new mechanics in Dry Top, the LS and Silverwastes. What did the players do? “It’s too hard!! It’s cheesy mechanics! It promotes zerging and it’s not fair!!”
I guess some people want “more challenging content” but when it’s introduced, the rage, QQ, and outcry against it is very loud indeed. So whats a company to do? Make stuff harder to appease those that want it harder, and ignore those who don’t? Or Don’t make it harder to appease those who want to afk spam 1 to win?

Is there anything that can be done? :’(
That sucks man.
You can always submit a ticket. Give all the information, exactly what you did, etc. They may be able to do something, they may not. Either way it wouldn’t hurt.
Good luck!
Also I am more inclined to think this is a glitch. If there was no confirmation, and there are no records of any sell listings that go that low (at least according to GW2 spidy). So send a ticket at see what they can do.
Good luck!
(edited by pdavis.8031)
The problem is, and this might very well be personal bias here, I think of gold buyers as complete idiots. They’re willing to risk losing their accounts (to hackers or bans), their credit rating, their RL banking accounts, their use of a stable and robust game economy, and for what? A tad more gold than they could get via legitimate gem purchases that actually help the game give them more content down the road?
I picture them going “hur hur hur, I am so smart, I can spend cash at a third party to win this game.” So I can’t really imagine them being savvy enough to comparison shop. The last gold whisper I got I took just a moment to check how much gold I’d get for that cash value in gems. By my quick math (possibly poorly done), a legit purchase got substantially more gold than I would have if I fell to the spammer’s wiles.
Anyway, if the idiots think they’re somehow getting ahead by buying gold, they aren’t going to calculate price comparisons. They’re just going to hur-hur-hur make the stupid purchase.
Pretty much, but they are still doing it. Which creates a need to do something about it.
I don’t want to be impacted by all the Gold-seller mail/map chat/whispers/etc. Should my needs be brushed aside because a small amount of people will hit the cap? It would impact by quality of experience playing this game if measures were not taken to help curb RMTs.
Is my experience in-game as a paying customer worth less than those will large amounts of in-game Gold?
Food for thought…
Those gold sellers only impact you for a few seconds at a time. You block, report and move on. Certainly much less incovenience than having artifical limits on transfering gold.
The problem isn’t that gold sellers are an inconvenience, the problem is people are actually buying gold from gold sellers. Which encourages them to hack more accounts to do more business. Stopping the gold sellers by the limitation, which severely hampers their ability to conduct business, you limit the amount of gold sellers wanting to do business in game. If the buyer can only recieve a limited amount of gold per week, why would they want to do business with them if it takes 2+weeks to receive their goods? At that point is not worth it to buy gold from third party sites. Plus it greatly increases the chances of buyers getting caught if they have to wait longer.
I think you’re vastly underestimating the ability of ingame gold/commodity sellers to adapt. If they can’t send gold, they will use something else. Again, just look back on GW1.
The problem with that though is the 15% fees and fluctuating prices on the TP. It makes it much more complicated and fluid when setting prices and amounts. You cant sell exact amounts, and with certain items the prices change very rapidly. The could sell items, but it’s a bit more difficult to get specific items from hacked accounts, as they are either account bound, or soul bound. Plus with the gold transfer limitations, even if they could sell some items, they are back in the same place.

This restriction should have no effect on items sent through mail. If there is, it’s unintended and most likely a bug.
http://i.imgur.com/EEN2wbW.png
Testing results:
Mailed an item with no merchant value (Divine Lucky Envelope): unable to pull it out of the mail.
Placed Divine Lucky Envelope in Guild Bank: Was able to withdraw from the guild bank.
Unable to withdraw gold from guild bank.
My account is capped for this week. Looks like once you’re capped, you can’t accept mail with items or money, unable to withdraw gold from guild banks, but are able to take out items from guild bank. It’s going to be interesting to figure out how we’re going to distribute weekly lottery prizes or guild tournament prizes now.
Its a bug, and will be fixed.
Unless he has so many gold e-mails that he can’t get to the dye e-mail.
The problem he described was gold transfers between personal guild bank. So, yeah maybe he was getting gold emails as well. However, if that was the case he would not even know he got the dye email until he was able to clear the gold emails.
I received no gold in e-mails except maybe 40 gold i moved from one account to another, and 5 gold i lent a guildie. I believe i moved the 40 gold earlier in the week or last weekend. Not concerned about the 3 silver dye or the 5 gold in my mail back from the loan. i can wait on that, just the principal. I did withdraw substantial amounts from one of my guild banks to place buy orders on TP items.
Then if someone mailed you a dye you should have no problem withdrawing that dye. Can you post a screen shot of the mail with the dye you can’t withdraw? Maybe it is a bug as suggested by someone earlier.
i can’t get the 5 gold either from my mail. it is what it is, just have to get all my funds out of my personal guilds, that’s going o take weeks and that sucks.
So it would appear that the limit from the guild bank AND mail is tied together. Initially it sounded like they were separate. But going back and reading the OP, it seems that it’s a 500g limit regardless of the source.
So let’s say ou’ve received 499G in the mail this week. What happens when you try to receive another 10G? Do you receive all 10G, only 1G, or none of it?
You should recieve the 1g, hitting the cap, and the rest will be held until reset on sunday.
Unless he has so many gold e-mails that he can’t get to the dye e-mail.
The problem he described was gold transfers between personal guild bank. So, yeah maybe he was getting gold emails as well. However, if that was the case he would not even know he got the dye email until he was able to clear the gold emails.
Well, unless its bugged at the moment to not allow you to take any mail out of the mail after you hit the cap. I dont suppose that would be possible would it? i wont ever 500 gold, so i cant test it.
That certainly is a possibility.
For those who are moving so much gold that they hit the cap and are terribly inconvenienced I can be a test subject. Each of you can send me 500g, and a mail with any item. I’ll see if I can get the item after I’ve reach the cap.
It’s for science!
i am not liking this what so ever. I pulled out 400 gold to buy some items on the market and between what i normally buy, sell, take profit and deposit in personal guild banks, i reached the max and cant get items in my mail. I think 500 gold is not enough, make it 1000 and it would be easier for people who buy and sell expensive items on the market some room without having to hold all the money they have on them at all times.
Again, seems like the players get punished instead of focusing on the reason we have to have these security issues in place. Would love to see more gold sellers getting banned. I go into a town and i start to get whispers one after another. If this were to happen in the real world, put the good people in prison to keep them safe from the crooks.Wait, I’m confused. You withdrew 400g from your personal guild bank, bought and sold some items on the TP, deposited some gold, and went to withdraw some more, but hit the cap?
Or were you buying and selling items outside of the TP, and hit the mail cap?
If its the former, TP profits aren’t effected. And items/gold don’t come in the mail.
If it’s the latter, well P2P trading isn’t supported and strongly discouraged, so you were prevented from doing something you shouldn’t really be doing in the first place. No, i pulled gold out of my personal bank to buy items on the TP. Must of pulled must of hit cap between deposition earlier in the week or might of pulled out funds throughout the week. I usually deposit funds in only of my banks to hold and not have too much gold on my character. Found out the max was hit when i tried to take a dye worth all of 3 silver out of my mail someone sent me.
Aaaah gotcha. Well you’ll be able to get the rest on sunday. So I don’t know if 3 silvers is going to break you for 2 days…but overall I believe its a good change, and the benefits far out weigh the inconveniences.
Gold Mail and Bank Restrictions are now enabled for everyone on both NA and EU.
Woot!!!
After some time would you be able to share how much of an impact this has had on Gold Sellers, and if there was a decrease in activity?
Thanks!

You don’t want to spend money yet you don’t have a lot of time to play to earn gold at a more normal rate. Yea, you’re basically screwed by your lack of willingness to do either.
What the hell are you talking about, “lack of willigness”? I laid out what my time frame is, and I asked for options, not judgment.
5-10g in 1-2 hours a day.
Unless you are speed running dungeons with the same group of people so you don’t need to use the LFG, it’s not likely to happen.
I understand your unwillingness to spend RL money, and only have a limited play time. But what Behellagh was getting at, the restrictions you DO have, and the goal of 5-10g a day isn’t very realistic.
With an average party doing dungeons, you might be able to do 3 MAYBE 4 paths a day within that time frame. Which is about 4-5g a day. With a speed run group, just doing the easy paths, you could potentially do 5, possibly 6 easy paths a day. Which would be 6-8g. However we don’t know your level of skill, or if you can even do speed runs, so we have to assume that you are among the average.
500G may seem like an entirely arbitrary number, but I guarantee it is not. I took a look at our mail data (believe me, you guys really like mail and there is a lot of data) and set the value based on that. At 500G, it is not only functionally effective, but also it will only impact 0.175% of our players during an entire month’s worth of mails (if an account would hit the restriction once per month/30 days).
Looking more directly at those transactions, a large majority (98.228%) of those mails are being sent by RMT or compromised accounts (after selling off everything of value on an account).
Yes, there are going to be some edge cases that this is going to bump into, and as we look more into the impact that this change will have, we might change the restriction. However, we feel that this change is going to significantly impact RMT in our game along with help remove a very large reason to compromise accounts.
This is just the first step in our plan to help users keep their accounts secure. More will come as we progress through the year (and forevers!).
It seems you’re trying to fix a problem by producing another problem. If you have over 95% of these account being either RMT and/or compromised accounts, then do something about your account security. Google authentication, IP tracking.
Account security is only effective if the players themselves use it. Sure you could add more layers, and IP tracking, and authentication, but in the end, if players still use the same passwords for their emails, GW2 accounts, bank accounts, etc. then no amount of security measures is going to stop them from being compromised.
So why should the .175% of players effected by this be catered to?
(Yes, that is the percentage given by Chris Cleary)
Why should security be reduced in an effort to limit and hamper gold seller activities because a few rich players feel like they are getting punished?
Why should I have to be less protected because I don’t have thousands of gold?Because it affects more than just the initial people they assumed. I did not hit the gold limit, but I was affected by the change because my guild leader cannot accept my gold submissions.
And why couldn’t those same submissions be placed into the guild bank? Then, they are safe there until such a time as it needs to be removed? Then the guild leader/officers can withdraw the gold and send it to where it’s supposed to go. Or allow the player to withdraw what they were supposed to get?
There are ways around it. Right now people are knee jerking to it because they finally feel the effect. But after a couple of weeks they’ll forget about it, have adapted and moved on.
How do you give someone the rights to withdraw a specific amount from the guild-bank? I looked, but can’t find the option in game. And if the leader had to withdraw and contribute the gold then the same problem would appear again.
Simple. Designate an area of the guild bank as “Lottry/prizes/activy rewards” And no one but the GL and officers have permissions. GL and officers deposit the appropriate amount of gold for the prize, and give the winner permissions to withdraw.
This means that GL and officers would have to carry “prize” money in their wallets, but if they are already being trusted to handle large amounts of gold when sending out prizes, then they can be trusted not to spend it.
So why should the .175% of players effected by this be catered to?

Edit:
I am not sure, but it seems like there is a 500g cap on recieving gold from mail, AND a 500g cap fro withdrawing gold from a guild bank. So effectively, lotteries and what not, can still be award up to 1000g a week. Guild leader send 500g in the mail and deposits 500g in the guild bank. So player can receive 500g in the mail, and withdraw the 500g from the bank.
For amounts larger than 1000g, they have to wait an additional week.
(Plus a 1000g gold prize is VERY generous. And if you are receiving this much gold on a weekly basis from your guilds activities you are VERY lucky indeed….)

Always has been .175%…

Please merge this thread with the other thread about the same thing. How the 500g limit has effected certain players.
Thanks!
Gems are technically the fastest way yes but I don’t want to pay any more money on MMOs than the box cost itself.
The reason why I want to farm gold at a decent pace is so that by the end of the year I can have enough to convert to gems and buy infinite gathering tools and such from the gem shop. If I was going to invest more money in the game I’d just go ahead and buy those items with money.
Then dungeons are going to be your best bet. However, they do tend to get boring fast (IMO) which burns people out. And then they complain that dungeons are too easy, too grindy, too boring, etc.
In the end though, if you enjoy doing them over and over, by all means, feel free to do so. When going for my legendary, I ran dungeons/fractals all the time. Now I rarely touch them. I much prefer open world stuff, and doing what I find fun, and getting stuff to sell along the way. It may not be super efficient, but it’s far more entertaining.
I left off some other example.
7) we collect Tonics. Would be cool if we had a UI button outside of inventory that we could easily access and activate different toys and tonics right from that action bar, instead if digging through the inventory.
8) the world is full of lore. An add on that allows players to hover over points on the map and get a small pop up of lore about that location.
8 would be cool!!
But it would certianly be alot of work, as each POI is based on something out of lore/history (which is why its a Point of Interest.) But I would be way ok with something like this.
Also please bring back the lore stuff on the loading screens. That was awesome! Kthnxbye!!
Not terrible.
But some of the things can be done with overlays such as Overwolf. Boss timers, WvW stats, I think a note pad as well (not sure though)
As far as weapon swaps on classes that don’t have it. I think it would be far easier to just include a weapon swap for all professions instead of creating a macro to swap weapons.
Either way, if anything these would come out as features and implemented as part of the game, rather than an external add-on. With add-ons and overlays, you run the risk of using up far more CPU power than you would if they were features within the game itself.
However, with Overwolf, you can certainly develop things things yourself and incorporate them into Overwolf (with the exception of macros), which ultimately might be a better way to go.
Edit: Overwolf does have a notepad app.

I read that as “torrents”, and was confused as to what the OP was on about….
But either way, turrets are not OP, a bit annoying sure, but certainly not OP.
Don’t charge into the middle of them and you’ll be fine. Try to take out the thumper and flame turrets first with AoE, and you’ll be fine.Take out thumper
We got the winner here!
Thank you!
I’ll be here all week, and am accepting donations for my insight and brilliance into dealng with turret engis. Gold is preffered, although exotics, precursors, and T6 mats are also acceptable. Thank you!!
(on topic)
I find thumpers to be the most annoying as a necro. The others I can tolerate, but those thumpers…..Thats why I try to target those first if I can. If I can get rid of that, then I can stand a chance, otherwise I bounce around more than a ping pong ball in a pachinko machine.
1. Buy Gems
2. Convert to gold.
3. ?
4. Profit.
The easiest, fastest, and most reliable way to make gold. Period.
