This has been said a lot. Give the orb carrier its own set of weapon skills. That will make it more balanced.

Oh, and I doubt that I’ll still play skyhammer. I’m glad they made some changes though. Hopefully this is all part of the new leadership in PvP.

Necro is NOT the highest risk class. Every class has specs that are risky and tanky. You decide how you want to play. If necro feels too risky to you, try a different spec.

Actually, I think warriors are fine right now with the exception of 1 change. This change will only affect PvP:

When under the effects of “Endure Pain” (either the utility or the trait) a warrior should not able able to contest or cap a point.

Simple change and would fix most of the issues.

Halloween Event: a Broken Record

Both of these releases will feature the same content as last year but with refreshed rewards, giving you fun new festival-themed items to earn.”

So, no hope in Year 1 events like Reapers Rumble or Ascent to Madness returning. I had really hoped they would listen and at the very least bring RR back..

Disappointing. That said, you need to understand the ANET mentality on a lot of things. Most players liked year 1 more than year 2. The logical thing would be to bring back year 1. ANET doesn’t think like that though. In their mind, they want to bring back year 2 to see if people like it better this time.

Makes sense? No.

For the most part, the changes were good. ANET is definitely out of touch though when it comes to the engi. They keep buffing the wrong skills.

Also, where is the celestial amulet nerf??? That’s the single biggest change needed in PvP.

They need to bring back year 1’s event. Last year was such a disappointment. No scavenger hunt, ruined clocktower experience, the boss fight was a joke, and the year 1 weapons were replaced with mediocre crap that was hiding behind black lion weapon scraps.

The fight against the Mad King was actually interesting and quite challenging (at the time) so why replace him with his whiny little son that had more bark than bite?

The scavenger hunt gave us a little more to do while we waited for the big showdown, and even gave us a nice backpiece as a reward, but if you for whatever reason decided to drop it, you’re screwed because we didn’t have the wardrobe system in place.

Why not bring back some of the year 1 skins like the ones we could only get as a drop? Lots of people weren’t blessed by RNGesus and didn’t get anything from the Mad King boss fight (all I got was a crappy 10 slot trick-or-treat bag that no longer exists now.) I would love another shot at getting the Greatsaw, and would prefer not spending almost 1500g for the skin.

Oh, and they removed Reaper’s Rumble for whatever reason. Bring that back too, because that was a lot of fun as well.

That said, I don’t expect this to be a huge change. I’m just hoping to see a celestial amulet nerf in PvP as well as a turret engi nerf.

I do have friends on Jade Quarry, but I also know a large amount of amazingly high skilled players on Blackgate.

My question is, which one should I transfer to?

If you really want to come to T1. Join JQ or TC, post season morale and participation is low on both servers at the moment. Either could use more active PvP bodies.

Are you even serious? It seems after the tourney many have transferred over to TC from BG and probably JQ.

No. BG just only shows up for tournaments. If another one started tomorrow, they’d be back and the same strength as before.

I’ve been playing on IoJ my whole life, and its safe to say I’ve built some very solid friendships. Sadly, I’ve also built quite a large amount of enemies. I think after being kicked from my guild, it’s time to start a new journey.

I’ve always wanted to join a T1 Server, especially for WvW. I do enjoy solo roaming, and it will always be my favorite thing to do.

Now I would like to join a T1 Server which will stay at T1 rather than moving up and down from T2. I would like to also join a roaming guild which would be able to help me learn more, and develop as a WvW player.

I do have friends on Jade Quarry, but I also know a large amount of amazingly high skilled players on Blackgate.

My question is, which one should I transfer to?

You don’t transfer to kitten solo roam. You will NOT be happy if you do that. Solo roamers are very few.

You go to T1 for the large scale fights and 24/7 action.

I personally think the Adopt a dev initiative was really successful. Hugh (nightmare) screened 3 times or so during reset night. It was incredibly insightful to hear his comments. It was great hearing about WHY anet made certain changes. I’d say it was the single best communication from ANET that I’ve seen.

We need to see MORE of these types of programs, not less.

I saw once him running in blob on EBG with hamboy on some Murica server lately at night for me on gw2 off stream but after that i couldn’t find the actuall montage or something to watch more of that. Was very interesting but also sometimes frustrating aswell…but it’s realy realy cool, that kind of communication.

Look for the ones called “WvW fall tournament”. I suggest finding the one for week 1 of the season. He spent a lot of time talking about builds, siege disablers, lord banners, etc. I enjoyed it.

Actually feedback during EotM beta was that it was too much in the PvE direction. ANET was proud of their new boss mechanics and didn’t want to change anything. They didn’t realize that people didn’t go to WvW to PvE.

As for the OP: I really don’t understand your complaint. If you want to zerg, go to a high tier server. If you want to roam, go somewhere lower. Some of us actually enjoy large scale fights.

EoTM was never supposed to be “the 5th WvW map”, just like its not now. Its working as intended, more or less. Its “WvW Lite” a place where players can karma train or mess around in while waiting for their queue. Most WvW players rather wait around in LA than hang around the EoTM karma trains but thats their personal preference, EoTM is just to provide them an alternative to sitting around.

Also karma trains were a lot more prevalent in WvW before EoTM, thankfully EoTM gave PVEers a place to run their train instead of the normal borderlands.

It was intended as a place for people to visit during queues (are are correct about that part. of course since wvw is much less popular these days, queues aren’t really a problem other than reset night). The difference is that EotM was intended as a place for ANET to try their new ideas for the future of WvW. Unfortunately, the feedback was that most people didn’t like any of their ideas so it was back to the drawing board.

D/D was never really that viable in sPvP.

*in the last year and a half or so. D/D was the meta when the game first came out. In those days, a target could be insta-downed in one burst series. Today, only eles can do that.

—Both are in a good spot right now. I would like to see warriors have 1 small change: Not able to contest or cap a point when under the effects of endure pain. Guards are still in a good place, but aren’t mandatory anymore, which is a good thing.

- Thief (B+)
- Ranger (B+)
—Both are still viable, but its more about the skill of the individual than the status of the class. For thief, I’d like to see a cloak n dagger buff and a revealed reduction to 3 seconds to match Pve. For ranger, I think they just need some time for the meta to evolve.

Hey, guess the activity on this topics shows well how WvWers rly need a big change. Its impossible to have read all topics but ill risk putting in my 2 cents.

My idea would basically mean a complete overhaul of how WvW works. Fyi, im a former GW1 and GvG player and currently playing GW2 WvW (nothing else : P).

1. Fusion of maps between WvW and EOTM, keeping the 3 colour factions scheme. 1 Single map, EOTM style and not 3 separate like actual WvW;
2. Change reputation from Server to Guilds, meaning the end of servers as we know it in WvW. Guess ppl who didn’t play GW1 might be afraid of this but, from my experience, Guild rep is much stronger than any server rep. No gems from transfer ANET…er.
3. Track guilds activity (hour, points gained for your faction) and make a ladder with guild reputation in WvW (!!!), according to those periods.
4. The beginning of each matchup would see Guilds being assigned faction according to points gathered on, say, 3 different periods of the day (8h each), keeping the balance. ANET could make as many matchups as they like…so, solves the empty WvW server´s issue. This way, a 1 week matchup would be no problem at all.
5. Tracking guilds WvW activity would allow a good assignment to forthcoming matches (ANET responsibility) and, therefore, solve 2 big problems: Population imbalance (again, ANET can start as many matches as they want, say 15-20), and “Night capping” issues severely reduced. Also, PPT would be replaced by Kills, Stomps and Secure map points.
6. Introduce GvG Tournament Arena where Guilds could battle each other (10 Vs 10, 20Vs20) in elimination rounds, say, best out of 3 wins; and also introduce the Guild Challenge Banner (upg with merits and influence), that a guild can lay down on the ground and another can pick up and accept or not. That GvG would have a timelimit of 25 mins. Result would give reputation to winning guild and points for the winning faction side. This would need a thread of its own to develop more insight on it.
7. A concentration of more than 40 players in a 1200 area would give a full map alert and a debuff on that grp, renewed every 2 mins if it still stands. This is to reduce zerging and karma training and improve battle experience overall.
8. Make breaching towers and keeps easier but getting the cap much harder (ditch the golems and siege disabler ideas plz…).
9. Introduce “Ressurection Sickness” when a player rallies/ gets bannered: A player with this debuff (lasting like 2 mins) is truly dead if HP gets to 0 again, no downed state anymore. Meaning: every1 has a chance for 1 rally when downed and not continuously… This would allow samller, more tactical groups to fight bigger numbers more effectively = better fights for every1.

I really hope that ANET does not implement any sort of megaserver technology in WvW. That addition wrecked the sense of community on servers already. Game design 101… an MMO will only sustain if you build communities. Tearing them down is not smart.

A way to fix WvW is to accept that lot of player only play guild wars 2 get loot. So why not make WvW give as much loot as PvE.

So introduce WvW exclusive tracks similar to sPvP, but design in such a way that its progressives faster than getting WvW levels. Make the amount of loot and reward you get equivalent or greater than PvE. PvE will always have more players by virtue of certain players being afraid of any PvP, but a lot of people don’t do WvW because it rewards are terrible.

Nonononnononononononononono. Go to EOTM if you want that.

Turret engy is, one of my friends was playing a bunch of other engineer builds, but when he went turret engy, he told me he won massive amount of games in a row on solo que.

All you do is go far, set up camp, own people, win games. Isn’t that hard to play a turret engy. Normally what this leads to, is you winning 1v1 because most people that go home right away are newbs, and because you have far point the other team starts to get frustrated because they don’t have home and start blaming people. Than eventually they give up and call for turret op, because in reality turret engy as far point attacker is pretty op.

Back then you use to have sumo engies that would sumo for the far point node, and wouldn’t be able to kill you and you wouldn’t be able to kill them. But Anet decided, hey lets make it easier, no skills turrets, you not only get the node but you also kill the person trying to defend it, does good in 1v2 situations as well by annoying the heck out of the other players. Sumo engy required skill, but got nerfed and replaced with a more skilless way to attack far point instead and at higher success rates, the turret engy.

Oh they well get nerfed and balance out, but hey, you mine as well go turret engy and increase your win ratio while it still lasts. Doesn’t really require any skills at all or in depth learning to be good at it. Basically what this is like, a broken questline that gives out too much money that everybody farms. Oh it will get fixed sometime or later but mine as well join the masses of people taking advantage of it. Go turret engy before time runs out and they get wacked with a nerf gun.

Pretty much this. Turret engis might not be effective against a coordinated team, but they do wreck solo queue and at least half of team queue. They definitely need a nerf. Let’s hope with the new change in PvP leadership, we finally see some more frequent balance updates.

Helloween/Mad King Event

So is the blood and madness event going to be an exact copy and paste of last years Halloween minus the features. Cause we already got the features. If so, why not copy and paste the good Halloween from 2012 and not the crappy halloween from 2013? And dont bring up lions arch. No body cares about lions arch.

2012 was definitely better than 2013. Same goes for the holiday event.

My hope is that at the very least ANET brings back that mini dungeon from 2012. That was a lot of fun.

Although a valid solution this setting is not allowed in every aspect of GW2 PvP. An alternative would be to allow standard character models everywhere.

D/D weapon set is fine as is… Id rather see S/P buffed or better trait changes to Acro line.

Nonono. S/P does not need any buffs. The spec was OP in PvP recently and any buffs will make it OP again.

D/D is also not find as is. D/D is a power spec and the 3 skill should also be about power. Instead, thieves should get a new mainhand weapon that is melee condi focused. DB would be a good #2 skill there.

So season 3 was a storm: what did it do?

1. The scoring/siege troll discussions are ridiculous. These are the LAST things real wvw’ers care about. No one cares about PPT/Scoring. We want even matches. Not even scores.

2. Siege Troll is annoying but not nearly as prevelant as most people say. Its rare. So put the resources towards improving the matchups on being even, instead of siege troll fix.

3. Feature Patch 2 was a let down to wvw, siege golem mastery???, need meaninful content after this season

4. JQ Server is now dead thanks

1. Some people do care about PPT. The only ones who SAY they don’t are the ones who get beat every week.
2. This was a big deal during season 2, but not as big of a problem during season 3
3. Agreed. ANET should be ashamed with the pace of their WvW development. They need to either add some resources to the group or they need some fresh ideas out of whoever is running it.

As others have said, I do not think ele is the problem right now. Celestial amulet in PvP needs a nerf. That will resolve a number of issues with both ele and with the engi.

Hello, I am here to ask for criterias that my future teammates have to fullfill in order to participate in future tournaments.

The rules of the current world tournament series are a big mess and caused my team Cheese Mode [CM] to quit the game after we have been #1 for over a year, thank you for this so far.

Now I got noone to play with, but I might try to form a team again with eligable players.

Also you should work on the community instead of pushing tournaments. I tried to find new players to replace underage / non european players for 2 month, but with the current size of PvP community it is almost impossible to find players of equal skill level.

How are JQ and BG doing queue wise. On TC, there are queues of course on reset night, but after that, every server is pretty much open. Is it the same on JQ and BG? I’m surprised that more people aren’t playing during the tournament.

Also, why does it take so long to update results? Wasn’t there an EU qualifier this past weekend? The ToG page isn’t even updated.

It is really hard to care about these types of events when:
1. The pre tournament communications are poor
2. Post tournament results are updated really late

The issue is that engineer is just too effective right now. An average player can dominate a solo queue and 50% of team queue matches (since about 50% are basically just pug matches) using it. The class needs to be brought in line with the others.

I think there were a lot of good fights by all 6 servers. Unfortunately, there are pretty big number differences between the servers. I’d say the closest two servers right now are JQ and TC.
