@OP:
Most of those are not overpowered. There are currently only 3 specs and 1 runeset that need adjustment.
D/D cele ele: There is no way an ele should be the best point defender in the game. It is just too strong
Turret engi: Not great against coordinated teams, but that said, ALL of hot join, ALL of solo queue, and 75% of team queue is uncoordinated. Needs a reduction.
Nade engi: Cele engi is just too good in general. Needs a bit of a reduction
Nightmare runes: Way too strong with the way fear procs.
Trial accounts should NOT be allowed to WvW.
Players should be able to WvW at level 2 (same as PvP).
Add a World boss to Edge of the Mists.
Put the boss in the unused space where the Aetherblades are (and/or under where the trolls are).
Have it spawn at a set time in the match.
Edge of the mists is already PvPvE and this would make it really fun without annoying the “pure” WvW’ers.
This ^^ I’d also remove the EotM achievements from the “competitive” category to something more general. Let’s stop pretending this map has anything to do with WvW.
@OP:
Yes, the leaderboards are horrible. That said, how many people even care about them?
For example, you claim:
d/d ele and engis are dominating pvp
Prove it?
I am not seeing a lot of either. I see more mesmer and thieves then eles, engies, or rangers, all of which are they top OP claims at the moments.
I honestly cannot tell if you are trolling or if you are being serious. You don’t see many d/d ele or engi? Tip of the day: watch the weekly cups
The OP made a definitive declaration based on his personal experience. I demonstrated how my personal differences. The better tip might be for you to understand the topic, then it would be to try to make a backhanded comments. What do you play? Who do you play for, in the weekly cups? Or are you trying to make points based on experiences you do not have?
By the way, does the weekly cup represent the entirety of PvP? or are you using a very small subset as your evidence?
In the time it took you to write this, you could be watching the weekly cup. Then you’d see the classes run by the top teams. Decide for yourself if you see ele or engi. Then you don’t need to have a personal opinion. You can just see the facts for yourself.
For example, you claim:
d/d ele and engis are dominating pvp

D/D ele. Best point bunker at the moment.
@OP:
So, let me understand. You come to a PvP forum where the gamemode is conquest and ask that Engi not be balanced. That makes no sense.
Engi is really strong right now and has been for a long time. The only class that is more OP right now is ele.
It is funny. Obviously they overdid engi and ele. The question is when will they fix it? Based on how close ANET handles balancing issues, my guess is March.
#failesportifnobalance
Everyone (except the balance guy) knew that if they increased the sustain of ele without nerfing the damage, the class was going to become OP. It is disappointing that ANET couldn’t see that happening ahead of time.
So what boost ele got? I haven’t notice any difference.
You must not PvP. Thats’ where they buffed it and created a stupidly OP class.
I can’t tell if this is serious. You want to buff ele? It already needs a serious nerf in PvP.
Same goes for engi.
*Note: I am speaking about PvP only here.
@OP:
Because some specs are over the top. Right now in PvP, engi and ele are stupidly OP. They need an adjustment down.
@OP:
Perplexity runes exist so that bad players can blame that when they die.
The reality is that roaming in WvW is pretty boring. It is just a bunch of condi cheese specs. Boring.
And 3 comments already that add nothing to the thread. Not that I expected more.
Don’t expect a serious answer when you insult someone in your message and have no idea what spec he runs.
I was told it’s bannable to make automated macros a la lightning whip stow weapon, the person told me they can see that the actions are too perfect.
If this is not the case then I have been putting myself at a disadvantage and will be using my k95 more efficiently now.
Someone lied to you
Macros are fine as long as it is “One Click = One Action”. If you record a macro that allows one key press to handle multiple tasks, then you are going against the terms of service as discussed by ANET.
For the lightning whip/stow situation, if someone is performing both tasks with one key press, then yes, they are a cheater. Will they get banned? Maybe or maybe not. I just don’t want to hear about people complaining when they do get banned for cheating.
Can’t be detected and even at a live event you’d have to be watching the players hands to legitimately tell.
Ever experience an ele macro’d scepter burst?
It certainly can be detected. If a player consistently does the same skill with the same timing in between movements, it becomes obvious. That’s one say ANET detects botters.
That said, you missed the point of my message. No guarantee that someone will get banned for it. Some have and probably most haven’t. I just don’t want to hear people complain if they decide to cheat and get caught.
Ok, my 2 cents…
I’m not the greatest player. I would rate myself as a little below average. After being frustrated with turret engis, I decided to roll one to see just how cheesy mode it really is. I never won a 1v1, I almost always got reckt hard in almost every encounter, was stuck to the point, and was more of a hinderance to my team, than an asset. Now granted I am not very familiar with the class, and probably did everything wrong. But the assertion that this class/build is low skill cap, and ultra chees mode is (IMO) not true.
@OP while you may play one, and I am sure you are a much better player then me, it still stands to reason that turret engis can be easily facerolled by a more knowledgable and experienced player without difficulty. A team of them can be countered easily with a good team composition. Does it require a different strategy to take on a team of them? yes, but it can be done. I’ve played against teams with 3 engis, and didn’t have too much trouble. AoEs are your friend, and if you can get them away from their turrets, they don’t stand a chance.
So in conclusion, no turret engis are not OP, and don’t ruin SPVP.
To summarize: “I didn’t do well as a turret engi the first time I played it and so that means the class is balanced”
That is really bad logic. The spec is broken and it needs a nerf. Right now, engis and eles are way too strong and need an adjustment.
I was told it’s bannable to make automated macros a la lightning whip stow weapon, the person told me they can see that the actions are too perfect.

@OP:
Mesmer is definitely not under-represented. It is very strong right now.
The least represented is probably the ranger. Once D/D ele is nerfed, I think you’ll see more rangers act as point defenders. D/D ele is currently the best bunker in the game.
I Love skyhammer! Best map in the game!
I like it too. When it pops it solo queue, I just close the game and do something else for awhile. It is a nice break.
@Grouch, slightly offtopic, but can we get a PvP balance discussion on ready-up soon? Bring back Karl or someone and discuss how they think each class is performing. What’s too strong, and what’s too weak?
I don’t really think they would, in all practicality, delete turrets.
It is a main feature of the class and featured in the trailers. Given how after 2 years there’s only been the addition of a Heal skill to each class and some mediocre traits, there is just no way they would have the time to remove all turrets and implement something else.I understand your frustrations, but it’s probably not going to happen. Not even if my daddy has boatloads of cash, six mansions and is about to acquire HSBC.
Turrets don’t need to be removed. They need to be toned down. As I’ve said in multiple threads, turrets are OP in hot join, all solo queue matches, and 75% of team queue. It is only at the very top end where they are ok, and that is mostly as a result of good team work and coordination.
The two biggest problems in PvP are engi and ele. I’m not sure what is taking ANET so long to fix these classes.
Someone added a lot of old builds to that site. Most aren’t even in the meta anyway. That said, if you want to play engi, you have more options. It is currently the strongest or second strongest class in PvP.
You really just need to play it more. My thoughts:
1. I like the down state. Why? It adds strategy. Strategy is good. Do you go for a stomp, do you try to prevent someone from resing, do you stay on the point? All situational items.
2. The skill comes from knowing when to do dodges. I personally have no issue with the number of stuns in this game. I do have issues with the amount of condis thrown around though.
3. I understand that stealth is hard for people. That said, you will soon wish stealth was the biggest issue in PvP. Wait until you start running into eles and engis.
4. If you feel that way, leave. That said, based on your comments, I just think you need to play more. You aren’t going to be good at first. That’s frustrating. Just practice.
Poor zergs get mad when their trains get derailed by siege disabliers….I’m not feeling y’all’s pain.
You should try roaming. There is a whole other life out there besides zerging. Small havocs are what was impacted by this change. For zergs it is an inconvenience, but not a killer.
Everyone (except the balance guy) knew that if they increased the sustain of ele without nerfing the damage, the class was going to become OP. It is disappointing that ANET couldn’t see that happening ahead of time.
Ranger is definitely NOT OP. Ele and Engi are the problems right now.
There is no balanced matchups these days. Mikau, I suggest you just enjoy playing at the times when you play. The score really doesn’t matter if there is good action during your time zone.
^^ As ark said, this will do NOTHING about balance.
Look, we all want changes. The difference is that we want good changes. Why implement a bad idea just to prove that it is bad? That makes no sense. What we need is a WvW team that actually implements some good features. I’d hate to be sitting in their performance review for the year.
@OP:
I like the ideas, although it took the WvW dev team over a year to introduce color commander tags. How long do you think it would be to implement what you said?
*Edit: Someone pointed out to me that the color tags was more for PvE, so the WvW dev team might not have been involved. Scary.
What makes you so sure the issues is at their end? Just because other internet based activities seems to work fine doesn’t necessarily mean the issues lies with the servers.
I play sPvP now and then and I have never had any issues with rubberbanding and such.
They haven’t been too bad for me either. That said, there seems to be a lot of threads around this topic. You know the saying… when there is smoke there is fire.
The turrets dont die fast because they cant be crit and are immune to condi. I think turret engi is fine. It trades his mobility for ability to be strong in 1v1. Not like builds that have super mobility and are still good at killing players and have OP dmg like shatter mesmer.
Soldier,Valkyrie….amulets exist. You don’t have be zerk,rabid or carrion. Can’t use those with your spec? Can’t find a meta spec with it? What to blame? Deal with it.
There is a blindness outbreak because the specs that can own engi-inserts celestial ele-(sometimes you can even forget the turrets are here) are not lacking and are countered by conquest even the tactics themselves. How this is not seen? If they won’t introduce new modes then adapt your meta spec to deal with it. The main reason pvp is messed up is the QQ and meta created by conquest.
This may be pvp forums but if the blindness is that great keep it up for and see your hope slowly torment you. Some people happen to like AI specs just saying I am more of a condi guy.
Saying it again: “Turrets were made to be strong/viable at conquest and what are you playing?”.
You are pretty much the only person on the PvP forums who says not to balance around PvP. Like it or not, conquest is the game mode here. We need balance in conquest mode.
I genuinely cannot tell if this is a troll thread. Personally, I’d like to see people on rank farm servers banned in general.
@OP:
I do agree that there needs to be more information on these tournaments. Look at it this way. Let’s say there is a baseball game last night. Tomorrow you wonder who won, but you can’t find the results anywhere.
That’s the current state of GW2 PvP. If ANET wants it to be an e-sport, they need to treat it like a sport.
Introduce a viable non-conquest mode and you will see how effective AI is instead of complaining when this is the only mode where they want turrets to be active.
is not the only option, reduce the a lot the HP of the turrets and alot also redude the CD . . . fixed.
Enemy can focus to destroy fast the turrets before attacking the engi . . .
Now if you focus on turrets at the time you finally destroy them u r alsmot dead and engi 100% hp.
Because of conquest most focus on melee everything making it harder to deal with turrets and the specs that deal with it are not lacking it’s the same thing with celestial ele. That circle forces to take AoE fields,not kite….and then players complain because their specs are countered..what did you expect??? Then they want to balance around that circle!!! Just bull kitten.
Go in wvw and tell me if the pvp QQ is solid there.
I think you are offtopic. This is a PvP thread and balance about PvP. WvW is a different forum.
I’m surprised you are defending the two most OP professions in PvP. Ele and Engi are both too strong right now.
I already have bleed stacks by then and sneak attack/dodges adds more.
You’ve likely never played a Mesmer without condi cleanse have you? I cant give up utility for a unreliable cleanse that’s bugged 50% of the time.
Yeah, as others have said, if you are running no cleanse in this meta, that is a build issue for you. You will get wrecked by any condi build.
As others have said, the issue is that matchmaking is solo queue or horrible. Unless that is fixed, you will always have people leaving.
That said, I don’t know why anyone does solo queue. The rewards aren’t great, and you tend to run into a lot of people who think they are the best player in the game. Those people also tend to tell everyone how good they are while they are dead and waiting for the respawn timer.
I’m starting to think that there is no WvW dev team. Look at everything that has launched for 2014. What has really been launched? A new PvE map (although that work was really done in 2013) and another mastery skill.
It seems as if ANET has decided to focus on other areas.
They just need to give the orb carrier it’s own set of skills. Remove all the class specific stuff. That will balance the map and not surprise people with orb drops.
I am fine with sigils and runes as-is with the exception of nightmare.
I do agree that celestial needs a nerf though.
I would actually like to see the changes reverted. BUT only on the condition that the map be pulled out of Solo Queue rotation. Solo queue should mirror Team queue.
Skyhammer allows me to spec completely tanky and still regularly 1-shot opponents. Any map that allows for that behavior is a troll map. That’s what Skyhammer is.
The improvements move it slightly closer to a conquest map, but the design is inherently flawed as a conquest map. I feel like you should embrace the troll nature of the map, revert the changes and stick it in its own queue.
At least reverting the changes allow engies and thieves to troll as hard as the rest of us.
As an aside, Spirit Watch needs to be pulled from rotation as well and repurposed for another game mode. I really do feel that Solo Queue map rotation should match Team Queue exactly. My 2 cents.
Agreed. Not sure why ANET is trying so hard to make this a tournament map. Leave it as it was and let it be in hot join. That is where it belong. Not all maps are made for tournaments.
As for spirit watch, if they gave the orb carrier its own set of skills and not able to use class specific skills, utilities, etc, the map would be fine for solo queue. It’s just not good right now.
Anyone who plays the game except for turret engis knows the spec needs a nerf. Not sure why it is taking ANET so long to address it
As i am seeing some changes in WvW being applied in December.
It got me wondering if anything new is being cooked up in Anet’s kitchen that relates to WvW?
Has a CDI about WvW been picked up yet?
Has a suggestion been going around the boardroom to make WvW a viable part of Guildwars2?
Are any dev’s assigned to create awesome stuff for WvW?
Unfortunately, I think ANET picked the few items that most people said were bad ideas and decided to implement those. Crazy.
Instead, I’d love to see smaller changes like 1 person can’t contest a keep.
They know WvW is stale and dead. They can only lure PvEers to WvW with promises of brief rewards like Hero skins. EotM thrives due to PvE content with an overly abundant WvW reward payout.
It would take to much energy for them to get off their collective backsides and infuse excitement and newness into WvW, they would have to create things, and with the terrible rewards WvW gives, no one would care to WvW just for new maps.
I don’t think they actually believe that WvW is in trouble. There was an interview with the WvW lead over the summer and he said that player population numbers have remained stable. That means one of two things:
1. He lied. I doubt this since anyone with half a brain knows there are less people in WvW than a year ago
2. He is counting EotM into the total WvW number and doesn’t realize that people are in that map to karma train. If they rewards were nerfed, people would leave.
and yet this still doesn’t explain why rapid fire amongst all other ranged channel skills like unload get to ignore stealth as a defensive mechanic almost entirely.
How did you make this assumption?
RF is not the only one to ignore stealth as a defensive mechanic, every channeled targetted skill does that. Oh man, get your stuff together, really….i said that all channeled skills including those like unload track through stealth
it is a profession-crossing mechanic that needs to be changed, especially with the pandemic that is longbow rangers in this game
I distinctly remember a “pandemic” of cheese thieves abusing perma stealth with D/P and all we ever heard from them was “L2P”
I take it you are newer here. The channel skill has been like that since the game launched.
If people play to rank 80, that’s like 3 months worth, and if they stop playing afterwards, its only because this game has terrible PvP and not worth playing.
If this game has terrible PvP, it should stop focusing on eSports and focus on making its PvP better than focus on eSports.
If this game problem is that nobody wants to try PvP, than my incentive still stands better than any other thing they are doing.
3 months? Maybe if you play 8 hours a day in team queue. Getting to 80 takes longer than that for more regular players.
I would much prefer to have all skills and traits unlocked without needing to pay for them.
Not sure what is worse, the in game complainer, or the complainer who comes to the forums to post about it.
Have you guys genuinely never seen something come out of a CDI? Have you truly never seen changes that were outlined, discussed, and honed in the forge of the CDI system?
.
In WvW or PvP? Correct, comments have been ignored.
In PvE? Yes the CDI have been valuable.
@Gail,
I think we need a much bigger change in transfer prices. Something like:
T1: 3000
T2: 2500
T3:1800
T4: 1800
T5: 1200
T6: 800
T7: 300
T8: Free
Transferring down 2 or more tiers would remove 200 gems from the cost.
In other words, encourage people to continue going to lower tiers. Why? The tier is all about population balance. Even it out.
