It’s the chain I beat you with until you
recognize my command!”
Heres an idea…
Maybe if everyone just stopped being kittens, then we wouldn’t have to deal with this sort of thing at all. This goes for those being offensive, and those taking offense. Just a thought….
53 rares is 13 combinations minimum, and the upgrade rate is 20%, so we would expect ~2.6 or 2-3 exotics from those combinations. I’d say you were a slight bit unlucky, but not by much. If you turned around and put all of the returned rares back into the forge, you would’ve gotten an extra 3 combinations, bringing the expected returns much closer to 3 exotics.
Yeah I did toss in the rares, but only got more rares back.
I was just curious if that was a decent return or not, but it seems it was a little on the low side.
As I get more T5 mats, I’ll try again and see what happens.
So I had a ton of mithril, elderwood, and T5 mats. So I decided to craft a bunch of rares to toss in the forge. I was able to make 53 rares. Tossed them into the forge, and got 2 pearl exotics back. I know 53 rares isn’t a very large sample size, but is that a decent return? Just curious….
I read that as “torrents”, and was confused as to what the OP was on about….
But either way, turrets are not OP, a bit annoying sure, but certainly not OP.
Don’t charge into the middle of them and you’ll be fine. Try to take out the thumper and flame turrets first with AoE, and you’ll be fine.
Player can attach the Game Advisor to the automatic response email sent from the CS Team as soon as they receive it, as I don’t think they can modify the software used to submit the initial request.
True, but the general forums allow for upoading attachments. If they could include that function into the ticket submission that would be awesome.
But either way, if the players were to have this on hand when submitting a ticket, it would greatly decrease the time needed to fix the issue, which is better to the CS team and the players as well.
Just as a heads up. For those of you experiencing strange technical issues with Guild Wars 2, please download and run NCsofts game advisor.
(Instructions and download link here: https://support.aiononline.com/hc/en-us/articles/200417693-How-do-I-run-the-Game-Advisor-application-)
This will output a log that you can also send to Anet, and it gives them all the information they need to help solve your problem. Doing this ahead of time helps speed along the process considerably.
Also as a suggestion to the devs. Would it be possible to be able to add attachments to support tickets? This way people can upload the Game Advisor report directly when submitting a ticket, which would help speed up the time each ticket takes, as well as make life so much easier for the CS agents working with the tickets. Just an idea….
https://help.guildwars2.com/home
Please submit a ticket here ^^
Click on the “Submit Request” Button at the top right corner.
Fill out the form with the information requested, and someone will get back in touch with you.
Also please download and run Game Advisor from here: http://us.ncsoft.com/gameadvisor
(Instructions here: https://support.aiononline.com/hc/en-us/articles/200417693-How-do-I-run-the-Game-Advisor-application-)
Send the output to Anet when you respond after you submit the ticket. This will give them all the information they need to help figure out whats wrong.
Good luck!
Can we get some input from an ANET dev on this?
Dev response:
This is something we may like to look at doing at some point in the future, but is not something we are working at on this time. That is to say, it’s not off the table.
Devs cannot/will not talk about future features/content on the forums. The occassionally discuss future ideas of the types of things they might be working on/close to finishing. (i.e. working on a change to the trait system, Working on something for further character progression, etc.) But nothing specific. So if a Dev wanted to respond, they would only really be able to respond as above.
Also if any Dev were to respond, it wouldn’t be an affirmation, or denial. They wouldn’t be able to say “We like this idea, we are going to look at putting it in” or “No. This idea is bad.” The first implies a promise that it is being developed and will be in-game soon™. The second is too definitive of a statement, and if they change their mind and decided to implement it, they again “have broken their word”. At most you’ll get a generic response, if any.

The Appendix of Thorns?
The Medulla Oblongata of Thorns?
ooo how about the pancrease of Thorns?
Thats awesome!
I like these kinds of posts
They make me feel all warm and fuzzy!

i cant find info if and when living story will return io know there wont be any til expansion but will it return or not

The expansion is the continuation of the LS. And no they won’t give a release date until it’s close. Please see my above response. Thanks!
If this is a thread asking for communication on certain things (as opposed to a wishlist thread), then I think there is either some rule or general policy that such threads aren’t appropriate. May be wrong though.
But while the thread is here, I’ll offer the list I’m after
1) Traits
2) Traits
3) Traitsand so on. Other niggling things and annoyances as well, but thats the main one that, as a system in itself an how I feel Anet has handled it, has really dented my enjoyment and passion for the game.
It’s not that such threads are inappropriate, it’s Anet has an internal policy that forbids them from speaking on the details future updates/content until such a time as they are closer to launch.
OP: As stated, you won’t get a response on whats to be coming out, unless its being revealed a blog post. That has always been Anets policy, and will continue to be Anets policy. Whether or not you agree with said policy is an entirely different matter. But one that isn’t going to change based on public opinion.

Good luck!I have just proven it is on ArenaNets side!
It’s not a port issue for me. I already have tried using port 443 and now 80 with the “-port 80” addition to the target lounch shortcut.
I’m able to test the route times and it just shows the server being the problem.
I am a old school online gamer and have been around a while to understand this from back when the internet was first available.
Using UoTrace and the server ip you can perform a thorough test of the route times and packetloss. I have no problem with either of these.
If this is indeed the case, please post your information in the appropriate thread, so Anet can develope a solution and get this fixed.
Thanks!

I haven’t seen anything to suggest that the mini patch broke the game.
It could be the drivers. Beta drivers don’t always play well, so it could very well be that. Try to do a driver roll back, and see if it’s still broken. If it’s not, then update to the latest stable drivers and see what happens.
Good luck!
my bad. i thought you were saying they should limit how much you could send with your gold cap statement. i misunderstood.
It’s ok, nobodys perfect. And I’m nobody so…..
Just don’t let it happen again!! :P
That’s an understatement… and of course, at this point, they aren’t likely to fix their “oops.”
There still isn’t a convincing argument that this is in fact an “oops”
*goes and hides under the bridge.
No I suppose not. Though the state of the affair definitely leads to the support of “they didn’t think this one through.”
There also is the possibility, and a high one at that, that “Silk wasn’t an accident” and “Is is working as intended” (per John Smith)
Just sayin….Yeah…that’s exactly what I would say if I screwed it up and didn’t want to cop to it either….
So JS is lying? And silk was indeed an accident, and its broken beyond repair?
Gotcha….
You can set up 15 different layers of passwords, but if players don’t practice best online security practices, then it’s not going to make it more difficult to hack. It will just take a bit longer.
I agree. Being a proactive player, I want added measures. Many people have been saying in here that “people won’t use it”. That’s all fine and good. It still needs to be implemented for people that will use it. ArenaNet can supply the tools and players can decide if they want to use them. That way, if players choose not to use them, the fault is their own for not employing said measures.
So why not implement this, as well as the gold cap?
That way people can feel snug by having an extra password, and sellers will still be curtailed? Just having a password doesn’t limit gold seller activities, which is what this is supposed to do.Sure, I would concede that if a few things happened.
1.) If someone is on your friends list for more than a month you should be able to trade freely with them. If my brother wants a few hundred gold, I should be able to send him that amount as many times as I wish.
2.) Optional Password protected Banks with ability to store gold in them. The password would have to be different than the account password.
3.) Password protected guild banks with more administration options for guild leaders. Heck, guild administration options have been terrible. The “Represent Button” which a player has to press every time they want to get in their personal guild bank guild is right next to the “Leave Guild” button. It’s awful design.
I can’t think of any more off the top of my head at the moment. If that stuff was implemented, it would show me that my interests were being looked out for as well as ArenaNets.
Just on point 1.).
You already can send him as much gold as you want. There is no limit on how much gold you can send. The only restriction for sending gold is limited to 500g per mail. You can still send multiple mails.
That’s an understatement… and of course, at this point, they aren’t likely to fix their “oops.”

Gaile:
How much of a percentage of gold seller activity reduction do you anticipate with this change?
Based on the data you have available, will this also have an effect on the number of accounts being hacked?
Thanks!

I don’t see what the connection is between loot tables, bots and account security is. They are all very different subjects that aren’t really connected.
I can kind of see a connection between bots and account security, but its weak. How many bots are hacked accounts? How many bots are legit accounts that people have automated? I’ve had a couple of conversations with people, outside of guildwars, that were considering writing bots if/when they purchased the game. Of course I tried my best to shut them down.
As far as limiting how much gold can be recieved via mail per week is a good solution. And a good long term one at that. If this makes it more difficult for gold sellers to send their “wares” it’s not going to be as profitable, or worthwhile, for them to do it. Why would I want to buy gold from a gold seller if its going to take 3 weeks for me to get my gold? (Of course anyone buying gold from a gold seller is making a terrible decision anyway, and their judgement shouldn’t be trusted in any case.)
But yes account security should be Anets and players top priority. Thats why they included mobile authentification, thats why they enourage unique passwords, and online security practices. However, Anet can only do so much if they players don’t follow their recommendations. Anet strongly suggests not using the same password for GW2 as your email. But if players are dumb enough to do just that, then they put themselves at risk. Putting in a pin or password wouldn’t really help much, cause it could very well be the exact same password as their email/game login. So those who are more security minded will appreciate that extra step, but those who aren’t/don’t care, will find it a bother and just do the bare minimum required so they don’t have to worry about it.
You can set up 15 different layers of passwords, but if players don’t practice best online security practices, then it’s not going to make it more difficult to hack. It will just take a bit longer.
I have to say in my annoyance, I slightly misread the new policy.
Since there does not appear to be a limit on how much you can send, my original concerns can probably be addressed by adding a couple extra accounts and rotating them as needed. Not ideal, especially with the new account restrictions, but if I had known this earlier, I would have bought more.
That said, the lack of send restrictions is pretty interesting – it does not keep a hacker from sending out all your gold (they could send it to multiple accomplices if you have more than 500g).
I guess if they limited sending and not receiving, you could just have a lot of accounts send small transactions to the RMT customer until it adds up. That would be hard to monitor.
Still not loving it, but I’m slightly less annoyed.
That’s really interesting. Let me get this straight, someone hacks your account(you have 3000g) and they have like 10 accounts. They can send 500g to 6 of those accounts and still have 4 other accounts on which to use to hack other accounts and repeat the process and they can send as much gold out as they want? I didn’t even know that. That is really disconcerting.
Man, I wish some people had been asking for a way to store gold in their personal bank and an optional password protected bank account feature was implemented so that you could keep the bulk of your wealth protected there.
Why the heck aren’t limits being placed on how much can be sent IF we are never getting a way to secure our gold in a bank with password protection? Is account hacking limited to idiots who buy gold from gold selling sites? Or can it happen to anyone? If it’s the latter then why not limit sending of gold too? Surely, the good folks at ArenaNet aren’t suggesting that gold bots don’t have access to multiple accounts with which to carry out their nefarious plans?
There are so many ways around what you guys are suggesting is a fix for this issue. That, or you are doing other things as well behind the scenes, and that is all well and good, but there are better ways to implement this that don’t cause so much collateral damage.
I have reported/blocked more gold selling bots than I can count. I am tired of being an upstanding citizen and then being penalized for the work of cheaters, scammers and gold sellers. Heck, the bot population is WAY DOWN from where it used to be and you guys still haven’t brought the loot levels of good farming spots back up to their pre-gold bot loot drops. You guys make needed fixes, eliminate bots and then instead of bringing back the loot to said creatures, you leave the loot tables as if the bots are still there! It sucks.
I wasn’t aware the loot tables have been changed, or modified in farming spots. I have a few that I visit occassionally and haven’t noticed anything amiss. But unless there is documentation that loot tables have been tampered with, I am going to assume that it is more a cognitive bias more than anything, and thus not really reliable.
For Mithril, use it for Lump of Mithrilium to make Deldrimor Ingots. You can sell those for a decent bit. Silk is at a premium righ tnow, just sell it, and leather, I typically just vendor it, as it’s not really worth selling on the TP.
People are quick to forget fulfilled promises, but always remember broken ones.
Can you also do a list of what they promised and delivered? (For a game that doesn’t even have a monthly fee?).
Let me start!
-No subscription fees.
-A Living breathing world in which the character has influence upon.
-Free Living Story updates
-No Pay to Win.
-Being able to replay Living world episodes
-The ability to play the game how I want, and not be forced into certain activities.
-The ability to store skins, and use them at will.
-The ability to buy gem store items using in-game gold.
-The LFG system.
-Fractals.
-New bosses, maps, and fight mechanics.
To name a few of the things that were promised and delivered.
Well done Anet!!! Here’s a cookie!!
Test:
You keep trying to bring this topic back, even afer it gets closed and dies off.
This is going to turn into another pointless discussion on how you think that Anet is a lyng cheating company. While everyone else is happy, fine, and content with what they have given us. Please lay off it already.
So we didn’t get what was “promised” But almost everyone took those things as what Anet wanted to do, but instead changed the direction they were heading, and decided on something else. Not as a set in stone promise that they didn’t deliver on.
What ever bone you have to pick with Anet, please take it up with them instead of posting your rants that don’t do anything but stir up trouble. Thanks!
Probably midnight PST time, as thats where Anet is….
yeah i already have a few work arounds in mind but i am very against useing commodity as a trade resource if i can avoid it i have never been a lover of the black lion and the extra charges involved in selling stuff
while i understand how important and essential they are to the economy it docent mean i am gonna wholly embrace it like most folk given the chance will not pay there taxes in RL and like most rich people i don’t like to pay taxes like everyone else how else do they stay so rich
my whole time spent playing on this game i have tried my best to avoid using the back lion as much as possibly mainly when it comes to buying things
if i need t6 mats for example i will ask my friends /guildies if they are selling anything i need like ectos ect
of course there is never enough suply and i do sooner or later have to resort to the black lion tp but i digress
long and short of it if players start using ectos ect itl just drive the price of your ectos through the roof witch is bad for anyone needing ectos creating a false economy subject to Anets whim when they decide to flip it and tell us they are limiting ecto trades via mail or whatever new bs idea they come up with and the whole ecto based economy collapses
I don’t think it will have that much of an effect on etco (that is if ecto is being used)
The turn over rate will be super high, keeping the prices in check. If players buy ecto to use for trade, and the one recieving them turns around and sells them back, prices should remain about where they are. Also if ectos are being used as currency, than it makes more sense for everyone to keep them at the same level with buy/sell orders, to maintain their value as a currency.
no pdavis.8031 i earn 100g a day average that’s 700g a week leaving me an excess of 200g+ per week i cant claim that will continue to grow at my rate of earning
in order to claim all money sent to me i have to willingly stop earning via my usual means and i find that unacceptable
No you don’t have to stop. Start charging for items instead. Charged lodestones, or ecto, or T6 mats, or whatever. You still get your earnings, but you need to adapt.
Again, you are looking at it from a perspective of effecting only yourself, and how it must be bad because it forces you to have to adapt. “But its inconvenient!!” And?
Look at Airport Security, just because some kittens decided to do something horrible, I have to wait in line for hours, be subjected to x-ray, “random” searches, etc. Should it be removed because a few people are inconvenienced by it?
If you cannot adapt, than you will not survive. If it’s too much to ask for items instead of gold, than maybe you shouldn’t be in the business you are in….
thefinnster:
If you are making an average of 200g a week. This will not effect you at all. No I don’t see it as a problem. If its such a big deal, ask for items instead. Use the TP and everyone wins.
Plus, situations like this are so few and far between, its almost non-existent. While it may effect you, it certianly has more of an effect on RMT gold sellers, which this is supposed to stop/hinder. If you can’t adapt, then you won’t survive.
It doesn’t make sense that Anet shouldn’t do something that will have a very large and significant impact on gold sellers just because a few people are going to be inconvenienced by it. Thats like asking them to remove jumping puzzles, because a small gorup of us don’t like them and it hampers how we want to play the game. Or to put a cap on how much gold you can make in your lifetime because it’s unfair that some people have more gold than I do, and I’ll never be able to catch up.
In short, stop thinking about yourself, and start looking on the effects on the game as a whole. Which is very very minimal to 98% of active players, and has a very large impact on gold sellers who do more to ruin the game than anything else.
(Obligitory send me your stuff post)
Is it really that big of a deal?
Sounds like you were looking for a reason to leave, but couldn’t justify it, so you are using this as an excuse to perhaps make yourself feel better about uninstalling the game.
In any event, good luck!
im not talking about trading precursors tho or material items i am somewhat of a mercenary in game and i hire my services out to players for many things ranging from jp’s ls achievements and dungeon paths while some players may frown on this it perfectly legit (i offer a service that would not be available otherwise) and on an average day i clear about 100g if im on at the right hours when new achievements come out and sales are high i can clear 300g in a day if the conditions are right
these changes are outright bs and will cripple my progress
Ive done nothing wrong why should i suffer for Anets lack of consideration or security measures
You can still recieve all the money sent for your services. Do you have to wait a bit longer? Yes. But is it stopping you from getting the money you’ve earned? Not at all. Any gold sent through mail after you’ve received 500g is kept in reserve until the next week. It’s a time gate. Nothing more.
Of course this puts you in the outlier, but for a vast majority of players, this isn’t even going to be a bother. But it’s not stopping or preventing you from carrying on as normal.
this whole change seems idiotic and only benefits Anet all its gonna do is force players to trade in resources and resources means using the TP and that means listing fees etc and we all know whose agenda that works for and ill tell you it aint mine
relay expect by the end of the day this will all turn out to be an April fools day prank
lets be honest for a lot of players 500g is nothing in this economy
Yes, it strongly encourages players to use the TP instead of trading through mail. Anet has stated dozens of times player to player trading is not supported, nor is it something they want players to do. They want players to use the TP, because its safe, its reliable, and helps the games economy as a whole, people aren’t being scammed/ripped off, and you are not limited to how many transactions you can do, etc.
It is in every players best interest to use the TP over trading through mail. Sometimes mails don’t always go through, there are limitations on mail, people like to scam and rip off others, you run a greater risk of losing your item or gold by trading through the mail. And CS won’t do anything about it.
However, if a purchase on the TP breaks, they can, and will fix it.
So which is better for the players? the TP or trading through mail?
(edited by pdavis.8031)
It wasn’t so much about the “Horrors” of grouping up to do a part of the Personal Story. It was that forcing a group when 99% of the Personal Story was solo, with an option to bring in friends if you wanted to. It didn’t fit into the theme of PERSONAL story. Which was the chief complaint. It wasnt that hard to find players, and it was easy. But it kind of felt forced to have to join with someone to complete part of the solo experience. (Yes, there are solo experiences even in MMOs)
This just seems like a broken mechanic to me, Sigils that can be crafted cost way more to craft than the price to buy them from the Tradepost. This is so backwards. I could understand if a few of them were like that, But not all of them,
If crafting is an intricate part of this game, How can you tell me this is not broken? Why would anyone craft a superior sigil, Why is this even an option?
And Who are you people selling your sigils at a 100-200% loss?
Which sigils?
If they are priced according to what they cost to craft, then people probably wouldn’t buy them at all. The system is set up for willingness to buy and willingness to sell. If the buyer isn’t willing to pay cost, then the seller has the option to sell at a lower rate, in order to move their product, or keep it higher in order to break even.
Plus you have to figure the craftable ones are generally made solely to level crafting, so people craft a bunch of them, then drop them on the TP just to get rid of them, and aren’t super concerned about the costs, as they are only trying to level up their crafting.
Well, when they join party, it tells the name of the person who joined, as well as the person who initiated the kick, and who also voted to kick. Right click on their names, and report.
I would using griefing instead of LFG abuse, as that is exactly what they are doing.
This scenario- I am saving for a precursor… I’ve slowly been squirreling gold away into “my savings account” personal guild bank for the EXACT same reason I would use a savings account, big ticket/dream items. Normally it sells for 850 gold so that is my saving target… Suddenly I see one listed for 700g, around 150g less than I ever have before and within my saved up amount. I pop a bankers express or run to a bank to withdraw and claim my prize praising how lucky I am to find such a deal… oh wait… I now have to wait a week… 3 hours later my great deal sells to someone else that isn’t me… sorry but my RL example is VERY applicable…
And I’ve given an alternative to a personal bank, bids that have zero chance being filled on the TP.
So lets say you are saving for a precursor or legendary. You have some gold you want to but toward it, place a bid. You have more gold you wish to contribute, pull the old bid (no cost) and place a new bid with all the gold you are “saving” toward this. Rinse and repeat. It’s one extra minor step over a personal bank. Actually this way it’s more like a Christmas Club account.
Use this item if you are afraid of accidently buying it.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Xunlai_Electrum_Ingot
These are not in-game, and thus can’t be filled. And according to GW2 Spidy, it looks like several people are already doing this.
http://www.gw2spidy.com/item/46743
Good luck!
I am going to log into the game and transfer all the gold in my personal guild bank to my wallet. That is obviously what ArenaNet wants.
Why would you not have done that the day the wallet was added? Or even before that, why was this gold not simply in your account bank?
I’ve not seen anyone give a valid reason as to what purpose this serves and why it should continue being supported. This functionality is useful to active guilds, but I don’t see why a personal guild needs to be used as gold storage.
I am curious if anyone on this thread who is arguing against the logic of people putting their gold into a personal guild bank has ever had a savings account in RL…
No one is arguing against the benefit of a personal guild bank to save. However, if you are pulling over 500 gold a week from your personal guild bank you are not really using it as a saving account are you? No, you are using it more like an alternate checking account. I have several savings accounts in real life, and I use it for just that, saving. I never even consider taking funds out because I’m doing just that saving for my future. Your IRL example does not match with in game examples.
True, but you could have just as easily kept that same money in your wallet, and not have had to worry about running to your bank to withdraw you gold…and thus missing out on the amazing deal.
its hard to make a complaint when your unhappy about it without coming off like a whiny kitten coz your often expressing your frustrations witch are hard to verbalize in a clear way when your coming from that position
sry if my post sounds a bit like that its not relay my intention i mainly wana discuss it rationaly with players and bring it to Anets attention in the hope they take note and do somethingAnd what would you like them to do?
Give a date? Reduce work on the expansion and work on free content? Make wild promises they can’t keep to placate a few people? (who incidently asked for this very thing.)if you reduce it to that simple question id say no i dont want them to slow down work on the expansion
but it just makes me come back to saying why didn’t they plan better for this and schedule some content ?
i mean it dosent even have to be new content like i said what ive they released sab 1-2 ida killed many hours in that replaying it with friends who hadent done it laughing my ase off as they died for the 1000th time on tribulation modeYou make it sound as if they can do a whole expansion on a whim in a weekend. You don’t think they planned well enough for it? That’s a real ignorant assumption. I think if there is ANYTHING Anet has planned for, it’s the release of this expansion. If you think just a little bit, you could possibly come to any number of reasonable explanations why you won’t get new content every 2 weeks up to the expansion.
yeah im sure they have planed for the expansion but that dosent make me feel any less neglected in the mean time
its pretty much copy paste work to get sab running again and would have satisfied alot of players at this particular time with all the sab hype and riots not to mention the player drop off
of course some would still have droped out if they had no interest in replaying sab personaly ida loved the chance
While many people want SAB to return, it’s a lot more work than just copy and paste. Unless they released just the world 1 and 2. Which would upset more players than it would please, as they want world 3. Accusations of being lazy would abound, and no one would be hapy with a re-release of what they already did. Many people were upset about them relaunching Halloween and Wintersday.
So, again, they won’t put off development of the expansion to re-launch SAB. They’ve already said they would like to bring it back, but its low priority right now.

I think this is the only response you will recieve about your situation. Such things are not allowed and strictly prohibited.
Anet may choose to be lienient, but such things can certainly result in a ban for all participating members.
Good luck!
The article you quote also forbids guild auctions, guild sweeps and several other guild activities that are used by many guilds. So it is a little bit silly to use this argument. Yes, you are right that this will be ArenaNet’s answer. But that does not make it a good answer.
Not necessarily. Being a third party organization (charitable or otherwise) using unofficial channels to facilitate the transfer of in-game currency and items would certainly fall under that article. However, guild events and awarding prizes for in-game activities would be acceptable. In the end though, it’s up to Anet to decide whether or not such things should be, or not be, allowed to continue.
I don’t see the problem with AFK’ing near the chest.
~ I don’t believe you get the event rewards without opening at least some of the chests. I could be wrong as I’ve never AFK’d in there before, but I assume you need event credit and I assume to get credit you need to open chests (I’ve opened one chest before and gotten bronze, I believe).
~ You’re automatically forced out of the area once the HD closes, so its not like people can literally just camp the chest forever. Even if you log-out at the chest location, you’ll never know the right time to log back in and not have the Depths closed.
~ You can’t open the chest without keys, and you can’t get keys while AFK’ing near the big chest
Yeah, like I said, I don’t know if there is much they can, or even will, do about it. But I just find it irritating when someone kites 2 dogs in, and they kill everybody, and me, while I’m trying to get the chest. I suppose its more of a player thing than anything Anet can do about it.
its hard to make a complaint when your unhappy about it without coming off like a whiny kitten coz your often expressing your frustrations witch are hard to verbalize in a clear way when your coming from that position
sry if my post sounds a bit like that its not relay my intention i mainly wana discuss it rationaly with players and bring it to Anets attention in the hope they take note and do something
And what would you like them to do?
Give a date? Reduce work on the expansion and work on free content? Make wild promises they can’t keep to placate a few people? (who incidently asked for this very thing.)
You, like a large percentage of the playerbase, seem to be under the impression that the Greater Nightmare Chest changes depending on the current tier of the event. Having spent many, many keys, I have never seen anything to suggest this. If it were to be the case, it would be mentioned in the event description or at least change its own name to “Greater Nightmare Chest (Tier I),” “Greater Nightmare Chest (Tier II),” and so on.
I stand corrected. However, the event rewards do increase for higher tiers. And the event description does reflect which tier.
But even so, if you are actively helping get to the higher tier rewards, you shouldn’t be punished by not being able to get the chest at the end. And you shouldn’t be rewarded for just standing AFK in the corner near the chest.
The hounds go into that room because they’re still following someone. I’ve sat in that room several times and not once has a hound come in on it’s own and go straight towards me.
True, but when there are a bunch of AFK people, the hounds like to stick around, and stay in if a new person comes in. This makes it very hard to even get to the chest.
Hard to give a release date that they don’t have yet. Any date the give you would be an estimated guess at best. Then if they had to push that date back because it wasn’t ready yet, people would still complain about dishonesty, blah blah.
They can’t win either way they go. Still, this is pretty standard for Anet. Once we get through beta, they’ll have a better feel for when it should be ready and we’ll see a release date announced. Just have some patience.
“But I paid for the game and funded them to make the expansion! I am the customer! I am always right! They need to release it now! And if they don’t they should go back to releasing free stuff like they did before!!!! Until the release it I’m going on strike. I won’t buy gems or log in until they give me what I say!!! If they don’t at least tell me when it’ll be ready I’ll complain until they do!!! But if it’s too soon, then I’ll complain that they did a horrible rushed job!!!! I am right!! Anet needs to listen to me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”
This is why I am glad I don’t work in customer service anymore….
I love this map. I love the events, I love the loot, I love the Hidden Depths (aka. Pacman).
However, I feel that Hidden Depths, needs a bit of tweaking.
1.) The start of HD seems a bit off. It starts at 15:55 on the time out counter. This is just odd to me. I can understand the need to not have it start right away, for people can have a little bit to get together and organize a little bit.
2.) Too many AFK at the chest causing dogs in run in and wipe everyone. This is just irritating and I don’t know if there is much anyone can do about it.
3.) Not enough time to get chest in higher tiers. I’ve gone to T3 a several times, but if you are not AFK at the chest, good luck being able to open it. Did a T4 once. And had 2 seconds left of Time Out to get the chest before you were kicked out.
So my suggestions:
1) Extend “Time Out” by 2 min. (20 min. instead of 18 min.) and start HD at 18 minutes. Also, make the annoucnement that the event is opening, and have the animation to open it start at 18:05. So you can jump into the maze right at 18 min. (it takes about 5 secs from the annoucement, till the time you can actually go in.)
2.) Less rewards for afking. If you want to get the good loot, you have to open at least 1 chest per tier. This wouldn’t stop anyone from afking after they nab the one chest, but it might hinder it if people are getting less loot from it just by afking and drawing in dogs to hinder anyone else from getting inside.
3.) After the event ends, give players and additonal 1 min, without the dogs and additonal chest, to be able to collect the chest in the middle. This only applies to those who are inside when the event ends, and have opened at least 1 chest for that tier. No one else can get in after the event has ended.
I think these suggestions aren’t game breaking, but still allow those who have worked toward getting to T3, or T4 in The Hidden Depths be able to collect their reward. Also it prevents AFKers and Leachers from profiting off the work of others.
The wiki says he is god of fire, with his 2 fiery hounds and himself quite fiery.
But what determines or shows Balthazar to be god of fire, except from some random NPC lines and scrolls? There is 1 historical event i found on the wiki which is the following line
“Balthazar came in fire and wrath, carrying the head of his father and leading his fierce hounds, Temar and Tegon. He swept Orr with a cleansing flame.”
Is there anything else associating Balthazar with fiery, or should i just accept it.
All the information we have on the gods is from random NPCs and scrolls. Thats pretty much how in-game lore works. If the NPCs in-game are saying, you find some books/scrolls in-game saying in, than you can pretty much rest assured that what they are saying is accurate.
Although there has been a case (can’t remember off the top of my head) where an NPC was wrong, and what he said contridicted some other things discovered through other NPCs/books/scrolls, but that seemed to be a special case. (I know it involved an old Jotun, but can’t remember who are what exactly.)
The Jotun storyteller in Hoelbrak?
I think thats the one…
There was some doubt as to the validity of his stories, as other information from other sources in-game revealed different information.
There is also this: When the world has the Favor of the Gods, statues of Balthazar light up with flames burning along the base, and the eyes burn brightly.
While he is both, I personally see Balthazar more as a god of war than a god of fire.
Agreed.
It seems while being a god of war and battle, that he is represented by fire/flames. As such imagery conveys destruction and consuming. Which is pretty much what war is.
