Devon ain’t WvW coordinator anymore. Got promoted to competitive design lead for pvp, wvw and balance.
So the guy who thought buffing arrow carts and rams was a good idea is now also in charge of balance. May god have mercy on our soul.
haha. Surely you joke.
Let’s just be honest here…Anet just want us to feel important with the Cdi. They ignore everything people say and do another fail season, the next one(already been said there will be a 3rd) will be a complete fail worse then s2.
Anet really just wants $. If they truly cared about the game, they would have done it lol ago and stopped catering to the pve care bears who complain at every little thing. Sounds like blackgate to be honest…
Actually, it seems as if there may be new WvW leadership at ANET. If that is the case, maybe there is hope for this next CDI.
@OP:
It seems as if there may be new WvW leadership at ANET. If that is the case, then the CDI is a good idea.
how can you call putting a bronze league server against 2 silver leagues fair? what the actual @#!*^
Stop whining. Your server should have been the lowest server in silver during the league. You just got lucky that the SoR free-fall hadn’t finished at the time.
Warrior. Turreteer. MM.
This is pretty much your best bet. I’d also add spirit ranger to this list.
The basic concept of release all your passives (spirits, minions, turrets) will work perfectly fine in solo queue except at the highest levels. Just remember to fight on points at all times with those specs.
The only ban should be to exclude rune of strength.
@OP:
You would completely kill WvW. Do you hate it or something?
@OP: You are not forced to play it. People just tend to follow the best players. Sizer is probably considered the best S/D thief, and so people just follow whatever build he uses. If he switched his build, that would then become the new “must-use” build.
It is the same thing when everyone was running the old caed D/P. Was it the best D/P build? Maybe, but it was mostly popular because the best players started running it/
@OP: No way. This is a horrible idea. The fun part of WvW is seeing the same faces every day, whether they are in the same guild or not. Mega servers has destroyed that sense of community in PvE and I’d hate to see that same thing happen in WvW.
A number of us recommended to ANET to not cap the rank at level 80. ANET thought they were right. It is unfortunate that sometimes people need to make a mistake before they learn from others.
I’d be happy with two small changes.
1. Remove rune of strength from PvP
2. Lower burn durations
@OP:
Need to choose here. Server stacking or fair fights. If one server wants to buy a lot of guilds, they need to understand that they will get a 2v1.
@OP: I hope you are never on any of my teams. All AFK should be reported for botting (per ANET). There will always be tough matchups. Don’t play in a ranked game if you are scared of them.
when im out #ed 3 to 1, them killing me in a third of the time doesn’t show that they were any better skilled then I was. it just show’s that I have a third less amount of abilities in order to win.
Go to PvP if you are looking for fair fights. In WvW, there are larger strategies at work.
Be careful what you wish for. The last thing we need is for WvW to look more like EotM.
2) Stale matchups, with no chance of finding more even matchups. Locking servers in a League for 2+ months is a terrible idea because server population and effort drastically change in that time frame. The top servers get bored, and the bottom servers collapse.
You are both wrong and right here:
The part where you are wrong:
The leagues actually create MORE varied matches. That’s just the nature of the swiss style tournament.
The part where you are right:
Some servers do not belong in their league. In silver, SoR got stuck in that league in the middle of a collapse. They shouldn’t have been in the league.
What to do about HoD? They likely won’t be able to compete with any of the T2 servers, so I think T3 is stuck with them for awhile.
At equal talent:
Mesmer > thief
Thief > ele
decline started whit wxp-bonus-dmg to arrowcarts
made wvw annoying and a waste of time
I agree on the AC part but I think it was before wxp.
No thank you. There is a reason that EotM is for PvE players. Ask someone to defend something there. It is intended as a karma train. Nothing more, nothing less.
Just because the players turned it on a giant karma train, doesn’t mean it was designed for that…
Correct. It was designed as ANET’s way to show the WvW community their vision of the future. ANET expected that everyone would love this map and want the new features integrated into regular WvW. They were wrong.
EotM is just superior game mode.
+1
The Megaserver aspect of EoTm and the low likelihood of being hopelessly
outnumbered are what makes it better. We need that on regular WvWvW and make that AvAvA.
No thank you. There is a reason that EotM is for PvE players. Ask someone to defend something there. It is intended as a karma train. Nothing more, nothing less.
ANET still has not learned. These large events that need good coordination should not be part of living story. Those events should be something accessible for guilds and is a perk for the guild.
Living story events have a mass number of randoms and the fights need to take that into account.
They already implemented all of their commander plans. Based on the CDI, they no longer show a commander tag to enemy players.
WvW players are greedy. What else would you really want them to deliver over a short 6 month development cycle?
jk jk
Condi gear need to be good at something. Condi spec mainly work against low skilled players.
lolol. You don’t know much about the meta.
I was hoping ANet would learn from season 1 of the living story and improve upon their game design. Instead it seems they threw together everything they could think of to make this the poorest designed content to date.
Access to the event is poorly restricted, requiring players to spend gold to activate it! Requiring players to spend a general currency to unlock an event of all things is one of the worst methods of restriction. Something far more appropriate would be an event players would need to complete to start it up or having to donate a resource obtain from killing monsters around the arena.
The bosses are damage sponges that repeat the same few actions over and over, providing no challenging mechanics or true risk. Of the few players that are downed they are easily brought back up by surrounding players, and those who die can just waypoint and be back in the fight in 10 seconds.
Rewards for participating are severely lacking. Monster drops are almost non-existent and the bosses don’t even drop a champion bag. Completion rewards are reduced the longer the players take to complete the content when the speed of completion should be enough of an incentive in itself. For bronze completion you’re looking at 2 champion bags and a green. Because of the gold cost of starting up the event you can lose money for taking part in this event.
Please stop nonsense like this.
Well said. I really hope that this is no indication of the next living story.
Honestly, it would have been better to just release the exact same content from last time. ANET, why would you dedicate people to this, and then roll out a product that was worse than the first time around? It literally makes no sense.
Fear not. I am sure ANET will amuse and delight us with a new mastery skill soon.
sigh
The best first step for this meta is to remove rune of strength from PvP. That will help with the bunker meta. Right now they can run that rune and still do a good amount of damage even though they are so defensive.
Next up is to reduce the condi spam.
I am reporting anyone who posts the link for scamming. I hope they get a 48 hour ban.
But since thief highly counters mesmer
Never noticed this, 4/4/0/0/6 shatter.
And no to your request, 3s stability from a stolen ability from a steal that might not even land and clones usually deal with Aegis. You can also make a build focusing on destroying boons if it bothers you that much.
Maybe you never faced good thieves then, cause overall, thief is the hard-counter to mesmers at the moment.
Might not even land? Either that mesmer can dodge really good, or the thief is just failing to spam f1.
Make a build to counter a skill? Let’s just not do that shall we?
The stability and aegis are both not in the description, while the buffs are already long enough. The moment you think you can counter the thief by using I-wave when he uses his shadow refuge, it wont push him out cause he uses the cheap steal skill. The skill is already strong enough without it, why put both aegis and stability on it too? It’s not like mesmer gets stability from the signet of inspiration. It’s actually funny cause mesmer has almost 0 access to stability.
Wrong. At equal skill levels, a mesmer should win.
In my opinion, ANET should change the way that condi damage is calculated. For direct damage, a person cares about power, precision and ferocity. For condi, you really only need to care about condi damage and condi duration. Because of only needing two stats, it allows people to spec much more defensively and still do a lot of damage.
Instead condi damage should be changed:
1. Cut the damage of all base condi damage by 25%
2. Allow condi damage to “crit” meaning precision is now an important stat
3. Crit condi damage would be allow a fixed 50% damage increase over base (ferocity doesn’t matter)
So, how does this work in practice? A rough example and just using a 100 condi tick as an example.
Today: 100 condi damage
Future with no crit: 75 damage
Future with crit: 112.5 damage
No mounts please. They really are not needed this in game.
Given how ridiculous condition spam build is, strength rune is vital to combat condition builds and give power builds a fighting chance. if you nerf it, condition builds will again become the most dominant build and thus trumps any power builds out the window.
This game doesn’t need to turn into condition wars 2 just because this rune rustled a few jimmies.
The issue is that this game has turned into condition tank wars 2.
Rune of strength should be removed from PvP.
Condis need a nerf.
Ranger is fine. The spirit ranger build is still really strong. The only difference is that they increased the benefits of using ele too much and that encourages people to use the class over a ranger.
@Mark,
I suggest a change next time. I’d do the following:
1. Two days after the event: Anyone who has submitted their reward choices should get the rewards right away. You do not need to wait for a full team to respond. Send to those who have responded.
2. Two weeks after the event: Last call for rewards. If anyone hasn’t submitted their reward choice by that date, it is forfeit.
The six rune bonus for this set gives regeneration every second. According to the GW2 wiki, the amount of healing (at level 80) is calculated as:
43 + (0.023 * Healing Power) per second
That means at 1000 healing power, you are receiving: 43 + 23 = 66/hp per second. That is incredibly low for a 6 rune bonus. Even a cheap food buff can give more.
Instead, I’d like to see the formula changed to something like this:
43 + (0.057 * Healing Power) per second. That means at 1000 healing, a person would receive 100/HP per second.
@OP:
So let me understand… we are currently in a tanky meta and your solution is to make it even more tanky? No thanks.
@OP:
Actually in PvE, the runes are fine. I have no problem there.
In PvP, I think the entire rune set should be removed. It just isn’t balanced, and allows people to spec more defensively and still do a lot of damage.
I wouldn’t worry about it too much. The people complaining the most usually are also the worst player on the team.
Bunker guards are actually ok. The issue though in general that bunker specs across all classes are too powerful. People can spec bunker and still do a lot of damage. That isn’t a good thing.
Don’t worry. I’m sure at some point we will get an update that includes some new lame mastery skill.
Let’s assume anyone absent from a match for ‘x’ minutes is considered a disconnect and given dishonor regardless of whether they return. What happens to the 9 other people? Are they forced to play out the rest of the match? Should their ratings be adjust still? What about rewards?
In this case, assuming the team with 5 wins:
1: The game continues to the end
2: The team with 5 gets full winner rewards and a win for the game
3: The team with 4 gets the loser rewards, but their W-L record and MMR are not impacted
4: The person who left gets no rewards and they get a L and their MMR is impacted
Ever since the April 15th build, matchmaking in solo queue has gotten so much worse. Some people in one of the mists maps were discussing and they said it is because not enough people are playing in PvP. That makes no sense.
ANET has told us that PvP is more popular than ever. If so, why is there a decline in matchmaking quality?
We really need a revamp here. It seems to me that an INCREASE in the number of people have shown more problems with the current system. It just isn’t very good.
Btw I played the same hambow spec for a year now and nothing really changed about it tbh.
Hammer 4 cast time reduced and can be used when moving
Unsuspecting for moved to master tier
Paralyzation sigil fixed
Combustive shot radius reduced at lower adrenaline levels and damage ticks reduced
Hammer 4 Damage reduced
Earthshaker damage reduced
Armored attack buffed from 7% to 10%
Lyssa runes reworked
Strength runes buffed
Swap sigils no longer share icd’s
Healing Signet passive reduced
Merciless hammer damage reduced
Pin down cast time increased/new animation
Arcing arrow damage reducedOther than that yeah, it’s basically the exact same build.
Maybe you forgot about healing signet getting a major buff.
that is irrelevant as warriors were free kills during 200 health / second healing signet era.
the popular rage build hambow among others only came to light when healing signet was buffed to 392 health / second from 200 health / second.
True. Warriors have never received any buffs in the history of the game. lolol
The main meta issue currently is rune of strength. This runeset should be removed from PvP.

or just make warrior immune to the skyhammer damage.
Perhaps edge of the mist is why the megaserver thing never moved into WvW itself with a three faction matchup. Arenanet likely saw how destructive the effect of having no commitment to a wvw side was and decided against it.
Edge of the mist turned WvW into the queensdale champion train and that’s pretty horrific.
I see it completely differently; that Anet didn’t learn from the EoTM debacle:
EoTM was a guinea pig for megaservers (PvE and WvW). The biggest lesson to be learned was that community is really important. Anet did not learn this and we got the current form of megaservers in PvE.
Chances are they still haven’t learned anything and megaservers will be coming to WvW sooner rather than later.
Agree and disagree.
Agree part: ANET did not learn that the mega server is horrible for community building
Disagree part: I don’t think ANET will bring this to WvW. Why? If they remove server identity from WvW, there is zero reason for anyone to transfer. No transfers mean less gem sales.
@OP:
I don’t think the majority of players look at EotM the same way that you do unfortunately. PPT does not matter in this realm and most players don’t really care about winning. They go to EotM to level characters, complete dailies, gain karma, or test new specs.
They should have allowed glory boosters to be traded for other boosters. That would have been fair.
The ANET logic of us having advanced notice was just wrong. They were still giving out glory boosters until the moment they went away.
