Find it baffling that people are so uncoordinated they cant do such an easy jumping puzzle. The only difficult part is learning when and where to jump from and to. Once you do one part wrong once or twice you should be able to get it right every time.

Theres usually mesmers around ready to portal people up, so if you really cant do it or if you’re feeling lazy just use them.

Easy jumping puzzle? Really? As someone who has legitimately achieved all but the Steam Vents and Tribulation Rift (because I don’t do WvW and haven’t got round to giving it a concerted try yet) jumping achievements, I can assure you that Steam Vents is by far the hardest puzzle in the game.

Scavenger’s Chasm in straits of devastation is the hardest imo. But thats more because its long and starts to get frustrating when your constantly jumping around and searching for orbs. Never found the southsun JP’s difficult, just made a few mistakes when i first did it months ago because I didnt know what i was doing or where i was trying to get to.

So any news on this? Feel like this thread should be bumped until the fix is implemented. Hopefully in the end of the month patch.

Jon said he’d send it to someone to work on it on the 14th.

Ok we found a good repro case. It has to do with how death shroud and downed used to interact. I will get someone on it today and try and get a fix to you all asap.

Also this month would be the month to fix it as Jon said:

This month will be focused on bug fixes, with balance coming in later patches!

When it comes to ANet however, I don’t set my expectations high and even then I’m disappointed.

Yeah i know its quite likely to be in the bug fix patch. But i dont think its worth letting the issue drop. Its an important bug. And if were seen to not complain about it they could decide its a low priority and postpone it. Jon said in one of his posts hed get the fix asap in a hotfix. Surely that means it should of been patched seperately as soon as the fix was ready, but it hasnt been implemented yet. Im actually dreading the patch and the dissapointment that could follow. :P

We need a power based weapon which actually fills the roll of close combat dps effectively. Similar to the spear underwater would be perfect. Dagger has decent single target dps but i consider it more of a life siphon sustain weapon. Its used on power builds because its the only weapon with a decent auto attack. So would like something better.

  1. - Auto attack that generates lifeforce and then applies poison and strips a boon on the final attack of the chain.
  2. - Reapers Wrath – Burst aoe cleave skill that grants lifeforce per hit.
  3. - Deathly Chill – Summons a deathly cloud around the player which damages nearby foes every second and applies chill and vulnerability.
  4. - Vampiric Gaze – Deals damage in a cone infront of the player. Damage dealt also heals the player for a small amount and grants 2s of vigor for each enemy hit.
  5. - Unholy Grasp – Send out grasping hands that damage and pull foes to the necro and apply blindness.

The idea is to base it on the guardians greatsword. Guardians are the opposite of necro’s, they use boons to support the team, whereas necros use conditions and debuffs. Necro’s can actually fill the same role pretty well, they just lack the reflects and sometimes boons are far more useful. But if we had a decent weapon for debuffing, control and damage we could replace them on certain dungeons. It would also give us a decent weapon in pvp for power builds.

Yes. Minion AI is terrible and you’re missing out on much better utilites when you take minions.

Yes. And mesmer does not even bring decent dps in my opinion. Mesmer dps is nothing else but a joke.

Doing it wrong then. Mesmer does slightly less damage than most other classes in full beserker gear. Which is fair seeing as they have so much utility and timewarp.

Even so, id be happy to see all classes base damage buffed to be a little closer to warriors. Currently there is far too big a difference.

My point was that classes whose core is designed around AI are by definition bad design, because AI has little place in any competitive game, bar as NPCs, and will always be either under or overperforming, simply because it is AI.
The point of pvp is to fight vs real players, not pets. Pet builds can be an alternative, but they most definitely do not belong to core class design.
There is a good reason why GW2 rangers and mesmers are one of the most problematic classes.

But mesmers arent one of the most problematic classes. I agree with your point when talking about rangers, necro minions and guardian spirit weapons. But clones have such simple AI, you can pretty much completely ignore that they have any AI at all.

People tend to overlook the positive sideeffect of being focused: it is basically an invite to carrying any pug group!
I’m fine if i end up in parties where i get focused (even when i am on classes that are new to me) because when i mess up it just means, that i have to play better .

Guild Wars 2 has a combat system that gives you the tools to overcome sticky situations with practice and knowledge of the encounters. If you are being focused by cc heavy trash, then guess what: they all have animations, so dodge them when you can and use armor of earth instead of running away.
Staying in combat and being focused means the rest of your team has it easier. It is an incentive to improve and learn to handle the situation. If you are a good player, you can carry your groups as an ele in full zerker gear and if you dont like to have to be on spot with dodge timing then switch to more forgiving pvt.

This is true. Except its really a big problem for necro’s. No vigor, blocks, evade abilities, invulnerabilities, lack of stunbreaks and stability. And necro’s tend to pull aggro off guardians alot due to their high base hp.

Axe 1 should be a whip animation.

It bugs me so much that if you dont have auto targeting turned on and you dont have a target you just miss everything. Would quite like axe to have cone or cleave but id rather we just got a new cleave weapon. Greatsword or short sword.

You won’t generally see too many inter-species relationships, but I’m sure they’re out there. With some races more than others. You also have to consider the opinions of their peers, which will be more important to some races than others; sylvari wouldn’t have too many problems, but for a charr it would be very difficult.

Who would want to have a relationship with a charr anyway.

Depends what type of wells build you want. Damage or support or tankyness. All the builds posted so far are very support/tank orientated. Whereas in pve those roles arent really needed.

Friday or saturday works better for me aswell. I doubt the stream would be high quality or even watchable if i was doing it. Have pretty poor upload speeds during the day.

You can also get them from the Mystic Forge.
Just buy a few hundred different major runes on the trading post.
Or buy rare lvl68-80 armor and salvage them for ectos. You’ll get 8/10 major runes out of the salvaging process with Master Kits.
I’m not sure about the glob prices atm, but this is usually a rather profitable trade:
buy rare armor, sell globs, throw major runes into the Forge to get superior runes and sell them.

It might take a while to get 6 Nightmare runes though.

If hes only lvl 60 i doubt he be able to afford that haha. I would recommend just learning dungeons. They are good for money and they are pretty much the best and sometimes the only way to get certain stat combos for exotic gear.

Alot of groups might not tolerate lower lvl players as TA is one of the more tricky dungeons, atleast until you understand the mechanics and gain some experience. But the explorable mode is lvl 55 so as long as you have lvl 60 gear you wont be too much of a hindrance if you go in with some knowledge of the dungeon. I recommend watching some video’s.

Strifes dungeon videos are very good for mechanics. He runs all dungeons in optimized speedruns but he explains the mechanics of all the dungeons really well, so its still worth a watch.

The staff on a power build does offer fairly decent damage from range. But you dont need all that cc and the condition combo’s. Fear can actually screw up mob grouping. Axe is strong on power builds because it allows the player to dart in and out of direct melee range without losing huge amounts of dps.

Unholy feast does some nice damage and you can get perma retaliation with it when theres enough mobs around you (no need to waist a trait slot for retal). Basically its good for tagging and doing an aoe burst combo on a group of mobs after LOSing them. Combo goes unholy feast, drop wells, enter DS and life transfer. The damage you do is insane and the retal hits actually contribute alot of damage to it. You could place your marks on the spot where the mobs are LOSing to but usually one mob will trigger them first and the rest wont get hit. If you wait till they are all on you, you are taking a risk and slowing the combo down, plus you cant use reapers mark or you will screw up the pull for your group.

I will admit axe number 2 doesnt do enough damage to actively use it on cooldown. But it does provide a really nice amount of lifeforce. So if you need to duck out of a mobs auto attack range for a few seconds you can switch to axe and use the 2 to get some decent damage and lifeforce. Im constantly moving back and forth between melee and about 500 range if i can without effecting the mobs position or compromising my group by doing so. Traiting into soul marks and using that to gain lifeforce is terrible for lifeforce generation. I can gain about 60+% lifeforce just by using focus 4 and axe 2. Really useful for bosses where you dont have enough dodges to avoid every attack and have to absorb some hits (GL).

Doesnt really matter though. Necro’s are weak in the kind of dungeon runs i run. So i rarely use mine anymore.

Point still stands. Mesmers are one of the strongest classes in pvp and pve and their clone AI is fine.

If he was a newbie, I’d be fine with it. If we’re talking about an experienced player in 48 fotm this is an insta kick no question asked. 48 runs take long enough already, doing these with people who would use something like staff on mobs is pushing it.

The level of experience will determine how I will react. There is no excuse for an experienced player with 4K+ achiev point and 40+ fotm to be that much of a kitten. A new player at 1K achiev and little dungeoning experience, I’d let anything go and try to explain stuff to him. If you’ve played gw2 a lot and are showing any sign of such experience and still didn’t try to learn, well, tough luck, you’re getting booted.

But staff op, tag everything!

Ignore Myrm if your talking about PvE. Staff should only be used in WvW or sPvP. Maybe PvE if your going supporty or conditions or something. For straight power builds in PvE its worth carrying one around but theres no point having it equipped for most fights. Take dagger and warhorn/focus and then for your offhand take axe + focus. Means you dont have to waste trait points on a useless defensive tree which is counter productive in PvE.

Axe auto attack is awful so avoid using that. But the 2 and 3 are actually very good skills.

Lots of supposedly projectiles arent affected by feedback. But most of them can still be absorbed by things like shield of the avenger. Not sure why.

I actually tried a bunker build in pvp a while back where the idea was to stay in DS as much as possible. It worked surprisingly well even though i was forced out of DS very quickly alot of the time. I had the utilities to get lifeforce back immediately. I focused my traits a bit more on spectral skills though. Give the build a try, it could be quite fun, but it will never be completely viable.

Nope completely different. I miss the old gw1 necro. But still enjoy playing the new necro. Although we are terrible for high level end game pve. If you try necro and dont like it i recommend the mesmer. They are currently one of the tier 1 classes in pve and very strong in pvp aswell. Gw2 mesmer is very different aswell but its actually a decent and well designed class.

I tried it today but had to do the WvW ones so i dont actually know if it worked cause i gained 3 achieve points while doing just 1 category. Will test more carefully tonight after reset. I definately had a day or two where it didnt give extra, but that was about a month or two ago.

I’m pretty sure you do. But capping achievement points at 5 per dailies would be a nice idea.

Well ive had my daily done before and it never gave me more achieve points on the extra categories. Even though it counted as more than 5 ap’s on the daily tab. Could of been a bug i guess.

Does it matter? I repeat once again, it’s very easy to understand, in one of your video you had used similiar one. Did it matter until anet fixed it?

They are obviously unaware that they have used an exploit. Ive watched all their vids and cant say i notice any exploit. Please do enlighten us.

Burn is converted to aegis. And Ive not had a problem with removing the burn. He just reapplys burning constantly with some almost invisible aoe’s.

None of the wells do condition damage so im not sure why you want condition damage gear. Well damage scales with power and it can crit. Generally speaking if you’re using mostly wells then you should go for a power build using beserker or knights gear.

Still seems way to op imo. Siphoning should just have a base value which scales with either power or healing or both very slightly.
