Yea because people don’t understand what is stacking and how it works. They just saw the cool kids doing it and tried to copy it. Just look at every complain about stacking being an exploit. None of those people really get what stacking is about and they assume it has a magic power of making everything easier somehow, like outright canceling boss mechanics.
Sometimes it’s advantageous to stack. Sometimes it isn’t. The worst are the AC pugs who stack in the dumbest places possible like the weird Kholer one where you can’t see crap or in p2 trap phase where not a single mob is los-ed properly and they just stay there watching how they get ranged to death, god forbid they move around the pillar.
Im not going to be dumb enough to pay for bottle of water that is even more contaminated than the one coming out of the tap, but there are plenty of people out there falling for this dumb scheme and who, unfortunately blablabla
Sir it seems to me you may have forgot your protective headpiece.
Arah P2 – Alphard resets whenever it feels like. Even right in the middle of the fight.
There are a lot of reasons to have a kick function. Best reason I can think of is to be able to kick people. There may be more reasons though.
Yea this whole thing seems more like “how to look cool in supposed speedruns” than anything useful. Rangers can use signet of stone although they have 18k hp but squishy 10k ele has no right to use signet of earth?
And yes, don’t use defensive traits that people can see like strength in numbers(party-wide). Use invisible ones like shoutheals. You are so close to telling people to get 2 sets of gear with identical skins: one berserker and one magi.
Actually this is almost identical to those “zerker’s speedrun experts only” lfgs filled with bads that also have huge egos and bad attitudes to complement their lack of skill besides stacking in a corner and dpsing.
Ehm force sigils don’t stack. Ranger runes apply to summons( not phantasms afaik sadly).
This is really good feedback guys.
I would say that as roles go, Guardians are pretty good for stacking might too (at least that is a role I play in most of my groups). I run a Hammer build to blast finish fire fields and generally use staff for Empower. To the earlier point about guardians, I do run Berserker gear on him, but I do trait for AH which I know is generally frowned upon but helps survivability greatly (especially when I pug).
No. No. No no no no no no no no no no. No!
You’re better off traiting meta and running knight or whatever.
With protection, weakness and signet of judgement you get around 70% damage reduction. If that is not enough..I don’t know..
“Hey guys someone’s at the door brb 10s”
wtf?!So if someone is at your door, you would ignore them and keep playing the game? lol
How will I be able to OBJECTION in the proposed system otherwise?
“Hey guys someone’s at the door brb 10s”
wtf?!
Engi can stack 21 might while in combat but I’ll admit timing BoB and detonate thumper is tricky. Maybe with perfect timing you can squeeze in supply crate. They’re the ultimate pug carry with their huge might and vuln. They can stealth and offer some minor projectile mitigation too. The blind grenade has a pretty low cooldown. They’re basically the kitten child of a thief and elementalist.
I usually write a very very long msg with the paths at the end. Something like “Please be full meta berserker builds. Thanks. Also i am writting a long lfg for ppl who read. P1.” or something ridiculous like that.
A short lfg and ppl tend to filter everything you wrote and only see the paths you are running. You can make yours a tad longer by adding gearcheck to it.I also do this. If you can hide the path so that you need to put the mouse over it to see it, you know they were at least forced to read the text. Whether they actually comprehended it or not is another question.
And I thought I was the only one. It actually works.
Well guardian can provide permanent protection and skale venom procs quite a lot with symbols so that’s a huge damage reduction which is so nice in fractals against thrash, especially the dredges. Mesmer does reflects better at the cost of terrible cleave.
But pugs are pugs. They think guardians are these magical heroes that “guard” them or whatever. They’re too stupid to notice they’re running cleric/celestial and autoattack with staff. Or they do notice and actually believe that’s a good thing. So they believe if they stack like 2 guardians the runs will be smoother. I’ve recently been in fractal 49 with 2 guardians. One was “supporter” and the other one was “shout”. Both staff camping. I think I only saw one wall of reflection ever. They died a lot too.
So which class you play? Ranger or necro?
if they’re bad then I can carry them through most boss fights which allows me to practice my soloing skills, so it’s a win-win for me.
Well soloing hunter, mage, illusionist, 2 abominations and the mandatory champion at the same time is quite the challenge I’ll give you that. It also gets you to practice skipping if it happens to be path 1. Another fun boss to try solo is Shoggroth. That’s if they make the run to it and understand the mechanics of staying on the green geysers.
Lastly, my favourite one is lupicus with 9 grub stacks and permanent kiting.
Miku. You should report them so the issue can be investigated and an appropriate action can be taken. Any appropriate action. Like none. Ever. Even if there are multiple videos that show who the person is and what he/she does. Even if it has PMs included from said person admitting knowledge of the action.
I find oozes annoying in general. I guess it’s fun to do with good movement but a slow class like mesmer/necro might have some issues. Ranger sword root? Also if someone from the group doesn’t get away fast enough and it starts to move a lot of bad things can happen like aggroing other mobs, corpses and even the attacks themselves hit pretty kitten hard.
Silvers because they deserve a silver medal given their huge hp and hard hits which are insanely scaled(illusionist chaos storm for example). Also they have a silver circle around their pretty faces.
I don’t find crusher/hunter trivial. Maybe I’m a bad player. The poison hits hard those who don’t have afk regen signet even if you stay inside like 1-2s, the immobilize doesn’t get always removed especially if it’s covered with other condis(mostly cripple, vuln, poison) and not everybody has a nice evade skill that works while immobilized with a small cooldown. In good dps groups it’s an afk fight mostly(stay behind crusher) but after you burned all your duration blocks, condi removals, evades etc. you may be in a bad place.
I understand you play warrior so a lot of things are easier. Even if you’re like the worst warrior in the world you can use sword/shield and greatsword rush+whirlwind and bull’s charge. If you still somehow manage to get hit hard enough to get a major drop in your 18k hp you can use endure pain and defiant stance to get around 6s(?) of invulnerability(almost) and restore hp to full. But then maybe you still have issues. No problem, use elite skill rampage to double toughness and triple vitality while also having another rush-like skill.
Speaking of orbs I was wrong. Had 4 people who couldn’t run them.
I still stand by my position regarding the ritual. They screw it up so badly by aggroing the mobs and it’s annoying to say the least trying to get them back following you.
I know the clones are not fun to deal with while alone if they don’t los fast enough and running away to reset the boxes might either make the boss reset or get you hit by a stray ball.
But why people keep complaining about that pull? It has a very clear tell you can usually see in most scenarios anyways. How do you deal with mage crusher in p3 with that poison attack that has both a minimal tell and hits you almost instantly? Oh you spam reflects. Well guess what you can use for alphard.
As a ranger the sword will actively try to kill you and I have yet to see a lupi solo with it. Greatsword is a huge dps loss and I heard it has some issues with 3rd hit in the auto chain too. P3 is probably the easiest with thief. Pistol whip spamming is a fun way to facetank crusher and a lot of other things. You can use shadow trap for orbs and the ritual shouldn’t be an issue with all the stealth you have access to.
Well how about you take it as a man and stay right in the face of bosses instead of max range?
In the end you want to play your bad build. So do it. What’s the problem? The only way to improve it is by replacing it with a sword one. You’re not forced to run offhand focus. You can use pistol/sword for higher dps at the cost of a lot of reflect you seem to refuse to use despite the fact that it’s the major selling point of mesmers.
If you are against using sword then, as people said a bunch of times, you can’t expect to contribute. Or have a good build.
tl;dr Your thread’s subject is “Viable way of going Gsword + Staff, PvE?”. I’ll assume it’s a question. The answer is “No.”
A lot of people have no idea what they are speaking about.
A staff/gs mesmer will and should be kicked out of every dungeon. It’s borderline useless and using gs#5 on nicely stacked mobs is like asking for it.
OP. Run whatever you want in open world. That doesn’t count. In dungeons, there is no possible way to make either of those weapons viable.
Maybe 3rd time is indeed the charm. Again, I said longbow is not a bad dps weapon. I never said it’s a good weapon to use in groups because of the already mentioned lack of buffs and ruining of stacks. Somebody said a longbow ranger does bad dps and I tried to refute that with some very crude math. I am aware of the slight skew with such a basic approach but factoring the vuln and other dps boosts is too much of a time waste.
Stop saying staff ele is useless/bad. It’s not. It can still stack around 9 might and long fury solo. If they use water that’s a whole different issue.
As I said I factored only weapon and skill modifier(+trait for lb).
The biggest issue is not the lack of buffs but it really screws the pulls by scattering thrash all over the place. Still people assume longbow is bad dps. It’s not. That’s all I said and it’s true.
I wonder how many pugs actually stack might or give party-wide fury. Yes, some warrior may pop fgj once in a while but that’s pretty much it. I actually had some pug runs today with hurr durr warriors that used rifle and defense banner.
Problem is rangers get all the hate while greatsword mesmers, staff/scepter/mace guardians and the above mentioned warriors get a free pass. Pugs are silly.
Stop saying longbow is bad dps. It’s not. Traited longbow hits for 992.25/s only factoring skill modifiers and weapon damage and the 5% damage trait. This is only the autoattack, without considering barrage. As a reference sword hits for 1055.55/s. Yes, longbow is just a bit lower auto.
As for melee>range it’s almost always true. Ele is a notable exception with staff. Engi bombs(melee) hit higher than grenades but all the vuln loss is not worth it.
Don’t think of ranger as an archer. Think of it as Walker, Texas Ranger.
It’s true that most of the stats are useless in pve. You can’t fix this without ruining the action part of the game. Tank/healer/dps where everybody is half-afk autoattacking is worse than the current situation. They should really fix conditions though. Maybe add a new combination that’s full condition damage like berserker is now for direct damage.
@Purple Miku
Yes. Ooze coral is sketchy but it’s the norm even and especially in speed runs. You can always afk range it if you feel it’s cheating to safespot. Champs are better to solo because people who kite them outside the light areas means you’ll probably die or lose the buff stacks.
P3 in bad dps groups is a bit brutal. The 4 silvers at the gate hit like a truck so if you don’t kill them fast enough you’re looking at a lot of wipes. On the same idea, hunter will immobilize you a lot more than you can remove it so if you drag the fight for too long and can survive the poison sooner or later you’ll get hit by the instakill from crusher. You can get one guy to keep hunter busy and push him around I guess. The skip afterwards is terrible. The mage can be safespotted which is also sketchy so without perma reflects wipes can and will occur. Orbs are almost impossible to fail with 5 people. The ritual can take forever if people just rush in and yolo the wraiths which happens quite a lot for some reason.
So p3 doesn’t have a steep learning curve but it can take very long and it’s a dps check while p1 is not.
P1 is the easiest. Ooze is always coral, champs can be soloed, tar is very forgiving with people being able to rally on little tars(whatever they are called) and the last boss is pretty afk. The skip to it might get tricky but only one has to make it. Only issue is wiping on lupi which may happen forcing everybody to redo the whole skip.
P2 has alphard and the arguably “hard” skips after belka and after alphard. Alphard is actually doable with full group of incompetent players because (s)he focuses on one target so others can revive themselves with #4. A mesmer that just spams reflects makes it trivial. Guardian has to put wall inside the boss to make it work.
P3 skip(after hunter+crusher) is actually harder because it’s pretty difficult to not get in combat or soft-cced with chills/dazes. But if you have a thief( even shadow refuge is enough) it’s not an issue.
P4 is too long and if your group has bad dps you’ll fall asleep at melandru and simin.
If you somehow maintain 3 phantasms up then go 10/30/0/20/10. Usually that’s not the case so the extra 20% recharge is far superior to 100 power.
As for 10/20.. in a scenario that doesn’t require reflects at all I think the difference is minimal. In any other situations(i.e. most) 10/20 gets significantly worse. Also considering said no reflect scenario you must run pistol and sword offhands since warden is kinda bad deeps even though the cleave is nice for thrash. So you need both cooldown traits anyways and the phantasmal fury is a must. There really isn’t a line to remove points from to gain a significant dps boost. You’re looking at a minor gain(if any) while losing a ton of utility. Remember than mantras also provide party-wide support besides being flat 4% dps boosts.
Yes this is an actual issue. It happens even if it’s on your main server. It happens even if you opened the kitten dungeon/fractal yourself!
words. random words.
Pugs are people stuck at alphard that you join to help. They wipe and you continue to solo it..at around 30% hp two of them suddenly come back to life, spam a bunch of particle effects and trigger the aoe. Repeatedly until you ragequit.
Well the instabilities are kinda dumb too. Some are barely noticeable and people do those(38,47/49). Others like 39 or 43 are done only by the uninformed. But the worst is 40/50/x0 one with perma-agony.
There is no reason for dungeon opener/owner to get kicked. It’s obvious that it breaks the instance so only griefers would do it. But GG Anet.
I’d like fractals to evolve into instanced content that doesn’t have the dredge fractal.
Hai guise. Letz make an new forum posting evry tiem someting hapens in pugs!! Funny tread names that dont mean much encouraged!
Nice hippie post. Makes sense. Accounts are born with a said AP number and people change their skin color the more they do stuff.
Advanced tactics:
“Have you read the lfg?”
Silence/“lol zerg suxx”/etc.=kick
Well start pugging arah. Join one of the “experts only” groups for p2/p3. Wait for them to wipe at lupi then you can practice your solo/duo.
Also I heard there is this guild that wants to teach people do dungeons and stuff.
Just wait till you get to p2 with all those lovely delayed circles.
Well you could’ve stalled them until a friend joined to help you kick them. But still. Horrible stuff!
You play a necro don’t you?
Posted lfg about buying arah story. Got merged twice. Posted lfg saying “stop joining me randomly!” and stuff like that. Got merged a couple more times.
Here’s a helpful guide to gain some insight into the mind of these people.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YSEw9CrSc-U
Under 2k is a minor red flag. People who ask for AP are mostly bad. Not all. Some actually believe it helps. I’ve also seen that some ask for AP but then also for gearcheck or “melee lupi” or whatever. That’s kinda stupid. Gearcheck isn’t what it used to be. Had 2 warriors in fractals that I remember. Pink armor but with ruby orbs(why?!). One used hammer..legendary but still hammer. The other didn’t wore the armor he pinged(different skins).
TL;DR Note: Use a VPN service to test whether game or your ISP is the problem (VPN details below).
Yes. Your method seems to work so far. Problem being it’s temporary and also it’s annoying that I have to do stuff like this.
Since I am not tech-savvy, does this mean it’s my ISP or ANet’s fault?
It comes down to the chat logs:
If you kick someone with no discussion near the end of an encounter for no perceivable reason then invite a guildy to complete the encounter, you will be banned if the person reports you.
If you attempt any negotiation at all then you are safe.
Say what now?
So between largos and tengu people decided on tengu?
Necro is borderline useless in groups. A well built necro like 30/25/0/0/15 or maybe 20/25/0/0/25(I don’t know which is better honestly) is obviously better than the average staff healer guardian or shoutheal warrior. But if we assume everybody runs meta or close to it other classes are way better. Necro has no cleave on their max dps weapon. Actually they have almost no cleave at all on autos.
The guy was super polite so I don’t get why you’re so upset. Also your build looks terribad.
On a happier note, in my 3-day experience with necro I have never been kicked from Arah. I can almost feel their resent though. But then, I don’t really get carried.
Also because you didn’t censor the name your post will be deleted soon.
Even if you know their names you can’t do more than whisper them some nice words or remember to avoid them in the future. Just open the kitten instance yourself. It’s not like “swamp ready” is a huge selling point.
Bump for great justice. This bullkitten needs to get fixed.
White knight casuals griefing legit dungeon sellers is just pathetic. Haven’t been able to sell a single run in the past 3 days because someone keeps crashing my instances.
Edit: Yay i got my signature back.
They should really introduce like a gem store item that disables the merge button.
Or you could start merging people yourself. Not sellers but one of those many yet always delightful “at lupi need guardian 10k AP no noob or kick!”. The problem isn’t solved because anet doesn’t cater to dungeon sellers. If it affects enough of the playerbase, it will be solved. Just look at that silly flamekissed bullkitten.
