Please merge these threads, its basically the same thing…I don’t know why 2 were started.
another thread, few posts in it explain the difference in necro life force.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/necromancer/Adrenaline-Decay-will-we-see-LF-Decay~snip~
Warriors can choose to use zerk stance, cleansing ire, inspire shouts etc, to gain adren in a few strikes but thats TRAITED and also it has a cd. The regular adren gain when a war hits is quite slow and would take ages without an outside source.
Not really. With no adrenaline gain traits or utilities, using axe/axe I can fill up adrenaline after using eviscerate (F1) in less than 8 seconds with axe 5, and auto attack. Heck I can even do it before F1 CD with just axe auto attack. Using GS? Hundred blades, almost instant adrenaline fill.

This is what I generally run, and have no issues with gaining adrenaline

My thought is: who do people play more as, a Warrior or a Necro? And, is there a reason for that?
Well for me, it depends on what I’m doing. PvE dungeons, events and bosses? Warrior everytime. They hit hard and fast, and can DPS down bosses very well. PvP/WvW? Necro. I found necros to have more survivability than warriors, more condition cleanses, and much better condition application. (Or maybe I just play a necro better than my warrior? I don’t know) Also especially in WvW, my warrior gets targeted down much faster than my necro. I guess people are more scared of a warrior, I don’t know. But with my necro, I can generally stay alive much longer, while I melt enemies with stacks of bleed. It’s awesome.
In any case, Death Shroud is one of the necros MAIN mechanics. Adrenaline, in my mind, is not the main mechanic for warriors. Its the ability to have decent amount of survivablity, while dishing out tons of damage in a short amount of time. Causing DS to lose life force out of combat kind of takes away from what makes a necro great. Yeah, I’m not ok with making you lose life force while out of combat. It just doesn’t make sense.
A wonderful story. I’ll add in a much lesser good deed that still meant a lot (and it helps that it was a good deed done by a large number of people):
Last night I was escorting a guildie through LS as she’s been away a bit and missed it. She didn’t even know what to expect in The Machine. So very late for us east coasters, gritty eyed and falling asleep, we got to the Frostgorge part, coming in while farmers were eking out champions. I asked if the event could be finished, there was polite discussion, and all agreed to not finish the one they were on but to do the next one aimed at finishing.
So a whole zerg dedicated a run to getting me and my guildie through that LS step! We were beyond grateful, but had to hop into the instance to complete it and then log out for bed; we could only say brief thank yous at the time.
Icing on the cake: Somewhere in one of those champ bags I got from doubling up on the event, I got an Ascended Rampager’s Chest Armor item. My very first Ascended drop ever other than fractal rings. I fell asleep happy
Thats actually really cool.
i hope both of them does not get banned by the auto ban system.
the auto ban system likes to flag such activities as “gold selling” and then bans people.
I hope not, because that would be bad. Also the dev posting on this, basically approving of such things it seems unlikely.
Aw that is lovely. Congratulations pdavis. You seem like a nice person from reading your posts so I would say the gifts have found a deserving home.
Once, in the bad old days of the Queensdale train a fellow participant posted a link in map chat to the Stardust bow he had just received as loot. I wrote back, ‘congrats’ or something similar. The next minute I received an email from the player gifting me the bow. Not quite on the same level perhaps but to me it was the most amazing thing that anyone could have done. I smiled for hours afterwards.
Thank you!!
Thats awesome!! Just reading all these stories is really inspiring me!! I think it’s awesome!! Keep em coming!!
Good work
Now do it all again!
LOL Right!?
No it’s time to take a break from grinding and gathering for a bit. Going to focus on WvW for now
:D Thank you all!! This is incredible!!!
Update:
I am on cloud 9 right now!! Was just gifted the ecto I needed to finish it. Thank you all so very much!!!! I cannot express just how I am feeling right now. As eloquent as I know I can be, I am totally speechless! For those who are feeling this game is full of jerks, trolls, and elitists: Fear not!! There ARE good people out there!
Thank you so so so so so so so so so so much!!!!!
…
Good point.
I also dont want some to see this as such a cry. I only want to celebrate my good fortune and honor those that do give generously, or give at all. Im not asking for anything, but want to shine the light on those who do want to give. Let this be their 15 minutes of fame. They know who they are, and that is enough..
I apologize if my statement seemed to make any sort of a parallel to you and your fortuitous situation. I meant my comment to be taken only as an informative warning to others who enjoy seizing an opportunity to help others, for them to be mindful that there are some out there that know there is kindness left in the world and that they will take advantage of it to their own benefit.
I applaud the gifter for their generosity and you for making such a generous act known to others. It is inspiring and refreshing to see one being so generous and I am very happy for you being the receiver of such a nice gift.
Oh no offense taken. I understood what you were trying to say. I just wanted to add on top of that, that some people, in light of what you were saying, might take my post as some sort of scheme to do just that.
Yeah. Ignornthem, theybarent worth your time. Was running a dungeon last night with some guildies, and 1 pug. Pug was getting all heated because I had to stop for a second to do something. I was maybe a few seconds behind the group, and dude was not happy about it. Just blew it off and finished the dungeon. Still had a great run, so dont let get to you. Thats how they get their powers.
Sometimes all people need is a little help. I remember doing the FSG champ train once, and this warrior was talking about how he only needed around 100 more gold to buy his precursor, hence why he was there, and that’s pretty much all he needed to finish. Well I deicide to give him the 100g, couple of weeks pass, and I see him again, but this time with Frostfang. I don’t think he really remembered me because he didn’t say anything. However it’s still nice to help people out.
Very generous of you!
However, be mindful of people who prey on the generosity of others. You want those deserving of generosity to be the ones to actually receive it.One example is of several people that do nothing but waypoint to every zone. Once in each zone they paste the item codes for a legendary into chat with a message saying they are only 8 gold away form making their legendary.
I’ve seen people making 300-600 gold in an hour doing this. They technically aren’t exactly scamming people and they are not directly asking for handouts or anything, but they plant that seed in the mind of generous players to want to help them out. 5 or 6 generous people send them 8 gold each to help them out, meanwhile they’re already in another zone sending their lie into the chat of that zone before heading off to another zone.
It’s another version of those people who would ask for 10 silver for their adept training manual every day for months, despite being level 2 and unable to use the manual and that the manual didn’t cost 10 silver.
I marked many of these vultures on my contact list as there are several that have been doing this for months. I track them so that if they come to the zone I am in and paste their false message, I can warn people in the zone of their actual intentions. I’ve stopped many from sending them gold who were about to without even thinking twice about it.
Reporting this player for scamming apparently doesn’t do much since I guess they’re technically not. ANet seems to see it this way since the same players are still doing this every day for months. :\
Just, be kind and generous, but be mindful that there are those looking to take advantage of such generosity…sadly.
Good point.
I also dont want some to see this as such a cry. I only want to celebrate my good fortune and honor those that do give generously, or give at all. Im not asking for anything, but want to shine the light on those who do want to give. Let this be their 15 minutes of fame. They know who they are, and that is enough..
Always have some faith in humanity, for the Six are good and reward charity.
. . . have none for the charr, for they have no gods. Rather, for the charr have trust you are not their next enemy.
Amen!
Didnt the charr have gods at one point? Or was it the titans the followed?
@filovirus
My ideas? Or berks ideas?
Im not against zerg/large groups, but there seems to be a strong distaste for them in general. I am just thinking of ways to favor both large group and small group tactics in such a way that each can play how they play, but have a bit more structure, instead of a grand chaotic melee.
I’ll chime in and say congrats. This is typical of the Guild Wars 2 community as a whole from what I see in my daily rounds: Players taking opportunities when they see them to make someone else’s day.
Are you serious?! Did you ever play the game ppl get kicked for not being zerk or being the right class or getting kicked for a free slot in fractals LOL
From my playstyle (pvp and pve) I have to say the GW2 community is one of the worst communities.
In pvp you get flamed for killing an enemy either its fair or unfair.
Another example is tequatl if it fails and / or some ppl on the cannons dont do it right you see much toxic too.So PLEASE don’t try to tell me the community is helpfull or whatever because that ain’t right, I played more than 2 years all kind of content on all kind of servers. Never have seen some helpfull ppl / the rate is kinda 1:20 so for every good / helpfull person there are 20 other ppl flaming and kicking ppl.
Its much easier to focus on the negative, because its a lot more open. You dont see the PMs or mails sent with gold, or items a struggling player needs. I think ive only seen a couple of threads my entire time on the forums with responses such as this one. Yeah there are trolls out there. I have seen very few in the game myself. But much of time it’s behind the scenes. The people who do such things don’t come on the forums to brag about it. And those on the recieving end, rarely come on the forums to give thanks for it. Its all done through PMs and mail.
Just in this thread ive seen several people who have done something, and came forward. Thats awesome!! These are Tyrias true heros. They arent after glory and honor. They want to see other people do well, and give them a hand. Just last night I had a player in a party in WvW who gave away about 500 ecto. Why? Because he could. Will he ever be publiclly acknowledged? Nope. And probably doesnt want to be.
They are out there, but not in the spot light. The trolls are there too, but most of what they do is to be seen, and recieve some sort of validation from doing so.
I dont think its about botters. From what I could gather is that the info for each item had to be retrieved from an outside location/server. So the errors would occure when the web based TP interface had issues communicating with that data base. Just like sometimes on certain web browsers (internet _cough_explorer_cough_).
@ RubiBayer
Thank you!! I am glad to hear that I am not alone when it comes to stuff like this. One day I’ll be able to return the favor!!
Also ii agree that its not about the monetary value, or a certain list of standards, but people helping people. Its awesome when a community, or a single person, can reachnout and effect somone elses life in a positive way. It gives me warm fuzzies just thinking about it.
Thanks again!!
Grats!!!
And yes, was gifted one recently. Tooth of Frostfang through the mail. Although it wasnt a transaction on my part, with those you should be careful if anything is supposed to be traded.
I’m pretty sure the bitter comments stem from jealousy and cynicism, and you should just ignore them. I think it’s an awesome thing someone did for you, and you have every right to be excited.
Yeah, thinking the same thing. And thank you!
Although it is just a virtual item after all that doesn’t have any value i guess you can say its the thought that counts. People limit them selves to things that don’t matter but grats sir and enjoy it.
“Value” is subjective though. “No RL life value” would be more accurate. However, this item to me, holds a real life value of an estimated 1500 hours. So those hours I saved can be better spent either in game doing fun things, now that this goal is almost completed, or out of game with my family and friends. (not saying I am going to quit, or anything, but after completing such a goal it does free up how I spend my time but in game and out)
While its true this is a virtual item, I wouldn’t say it doesn’t matter. What matters to one person, really doesn’t mean much to another. Take sports for example. Some people are REALLY into it. Are very much emotionally, financially, and have time invested into watching/tracking their favorite sports teams. For some, a paticular team is almost a way of life. In the long run, do sports really matter? After all it’s a bunch of people chasing around a ball. The same could be said about almost everything.
I am exicted. I am very grateful to the person who gifted this. Yes the thought and the gesture mean alot to me. Seeing someone, who without strings attached, helped someone achieve a goal is ALWAYS a good thing. Especially when that goal seemed near impossible to achieve.
No legendaries just have the same stats as a ascended weapon only looks better. Well most of them look better than exotics skins. It is a long term goal go for ascended weapons if you are unwilling to grind for a precursor.
Don’t need to grind for a precusor any more
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Faith-in-humanity-restored/first#post4366118
But I get your point. It is more of a skin/achievement thing than anything
@ Daniel
Yeah thats what I figured. Thanks!
How many people make up the persona John Smith?
So I am looking at legendary weapons, and noticed that they list a damage type. (ex. Frostfang: damage type: ice) Does this have any effect on how much damage is done to an enemy of the opposite type? Say, increased damage to fire based creatures (i.e Fire imps, elementals, etc.) Or does it just effect the death animation?
This has been a long time coming.
Positives:
- We can finally filter by profession!
- We can finally filter by back items?
- We can finally lose useless filters for gathering kits and toys?Negatives:
- I have a feeling basic actions will take more clicks to get to.
- While this is probably an improvement over the two-year old beta TP, I’m relieved but not jumping for joy for a “feature” that should have been released at the very latest months after launch. I’m sure the new design has more “improvements” than what we had been asking for, but it really isn’t that hard to change a web-based front-end to perform a different set of back-end queries. I have to wonder why they waited 2 years to release improved/relevant filters that would take a fraction of a day to code.
They are probably using some sort of mix between Perl, LISP, and Assembly…
Favorite: CoF
1. lots of mobs, and awesome battles.
2. Has an almost “hellish” feel, which is kinda cool.
Least Favorite: Aetherblade.
1. WAY too long, even longer then Arah.
2. The find the chests event at the end? Yeah no not so much.
3. Finding anyone willing to do the blasted thing.
I just completed my Daily Dodger achievement. Now I can tumble out of the way instead of stumble on my coat.
Seriously… I can’t think of any traditional Ranger or Thief who wears a trenchcoat. A cape/cloak sometimes, but not a trenchcoat. Seems reasonable for Engineers, perhaps, but I’m wracking my brain and can’t come up with any “traditional” Engineer figures in the world of fiction/fantasy.
Van Helsing strikes me as an engineer type. I thought he had a trench coat as well. But yeah I cant really think of anyone that fits into the “engineer” trope. Although there is more of the “engineer” idea that seems to be more suited to D&D, or Whitewolf games.
Don’t have the pointy hat. (Or sword and shield). Breanna Banana is a “traditional” bow Ranger for the most part.
Gotcha. Either way it looks awesome!
Wait….is that….Link!?
If you get your faith in humanity restored by getting random handouts of cosmetic/non-essential things that only benefit you personally, then we have very different perspectives on what humanity must accomplish to be worth believing in…
In a world where selfishness, pettiness, and lack of general respect are rampant, even such a small gesture by someone random is MORE then I could have hoped for. Especially on the interent, a place known for trolls, liars, and generally creepy people.
I am very touched, and grateful for even this small gesture. Far too often we forgot just how much of an impact we have on people around us. We forget how someones life can be radically changed in a good way by the simple act of a smile and a nod, or opening a door. I’ve seen it happen, and it is awesome.
However, you see things differently. Thats fine. But please don’t try to rain on my parade. This wasn’t a “look at me!!” but more of a “look at him!! he gave away a precursor!!”
p.s. This was a general statement more than a focus at any one/group of people.
Thanks guys!!!
Need a bit more ecto and my legendary will be completed!!
I look at this gift as more of an awesome form of RNG. If it was a random drop, or bought, I would still be as excited. This just makes it so I don’t have to farm for 6 more months, and hope to be blessed by the RNG gods during that time. This is awesome and amazing!!
“buy more gold” button shown in picture=tab to currency converter. Why have a whole system set up to be able to convert gems to gold, then skip that entire system to be able to buy gold directly? Doesn’t really make sense, and in fact seems that it would be counter productive.
A little logic never hurt anyone.
Yup. GREAT changes to the TP. Well done Anet well done. For all of those who are saying “we didn’t want this”, or “why not fix the other things!?” This is something that has been asked for time and time again. It’s awesome and amazing! Definetly looking forward to it!!
So awhile back, I posted a thread about ways to get a precurser. It wasn’t a QQ or rage thread about TP prices or RNG drop rates, but how the best to get it using a combination of gold farming, and the mystic forge. So after continuing to work on getting my Tooth of Frostfang, by doing dungeons, farming mats, etc. I recieved a PM as a response to that thread. A kind soul has graciously chosen to donate Tooth of Frostfang to me as a gift. As of last night I am a proud and grateful owner of The Tooth of Frostfang!
This is a shout out to you mysterious stranger!! Just wanted to again publicly honor and thank you for such an awesome gift. Thank you again kind and generous person. Such deeds often get repaid in kind many fold over. May you recieve blessings, and peace in whatever you do. Thanks!!!
Character collision what we need
That would actually be really cool! That way having tactics, such as front line heavies, would be much more effective as they wouldn’t be able to just dodge roll past and hit the lights.
I am just starting to get into WvW, and usually I’m running with a smaller havoc group, and although we do work together, have our tactics that we use, if there was a way to be a bit more organizedd, I think it would be that much more effective. I can see the down sides to having a “locked in formation”, but if there was a way to have a bit more organization and coordination in game I think it could be awesome. But that just relies on teh group you are with, and how they each play. I don’t know, just coming up with some ideas.

Did you divide by 0!?!?!
Grats that’s awesome!!!
How does one …. steal from their own franchise?
This.
@
Also,Guild Wars is called Guild Wars because of the lore, not because of GvG.@
Just imagine if they started a brand new lore in GW2 and it had nothing to do with GW1.“OMG WHY ARENT WE KILLING DAT DRAGON FROM EOTN ENDING CUTSCENE???? ARENANET IS LITERALLY HITLER "
10/10 post
would read again
Aaaaand godwins law.
More than likely it will be gear for your current level and not the PS level, and maybe some boosters or something. Maybe even some rares, or skins, or minis.
“When Evon Gnashblade is finally elected to the captains council, the BLTP is replaced by player to player trading, flying quaggens become the means for travel, and Tyrias heros begin dueling in the streets of Divinties Reach”
Thus spake the oracle, and his words were thrown to the ground and trampled upon by the unbeliever.
“When the QQ dries its ever flowing tears, the white knights are honored through out the land, and the trolls are once again driven beneath the bridges amongst the length and breadth of the land, then shall we know an expansion. And it shall bring peace and unity to the land for a time, and half a time.”
Again the oracle spoke, and his words fell upon deaf ears.
“Then the land shall once again be filled with trolls, the QQ will rain down upon us in a deluge, and the cries of the entitled once more arise to the heavens. The people will cry out for the expansion to save them, as it did once before, but the expansion will not listen. For it was foretold that an expansion alone could not save them, yet it had gone unheeded by the masses.”
The oracle then fell silent, saddend that his words were lost in the maelstrom of QQ, the white knights had vanished like shadows in the night, and the trolls reigned freely in the land.
Wow. That must be a ton of data.
Do you ever delete historical data or do you keep it backed up for.ev.er.? Heh
I hope so. I would hate to think that they follow the IRS method of data storage….. :P
Haha right? That’s an insane amount of data.
Archiving is one thing. Deleting data is a crime against humanity.
Amen brother!

Every time i ask for some changes about more skills or more GW1 like contend i
get the same answer.
“GW2 is not GW1 get used to it”
Well… i guess i have to live with that. But how comes that we get the lukewarm
stuff recycled from GW1 presented as something game changing……An example you ask ?
GW1 Eye of the North:
-Dragon pops up, having minions destroying the country.
-Group of people who could fight them have no interest being involved
-You bond group to fight the Dragon
-Defeat itrings a bell ?????
…Yeah, Dragonslayer (the movie)!!!… no wait… Flight of the Dragons!!!… no wait… Conan the Destroyer (well, was an ancient god instead of a dragon, but still)… no wait… Krull!!! (ok, ancient alien being)… no wait.. The Hobbit!!!.. no wait… Dungeons and Dragona!!.. no I got it… Record of Lodoss Wars…
Or did you mean The Wheel of Time series? Chronicals of Narnia? Or the Odyssey? Or many of the Greek/Roman myths? Or the battle of Thermopylae? What about WW2? WW1?
All these share the same theme/story. A small group/single person needs to convince/band together to fight off a greater evil. Whether it be dragons/gods/evil power or whatever. The theme is still the same. Thats not really ever going to change.
yeah something along those lines, if there are no more minis to discover
Are there still Mystic Forge Recipes/items that havent been discovered yet that are not recipe sheets for food feasts/pots/trays or recipe sheets for satchels/boxes of armor?
Does Zommoros still have some secrets up his djinny sleeve?
Yes.
I am assuming you are referring to this post.
However it doesn’t have to be something new, just a different way to aquire the item. As far as weapon/armor skins, I don’t know as I only have a small portion of them unlocked.
Wait, I thought everyone wanted GW2 to be more like GW1? Because apparently GW1 is a vastly superior game.
On topic:
Almost every fantasy story follows the same themes. A young person, through a rather unfortunate series of events, find out that they are “the chosen one”/have a special power or ability, must fulfill their destiny, etc. And in doing that, they go on their adventures, and find out, as special as thy are, they need to team up with a group of people in order to defeat an evil overlord/big bad evil guy, and in doing so they find out that said evil guy was being controlled/manipulated/worked for a more evil power/demon/sorcerer/really bad guy. But they soon find that their team is not enough so they must band a bigger army to fight them. Of course in the process of doing so, they have a bout with insecurity/weakness/temptation/bad hair day and must overcome it to continue. And in the end the good guys win, and the bad guy gets banished/destroyed/killed/consumed by his own evil, etc.
The point is that there are several fantasy tropes that are very often used in fantasy stories. It’s not copying and reducing the quality, it’s using a theme that is very familiar to the player/reader to tell a story in a way that the player/reader can relate to and understand. There are VERY few writers who were able to steer away from some of the more cliche tropes, but even then they still have some of the main elements that are present in any type of story telling.
Queen Jennah sealed parts of her soul in to mini dolls and handed them out to players all over the world. As long as even one Jennah survives, she’s immortal.
Also her nose is fake.
Wait, so the bunch of mini Jennahs I have are actually horcruxes!? NOOOOO!!!!!!
So I was thinking about how disjointed the story seems to be between the PS, season 1, and season 2. The PS revolves around the pact, season 1 was Scarlett, and season 2 is Mordremoth. But starting out season 2, is more of an epilogue of season 1. It is assumed you were there and know what happened. As a new player, I would be very confused. I wouldn’t know why Lions Arch was destroyed, why there are broken towers lying about, and who this Scarlett person was. So what about making a fractal to bring those newer players into the current living story?
So the current LS takes place after the PS, and after season 1. So if they were to include an additional story step as a “previously on….” it would make up for the “gap” in the story and provide continuity.
the fractal doesn’t need to be on a level with current fractals, but more along the lines of the Vision of Orr by the pale tree where we are given a synopsis of what happened in season 1, highlighting key points like the flame and frost, toxic alliance, the destruction of lions arch, etc. There could be maybe a solo boss fight, maybe some mobs or something.
So while the players are leveling, and going through the story, they see the changes that happened, see the wreckage of the nightmare towers, Lions Arch destroyed, but don’t really know what happened. And then starting season 2, they are more confused as the first part deals with Scarlett and tracing her origins. So if you were unfortunate to miss season one, you are kinda thrown into the middle with no idea whats going on, and need to search the internet, the forums, and blog posts to get caught up.
Adding in an additional step to transition from the PS to the LS, would provide continuity to the story, get new players caught up, and keep new player interested in the story. Right now it feels like we are missing several important chapters of a book. I know I would stop reading the book if I was missing that much information. Just an idea.

Rhea Brassmirror: I like it. It seems to follow the human surname tradition of a mighty deed, profession, powerful heirloom. But such surnames tend to lose their meaning and the origins of the name over times. But I still give it an 8/10.
Just a note on Badwell Jr. (like I said, he started out as a key run character I was going to delete but decided to keep. I will be changing it at some point to fit more into the “family”) I was thinking of something along the lines of Dael Badwell.
(edited by pdavis.8031)
True, but I wasn’t speaking on the seasonal minis that used the season mats. I suppose I should make that more clear. I was just curious as to whether or not someone was able to discover a recipe using a non seasonal mini and non seasonal mats. (like the stuffed ventari from the first winters day)
