True, p/p has it’s uses and it’s FUN. The new Ricochet is very nice. The numbers are decent. Range is 1050. etc.

D/D and S/P will always output bigger numbers, that’s true, but that’s a different play style. And it’s zero range.

I use S/P, D/P, SB, P/P, depending on the dungeon / event party setup / mood, etc.

Max range longbow ranger is more dps than pistol thief. So that covers dps.
Thief has stealth and blind. Both very in demand things. Ranger offers a marginal dps boost. That sums up the utility part.

It’s a super lame ultra cheesy way to kill it. It’s pathetic that they copy the videos without even understanding how it works.

It’s pretty funny. 4 pugs stay back, guardian yells in map chat “WAIT LET ME PUSH TO WALL”, pewpew with scepter and random dodges and blocks cause kicks are hard to read then everybody joins in on the fun!.
Thank god paralyzation still works.

Yea..don’t run healing in pve dungeons. It’s bad. Condi is fine for solo but in groups it’s also bad.
A decent berserker gear build like 66020 with invigorating speed and infused precision while also taking pistol/shield and toolkit will cover all your defensive needs with 2 blocks and perma vigor. You can even go crazy and take energy sigil+elixir r but that’s way beyond overkill.

In pvp celestial rifle and p/p condi are your strongest choices.

Celestial rifle is pretty skewed towards the “i win” area so give that a go. Just go 60044 or 60062. People seem to not like protection injection anymore but I still believe it’s a strong trait.

This is the kind of posts I was talking about. I understand it can be dissapointing when our wishes / requests are not emediatelly or never granted, but posts like this really discourages constructive discussion and probably developers themselves to charm in on it.

Yes. Constructive discussion when basically all that provides are hundreds of variations on “remove them” like “remove them and add icons”, “remove them when you enable your backpiece visibility”, “make a toggle button for them” etc.
It’s a commonly known fact they serve no purpose in the competitive scene, there has been a poll about that. Just bad design all around.

What if in the recent gem conversion situation people would have just said “kk anet just reduce base number to 200gems” and called it a day? Constructive criticism doesn’t provide change. It provides a venting mechanism. Also there is literally nothing “constructive” when the answer is obvious.

As a side note, legendary effects are also a big issue. Also highly ignored.

But it’s cool guys cuz grouch totally mains an engi! He feels us! All dem feels!!

Ehm..why hasn’t this “change” been announced before? So we don’t get stuck with weird values like 688 gems (which I have right now TY ANET).
Are you even aware that by announcing the change it would limit the outrage caused by it?

As for lower increments. Lets be real. The best you will get is they go “ok 200gems minimum enjoy your 700gem outfits lol”. 100gems lowest would be too good to happen.

It’s obvious the system is meant to generate leftover currency so you overspend gold or waste the remaining gems on random stuff you don’t really want or need.

Magnetic shield change wasn’t really needed but it’s a nice freebie if anything. A real change would be to increase the reflect radius even if it meant retaining the root.

Slick shoes are just as useless as venoms no matter how much anet tries to push them. There is simply no place for them on your limited utility bar.

I wouldn’t run the inventions variant on celestial rifle though.

In pvp you are decent but lack stunbreaks/stability and the condition removal is awful. If you see a condi necro just run away.

I partially agree. I usually die only to CC chains (or well-done group focus… but that’s for any profession, any build).

If I see a necro, I fight them and usually win. Could have something to do with their skill level vs. mine, but I don’t think I’m all that great. I have enough condition removal with EG and turret to get by, and they rarely seem to handle my damage well. Don’t know what else to say. Everyone’s experience is different, and I don’t care about necros unless they’re group focusing on me (CC + coordinated burst -> biggest weakness).

That’s 3 conditions removed and 1 stunbreak. Reaper’s protection, nightmare rune proc, staff 5, deathsroud 3 and I think I’m forgetting something. While you are feared they can just copy the conditions you applied to them back to you with staff 4 and dagger 4.
Yes you do stand a chance if you run celestial rifle because it has more sustain and is more reliant on direct damage. You can force a fear proc at start to transmute it into stability but it’s a hard matchup.

Yea engineer is a cool class but don’t jump on the hype train “you can do everything!”. That’s like saying mesmers can also do everything but in the end they are veil/portal bots.
About PvE. You can stack around 9 might with current meta build, basically cap stealth if you bother to swap utilities and offhand shield, the vulnerability is pretty OP but it has a slower ramp up time than ranger’s so in very short fights the bearbow will outshine you, bringing projectile mitigation means wasting an utility slot..and your dps isn’t ele/thief level but it’s pretty decent. Also because a part of it is bleeds it has a bit of ramp up time too.
Remember that you only have 2 utility slots available because you need a dps kit and those slots usually are occupied by other kits. Casual carebears will tell you “kitten kitten remove condis with elixir c!” without understanding that you sacrifice a lot for that. Same for elixir u or elixir r or whatever.
In wvw zerg you have no stability so you are a rallybot and if you stay far with grenades retaliation will murder you.

Number 5 excludes portals and since mesmers have no movement skills, we are probably the worst profession for jumping puzzles.

No movement skills needed for JPs, the worst thing you can do while creating a character which you intend to do JP with is to create a Charr or Norn (to some extend). Anything else is irrelevant, jumping is a matter of player ability, not class skills

Then necro because they have a lot of swiftness(warhorn isn’t a problem unless mobs around) and also the way spectral walk works can be used to make a risky jump way safer by being able to teleport back.

Best warrior or not but his enemies were terrible.
Bearbow and d/d thief spamming 3..necro(i think) using take root elite..that ele who insisted on keeping the channel on churning earth even if it meant he got downed..The list can go on.

I did some pvesports today. Ascalon fractal bugs your utility bar too. Pretty immersive since ancient charrs didn’t master the magic of skill swaps out of combat. They could only do it by relogging. Thank you anet for this feature! Totally needed! Don’t ever fix it!

Maybe make a gemstore item called “utility swatch” that makes you able to swap those 3 lovely skills while forcefully transformed.

You can’t just give kits cooldowns, move them from utility to a mechanic like attunements and call it a day. They weren’t designed to work like that.
While a good reason, taking up utility slots isn’t why kits have 1s cooldown. Engineers have horrible autoattacks. All that skill spamming people qq about is because there is no other viable choice.
The kits’ skills are a mess outside bomb/grenade and even those are situational. You do need them all to be decent.
Any change to the way kits work would render the class useless.
Conditions and hard cc are still a big issue. Immobilize is death but that applies to many classes.
Terror necro still hard counters. The many fears you can’t avoid are totally balanced. Dagger #4 has pathing issues which makes it undodgeable sometimes. Staff #4 has indeed a distinct look. Good luck noticing it. It’s very hard in 1vs1 and outright impossible in team fights.

Apparently you get your utilities unchangeable in ac p3 with the ghost transformation super immersion magical effect.
But also if you use signet of the wild on ranger in any dungeon. And probably other stuff.

I have an engineer question too. How does a turret engineer that’s totally meta and best build to use in pvp because it’s super op and with great mobility..deal with people just ignoring the node you drop your npcs on? I’m talking about the popular 00662 without accelerant packed turrets, rifle or thumper. Which of the elixir gun or pistol autoattacks benefit more from balthazar runes?

Hey again! Let me rephrase! Using sitting duck to proc vuln with glue bomb is stupid! Same for bomb 2 and 4. As for the dps loss..it is true. I stated a fact. Using smoke bomb to blind thrash is a good thing to do but a dps loss nonetheless. How much? All! You deal 0 damage with it.

Why would you use fire bomb on cooldown when flamethrower provides a better fire field and also includes a low cooldown blast finisher which is also a dps gain? It also has a blind that’s almost instant cast.

And I do gearcheck every pug I do. Right down to sigils and consumables. No justice sigil in CM? Kick! Some are sneaky and ping stuff like light of dwayna but then I ask them to send me a screenshot to be sure of the stats.
If I see a warrior with that ugly cof armor I kick them on sight. If it’s dyed purple/green/yellow I block them too. I care bout about effiency and fashion.

To be honest ascended armor is the biggest waste of gold possible. Especially now with the [KING] research showing that rewards are better at 40-49 than 50. Unless you go for ascended armor boxes which probably will have stats and/or pieces you don’t want.

Outside fractal 50 ascended armor is irrelevant. The stat gain is a joke unless you add some infusions to it which cost around 150g each last time I checked.
With ascended berserker armor, assassin rifle and 2 assassin accesories you’re looking at 59% crit chance before buffs. It’s pretty good unless you want to absolutely minmax.

No auto-attack for grenades, they are ground targetted and should stay that way.

Yes to making Skill #1 a channeled skill so you just have to hold the key down but still aim your GTAoE.

Or just make it so if you make grenade #1(or any really) autoattack it actually works that way. You can always disable that and manually use them.
Except it won’t make any difference. You don’t spam grenade 1 in pve and neither in pvp or wvw. It’s a great filler in situations like “I’m not sure I will land my hits so I don’t want to burn important cooldowns”.

Now either you can change utility freely or some of them cause you to drop the bundle. For example crystals in arah are dropped if you swap to elixir s and utility goggles but you don’t drop them if you change to bomb kit or grenade. More testing is needed but as usual the change is buggy.

1.Magnet bug happens every 1/10 magnets in which your magnet randomly misses. If you miss the magnet pull you automatically lose the decap. Because of bugs!

2. Because of lags and terrain sometimes the magnet connects but the target just gets tossed in the air instead of being pulled like it should happen! This makes engineer unplayable!

3.Basically I recommend everybody to stop playing engineer until this issue gets fixed. Or play turrets with knockback trait and thumper turret!

Wtf is that inventions variant? No vigor and not even energy sigil? Is it to facetank hambows and other stuff cuz you don’t have dodges?
Also traiting for fortified turrets is a horrible idea. Inventions line is a kitten traitline basically.
How to counter rangers? Avoid rapid fire by dodging(oops you can’t cuz you run inventions) or toolkit block it. Get in melee. Press buttons for 5-10s till ranger dies. Most of your buttons work for this so you can randomly press them and win.

Who cares about hotjoin? With the constant joining, leaving and swapping teams it would be super silly to make it rewarding. But then again, casuals are gem buyers so..

Torrits are not so good for wvw because of the constant mobility it requires. You are far better off with a flamtower or exiler gun.

On topic:
It would be cool if they removed the rng part of many skills. Just make the equivalent of elemental glyphs. Since many key effects are dual(elixir u toolbelt, elixir x) they could just make one effect trigger when you have a kit on and the other when you have your main weapon out. Shouldn’t be hard to implement and a major quality of life improvement.

Kit refinement is a very interesting trait that needs some rework. No, I don’t mean bring back grenade barrage. Just tweak it a bit because it’s useless now but has great potential.

The easiest way to kill a celestial ele is getting it focused. Find 2 team mates and focus fire! They usually die in less than 2 mins if 3 people focus one.
I would also recommend stop playing necro and play a celestial class. Like ele or engi. Or even war! Ride the cheese train till anet gods nerf it! You only got 6 months so enjoy it while it lasts.
