I hope there will be gear checks if trash concepts like agony goes into the game.
I don’t want a griefer to ruin my experience by not bringing any infusion.

You chose to focus on magic find and 1% when I clearly stated that it is a 7.9% increase. The explorer ring was used because it was the only one that has details released to the public.
You need reading comprehension skills before you argue about things you don’t know.
I beg to differ, the stat upgrade while visable is quite low in terms of the outcome of the determination of a fight.
A skilled player in full exotic, will still beat a fully equipped ascended.
A equally skilled player in exotic will lose against an equally skilled player in ascended because of the advantage.

Do you have full exotic gear, fully upgraded with exotic upgrades? If not, you’re like 99% of the players. If you do, you have “an unfair advantage over the other players, which splits the playerbase and drives people (especially the casuals you seem to love so much) away.”
The (max 2) rings and 1 back item that’re gonna be implemented this patch do VERY little to give players advantage. Also, you can get them as well.
We’re talking about marginaly better stats than exotics. We’re talking about gear without upgrade slot.
All I wanna say is… Don’t overreact. Take a deep breath. Now go back to enjoying content instead of choking on marginally higher stats.
It is right now. BUT the article clearly states
As we release more new end game content in the future, you’ll see more Infusions and Ascended item types being added to the game. Eventually, you’ll be able to kit yourself out with a full set of Ascended gear and high end Infusions to help give you the edge in end game content.
So it’s not just a ring and a back item. It’s going to be a whole new tier of weapons and armor. The real worry is, is that is the just the start of a slippery slope of gear checking and treadmills
What does that change to the fact that everybody can get this gear? Or to the fact that most ppl dont get everything out of their gear at the moment anyway? Or that WvWvW, for that matter, isn’t about gear or skill at all but about running with the zerg, hoping your computer renders your enemies before theirs render you, AoE-spamming while keeping distance. Even full ascended armour isn’t gonna change that.
On first glance yes the stats do seem only marginally higher. Ignoring the fact that min-maxers will demand people take it. However, If you do the math, on the item showed the stats actually give a not insignificant 7.9% increase. If you do any PvE, or WvW to a hardcore level, that number matters.. A lot.
• Compared to its Exotic counterpart, new Ascended-rarity “Explorer” ring has: +5 Power • +5 Precision • +3% Magic Find • +infusion slot.
While the percentages in themselves may be small, the actual increase in the stats behind them are significant, especially magic find which imho is already questionable as a game mechanic
Ask a PvP or hardcore PvE player if they care about even a 1% difference. The fact there is one at all will shape player behavior

I’m fine with vertical progression, but I don’t want it the wrong way. Don’t make it a gear threadmill by rewarding more stats. Instead, make it that it fits for PvE only. Just like Guild Wars 1’s kind of infusion which is protection against spectral agony.
How can we achieve this?
Here are some example what infusion should do:
-Risen does -10 damage to you.
-You do more damage to Risens
-Purifier’s pull can only pull you in less range than before.
-The Dredge’s gong daze for less duration.
-Icebrood’s chill does a shorter duration on you.
-Flame Legion’s burn will do less damage.
-Spiders do less poison damage.
-You do +10 damage to Branded Minions.
-You do +11 damage to Branded Minions.
-You do +15 damage to Branded minions.
-and more!
Make it that all of infusion stack so it feels like a vertical progression that has zero effect on WvW.
One person could have hundred of infusions stacked or have only 2. After that, Make ascended status be achievable in a mission or solo dungeon like in Guild Wars 1. When you do that, your armor gets ascended and you can put infusion on them.
Some infusion can be gained from Dungeons. Some infusion can be bought with skillpoints, karma, or gold.
tl;dr: Ascended/infusion works the same exact way as Guild Wars 1. You do a mission so that spectral agony does less damage. In Guild Wars 2, it will be similar but it will be expanded.

If you up damage too much, then there is zero point in having toughness/vit.

Dungeons needs to be one of them.
A maximum of one dungeon path at least. Since it will be random, not everyone has to do them everyday.

It is an advantage.
The only thing that can hurt you are siege and aoe rings.

It is called the outmanned buff.

I disagree.
This increases the longevity of playtime and gives another reason for players to work for. They are the horizontal grind that replaces the vertical grind.

A lot of abilities are condition based. I personally play a ton of ranger shortbow, which has an auto-attack that is glorious (even after the nerf). My other skills are very situational on the short bow: A cripple to slow down a chaser, a poison spread to lower healing over multiple enemies, a daze, and a dodge/swiftness. There no sense in blowing all those things, and just through smart positioning and auto-attacking, I can put out bunches of condi-DPS.
I don’t imagine we’ll implement something that allows you to observe another player’s “work-rate” because with all the different ways to make and play a character, it would be difficult to measure and quantify someone’s input in a factual way. It’s not about the numbers you make as an individual, but the team-play and coordination as a group.
I play a Hammer and mace/mace and I agree with this message.
Playing a 10/0/30/30/0 build, I do very little damage compared to my glass cannon buddies. I knockdown breeders so they don’t overwhelm the group, I knockback scavengers so they don’t knock me down. I immobilize things so they don’t overwhelm clothy friends. I make sure that my party members survive.
However, I don’t spam them because it isn’t smart play to blow all the cooldowns. Therefore I will most likely to get the lowest workrate compared to the glass cannons.

CoE proves this wrong.
In the submarine path, there are different minions hanging out but they did not attack each other. They focused on the Inquest hiding behind the shield.

SM dungeon is hard because people tend to not have the highest quality gear.
Do SM dungeon with a pug with full exotics, there will be a huge difference.

@Rasp
I disagree that Bay keep’s water is a disadvantage. I believe it is more of an advantage than a disadvantage.
You can’t place siege on water, so there will be less room to place siege on areas where it isn’t well defended.
-The enemy will have the same movement disadvantage as well.
-Easier surprise attacks. Just bring your zerg underwater and circle around the enemy. If your catapult destroys flame rams, they should be using catapults as well to counter this. Circle around the enemy and destroy their catapults. They won’t be able to see you coming.
I do agree that easier trebbing is a big disadvantage.

I play a hammer and sword/warhorn banner build with a 10/0/30/30/0 build.
Currently I have Rune of the monk from my AC exp armor. It is pretty decent with Signet of Rage because of aegis but I was thinking if the other warriors know a better rune.
This will be for Dungeons and/or WvW.

It really makes me sad that the reward is 56 copper to finishing the monthly achievement.
The reward should’ve been higher than that. The old reward of 20 silver is high enough for me. You can easily make that in one dungeon run.

Yes please, This is easier for me to know who to kick out. I hate players that doesn’t use gear that isn’t their level.
Also, I want to know who is wearing MF gear. They are leechers and do not contribute to anything.

Make LFG tools zone wide only and add more mini games in LA. Otherwise it will destroy dungeon communities.
I enjoy meeting the same people in my PuG dungeon runs more than new people that I don’t know.

I would gladly pay over 125k of karma for a exotic cultural weapon.
I dislike the cultural weapons because I have to get the rare version. If I want to waste karma, I need to buy T-stones. Making an exotic version will not make exotic easier to get because dungeon exotics are easier to get than accumulating all that karma.

Just make the auto-attack do a .01 second stun.
The stun won’t do much; however, it will interrupt an enemy. This will also remove the stacks of defiant status on bosses.
With a 3 minute cooldown and lack of healing/utility skills, I believe this will be balance enough for people to consider bringing. Anyone with rampage can remove the stacks of defiant and then use better control skills like kick.
This won’t be enough for players to bring Rampage to PvE, but it will be enough to bring Rampage to dungeons.

I agree.
Before launch, this skill had knockback, long range, and powerful damage. It was clearly overpowered. They could’ve nerfed one or two of the best points of AB, but instead they nerfed it to the ground.

For housing, you should get the ability to live in what zone you want, since most zones are different from each other or in other words, themed housing.
To enter your house, you use an asura portal.
Let say that I want to live in Malchor’s leap. The environment will be very similar to Malchor’s leap and I get a plot of land to customize my house anyway I want to.
If I want to live in Metrica, I get to have a tropical area as my instanced housing. But I still have to build my house.
If I want to live in Wayfarer Foothills, maybe I can get that four epic statues of the spirit of the wild in the far horizon. This way, it feels like you are living in Wayfarer foothills instead of some cold mountains.
In Strait of Devastation, I can live on an island but there would be airship flying around battling the Lieutenants of Zhaitan.
I would also like to live in dungeons themed housing too. CoE, AC, and Arah seems wonderful places to live if you get rid of the mobs. HoTW doesn’t seem bad either, I could go for CM as well.
This way, as a RPer, I could say that I live in Dredgehaunt cliffs instead of some area in the mist.

Use Rune of the Monk, which you can get in AC exp. The purpose of this is the spammable aegis.
I suggest using Longbow mainly because of the combo field + might stack. If you plan to hang around with the ranged group, you can put a fire field on your ranged stack and then use arcing shot on yourself for might stacks. Then your group can spam burning on the enemy. A support build needs at least to have a warhorn in it. Any mainhand works. You can clean off snares and convert one condition to one boon.
I didn’t use a burst heal, instead, I use healing signet. With Adrenal Health, Healing signet, and banner regen, you get around 500 hp per tick.

Stop thinking in terms of zerg vs. zerg.
There will be small groups and zergs roaming around.
If a small group from a larger population roams around, they’ll just be steamrolled to the ground. They’ll be forced to join a zerg only to be steamrolled.

Mace’s number 2 only solves the adrenaline issue.
Not really.
The adrenaline gain is pretty bad with Mace’s 2 skill. However, spamming it like an aegis every 8 second makes mace pretty a good defensive weapon.

Grind for skins because it looks good.
Grind for different kind of equipment to have a larger variety of stats in the equipments.
Grind to make a different kind of build.
OP’s suggestion is terrible and should never be considered.
The 3 things you just listed are basically the problem, not his solution. Troll somewhere else and I agree with the OP. Currently everything is just an excessive grind for looks or purchasable by lazy people who buy tons of gold for the items to make those pieces. It is irresponsible for game developers to leave such a repetitive end-game when the whole time up till 80 was always different and unique. levels 1-79 was fun and challenging if you didn’t level in zones matching your level, always a few ahead. When I reached 80 it seems like the motto is grind for looks…
Not really, it is the solution. You could just grind your to make a new set of armor with a new set of runes or a new set of weapons combined with a new set of sigils and then discover a new playstyle. If you don’t like the solution, this is not a game for you.
The problem with PvE isn’t that there is no vertical progression. The problem is the lack of places to explore after completing it and the lack of motivation to go back. Going from Level 1-79 wasn’t fun because you progressed, it was fun because you explored and did whatever content there is by the area.
Vertical progression is very repetitive as well. Please go troll somewhere else.

Grind for nicer looking skin.
Grind to make your armory bigger. (Cleric armor, Knight armor, Berserker jewels etc.)
Grind to make different builds(Cleric armor with Soldier runes, Knight armor with Dolyak runes, etc.)
If you want progression, this game will be a bigger progression than WoW because you can make your arsenal bigger and use different builds.
That’s not progress. Progress means that you progressed from one point to the second and you improved along the way. Cosmetic change is not an improvement.
If you don’t like it, you can create a new character and progress from level 1 to 80.
Or If you don’t like that, then play whatever MMORPG that has it. Only a few have this kind of progression but, There are tons of decent MMORPG that has a progression that you want.
