It’s the chain I beat you with until you
recognize my command!”
As I asked in the other thread.
Why are some people (Astral, Fleshwound, etc) so opposed to having Anet look into this? What do you personally have to lose if they look into this.
And yes I know they looked into this before, however I’d like them to look into DR as well. And of course the game gets new bugs every patch so it could easy have been working well “before”.
I don’t really expect a response. I think at this point they are here to derail the thread to make it close. Everyone has heard your points over and over. This still doesn’t dimiss the fact that there COULD BE a problem.
It is possible there could be a problem, but I haven’t seen any evidence to suggest that there is a problem.
Sorry I know you haven’t read the other threads. But there is no way to gather evidence to show this isn’t problem. If you want to suggest something go ahead but I’ll easily be able to pick it apart to show you its not possible as there’s too many unknown variables. So the argument goes that those saying there could be a problem have to show evidence. When you can’t show any valid evidence because we don’t know enough to run any tests that would give us valid data.
And what makes you think that I haven’t read the other threads?
Of course there is no way to gather evidence that shows it isn’t a problem.
And there is no way to gather evidence to show that it is.
However, I have no reason to believe that RNG is broken, and in some way favors certain accounts over others. Why do some people get multiple precursors, while others get none? The moon was full on a thursday the month before and the stars are aligned to their astrological sign. Plus they happened to be playing Barry Manilow at a volume setting of 11 when the wind was blowing 4 knots to the east?
I think it really comes down to human nature. It is within our nature to think that some force is acting against us when things don’t go our way. Many use religion to try to explain that. “The devil is attacking me!” or “God doesn’t want me to have it”. “The flying Spaghetti monster is mad at me because I didn’t like a post on facebook” or whatever it may be.
So those of us with lots of play time haven’t yet seen the particular items we want, tend to look for an explaination as to why that isn’t happening. “RNG must be broken.” “I didn’t spend enough money on gems this months” “I have an unlucky account thats been flagged to control the precursor market” etc.
As I asked in the other thread.
Why are some people (Astral, Fleshwound, etc) so opposed to having Anet look into this? What do you personally have to lose if they look into this.

3) Golem owners should be able to kick people inside them. Why
Kick from own siege works for all siege alredy; why not also for the expensive golems?
That makes sense. I’ve always wondered why it wasn’t so
9) Limit N° of rams deployable x gates. Why:
Siege wars should be based on strategy, not on mindless bruteforce ram spamming.
Bruteforce ram spamming is a legitimate strategy. If you have the means why shouldn’t you be able to do it? If the idea is to take the keep/tower, wouldn’t it make sense to do so in such a way that limits the amount of reenforcements that can respond? If you can quickly overwhelm the defenses, then the defenders don’t always have enough time to react and mount a solid defense.
See: Blitzkrieg
(The idea is to completely overwhelm the enemy quickly)
I can agree with most of the other points, but these are the ones that stuck out the most to me.
lol this reminds me of warning pop ups before missions in GW1. Are you sure? Are you sure you’re sure? You’re positive? Ok then….
Annoying then, mildly entertaining now (to think about).
The problem I see with having some sort of “shut off” for these messages is you just know there is going to be someone that shuts it off “unintentionally”. Then accidentally salvage something that they didn’t want to / intend to but they didn’t get their silly pop up get out of jail free confirmation to warn them. Then they are going to come on here and complain.
I’m sure you’re correct but I think the amount of people that would appreciate this far outweigh the few who would accidentally salvage their rares unintentionally.
I wouldn’t be so sure about that. With the copper fed and silver fed salvage-o-matics it makes it far easier to mass salvage an inventory full of loot. I can’t count how many times I’ve accidently clicked a rare or exotic when using it.
Yeah it’s an annoyance, but it keeps me from accidently salvaging that rare I was saving for the forge…
The absence of the anti-duel posts here makes me think that veterans have simply left the forum (and the game) since there’s completely nothing to do there. Here’s "my summary of the previous 999999 threads on dueling
It’s not that we aren’t here. We’ve seen the same thread 999999 times, and seen the same arguments for and against 999999 times. There is nothing new to say. There are those who want it, and those who don’t. There will never be a consensus on the issue.
Now excuse me, I need to go wait for the “Mounts” thread that is sure to come up about this time…it’s been awhile since theres been one, and it’s about time.
The best thing to do would be to wait until this change actually happens. If your build truly is broken, then you can come back here and create a topic stating how broken your build has become and how you have to replace every piece of gear because your old build is completely unsalvageable. Then you will have other people who also have broken builds that can join your cause to get a refund (which will likely not happen).
Best of luck to you. Hopefully they do not break your build and invalidate your gear!
The thing is that there isn’t a single build that cannot be used to complete any content in the game. Heck you can even do all content without any traits at all. (I’ve done it. Reset traits, and forget to reassign them.)
But gear will actually be getting a buff. They will increase the stats on gear to account for stats no longer being part of the trait lines. Also gear has little to do with builds. You can go do a full support and defensive build using beserker gear.
The question is why would Anet refund you for your gear?
Is the gear suddenly not going to work?
Are they removing certain stats on gear?
Will you be required by the game to use only a particular gear set?
(i.e. unable to enter the new map unless you have a full Rabid gear set)
As far as I can tell, each and every piece of gear will still work, and do exactly what it’s supposed to do.
Nothing is changing, so why should anyone expect to recieve a refund/stat re-roll?
You may bring up MF gear that got a re-roll. Well the reason was that they removed that stat from the game, and change MF in general. Which lead to all the MF gear that people were using being broken. It was missing a stat. So they gave the players the option to change the stats on the gear to account for a stat that was no longer available.
None of that is happening with the expansion, so why would they allow to re-roll or give refunds for gear?
It’s pretty clear OP is just another person who farmed a beta portal and didn’t get one and is now mad about it so they lash out at every other thing they can find.
I play every single day because I have more fun on this game than any other game. In fact this is the only game I’ve ever got to max level on, because I typically get bored. I think they’ve succeeded in making a fun game. It isn’t perfect but it’s fun.
The OP apparently has a bone to pick with Anet. He has started several threads all with the same theme. Going back 3 years and picking about interviews and quotes, and putting them back together with their interpretation as to how they have lied, and are basically dishonest.
The OP is just trying to stir upon dissent and nothing more.
First:
•“Fun impacts loot collection. The rarest items in the game are not more powerful than other items, so you don’t need them to be the best.”
And now we have ascended gear, which is far from being common and is definitely grindy; and legendaries being at the level of ascended, so they are indeed more powerful than most of the stuff in the game."
Loot implies that it is related to drops. Also do you need Ascended/Legendaries to be the best? No. Can you complete any and all content with exotic gear (which are obtained multiple ways other than reliance upon drops)? Absolutley. The only thing the REQUIRES ascended is high level fractals. However you can still do and experience all that fractals have to offer (up to level 10) with exotic gear and nothing more.
I could go one, but I won’t. This is simply nothing more than an “Anet lied” thread, by taking what was said 3 years ago and applying it to things that don’t relate at all.
Fun is subjective. I still play nearly everyday because I find it fun. Others don’t and thats ok.
Ultimately this thread is non constructive and only serves to push the agenda that Anet has lied. This topic has been discussed at length many many times. It only serves to inflame the community, and not actually offer anything of value to the game, or to the developers.

Asking for better AI coding isn’t asking to be similar to other games, it’s asking to raise the standard in order to match those games.
…
You don’t want something new and challenging?Do you think you are special and the first to think about that? You are in the dungeon subforum. Most people here solo dungeon for the last year, some even 2 years. We ask for more challenging content for a long long time, with more developed idea than : oh Anet just have to give better AI coding.
I’ve typed very specific and comprehensive suggestions over the last few days bro. It is probably 50 pages worth through the forums. And inline many others, I am offering to actually do some behavioral AI coding for Anet if they will let me see the code.
Yeah, not going to happen.
However, you can always apply for a job at Anet, and fix all the things wrong with min/maxing, stacking, AI behavior, etc.
Well it ensure all the AoE circles have the same central point and outward radius. That causes maximum damage output in the smallest area.
Not really. AoE is generally targeted. Plus it does the same amount of damage on the outside of the circle as the inside of the circle. Plus the outward radius is different per AoE. And there are traits that increase the size of the AoE, so none of the AoEs are really static in size. Overlapping or concentrated AoE can actually cause problems with blast finishers. There is a priority as to what gets blasted first in over lapping circles.
However it is true that you want to focus your AoE on where the target is, or going to be, but other than that, it doesn’t really matter where they are, as long as it’s on target.
It is allowed to skip everything that isn’t required to complete the dungeon.
Kholer is an optional boss, although many people like to do it because it opens up a waypoint, and is an extra champ bag.
I believe the gravling after the spider queen is also optional.
Other then that the only objectives you need to complete are the ones that progress the story. Everything else can be skipped.
Stacking is just the same. Players find the specific spot that the AI can’t seem to get a good aim lock on, then we stand there invulnerable while the boss gets killed by our spells.
That my friend is the definition of cheating
You do realize that the boss can still kill everyone in the party regardless of the stack or not right? Depending on the party make up there is Aegis been thrown around, AoE healing and healing blasts, blindness for days, and all sorts of boons and blocks. So it lessens the chances of a party wipe. Even within stacks, 1 or 2 players still get downed, but are rezzed quickly. Heck, I’ve seen stacks wipe before. Stacking doesn’t make you invulernable. It also allows the bosses to be burnt down quickly so they don’t have time to launch their uber powerful attacks of doom, or at least not more than once.
There are also several bosses where stacking will get you killed.
Using the mechanics, and having the knowledge of the boss, isn’t cheating. It’s being smart.
Were the Romans cheating when they used the “Turtle”? (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Testudo_formation)
The close order formation was used widely until the advent of guns and gun powder. This was essentially stacking close together and forming shield walls.
It’s a legitimate tactic.
As far as the table top example. Yeah, not so much. Stacking and completely removing your piece from the playing field are two very separate things, and not really related. I’ve used stacking tactics in tabletop RPGs. Sometimes it makes sense to fall back to a defensable position and stick close together
Derenek:
Touching story about the Ranger never having run the dungeons before…
Now, back to reality.
What did you put in the LFG? What was the decription of the LFG you joined?
Those who quit, probable had better things to do than teach someone new. How come you didn’t teach the ranger, or give him some pointers?
Stacking wasn’t the issue here. The issue seems to be that no one was willing to teach, or explain what was going on. There seemed to be a huge lack of communication.
So yes, lets do something to remove a valid tactic and way to play in favor of something far less effecient because we don’t want to take the time to teach someone new the ropes. [/sarcasm]
Honestly guys, that is a bit on the extreme fanboy side. The game isnt perfect, and if you get offended by people making suggestions or asking for changes… Its pretty clear why the devs dont bother taking suggestions with a forum that acts this way.
It’s not about making suggestions or asking for changes. I am sure nearly everyone would like to see updates and changes to the dungeons. That much is very clear.
However, suggesting that Anet change/update dungeons so that it caters to your specific preferred method of play is not the right way to go about it.
Instead of “Get rid of stacking” Maybe try something like “Change current boss mechanics so stacking no longer works in favor of the party.” or something along those lines. Even if things were to change, there still would be a “Meta” way to run the dungeon. As it is, stacking and skipping is acceptable according to Anet. The dungeons were designed so that players could clear everything, or skip most everything. Or some mix of the two. Which allowes for players themselves to decide how they want to run the dungeon. It doesn’t force anyone to use certain tactics, or certain builds, or whatever. Anet isn’t forcing anyone into stacking. The players are.
The serpent in the Garden of Eden however was (as far as I know), in the text that Hebrew tradition contributes to Moses who wrote Genesis, and that was almost one thousand years after Gilgamesh.
A bit off topic. But concerning Moses and the Writing of Genesis.
While Hebrew/Jewish tradition does hold that Moses wrote Genesis long long long after the events themselves, there are some who believe that while Moses was on Mt. Sinai communing with God, and recieving the Ten Commandments is when he recieved that information. During that time Moses asked to see Gods face. God told him that he couldn’t see His face, or he’d die. So God showed him His back instead. It was when Moses saw the back of God, he was actually looking backwards in time, and was able to witness those events himself.
Of course it’s just a theory, but interesting nonetheless. However, the Epic of Gilgemesh was certainly written a long time before the book of Genesis, and in the order of written works, it’s usually the earliest that takes precedent. (At least in historical matters)
Oh wow, that’s interesting! I’ve never heard of or seen the “God’s back” story beyond the one verse about it in Exodus. It doesn’t appear to exist in the modern Old Testament versions. What’s the source for that, if any?
The part about seeing God’s back is in Exodus 33:21-23
“21 Then the Lord said, “There is a place near me where you may stand on a rock. 22 When my glory passes by, I will put you in a cleft in the rock and cover you with my hand until I have passed by. 23 Then I will remove my hand and you will see my back; but my face must not be seen.”” (NIV)
As far as the rest, it’s just a theory, and not a very popular one. I can’t remember where I read it, it was a long time ago. But even so the idea itself actually makes sense. But enough Bible study, as much as I like the topic, it’s better left to somewhere else and not the GW forums :P
Guys, I know this post sounds stupid and flippin hippie-dippie love and all that, but, we need to treat our developers better. When they don’t give us feedback, its because of the hostile flaming thrown at them. When they don’t nerf builds, its because everyone gives bull reasons and not many logical facts in a polite manner. Just be nicer to Anet and good things will return to you.
-Have a nice day.
I agree with this.
Many of the posts talking about bug/issues/problems that need to be addresses are usually along the lines of “Get you kitten together ANET! You guys suck!” There are few posts that accurately describe the problem, and offer viable solutions.
If it was me, I would see the former types of posts, and promptly ignore. I wouldn’t respond, I might look into the matter, but I wouldn’t invest any more time or effort than absolutely needed. Because why would I want to make sure a group of people that have voiced their absolute disgust and hatred with me and my work were happy?
If there was input of the latter, where it was good feedback, well put, and not an angry rant insulting me and my intelligence, I would be more inclined to actually work on getting said issue fixed.
“But thats their job!”
Yeah, but having been in customer service for a very long time, those customers who may be unhappy, but are polite and respectful get more of my attention than those who come up and start yelling and demanding things. Those people are barely worth my time. I’ll help them, but I’ll do it in the least efficient way possible, and do the absolute minimum.
It’s ok to be frustrated. It’s not ok to rant and rave and tell someone that they suck at their jobs and should be fired. There is a difference.
Just started the game few weeks ago and been doing the world bosses as I find them for my level but I always get bronze for my effort, Even if I join a group it seems. Is this a L2P issue or is it because I’m not 80 leveled down like most of the people there? Thanks for your time.
Your ranking depends on how much damage you do. As a lower level, especially with down leveled 80’s doing the boss, it’s going to be tough to do the “gold” amount of damage if the boss drops too fast.
All in all I wouldn’t worry too much about it. You get experience from just about everything, so leveling up isn’t that tedious.

I am not sure about that site though…
They also sell gold, which leads me to believe that it’s not entirely legit.
But thats just me.
If you feel like it you can certainly pre-order it from there, but don’t be surprised if you get screwed over…
Three days after hell freezes over…
seriously though, best guesses put in sometime in August, as thats the 3rd year aniversary of GW2. Other than that, it’s all just guesses and speculations.

Okay guys, you won. I see your point of view. If something annoys other players, but doesn’t really affect me, it should stay the way it is. That’s fine.
And I agree, I did exaggerate with that one. I don’t feel like I exaggerated with how pointless cripple on hyenas is though. You didn’t really convince me of the necessity of this mob having it. It doesn’t make much sense. Your arguments are “learn how to dodge”, which doesn’t make much sense neither.
But that’s fine too. I guess I will really have to change maps.
I also find the cripple annoying. However asking it to be removed because it’s annoying is just silly. It’s something that is easily dealt with.
As far as why they have it. Why not? It forces the player to actually have to deal with it. You can either avoid althogether, dodge, or cleanse it. It adds a bit of a challenge, or at least something to be overcome. It wouldn’t make sense to have useless mobs that don’t really do anything (i.e. special mechanic, condition applied, etc.).
Please remove cripple from hyenas. You already get slowed down when they hit you anyway. It’s just frustrating. Even on my warrior using “Charge” I just can’t stand it.
I don’t know what’s the point of this. Is it to annoy players? Because this is in no way challenging. It’s just frustrating.
Maybe there are some players who enjoy getting crippled every 1 or two minutes while running on the map. Maybe they’re even really into getting pushed back by randomly spawning teragriffs when they try to open chests. I personally don’t and I hope the majority doesn’t enjoy it neither.
Wut?
Its one of the hazards of being in the zone.
Might as well remove all mobs from all zones, except champs and bosses, because a majority of time they can’t be bothered with. They should also remove the ogres from Fields of ruin, because the immob and knockdown is annoying when I’m trying to do the ogre wars event. Also remove the risen from Orr, especially annoying when trying to do the champ train.[/sarcasm]
Really? Remove a skill from a mob in a zone because “it’s annoying and interferes with my chest farm”? Yeah no. Dodge, kill them, cleanse, and move on. It’s not that big of a deal, unless of course you think that you are a special snowflake that needs to be catered to because of a slight annoyance… (not you OP specifically, just in general.)
Coming from Anet, Zhaitan, the elder dragon, is a name based on arabic that referred to Satan.
Zhaitan is based on shaitan, meaning “astray” or “distant” in Arabic.
Satan means “adversary” in Hebrew.
Either way, both of those names/titles don’t have anything to do with dragons or serpents or anything.
@glock.6590: Flaming always tells you about someone’s opinion, just in a very rude way.
Anyway, frow my point of view, in this case it is certainly flaming.
“Flaming is a hostile and insulting interaction between Internet users, often involving the use of profanity.” (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flaming_)
There was nothing in that interaction that implied or suggested anything hostile, or insulting.
They asked a legitimate question. Now if for whatever reason you decided to take offense at the question asked is an entirely different matter, and has nothing to do with the question they asked.
Where did Tyrians get the word ‘dragon’ from? In our world, the term is nigh universal and almost infinite. The earliest use of the word is ancient greek, but even the Chinese and Norse had equivalents—all of the words: drakon, draco, etc, point to a large serpent. Theoretically, the origin of the word “dragon” in our world comes from the Biblical story of Satan.
Tyrian Humans have no such history to rely on. Yet the word ‘dragon’ is also universally accepted by every race in Tyria. No races ask, “what’s a dragon?” Where did the word come from?
The origin of the word “Dragon” doesn’t come from the Biblical story of Satan.
Satan is Hebrew for Adversary.
The being in the Genesis story is that of a serpent. Of course the narrative seems to point to said serpent being able to speak, and with its being cursed, was forced to crawl on its belly. Which would imply that said creature was capable of speech, as well as had leg/arms as well, which of course is indicative of what is known of dragons. But the term itself is never used.
The few times the word “Dragon” is used is in Isaiah: In that day the LORD with his sore and great and strong sword shall punish leviathan the piercing serpent, even leviathan that crooked serpent; and he shall slay the dragon that [is] in the sea. (Isaiah 27:1) and Revelation.
The term dragon itself (at least in english) actually comes from the french, and in turn from latin and greek.
“The word dragon entered the English language in the early 13th century from Old French dragon, which in turn comes from Latin draconem (nominative draco) meaning “huge serpent, dragon,” from the Greek word ??????, drakon (genitive drakontos, ?????????) “serpent, giant seafish”. The Greek and Latin term referred to any great serpent, not necessarily mythological, and this usage was also current in English up to the 18th century." (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dragon)
However, going back to Tyrians and language. Humans are not native to Tryia. From what I understand is that they were brought to Tyria from somewhere else. So it is very possible that the earliest humans on Tyria brought their language with them, and in time the language evolved and become more distince with each culture. (i.e. Krytan, Orrian, Ascalonian.) However, such ideas and certain terms would have remained. Much like Latin and Greek. They have influences and certain words in many languages that largely remains unchanged. (i.e. Video, Audio, etc.)
Although I would say don’t over think it.
You can always send it to me!!
Legendaries are really only skins, and the ability to swap stats.
You could also go get the treasure hunter achievment…you have enough gold to buy almost everything. And the one piece you would need is from an event thats bugged. But if you log in right at reset you’ll be able to get it.
People focus on the negatives too much, what about the positives in finding new friends or winning more matches?
Sometimes I wonder if people go through real life without talking to anybody because they’re scared of too many things. I get some people are shy, but you eventually need to be able to talk to people in the world. There will always be annoying and rude people, but there will always be nice and helpful people too. You just take the good with the bad.
There is that too of course. However, the negatives far outweigh the positives. I can win matches, and make friends without in-game VOIP.
As far as not talking to anyone in RL. I don’t talk to many. I purposly avoid people, groups specifically. I have a touch of PTSD and some anxiety. Put me in a group of more than 5 people, and I’m looking for an escape and what would be the best way to take out that dude by the door.
So I should just “deal with it” and put myself in situations where I could have a panic attack, nervous breakdown, or hurt someone? Because there might be some “good” people in the group? Yeah don’t think so.You should probably get some help if you’re that bad. I used to be pretty shy also, but I got over it. I wouldn’t even enter PvP or WvW, but now I’m rank 80 and over rank 2400 in WvW and was in a great GvG guild.
I don’t think using extreme cases from either side is very useful, like saying it’d make PvP perfect or that every shy person in the world will have a heart attack. It’s just a suggestion, people can like it or not, they can give reasons for it, but if everyone tries insulting the other side about it because of their wants and needs that’s just useless. For instance saying not everyone is comfortable is fine, but to keep elaborating and going on about how people like you should suffer and have a heart attack is a little extreme. But some advocates of VOIP do the same thing telling people to suck it up and they’ll be fine and it’ll make PvP amazing, so you just have to weigh the average of both sides.
I don’t have a problem with PvP or WvW. Thats not the point. The point is belittling people who have such problems, and they are REAL problems, is not the right way to go about it. Your basically saying (not you specifically…) “I don’t care about your or your issues because I think being able to communicate with my team is more important than you.” That alone is not in the spirit of teamwork, or an inclusive community.
“Just deal with it” is one of the worst things you can tell someone with similiar issues. Even if it’s not to the extreme that I have. If someone is uncomfortable in any particular situation, why should they be forced to endure it?
As far as in-game comms is concerned. Many people get quite upset over people sending whispers and talking trash in chat. Which is part of the reason it’s a bannable offense. With voice comms, it makes it much much easier to do that. So those who don’t want/can’t deal with such things are told to either “suck it up and deal with it” or to mute it. Why should I have to alter my play, or way of doing things because some self important nimrod likes to yell at people? Or someone thinks they know the best way to do something, and if you do anything else you’re a noob and suck.
Threads like these only show it’s a PERCEIVED problem, not an actual, provable, fixable, problem. Perceived =/= real.
On the contrary, when you are a business serving customers, a perceived problem is a real problem. It may not be a technical problem or a computing problem, but it is still real in the sense that something you are doing is making your customers vocally unhappy, and it is most definitely fixable.
Just to correct, a perceived problem IS a PR problem, not necessarily a REAL one.
That’s exactly my point. In the business sense, it doesn’t matter whether the source of a customer’s dissatisfaction is “real” or “perceived,” you still have a dissatisfied customer, and telling them that they are just imagining things usually doesn’t make them any happier (even if it’s factually true).
To take an extreme example, it doesn’t matter whether Brand X apples actually contain poison, or if people just mistakenly think that they do, the result is the same. In that example, Brand X would be sunk pretty quickly if the executives responded by thinking, “We know for a fact that our apples are perfectly healthy, so there’s no reason to respond to those who wrongly think they aren’t.”
So your saying that Anet should respond to the cries that RNG is broken, and that there are accounts who believe they are “flagged” to either get good loot, or not get good loot?
The problem is that they have. Several times. Repeatedly. But no one wants to listen. There have been many responses to the effect of “They are lying.” “They aren’t going to tell us if its broken.” "Anets version of “working as intended” means that they don’t care, and those accounts who are flagged is part of the design."
So what else are they supposed to do?
Don’t like stacking?
Than don’t do it.
Put up your own LFG indicating NO stack, full clear, etc.
I’ve done no skipping/stacking runs before. They take FOREVER. Even when everyone knows the path and the major encounters.
Its the meta way to run dungeons, not because Anet said to do it, but because players discovered its far more effecient to do it that way instead of killing everything. Why remove something the players came up with because it doesn’t fit into how you like to play?

As far as not talking to anyone in RL. I don’t talk to many. I purposly avoid people, groups specifically. I have a touch of PTSD and some anxiety. Put me in a group of more than 5 people, and I’m looking for an escape and what would be the best way to take out that dude by the door.
So I should just “deal with it” and put myself in situations where I could have a panic attack, nervous breakdown, or hurt someone? Because there might be some “good” people in the group? Yeah don’t think so.
VOIP would be the worst addition to the game. Anyone who actually wants to use voice chat already does.
“worst addition”? WTH. Its communication with an easy mute option. So many over dramatic newbs.
Yeah, you pretty much confirmed what everyone has been saying that it would be an additional channel to rage/grief/harrass/insult
Or I demonstrated those who cannot take criticism. I’m definitely feeling for anet now. It’s like choosing a parenting model. Either isolate and put everyone in a safe bubble and coddle them or let them grow some thick skin.
“It is easier to build strong children than to repair broken men.”
-Frederick Douglass
So insulting someone who doesn’t share your opinon is now critisism?
But it’s ok to insult and harass people because they need a thicker skin?
By that logic Anet shouldn’t respond to chat harassment, offensive talk, direct insults, etc, because thats coddling their players, and not letting them grow thick skin.
But it’s ok to introduce another method for people to insult, offend, and harass people because people are weak, and need to grow up.
“But thats what the mute buttons for. Man up and deal with it, or mute it.”

Also look at chat as is. There is the block option, the filter option, and the option to turn it off completely. But just because we have those options, it doesn’t give anyone the right to insult/harrass/rage/grief someone. And in fact with those options, such behavior is still punished. So the argument that any rage/harrassment/insults/grief can be avoided by mute or blocking doesn’t really work.
Technically it’s illegal to share an account with members of the same household.
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/legal/guild-wars-2-user-agreement/
(b) Each Account may only be used by one person.
They also go into provisions for a minor (age 13-17) But thats the only time that an account may be used by another.
Whether or not Anet chooses to enforce it is up to them. Also, if your partner decided to spend all you gold or send it to their account, or whatever, because they were feeling contrary that day, there is nothing that CS can or will do for you.
Other than that I suppose you should just farm some more and get your own portal.
Good luck!
The problem with listing professions from easiest to hard is that there is difference between how hard a class is to play in theory and how hard it is to play in practice.
Warriors aren’t hard to play in concept. You land your bursts, stay alive, and use warhorn and shouts as needed. In practice though, surviving as a Warrior can take a lot of skill. Put a new player in a 30vs30 fight as a Warrior and chances are that player is going to die very quickly. The “skill” from playing a Warrior is being able to survive in a massive battle. Even in full Solider, a Warrior can go down in seconds if caught in the wrong spot.
Range classes, while not having the defenses of a frontliner, can generally just stand back and cast. Positioning and dropping your bombs in the right place still takes skill, but the pressure is usually less.
I find Ele a lot easier to play in T1 than a Warrior. If you get caught as an Ele you have both Lightning flash and Mist Form as “oh crap” buttons. Shout Warriors don’t have any real “oh crap” buttons and are required to be in the middle of the enemy all the time. Passive defenses only go so far when you have 30 enemies throwing fireballs and stuff at you.
Agreed.
I actually found my guardian much easier to play in WvW, whether zerg or small group roaming, than my ele, necro, warrior and ranger. It works nicely for backline support. But thats mainly due to the build I’ve chosen for him.
I’ve never thought of a computer program as really being capable of truly being random.
But even if it can’t it doesn’t really matter, because the program doesn’t have emotions and will just work the same way for everyone.
I said sufficiently random. I can’t predict what loot will drop, nor can anyone else. The “seed” has been confirmed not to be connected to account number, or age, or the height of your character or any other number that would permanently kitten any particular account.
The same complaints pop up every so often since the game was released, and if the system was bugged they would have found it by now. Nor was it secretly created to favor new accounts, old accounts, or people named Charles or whatever. As long as you vary your in-game activities to avoid triggering DR you have the same chance at getting a particular piece of loot as everyone else. Anet gains nothing and loses much if they deliberately cheat players out of pixels that are ultimately worthless anyway.
Good point, but about the seed numbers. We know thats its not tied to character or account number or anything but…(puts on tinfoil hat) what if it’s tied to the activation code? Apparently thats a randomly generated number as well, and some parts of that number if they fall in a certain range, it makes that accout more “lucky” than another account.
Just a thought….
You can always reskin it to something more appropriate. But i thought the ascended skins were red?
Well I’d hate to reskin an ascended that I worked for. I like the look, just not the color of the Soros blade.
Well you can always change it back too…the skin unlockes permently across your account.
You can always reskin it to something more Appropriate. Just look on the wiki, soros was part of “the shining blade” so it kinda makes sense that his weapons would be…well….shiny….

Is there a way to change the map shard you are on?
Trying to do orge wars, and it nearly always puts my on the same map (IP: 64:25:38:61:0)
This map the event is bugged.
I’ve tried to relog and WP to another map, and back. But still the same IP.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!
Tried to do foulbear the other day and it was over in less than 10 secs. The whole event. Foulbear dropped in 2 secs. Literally 2 seconds. The few of us that did the pre event barely got to the area before foulbear was dead
How can you run into that issue with Foulbear, of all events? The last pre-event is to kill the ogre champion and its devourer pet, which everyone present will want to do because they want the champ bag. After it dies, the game pauses for ten to fifteen seconds before the next event, during which the zerg of players present will run up to the location of the final event.
Once the final event starts, the players (if there’s a lot of them) need to kill 23 scaled veteran ogres. After all of them are dead, the final champion ogre chieftain will emerge from the back of the cave, taking several seconds to even reach an area where she’s vulnerable. And then, yeah, she’s going to get burned down hard by the players waiting for her.
But it’s impossible to kill the ogre chieftain two seconds after you finish the previous event, as you say happened. There’s a pause much longer than two seconds already between the two events, and then there’s the 23 ogres to kill, which even with a big group should take at least thirty seconds due to AoE caps and several ogres inevitably lingering around the edges of the room where they go unnoticed until the rest are dead, drawing the fight out.
Your issue is more notable with the Dredge Commissar, where the pre-events that need clearing happen to be quite a ways away from where the Commissar actually spawns. Fortunately, there tends not to be a huge crowd spawn-camping the Commissar, and its lengthy Dredge Blocks tend to draw the fight out, giving you time to waypoint and run over. I personally haven’t missed a Commissar kill due to going to clear the pre-events, but if I came to Dredgehaunt and saw fifty people waiting and camping the spawn while pre-events were needing to be done, I probably wouldn’t risk going to do them myself…
I dont know how, but it did. as soon as we activated Maybri, we ran with swiftness straight to the first champ. it was dead, and the vet event was almost over. Foulbear spawned and was killed. watched the health bar drop faster than ooc health regen.
Do we have any info on this event?
It only seems to spawn at reset only, then never again. This makes getting the Treasure hunter achievement near impossible. Any info would be great.
Thanks!
So I’ve been going after some end bosses after certain meta events. Specifically the Dredge Commissar, and Foulbear Kraal (when its not bugged). If you take the time to do those events, the boss spawns almost immediately. The problem is that there are many people camping out and farming those bosses, which is fine. BUT if you do the pre events to start those bosses, there are many times that you don’t get a chance at the end boss because it burns down so fast. Tried to do foulbear the other day and it was over in less than 10 secs. The whole event. Foulbear dropped in 2 secs. Literally 2 seconds. The few of us that did the pre event barely got to the area before foulbear was dead. I’ve seen the same thing on the Commissar.
Would it be possible to extend the boss spawn times at least 1 minute? It would give a chance for those who do the pre events to be able to partake in the final boss events as well. Thanks!
(Also, could we get some word on Foulbear, and the Krewe Leader Dobbs events? Foulbear does start occasionally, but its artificially inflating the price of Sam, and Dobbs simply never spawns. EVER. Which makes the treasure hunter achievement impossible. Thanks!)

ANet, after all, is a business. They don’t make money off of forum complaints and abuse alone.
If they did they would be the highest grossing MMO in the history of MMOs :P
Leo,
So the chief complaint is not being able to buy limited edition items from the gem store….
Which as you’ve said, has nothing to do with grind. Which in turn really has nothing to do with the topic at hand…
So you’re trying to troll then.
It’s your ineptitude that decided to focus on an aside that I directed toward a specific poster’s words, not really me trying to go off topic. But it does relate to the topic, if only slightly. There are different kinds of grinds, one being that I tend to have run ins with is the whole “daily login grind”.
Not trying to troll, just trying to get to the crux of your complaint. And as in your original comment, you brought up gem store items you wanted to “pull out my wallet and BUY (not grind) for the stuff they sell”
Which, carries the implication that stuff on the gem store can (in some sort of twisted way) be considered a grind. But the fact remains limited edition gem store items, in no way equate to a grind.
And there is no need for personal insults. Call it ineptitude, call it a comment that is specific to your situation, call it whatever you want. I was trying to understand the point that you were making. Which over all turned out to be “I miss the sales of certain items.” But that wasn’t exactly made clear in the comment.
As far as “daily login grinds”, how is that even a grind by any stretch of the definition? You load up GW2, press “Play” and you get a reward. Thats it.
People are reporting over 20 hours and several days of non stop farming. With magic find of over 500%.
guys remember that the problem is a lack of cultural variation!!! the lack of it results in robotic repetitive gameplay. all my hopes are in the expansion, in the PVP and guild aspects of the game are going to get a huge content increase. with guild housing and such, i hope that the cultural aspect of this game will deepen so i dont have to feel like a robot doing repetitive content.
the main idea behind this thread is me and many others disliking the robotic repetitive aspects of this game. culture will (I HOPE) expand, as guild systems become vastly more complex, PVP adopts more variation (1v1, 2v2, etc). yes of course this game has a buncha stuff for u to do….OBVIOUSLY IT DOES lol. that is NOT the problem. the problem is the lack of feeling that goes into these mediocre tasks, hence killing my intrinsic value towards these tasks. my individuality doesnt exist when i play this game due to lack of culture, lack of community, lack of everything that should matter in an MMO. at least single player games get you attached to the story and the characters in the game, this doesnt have any of that, nor has it ever expanded on its culture. having a guild in this game is a joke LOL. which is why i am waiting on the expansion. lol all you people do it repeat obvious things to defend your topic which in reality isnt even what i am talking about, your responses are completely objective and lack any form on critical thinking. as for those who understand the sentiment, thank you and yes i your point.
I tried to read your first post. But it was difficult to follow. But from what I get is that basically you are bored. You feel like a robot doing mindless tasks, and it’s not enjoyable (has intrinsic value). And thus, it’s the culture of the game that causes this.
You say there is no community, no culture.
RPers say hi. WvW players say hi, PvP players say hi. Dungeon tours, world boss tours say hi.A sense of community comes through communication, and relationships. You join a random guild with a bunch of random players who barely speak to each other, then of course there is no community. The expansion won’t change that, thats something the players themselves need to work out.
Culture. I am not sure what you mean. The player culture, or the world of the game.
Tyria is a vast and varied world, with all sorts of culture, history, and peoples. But it’s not thrown in your face, you have to seek it out.As far as the memorable characters, thats subjective. I love Tiami, Rox, Logan, Eir, Ogden Stonehealer, and even some of the unnamed priory explorers. Some people say it’s badly written, and cliche. But I enjoy them, and their personalities.
But going back to the loose connection to grind and feeling bored with the game. It’s really only through boredom, or some self imposed “need” to obtain a certain skin, or achievement, or amount of gold, is there the perception of grind. One person sees such things as a nicety, and optional, so it’s a farm. Others see it as a major goal in the game, and must be obtained at any costs, to them its a grind.
your right. regardless i still feel like everybody else when i play this game. just another grey blob walking around doing the same thing everybody else is doing. there is nothing for me to create my own path with, there is no freedom for me to create my own legend.
Have you looked into role playing?
From the sound of it, this is kinda what you are looking for but not sure how to define it. The idea behind RPing, is that you get to make your own legend, to forge your own path.
Either that or looking for more of a sandbox. If thats the case, GW2 may not be for you. And thats ok. There are plently of options available for you.
