Stacking is when players are close as in 360 range or less. You can stack both at range( “Guys 2 kill grubs and locusts 3 dps boss”) and in melee(“Kolher spin cuz u no stak right!”).
LoS-ing is using line of sight to stack the mobs. I guess you can consider it a form of stacking but it’s different than the general consensus for the word itself.
No stacking would mean a mix of range and melee with everyone hitting( or healing with negative dps) a different mob. Otherwise they might get stacked together by mistake.
Pulling in a smart fashion even without LoS can also get the mobs stacked. This includes but is not limited to temporal curtain, binding blades, line of warding etc.

If i recall correctly grenades are 3/4 direct and 1/4 condi. I might be wrong but it’s highly leaning towards power.
For hunter crusher you have to kill npc fast by letting her eat crusher’s hammer hit. After that there won’t be any bouncing shot to immobilize so hunter will have 3 attacks left: auto which is cripple(just ignore) and the poison field and the immobilize which look the same(he glows) and are always alternated. So basically you can know when to dodge.
Also never target hunter cause he dodges when targeted.
Have you tried/considered a decap build for ritual solo? I don’t have the time to test right now but I’ve been thinking about it for a while.

Cool. Glad to see decent pve engineers.
You can save a lot of time by skipping from start straight to hunter and crusher.
Probably undead slaying is better than battle sigil.

Mesmer, while far from optimal or even good, is very loved by pugs stuck in the 4 wars 1 reflect bot(guard/mes) meta. It’s extremely easy to play and highly tanky via active mitigation. You get invulnerability(almost) on around 9s cd. That’s insanely OP.
Elementalist. You’ll die a lot. Even if you’re super skilled, when situations get bad by wrong aggro or lack of reflects..you’ll be the first to die. You can survive more on d/f but that’s not cool to run in groups.
Engi is fun and great for pugs but you will get the ocasional “lol we 4 wars we can cap vuln on bosses” guys.
Warrior heroes are just the worst! If you can’t beat them, join them.

i’m selfish, play for my own entertainment, and my entertainment is maximising my own damage. idgaf about the rest of my party unless it’s a guild group or people I know – hell I only do banner b_____ in the rare times I run in guild because it’s just out of respect for the efficiency of the group.

i dunno. I feel like its probably ideal for easy content (so basically everything besides arah or pug fractals if they’re ranging), but if i’m doing things where i don’t have any faith in them surviving, then hell no am I running it.

This is why on guardian I go bane signet sys and retreat with 5/5/0/2/2. When they yell “guard y u no reflect?!” I’m all like “sry dps loss”.

Those are automatic heals automatic means one doesn’t have to press any buttons IE the imbalance. If one class has these options all classes should as far as traits are concerned if we are to believe that no class is left behind in combat or the idea that it doesn’t matter which classes we bring.

Well guardian can’t roll face on keyboard to apply almost every single condition in the game either.
Also absolute resolution has a very long cooldown for 3 condis removed. Engi gets 2 removed every 15s+passive from transmute. Yes, transmute is nothing impressive but it’s still something.

Warrior. It’s an obvious choice. People will blame guardians when they fail to dodge. I never saw a warrior being blamed for a wipe. Also you can have fun by pinging signet of rage when they yell for warbanner. That’s a priceless experience.
Either way people love to stack guards but especially warriors. You can get away with being the 2nd guardian but with warrior you can be the 4th one and it’s all cool.

First build: Elite supplies? Protection injection? Experimental turrets? Going deep into alchemy for 3 stacks of might is just lol. So is traiting for an elite that’s bad anyway. You might assume that the synergy is great because 6 might and some fury when you drop the crate. It isn’t.
Second build: Building around elixirs is a terrible idea. It’s not good in any game mode but it’s especially worse in pve.

I run experimental turrets all the time. Go back to nades d00d.

What the hell is wrong with protection injection? getting prot is bad????? lol ok.

So because you run them they are good? Top logic “d00d”.
How often you get cc in pve to justify it? It’s amazing in pvp. Right traits for the right situation. Same for backpack regenerator.
If i make a toolkit elixirgun perma kite build with cripple duration with 0 damage i get credit for trying?

Well in dungeons you go berserker. In open world boss adventures you can go pvt if the fps isn’t on your side since conditions won’t work and many of them are non-crit-able.

Melee damage is higher than ranged. For obvious reasons. Exceptions are engi grenades(harder to land from far) and staff ele. Not sure for the reasoning behind staff ele. Perhaps the lack of defensive skills. Probably that lava font and meteor shower are also targeted. Also you could argue that while longbow is lower dps than sword(by a very small difference), it’s way higher than greatsword assuming max range.

To the OP, I think it’s for numerous reasons. A lot of people thought power builds died last patch, outside of the new might stacking power meta (everyone is strength/hoelbrak etc…). Tons rerolled condi builds/classes. Engineers saw build diversity increase as turrets were buffed hugely, and now a good turret engi is virtually unbeatable on a point. SPvP Engis are in a very good place, roaming in WvW, etc… Engineer itself hasn’t really changed, it has always been high skillcap and always had high utility, but that didn’t make people play it before so idk why it would now. I think it’s due to the most recent patch and the (perceived) shift in the meta.

1) was from a pve standpoint. Ele and maybe thief have higher skillcaps in pvp.

Yes because hambows’ combustive shot is super easy to outplay. Just run off the node. Amirite? So is the almost perma cc. Just don’t be near them and you’re golden.

There will always be a best way to do things. Everywhere. In every game, in every real life situation. Not knowing the best way doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist.
Best way meaning the most effective way to accomplish something given the posibilities i.e. capabilities(skill) of the people and an acceptable risk/reward ratio.
Making healing power scale better and other support aspects will do nothing to the curent “meta”. People don’t run berserker because support is bad, they just don’t need it.

Well the topic is about grenade optimisation so there’s that.
Bomb radius is still big enough untraited, especially since you use them purely for utility which is stealth/blind/might.
But lets assume you use the auto for some wacky reason. If mobs are scattered so much that you can’t hit them with normal bombs the issue is your party(i.e. bads). Where in fractals there are multiple mobs that you can’t stack or otherwise group together? Molten facility? You should have 1guard/mes in your party in case hiding behind a pillar is too much of a chore. You need them for reflects anyway.
Even empowering adrenaline is better.

So there was a bit of talk about how effective engi is in the dungeon speed run and the suggested comp for Arah p2 is to let engi replace the thief and et cetera Arah path 2 Guangway

If you ignore the terribad mesmer, engi seems good except for:
- The stealth combo used for skipping has long cd and duration is really short.
- Their blast finisher is a finisher that can CC mob unintentionally.
- They are too slow at stacking vuln in a short fight.
- Their DPS isn’t on par with a second ele with conjured weapons.

Engi isn’t the greatest in PvE and had no place in the meta dungeon speedrun.

1)They wasted the bomb. You know it. I know it. Everyone knows it. The current record for arah p2 from dnt used blinding powder for the long skip after alphard from thief. That’s 40s compared to engi’s smoke bomb that’s only 25.
2)Only BoB is a cc that’s mandatory. You can easily replace mine with rifle turret.
3)Possibly true.
4)Likewise. But the issue wasn’t about engi replacing ele. It was about replacing thief.

Flamethrower is an utility kit. I know anet names it weapon kit but they do the same for toolkit and elixir gun which are also designed for utility. They name actual dps kits like grenades and bombs device kits. Go figure.
Use flamethrower for it’s utility. In pve the fire field is very strong to prestack might while out of combat because of the duration. You can use it in fractals to facetank dredge buttons maybe as others have mentioned.
In pvp/wvw you can use the pushback and the blind for roaming/dueling/decapping. The actual damage is very bad.
Yes yes. We all know it looks super cool to run around spewing fire at enemies. That doesn’t make it good though.

Just don’t go for bomb radius. Besides being useless it also makes it easier to draw aggro from nearby mobs. The fire and blind fields are large enough as it is.

Flamethrower and elixir gun are actually the cooler looking kits. Bomb(tool) and grenade are horrible. At least something like the SAB backpieces would be more bearable.

Explosive powder is a guaranteed 10% dps boost. Short fuse is not. The less close to perfect your rotation gets the less you benefit from shortfuse.
Empowering adrenaline is theoretically nice because you are encouraged to dodge by the free bomb too. In practice it seems very bad though.
