Fix one thing with warrior: Do not allow them to cap or contest points when under the effects of “endure pain”
The only way you will see a buff to dagger offhand is if sword mainhand is nerfed. Right now, S/D is the meta spec and ANET isn’t going to buff it.
I’m not sure what’s worse, the QQ thread of the day about how someone lost to a thief so they want them removed from the game, or the people who feel the need to decide that the 2/0/0/6/6 build is or isn’t sizer’s.

You said it yourself, it never used to be good. Who cares if you’re the guy who’s been playing the build for a year, it was never good. Now that it’s in the meta, it’s there because sizer brought it there (oh wait, that’s what meta means. someone who has publicity attached to their name started doing it and it trickled down to the masses, holy kitten, guess it’s his build).

I actually think some of these people are serious. That would be incredibly sad if ANYONE thinks direct damage is better than condi right now.
Necro could use some buffs in PvE as long as those buffs are not carried over to PvP or WvW.

Wow, some people will complain about anything. I really hope I am never at a party with you.
Any warrior that is tough to face uses it. What’s worse is they get 2 endure pains from the trait and the utility.
The reality is that warriors are going to get nerfed. The change at least only impacts PvP and doesn’t impact their offense at all.
Yeah. Thief is not a class you want on your team right now. Other professions can do the job better.
While under the effects of “endure pain”, a warrior should not be able to contest or cap points.
If that one change was made, I don’t think anything else needs to be adjusted.
Unfortunately, I get the feeling that they have no idea how to balance the classes. It is easy to determine what a class SHOULD do. It is a lot harder to actually implement it. It feels like ANET has just given up. It took 6 months for a balance patch, which wasn’t really even a balance patch. They also didn’t have a plan in place to deal with the most OP skills until the last minute (when grouch posted some threads on the topics).
It really is time for ANET to either make some changes or just admit they have no idea what to do. They can have all the little catch phrases in the world, but if they don’t implement anything, it doesn’t matter.
So, when is the next balance patch? It is ridiculous that it took 6 months for minimal changes.
I’d say nerf ally vision before nerfing HS. I get where you’re coming from, since I see thieves doing this all the time and often dying. Doesn’t mean nerf the skill, its just bad players making bad decisions.
Yes, and to encourage bad players to get better and spread into different builds. Maybe the best course of action is for Anet to push them in the right direction by altering their beloved HS spam.
It really can’t be as terrible as some people are making it out to be, otherwise no one would bother using it.
You realise that this threads tend people to spam hs? Because some people cannot find their dodge key and so they think that hs is op.
Srsly, I think I can beat a hs spammer with a warrior, guardian, engi, thief without even moving.

Maybe it should be a hint to you that you are wrong. As others have told you, HS spam isn’t really effective against anything other than the worst players. When above 50% health, a HS doesn’t do much more damage than a regular auto attack. So, if someone wants to HS spam, let them. They are an easy kill.
Think about it this way…. would you rather someone sit there auto attacking you and still have a full initiative pool, or someone spam HS, and be out of initiative?
Do any top thieves still run d/p? I thought most went to S/D. There are a number of reasons for that, but the current condi meta is a big one.
The issue with the tournament is that there are only 4 teams or so in each region that have any chance to win. There aren’t many good teams and the teams that are good are way better than everyone else.
I’d say to keep it simple. Kills, deaths, decaps, caps
Just wanted to say thank you for being so constructive in this thread guys. We’re watching threads like this one, and we really find peaceful debates to be highly useful for us when gathering balance perception data.
We know food is an issue that definitely gets people passionate, so thank you for staying calm while voicing your opinions! I can’t make any promises on fixes, but I can say we’re debating this issue internally just like you guys are, and we use your points/counterpoints as reference in our discussions.

+/- duration food allows for people to better plan strategy. This game lacks that already and removing more of it is a bad idea.
Be careful what you guys wish for. We don’t need more EotM karma train maps.
The main reason why EotM is a karma train is because it doesn’t count towards a server’s score. If EotM was one of the maps contributing to server score during the season when everyone was try-harding for their shiny weapon skins (which they are still butt-mad about), I can guarantee there would be plenty of defensive play on it.
True, but the other downside is that the three sides are not balanced very well and has limited opportunity for larger fights. It just isn’t a good WvW map.

How many years will it take for you, Arena Net, to make Spirit Weapons on Guard actually usable in WvW and sPvP?
Hopefully never. No one enjoys playing against passive skills such as spirit weapons, spirit rangers and mm necros.

Siege decay is important to prevent trolls as others have mentioned.
In addition, I’d like to see an individual player siege cap. No player should be able to have more than 5 siege deployed at one time on a cap. This is again to prevent the trolls. A individual should also be able to despawn siege that they deployed. That would allow a commander to despawn their flame rams after taking a tower.

If Conditions are so “brokenly OP”, why does everyone consider Conditions worthless in PvE? Worthless in WvW zergs? And even roaming in WvW is dominated by power builds, not conditions.
And yes, even in sPvP as we clearly saw very recently in the ToL, Conditions builds are quite unpopular in higher tiers of skill.
Even tough people like you have been spouting their anti-condition dogma for months prior to the ToL, yet it clearly shows it that those who “learned to play” deal with conditions so well, hardly anyone bothers running it.All you present here is anecdotal “evidence”, and a bunch of buzz words and self-declared facts that are actually not true at all. Basicly you sit here, wave a pretty screenshot in our face, feed us a bunch of lies and deceit, and expect everyone to keel over and join your “Lets Destroy Condition Builds”-movement.

You clearly do not play WvW. You are completely wrong about zergs. A lot of them run food to reduce condi duration. Why? Condi is OP there.
You are also wrong about about TOL. It is about bunker, not power.
Balance philosophy: “Shave” once every 6 months.
Correction: “Shave once every 6 months, but do not touch the OP specs”.
Seriously though, you guys need to balance things more frequently. Saying “we want to see how the meta plays out” is a lame (and lazy) excuse. It becomes pretty obvious pretty quickly what is OP and UP after a patch.
This is what should have been done with glory boosters instead of just taking them away with no compensation.

Actually, we are people who want to see ANET change course and not destroy this game. Look how many people have left to play a certain other game. What have PvP players gotten in the last year? I’ll summarize:
1. Skyhammer
2. Broken OP specs that that forever to tone down
3. Removal of glory boosters without any compensation
4. A rank cap of 80 which eliminated any sense of progression for the hardcore
5. PvE track rewards
6. A tdm map that is only accessible if someone buys an arena
7. A broken matchmaking system
Seriously, I am struggling to see how ANET has improved PvP at all.
Back to the original thread though…certain specs are OP or UP and most players know about those. How long did we complain about decap engi, spirit ranger, mm necro, hambow, s/p thief and others before they finally made the change?
ANET just needs to have more frequent balance patches.
It is always good to see these types of threads. At least there are some new players coming into GW2.
This whole thread is about 18 months late. At this point in the game, the meta is around condi tank builds. It is unfortunate that the OP doesn’t realize this.
That said, I have no problem with S/D being toned down. I just think there are a lot of bigger problems that need to be addressed first.
ANET: You really need to give an update soon on your upcoming balance changes. It has been 2 months since the last patch, and nothing. Balance is currently terrible, and a number of suggestions have been made on the forums.
Please start to take this seriously. This game is bleeding players to other games, and for those of us still left, we’d like to see it make a comeback. That cannot happen if you continue on the current path. Of course, if you just want all of us to play other NCSOFT games, tell us that as well.
This idea was suggested before the patch. ANET thought no one cared about ranks. I’d love to see whether their PvP playcount justified their decision.
Actually, someone did bring up a good point earlier… removal of the matchup threads was a dumb move by ANET. Getting people passionate for their servers is a good thing. Instead people have gotten bored and moved onto new items.
I’m still hoping that the rumors of new WvW leadership are true. The last guy had a poor vision for where WvW could go. My hope is that someone else can take us in a better direction.
So, let me understand…. we just had 9 weeks of a season where you had different matchups every week and somehow you are sick of facing the same servers every week?
I would LOVE for skins to be in the templates. I’m sure I’m not the only one who runes different weapons/visual armor in PvP vs PvE vs WvW. It is a pain to switch all the time between game modes.

@OP: I agree that eles have the biggest burst in the game. That said, I think you should also add in a gc mesmer build and test that.
I find it funny how people complained so bitterly about Dhuumfire and Sun Spirit RNG procs and now we have Sigils of Air and Fire proccing for 5k+ damage every 10 seconds but since it’s power damage people think it is fine.
Why can Thief get away with running 20066 right now? Dodge all day and wait for your RNG Air/Fire procs to make up for your bad DPS.
This is just as poor of design as Dhuumfire or Incendiary Powder, yet people have deluded themselves into thinking that (for some unknown reason) power is more ‘virtuous’ than conditions
Huh? It is a condi meta right now. Condi rules. That’s why you see people playing that S/D spec you mention and why D/P trickery died out.
Also, you are wrong about air/fire being the reason that spec works. It works because of rune of strength. Sure, air/fire help, but without rune of strength, that spec would hit like a wet noodle.
Necro is too far down in many of your lists. Condi spam is the current meta regardless of class.

dude, the only way to revive the ranger is to give back what they had taken away from the spirit build. sb kinda looks spammy because crossfire attack speed is fast and you get to use it a lot while you are waiting fo your other weapon skills to get off cd. stop with these hasty judgements.
The spirit build is still a brain-dead option. It needs to be nerfed further and other ranger builds need to be buffed.
Look at the predicted rankings at the bottom of this page. The higher the server, the greater the population.
I remember back in the day when BG used to rip on SoR for cheering about bags when they were losing and cheering about ppt when they were winning.

The reality is that people outside of T1 don’t really care. Regardless of who wins any particular season, it comes down to who has the best coverage. Congrats? At the very least, it was nice to see two servers punish the guild buyers.
I’ve seen a Diamond Invader on Overgrowth (at EotM) last week… Which means he was at least 6445.
That makes me sick to my stomach. I dint rank up fast because I’m constantly defending boderlands, but I still feel like I’ve put a ton of hours into WvW, but I’m not even a fraction as close to that rank.

Please be respectful. If its the comm I have in mind, then she (yes—its a she) is one of the most talented comms I have met on eotm (and wvw—-which is saying something!) ; is very pro active and will demolish and harass both enemy teams, even when not on green.

It should be less of a criticism of the individual, and more about the rewards structure of EotM. It is disappointing that the best PvE farming area is EotM. I’d personally like to see the rewards nerfed in EotM and increased in WvW.
The game is quite balanced. Some classes need to be buffed a little bit like mesmer and power ranger but I don’t think there’s OP stuff that needs a massive nerf just a tweak.
You need to specify which game mode. PvP, WvW, PvE?
In PvP, the game is definitely not balanced. Certain specs rule the game.
In WvW, it is in a decent spot with the exception of a ranger which is horrible
In PvE, things are still dominated by warriors, guards, and eles (in groups, not solo).

We will see. My hope is that rune of strength are removed from PvP but left as-is in PvE and WvW. In PvP, they are currently OP. They are not over the top in PvE or WvW.
As my signature says, eliminate the concept of worlds and make it an alliance vs alliance system. Create 3 alliances. Players would choose one alliance first thing when they log-in after the system is implemented. Change alliances would cost gems, same way it costs to change worlds now. When entering in AvA, you would be put in the same instance of your guildies and friends (megaserver’s technology). Talk to your guild to see what alliance they’ll choose. Because of the instances, the battles will always be even. You will play with the people you know. There’s something to replace the server pride (the alliance).
There. Balanced amazing battles everywhere, with people you know, without queues.
You’ve clearly never tried to organize large guild missions in the new mega server system. Your idea sounds good, but it is a major pain when actually implemented. Also, a lot of us enjoy seeing the same people every day, guild or not. Your idea would kill that.
1. Get new WvW leadership. Why? While I’m sure the previous guy was nice, he didn’t have a very good vision for the game mode.
2. New commander type features. Why? It would increase the strategy level and would give smaller guilds and easier time.
3. New simple maps. By that, I mean don’t go down the direction of EotM. It looks nice, but it is a horribly balanced map with too much emphasis on NPCs. Give us maps in the spirit of the current WvW maps. Why? No one wants to play unbalanced maps and if I wanted to fight NPCs, I’d go to PvE.
4. Lower the rewards in EotM and increase them in WvW. Why? Right now EotM is a PvE karma train. It would be much better to get some of those people interested in WvW.
It wasn’t really broken; the season was just too long.
Actually, EotM was ANET’s vision for the future of WvW. They didn’t take into account the feedback from players and wanted to show the community the right way to do it. Unfortunately, EotM did turn out to be nothing more than an unbalanced karma train.
My hope is that ANET has learned from their mistake and will take future CDI comments more seriously. Supposedly there is new WvW leadership now. If true, that would be a great move since the previous leader was a bit stubborn when it came to outside ideas.
