anyone else getting fed up waiting for something else to do ?
just what exactly are Anet doing with all that income from gem sales atm ? surely not useing it for heart of thorns coz i thought we where paying for that on releasei for one am refusing to buy any more gems till you lot start with the regular content again your just taking the kitten with this lack of content you want that income from gem sales but your not willing to give us anything for it and don’t dare say your spending that money on HoT production coz if that’s the case i want it for free since we have already paid for it
Ive said it before and ill say it again Anet has handled the whole HoT production/release badly mebey next expansion you will remember The 6P Principle (Proper Planing Prevents kitten Poor Performance) get it together Anet give us something to do
I thought Anet made it clear that there would be no content releases until the expansion launches.
So if you were expecting some content with todays patch, you really only have yourself to blame.
As far as handling the expansion badly? How so? They opened up closed beta stress tests, have regular blogs, and info concerning whats coming, they said they wren’t working on any LS/content updates until the expansion….
It sounds like they planned it out very well, and are following their plan.
Also as someone else said, those who didn’t want an expansion said this exact thing would happen. But those in favor kept shouting that it wouldn’t, and that they would be more than happy to wait, if it meant getting an expansion. Seems that the pro-expansion people were wrong….
Just to precise a thing: we know how to read. Two years ago, when we pondered about this trade service (because the need of our community to get this kind of service was growing) we ASK Anet customer support to help us about the legality of this service because of this precise article of the rules.
We clearly asked if it was against Guild Wars 2 rules. Clearly.
Aaaaaaaand… I’m still trying to understand if it was “yes” or “no” because you know like me how vague Anet answers can be (who said third party software ?).
Are you accepting a “fee” for people using this service?
If ye, then yes I would be concerned.
If no, I would at least reconsider. Player to Player trading is frowned upon, but not expressly forbidden. If there happenes to be one player who decides to complain about your service because he felt that he was scammed in some way, than it could go very badly for you.
1.) This is entirely about ANET being kitteny that they’re losing sales to 3rd parties because their prices are too high and they rip people off on the exchanges on both sides.
2.) This change benefits no one but ANET.
3.) Prices are literally 10x times higher now on the TP than they were last time I quit the game (over a year maybe 2). I expect that this will have absolutely 0 effect on lowering prices.
4.) As stated by others in this thread there multiple ways around this for the black market while it hassles "innocents’.
5.) ANET’s pro arguments are lame in the extreme and reminiscent of Comcast switching from unlimited downloads to data caps because “most people won’t be effected”.
There are many other things that DEVs could and should be spending OUR (paid for) time on – this isn’kitten
1.) Gem sales have always been $1.25 USD for 100. Since launch. The prices have not changed, nor will they. Also as a company they should protect their interests, not only themselves, but for their customers as well.
1a) The Gem Exchange rate is determined entirely by the players. The more people convert gold into gems, the higher the cost to do so. The more people convert gems to gold, the lower the cost. It was set up this way from the start, and nothing has been changed or modified in how it works.
2.) It effects the players as well. It’s an added layer of security if/when people get thier accounts hacked. It also helps the players in that people aren’t using 3rd party sites to buy gold, which leads to accounts being hacked, which is bad not only for the game as a whole, but the players who got hacked.
3.) The prices on the TP are set solely by the players based on willingness to buy and willingness to sell. Luxury items (i.e. precursors, special skins, etc.) are higher because they are in more demand, but maintain the same supply as a year ago. This only leads to people being willing to pay more for them. Over all, a vast majority of items on the TP have had very little change in prices. Also it;s not inflation when it only applies to a very very small portion of luxury items.
4.) 3rd party sites will always try to find a work around to pull in another sucker. However, even if they started sending items instead of gold directly, its much more of a hassle for players, which leads to less desire to use such sites, which then lead to a decrease in gold selling activites. In the end it hurts gold sellers on way or another.
5.) Based on the data they have, and we don’t, this is probably the most effective way to stop gold sellers, and protect their players and game. It’s a good change, and some people will be effected, but it’s a minor convenience to a very very small percentage (0.175%) which there are ways they can compensate and still go about their business.
It’s not even close to capping data on the interenet. Its protecting the game, it’s players, and Anet. Capping internet downloads is something else entirely.
Hey everyone,
I am representing Gw2Shop fansite. We are a French Guild Wars website created in 2006, used as a sell & buy platform for players in Guild Wars.
We followed the release of Guild Wars 2 by opening a new forum. We offer to our community your news, our tutorials for the game and a trade service. This trade service is today destroyed with this new rule, and maybe a part of our website, of our activity, of our community is killed too.
Our goal was to help Guild Wars 2 players to find buyer or seller and to linked both using game mails with a member of our staff to exchange goods and money. This service was really known in the French community.Chris, you said that 0.175% mails are affected. Here you will find my numbers: in 2014, 5 on 29 trades I made got a value under 500 gold. In 2015, 1 on 19 trades I made got a value under 500 gold.
We made trades of Eternity (with deposit), a bunch of precursor weapons, Kudzu, Bifrost or even Permanent Hair Stylist Contract…
No scam. No problem. Only happy people. With all respect, you underestimated (or ignored?) this business while your ban tools are enough accurate to see what gold trade is or not (and that’s great !).
0.175% seems maybe tiny for you but a part of our community is affected by this decision. We are very disapointed Anet has chosen for us the easiest way and without any debatte as we saw in CDI.
We hope the situation is going to be better. We hope our opinion will be considered. The Gw2Shop Staff

I think this is the only response you will recieve about your situation. Such things are not allowed and strictly prohibited.
Anet may choose to be lienient, but such things can certainly result in a ban for all participating members.
Good luck!
I agree with several of the comments here, about being offended.
Taking offence is a choice. You have to choose to be upset by a certain topic/theme/discussion.
If you choose to be offended by something said in chat, than it’s up to you to take action. There are multiple methods to do that. Turn off chat, Block, Leave the area, Ignore it.
Same goes for both sides.
It’s not ok to shut someone/group down because they hold differring opinons/beliefs than you. It’s also not ok to harass, insult, belittle, or otherwise cause grief to someone who holds differring opinions to yourself.
If you find that a certain phrase regarding faith is offensive, that certainly is your perogative, but it does not give you the right to force someone to stop talking about it, or give justification to insult or harass them or otherwise interfere.
It’s like saying that because someone did something to you, that you have the right to do something to them.
So in the end, live and let live. If you are offended, block/ingore and move on.
Any increase in account protections means trading off convenience for security. The most secure vault is difficult to access; the least secure is stored in your convertible, on the driver’s seat.
Cleary’s data suggests that only a few thousand players transfer 500 gold or more per week via email. It also suggests that many more are involved in buying black market gold or selling off assets from stolen accounts. This change, therefore, should protect many more people than it inconveniences. We should all be happy about that aspect.
There are two issues with the solution that are not covered by Cleary’s post:
- How many people withdraw 500g or more from guild banks in a week? I suspect the fraction is much larger than stated, if only because I know lots of people that add/subtract a few 100g every few days; I know very few who have 500g at any given time.
- How about guild leaders managing lotteries, donations to guilds moving from other servers, or otherwise pooling guild assets?
The first issue has a work-around: store assets as buy offers on the TP. It’s less convenient, but just as effective.
The second issue has no current work-around, but could be addressed by adding a guild improvement that allows members with certain rank permissions to withdraw e.g. 1,000 or 10,000 gold per week. If the upgrades cost required guild merits, RMTs and account thieves would be unable to bypass the restrictions, but well-established guilds would be able to manage pooled resources.
In the OP, Gaile also said that they would look at the numbers and adjusts as needed. So maybe the 500g limit per account per week would effect large raffle guilds, but than number can be adjusted while maintaining the reasons behind doing this. That way a hacked account can’t just clean out a guild bank and send it to an another account. Sure the other account will have to wait awhile to get what they stole, but that also greatly increases the chances of them getting caught. So it might not be worth it anymore.
Because reasons? The reasons are pretty clear and outnumbering all “problems” that may occur because of this change.
Pretty much.
Although it would appear that the 31 people this will effect are all here in the forums complaining about this.
:P
Guys. It’s 500 gold a week. It’s not going to impose on anyone except RMT.
Kitten, it’s more gold each week than I’ve ever seen.
This is flat out not true. Some people craft items in very high volume for very thin margins. If you’re dealing in the 500-2000g range, even a 5% profit is good money if you can turn it over in a day.
It’s not that crafters are “making” 500g per day, but if you send a few hundred gold to your secondary accounts to buy materials and assemble or refine them, you can hit this limit in a day – two or three days if you’re an amateur.
It’s very depressing how often we see “new features” that are “for our protection/benefit” that just reduce our quality of life when we know that the bag guys are going to find a way around it, but we’re going to have to live with it every day.
So instead of sending gold to crafting alts, why not purchase the items and send them?
If effectly does the same job, invloves the same steps, and has the exact same result.
Yeah, I mean it makes sense, but honestly I’m not willing to read the whole naming policy (the things I agree to without reading…
, i accept any repercussions though) but I know an old game I played also banned any famous names so if you slipped one through they’d also force a change if caught. So I’m curious if it’s just the whole terrorist thing (which I do find sad, it’s letting the terrorists win!) or if it’s also the whole “c’mon come up with your own thing”.
Nah. The blame can be squarely aimed at the terrorists. There are that many Norse gods running around that if a name-change was forced then I’d imagine the game would lose a fair chunk of goodwill.
Absolutely, but would naming your character Jesus be ok? What about Allah? Muhammad? Vishnu? Jehovah? Satan? At what point are these type of figures ok and what point are they bad? What makes Thor/Odin ok but probably not some of the others? Just that no one has a fit?
As far as Jesus. It’s a VERY common name.
It is of Hebrew origin, and the meaning of Jesus is “the Lord is salvation”. Short form of Joshua, from the Hebrew name Jehoshua. The appended “Christ” is what makes the difference. Even in His time the name Jesus was very common. Which is why He was referred to as Jesus of Nazareth, or The Christ.
Even if somebody named their character Jesus Christ nobody should care because it is none of their business.
True, but some people will get offended about anything…

i wonder what john smiths thoughts are on this subject
For all we know it was his idea…
I would imagine that he would support it. Plus I don’t see it really having any large or small scale economic ramifactions. At most its a QoL life issue for many people who are against it. But it’s not going to stop, or effect prices on the TP. Even if people are buying and sending items instead of gold to trade. Those items will go right back into the TP. So if anything it just creates more velocity, but prices will remain about the same.
even if it doesnt particularly have a large impact on the tp, one of his major goals/projects has to be eliminating gold selling
True…which is why I am certain he supports it. Even if he didn’t he wouldn’t say as much.

Will this in any way get around the new account limits that are in place?
I bought a second accound that I essentially dont play except to do crafting. It is so much easier and cleaner for me if I dont mix my flipping and crafting TP orders.
My problem is my main account and this new crafting account cant give each other anything whether its crafting materials or gold becuase my new account has some sort of a new account transfer limit. I dont know if this is lifted with time or what but it is very frustrating. I really dont want to spend time actually playing on this new account. So this 500 gold limit thing is a Tyrian first world problem I dont think will ever have an impact on me. I hope it undoes these new account transfer limits that are in place.
Yeah the new account limits get removed after a peroid of time as you play the account.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/support/Question-about-new-account-restrictions/first#post3382172
Theres also the possibility that the new specialist doesn’t want the same reception as the last one (which was downright rude and nasty) so they are laying low. They don’t need to respond, just read, collect, and send information.
So if I buy a dusk from an in-game/IRL friend that dropped directly so he doesn’t have to pay 150G in taxes, he has to wait that long to get his gold?
Dunno I can see the value of this system as far as scammers go, but if we’re buying/selling between friends this system messes us up badly.
It’s the same when people organize to buy a gift(for example a precursor) for a friend, If i can only recieve X amount of gold per week and i get 10+ messages with gold I can’t accept then what?
Yeah, thats the point. You aren’t supposed to be buying or selling items outside of the trading post…
How about instead of knee jerk reactions on how this is a horrible mistake, why don’t we wait and see how it plays out? I am sure that overall, outside of a few special circumstances, that hardly anyone will even notice this change, or be dramatically effected by it. And if they are so adversly effected, I am sure they can find an acceptable work around and avoid this completely, making it a non issue.
What is “low single digits”? 3%? 4%? 5%? It doesn’t matter, any percentage of the population being specifically targeted and screwed over in place of actually encouraging account security and competitive pricing is a lazy fix in my opinion. I don’t see how this system is going to reduce account theft. A secure account will never be compromised. Gold sellers aren’t hacking account by sending people in-game mail. There is no information for them through that process that they couldn’t get right here through the forums. I guess I don’t really understand how this is helping anybody.
It might discourage people from selling items without the TP, and I guess some people might like that. I don’t know why people care so much about stuff like that, don’t want to buy it? Don’t. Complaining about spam? Maybe we should just get a trade chat that we can disable then.
What do you mean by competative pricing?
100 gems has been, and always will be $1.25 USD. Thats actually not that bad.
It won’t stop accounts from being hacked, but it will hurt gold sellers trying to conduct their business illegally.
When you sign up on gold seller sites, they usually require your in-game name, as well as your account name. Often times an email assocciated with the account. There is also the possiblity of them downloading key-logging software on to your computer when accessing the site, when they then use to get your account info. Thats how they hack your account. If this helps stop them from doing business it has the side effect of resulting in less hacked accounts because less people will be purchasing illegal gold.
As far as player to player trading, it opens up the possibility of getting ripped off, which makes for uneccesary work for CS to investigate complaints of player A not recieving the gold that he traded Dusk to player B for. It also circumvents a needed gold sink, which effect everyone if it’s avoided enough. And if you are scammed through trading through mail, you lose the item and your gold.
So which is better? A safe reliable means of obtaining the item you want the precludes any chance of being scammed, and helping the game as a whole in the process? Or bypassing such a system, and risk losing your money and your gold? and the possibility of your account being actioned?
There really are very few situations where you would need to store extra gold in a guild bank and have to retrieve more than 500g at a time.
But we’re talking about 500g(max) not at a time, but across a week of playing. And once you take the money out and put it back in – the same gold will count again the next time you take it out. So even if you only own 50g (but take it out of your guild bank 10 times in 7 days) you will hit the limit.
In what situation would you need to take out 50g, and put it back in at least 10 times in a weeks time?
In what situation does the average player need to remove amounts of gold multiple times a week?I can see maybe some potential issues with larger guilds doing raffles and such, but that can easaily be worked around by allowing a few more people to withdraw some gold to send to the winner. And the winner might have to wait a bit to get the full prize. But its more of a minor inconveniece than anything, and one that can be circumvented with items instead of gold.
(I’ll edit my post, I misspoke about the time frame).
Example: Putting a single bid for a precursor on the trading post. Guess what, you can’t do that now if you didn’t plan for it a week in advance that you would have the gold when the precursor price in within range. … I could think of a hundred other examples.
However, if ANet also introduced a “restricted gold” amount in your wallet (i.e. in-game interface to divide readily accessible gold for purchases behind a secondary password on the account) then at least this part is alleviated.
BUT the Gold Sellers will simply move on to Gold-equivalent digital assets like Globs of Ectoplasm (or per Reddit, Silver Doubloons or Lodestones which I hadn’t thought of prior) and dodge around the issue. All of these items are fairly stable and relatively liquid in the economy. A semi-sophisticated Gold Seller will even offer what items you want the gold-value asset in.
That example while possible, is extremely unlikey for a large portion of players.
As gaile said:
This change will impact very, very few players. In fact, in previous statistical reviews, the percentage of players who would be impacted would be in the low single digits.
So instead of tossing all your gold into the guild bank, keep it in your wallet. It’s safer there than in a guild bank anyway. If you get hacked, which is a concern, they can do an account roll back, but anything in the guild bank that was removed cannot and will not be replaced.
Again those situations are more hypothectical and unlikely than anything.
As far as gold sellers. Why haven’t they done that now? or previously?
This system will certainly curtail ther efforts when dealing with gold transactions. Who would want to pay a third party, which is a dumb idea anyway, and not be able to recieve what they purchased for awhile? Or be only able to purchase 500g a week? If gold sellers move to items, why would anyone want to spend the time to take the items and sell them on the TP? It’s more of a hassle for the buyer. Plus, with the flucuating prices of the TP, the player isn’t going to be getting the amount they paid for. (As well as a perma ban for being stupid)
Also this allows Anet to better track down people who are buying large amounts of gold from gold sellers. Player buys 4000g from a seller. But it would take 8 weeks to get the full amount. Anet can spot a player recieving 500g a week each week for 8 weeks…seems a little suspicious to me…

I do that all the time
At the end of my playing day, I deposit everything except maybe 5g. Then a few days later I decide to make a few purchases or level a craft, so I take money (generously) out of the guild bank. I deposit the leftovers back (these are often more than 50g at a time). Then the next day maybe I craft some damask or whatever, and deposit the money in the bank. Then the next day I decide that it is a good day to buy ectos, and help myself to a generous portion of gold (better than to be a few gold short and having to run back and forth between the guild bank and the TP multiple times), deposit the rest. And so on. I do have sort of a GW routine, but what I play on any day varies a lot. Within 7 days, I will easily hit a 500g limit, whether or not (at the time) I own 500g (most of the time I do not).
Then you must fall into the low single digit percentage of players this will have an effect on…
hrasna — you’ve hit a very important point here: This change will impact very, very few players. In fact, in previous statistical reviews, the percentage of players who would be impacted would be in the low single digits.
Overall I think this is overreaction, and that a very large and significant percentage of players either won’t notice or even care.

I primarily toss in all the rares and low priced exotics I get. Partially to unlock skins, and for a chance to get something cool, like a precursor.
I don’t buy them, but just use the ones I get as drops. Silverwastes and world boss tours are great for getting rares. Sometimes it pays off, and I get a cool/expensive exotic, other times not so much. I usually end up salvaging a single rare that I’m left with after forging and get some ecto, but thats about it.
As far as gold storage and guild banks.
I really don’t see the difference between the personal bank, and guild banks.
Gold storage was remove from personal banks, and added to the wallet.
You want to store gold? Use a guild bank. Don’t want anyone to access it? Create your own personal guild, and buy the upgrades. Its really a non issue.
There really are very few situations where you would need to store extra gold in a guild bank and have to retrieve more than 500g a week.
“But I put it in there so I don’t spend it!”
Well if that is truly a concern, then maybe a little self control, and a change in your spending habits might be in order.
Over all though, I think that the negative impacts that this has on those storing gold is very minimal, and probably won’t be noticed much at all.

You mean this one? Where it says it’s capped at 250? I suppose thats what you are referring to…
Even if player to player trading wasn’t the intented target, it will have an effect on it and I say kudos that that. I hate when people spam the LFG system selling something.
It’s reportable. When I see it, I just report it as LFG abuse. Gaile made a post regarding the whole LFG selling thing. If enough people get actioned, then it will eventually be stopped.
I wasn’t aware that the achievment stopped giving points after so many times of completing it.
If it is able to be repeated infititly, then shouldn’t it give points infinitly as well?
Unless I’m missing something, but I don’t ever recall seeing anywhere that it stopped giving points after a cerain number has been reached.
You must have missed the early days, when some created threads showing 25,000 AP, almost exclusively from Entropy (most players had less than 5000 at that time, I believe).
That’s why it was capped, and the AP obtained rolled back. You can read about the cap on Entropy in the Wiki (link above).
Good luck.
To which link are you referring?
The Wiki link.
Either I am blind in one eye and can’t see out of the other, but there is no link….

While I am sure this will be very good to prevent gold selling and the like, I also think it would be bad for those who like to trade through mail to avoid TP fees. Personally I only use the TP and I know mail trading is not recommended, but some people do trade valuable items such as precursors through mail which will prove impossible after these changes and mail trading precursors is beneficial for both sides provided they both give what they agree to. Again this will only be a positive for me though, so I am definitely not complaining about this!
I think part of the reason is to prevent people from doing mail trades. It’s not recommended, and strongly discouraged. It helps people from getting scammed, and stops people from scamming if they can only recieve 500g a week. Of course if players insist on circumventing the TP fees, and they are legit, it would just take a couple of weeks to get their money and/or items. Which makes it very inconvenient. Which is kind of the point…

Does this mean we can get some form of gold storage back for our personal banks then? We were told a long time ago when gold storage in personal banks was removed that we should use guild banks to store our gold if we wanted a way to do that. With limits, it means that storing copious amounts of gold is no longer an option.
I would love some clarification on this. Thanks, Gaile.
I can’t really see any reason to have to store “copious” amounts of gold. The wallet is account bound and has no limit. Drop it into a guild bank and you run the risk of a jilted guildie stealing it (although permissions can and do prevent such things). But if you are using a personal storage guild with no other members, than you don’t have much to worry about either way.
Also if you are concerned about being hacked, and all your gold taken if it was just all in the account wallet, what is stopping the thief from accessing your guild bank and removing all the funds? But then if you have been hacked, you probably have more pressing things to worry about than your GW2 account…
On the Kittenizer™: Yes it’s an automated system but it’s also a thing here, now. In fact, I find myself saying “kitten” in actual speech. Which is fine at the office, where everyone understands. Might be a little awkward IRL. For instance, “Well, kitten, none of the kitten avocados are ripe enough for guacamole” at the grocery store."
:D
Yeah I probably spend too much time on the forums, but I find myself doing that as well. I have to consciencely NOT use “kitten” when speaking. I don’t generally swear much, but that whole “kitten” thing just kind of sticks with you. :P
A fake precursor in every Chest/bag! !
Can only be vendored for 1c
Dev response:
This is something we may like to look at doing at some point in the future, but is not something we are working at on this time. That is to say, it’s not off the table.
Skilless farmers moving to rated matches? I am actually ok with that. More death to feed my necro :P
If anything they will move to the ranked matches, get horribly beaten and force them to actually learn or quit.“Force others to play like I want them to play!” isn’t a good approach, you know.
I don’t see how removing rewards for practice mode is forcing anyone to do anything. If players want to pvp, they should pvp. If they want to practice, they should be able to practice. Being able to farm rank and be rewarded for jumping in to a winning team, gaining rewards for exploiting the system isn’t what Anet had in mind, and certainly not the spirit of pvp in general.
Yeah and everybody goes to Hooters for the wings.
I’m not sure I understand this reference. Might be a language barrier for me…
Anyway, what’s the worst that could happen to anyone involved? Get a free repair and to run for maybe 1 min in a video game? People tend to complain about uneven server populations (and even double teaming) and how that kills the fun but will bandwagon the living daylights out of everyday fights. SMH
That’s beside the point. It’s the wrong place to do that and complain about it when it goes wrong. It’s a team game and too many here say they don’t care. It’s their right to feel that way, but it doesn’t change the game. I wish we will eventually get a place for all this, I really do, but it’s not WvW.
Hooters is a restauraunt that is famous for scantily clad, busty women and chicken wings. Although people claim that their chicken wings are really good, the only reason they actually go is for the “staff”. Their wings aren’t all that good….
Practice arenas shouldn’t keep score at all. As in wins or loss don’t matter, offer no rewards, no track advancement, EXP. Nothing. That way those who want to practice and try different builds, tactics, etc. would be free to do so, without dealing with rank farmers and those who just want to log in and get an easy win.
Its practice. It shouldn’t reward you.
I’m not against, but…
Do you wanna those daily profession guys move to rated arenas?Skilless farmers moving to rated matches? I am actually ok with that. More death to feed my necro :P
If anything they will move to the ranked matches, get horribly beaten and force them to actually learn or quit.I can only see you saying that if you always queue up with a team of 5. Solo a queue a bit and get someone just learning on your team a few matches in a row and your mind will quickly change.
I usually hot join my first few matches to get profession dailies out of the way and it usually takes 4 or 5 rooms before you find a decent match but it beats playing those matches in ranked and ending up on a team with 3 rangers and 2 necros or something like that. If you get rid of practice arena you will just annoying people in ranked who solo queue on constantly get 3 or 4 of the same class on their team.
I do a bit of both actually. I never particularly cared if someone was learning or not. Win or lose, in the end I still have fun.
However, I’m not advocating for the removal of practice. Practice arena is needed, and useful. Just remove any rewards associated it with. Practice shouldn’t be rewarding, except in that you improve your play/build to actually be a contender in ranked matches.

Remove necros, Remove rangers, remove mesmers….
If you start removing classes whats the point?
Learn to play. Thats all there is too it.
necros are fine.. rangers are fine. warriors, guardians, even eles. i had good fights against all these classes. Everyone complains about turret engies but seriously i never called bullkitten on an engineer that beat me. stop hating engineers and start hating mesmers because this spam class is a nuisance through and through for anybody.. a fun class idea turned inconvenient and frustrating. visual effects that fill up your entire screen for example..
I was referring to the various threads where people are asking for X profession to be removed because “It’s too hard” or whatever.
This is the most recent one. But I know I’ve see remove X profession threads at least once.
In the end though, it’s really about learning to counter them. To find the real one, look for the one with signets, or the one that is dodging or moving out of AoE. Once you figure it out, it’s not that complicated.
But they shouldn’t remove a particular class because its difficult to fight. Even with all the visual effects (i.e. clones, phantoms, etc.).

Why should duelers be forced to play somwhere else? They aren’t ruining the game, they are simply playing in a fashion that they choose. If its in a high traffic area, well one of the things they need to consider is that others might come along and gank them. It’s part of the game.
At the same token, duelers shouldn’t expect to be treated differently if they are dueling in a high traffic area.
If they start whining about it, block and move on.
No one should get deferential treatment because they want to play a certain way. Duelers and non duelers alike.
I never really understood why people do such things. It confuses me.
I’ve been whispered a few times, usually after I’ve won a 1v1. (which happens very rarely) and been called a noob for winning. Wait what? My necro killed your thief in a 1v1, and I’m the noob? And I need to l2p? Huh?
I guess kittens will be kittens. Ignore them, and move on. I ain’t got time fo that!
I agree that attacking objects as a condimancer can be a pain, because it takes forever. But I understand why conditions shouldn’t be used. Not only for realism, but for balance issues as well.
A better option (IMO) would make it so that objects only recieve base damage. That way a zerk warrior would do the same damage as a cleric guardian. This means that such things as might and other power buffs are not taken into account when attacking objects. This puts everyone on the same/similar level and doesn’t punish or reward certain builds/professions when dealing with objects.
If I understand it, all professions share the same base power so this would put everyone on an even level.
is there some drama that i missed
Yeah, some dude bragging about how he joined a pug group while not meeting the groups requirements, called them noobs, and got kicked.
Which really doesn’t make much sense, but hey, trolls are gonna troll.
DR only applies to weapon / armor drops but not to crafting mats.
I always love when people complain about it and have never really noted that.
Site your reference for that?
DR stops all drops it’s not tuned to key for only certain items and it’s used to stop loot period.
Tell that to the people who reported not getting any loot and people who are still reporting whole chests disappearing from events.
Anyway, Karma could easily fix this problem as well so that people wouldn’t have to use gold for every single piece of anything in the game. The cost of lodestones would then not matter.
I thought the no loot or chests were bugs and not at all related to DR?
Unless they just kept a character parked at the event, and completed the event, then logged back out? If they did that for awhile, than it could possible trigger DR.
Although I do agree that DR, if ever reached would effect all drops, and not just drops of a certain type.
Guildwars=name of the game, do we have it? Not.
This really isn’t much of an argument for the case of GvG. As explained many times, the name guild wars refers to the series of wars in the history of Tyria called The Guild Wars .
And thus the name of the game.
Sure the game itself contained Guild vs. Guild battles, but that was more of a mechanical idea rather than the main focal point of the games.
Just like The Legend of Zelda. Zelda is a secondary character that doesn’t have much to do with the story of the hero, Link. Using that argument, it should be called The Legend of Link.
VOIP is known to be easily monitored by a third party. A certain free VOIP provider that rhymes with snipe is infamous for the practice of allowing governments to listen in. I have some personal experience with this issue and the former Thai government.
The technology is untrustworthy and is known to be monitored by third parties. I definitely would not like to see it in game on principal.
Well, no one would force you to use it. I personally would have no problem with the Thai government knowing I suck at the game.
I can somewhat agree with that sentiment, but its the principle of the matter. Governments have no business monitoring its citizens. But thats a completly different discussion that really shouldn’t be had here.
In any case, security is a concern. If such things can easily be monitored, how much information can one obtain for malicious purposes? Of course when using the internet in general security is always a concern. Although I am confident enough in my own personal computer protection, and Anets efforts to protect their game, it shouldn’t be a major deciding factor, but certainly needs to be addressed by Anet if considering such a thing.
It doesn’t matter what online game I’m playing, it could be console or MMO, but whenever an expansion gets announced for a game I’m playing, I just kind of shut down playing it for a while.
I don’t really know if it’s to recharge the batteries and get a nice refreshing restart with the expac’s new content.
It makes sense in a way, simply because expansions come out, because people are getting dull with the game and are craving more content.
On my end though, I was going pretty hardcore after my legendary and leveling a Guardian pretty hardcore, but once Jan 21st happened, I just kind of shut down because I’d rather be playing the new shiny content.
Anyone else get like this?
I do occassionally.
It’s called “getting older”.
It’s an affliction to which there is no known cure, and has a 100% fatality rate.
Over time your interests begins to wane, drift, and change. What was once fun and exciting and engaging, is now lifeless and dull.
It’s not a terrible thing though. This disease tends to comple you to go to a place commonly referred to as “outside”. Once you’ve gone “outside”, you’ll find new and interesting things to see and do, which will comple you to further explore this strange new world of “outside”.
So, take your time, enjoy what life is now offering you. Go fly a kite, talk to a stranger, go to a disreputable club, take a chance, and LIVE while you still can!
Good luck!
While MMR is stil be examined and worked on, any system the put in to replace it will certianly need to be tested. They could go back to the GW1 style ladder, but it would still need to be tested.
We are getting GvG with the expansion.
They do tournaments. I believe there is one currently going on, and one not that long ago.EU server lag is a known issue and something they are actively working on. If you want it done correctly, and not a half kittened rush job, it’s going to take time.
In any event, the current system is actually pretty cool, in theory. However the actual implementation has created unforseen side effects that really do need to be addressed. And thats what the testing is all about. The change a few things, test it in action. Make any modifcations, and go from there. It’s a process. And it takes time. Be patient and it will be fixed and work exactly as intended.
Takes time? Man you can’t be serious. The game is nearly 3 years old, and they didn’t do anything worthy. We are still in a beta version of the pvp game. That’s my problem.
Btw. I mean tourmanents ingame, not a buggy registration of esl. All of the good systems they used in gw1 disappeared.
And raging about it is going to make them just suddenly do it…Gotcha
Of course all of the systems in GW1 disappeared. It’s an entirely different game with different mechanics. It’s like trying to take a DOS based text game, and throwing it into a PS4 and expecting it to be a high quality graphical game. It’s not going to work.
Sry man but you rly don’t get what I want to say. I know that the game mechanics is total different, but a guild ladder is needed. GVG is needed for this conquest mode too. And GW1 had a working system with normal ladder and matchmaking. That could be the same here too, and the pvp community would be satisfied with it. That’s all. I don’t want GW1 mechanics here, just a kittening guildladder, that we had there. With rankbased matches you can enjoy all of your games, cause you’ll get opponent on your lvl.
And thats what the MMR is supposed to do. But it’s also supposed to give you a better rank based on how well a single player performs in a given match. Instead of just rank based on wins/loses. This rewards players for carrying a team, and punishes players for not doing anything.
I understand what you are saying, and yeah I want a working system as well, but patience is more rewarding then letting yourself get frustrated and worked up about nothing you have control over.
That’s completely wrong. This system actually punishes solo players no matter how hard they try. Without functional matchmaking, you might as well end up with 4 new people and you just cannot carry 4 people over and over. You can carry some games, sure but not all of them. Leaderboard doesn’t reflect individual skill at all, it punishes good players and promotes players who just farm wins.
Key word is supposed. I agree that the current system isn’t working as it should, and needs to be fixed. If it did work as intended, that it wouldn’t matter if it was solo players or not. The best players (meaning those who have stayed alive the longest, dealt the most damage, captured and defended the most points, etc.) would be rewarded the most, solo or on a team.
But the match making isn’t working. Thats why we are getting uneven matches, blowouts, and what not.
But we don’t need this. MMR would be good for a random arena (that’s what we have right now). What rewards do you get with this system? +points? Joke. This system is a grindfest nothing else. I speak about competitive pvp, GvG. I think we waited long enough to lose patience.
The same could be said about any system of scoring put in place. Whats the reward? Points? Position on a leader board? With any other system, whats stopping it from becoming a grindfest?
What makes PvP competitive? How is GvG more competitive than forming a team and playing against other teams? Isn’t that what essentially GvG is?
Also, your argument of having to press 3 buttons to have to opt out of being inconvenient is ludicrous. It can also be reversed by everyone that wants it on having to push 3 buttons to opt in. If you are that lazy……..Probably shouldn’t be playing a button mashing game.
Oh I totally agree, I was responding to a previous quote about how its a QoL matter, that if you want to join in comms you need to press 1 button instead of 2. (using already available voice comm options)
That argument, either side, doesn’t really hold up at all…which is kind of why I made it :P
