They say that as if it’s because it would ruin the “competitiveness” of the leagues. In reality, it’s just an excuse to not do as much work on WvW as they should.
The competitiveness part is BS of course. A significant portion of the league results were determined before the season even began.

Defense is not boring. It is simply not rewarded. Without reward you expulse defenders out of WvW or they are most of the time forced to run in zergs to get rewards. I am a passionate defender, but I am simply falling behind in respect to WXP and other reward without zerging from time to time. Other defenders simply left or do not even enter WvW.
Agree and disagree. Agree that it is not rewarded. Disagree about the boring part. It is insanely boring. Even if the rewards were equal, more people would play offense. Why? It’s more fun to use your character than to sit on a piece of siege.
That doesn’t apply to everyone of course… I am just speaking in broad numbers.
What process? All that happened was you guys said “Population imbalance is the most requested issue with WvW, discuss.” Then a lot of people posted ideas, Devon posted questions occasionally, and then closed the thread and said thanks for the input, will use as reference. Population imbalance is still an issue, I still have no idea what Anet plans to do to fix it, or even what direction they are taking. What exactly was accomplished other than fishing for ideas from players, which were already posted on the forums in the first place? How can you review a collaborative development initiation when there was no collaboration or development?
This ^^. The main theme I hope that Chris takes from this is that we need more collaboration on the WvW side. It seems there is a very set vision from ANET for how to implement WvW. Let’s start some real collaboration.
Compare the WvW thread with the PvE or PvP threads. Those seemed like a collaborative experience. The WvW one did not.
Specific to WvW
1. Need more ANET presence in the WvW thread. The collaboration piece was very minimal for “World Population”.
2. Need to be open to all ideas, not just the easy ones. A significant portion of the discussion was dismissed outright. That’s not collaboration
3. Very focused topic.
Having a blast this week against Mag and TC who are now showing up and fighting us as we don’t massively outnumber them anymore. The PPT from Sunday on has been back and forth, it’s great.
This ^^. I really only care about the battles during NA since that is when I play. The past couple of nights, all 3 servers have been ticking in the 200s at time. That leads to good fights.
Only a very few people really care about the overall scoreboard. What matters is whether it is fun for them when they play.
I’m fine getting rid of the permastealth. I do not use that anyway since it gives up too much dps.
That said, I hope you are doing more than just nerfing infusion of shadows. That would be rather short sighted. Give it the following changes.
1. Only applies when entering stealth (this kills the permastealth and is what you’ve planned)
2. Increase the initiative gain to 3 or 4.
That way permastealth is dead, but the trait could still be valuable for certain specs.

I think the whole CDI concept was great. The one for the living story and the one for PvP showed great interaction.
I do recommend getting more ANET presence in the WvW thread next time. That one felt more half hearted than the others. We didn’t really have any collaboration there. I don’t think the summary really captured a good part of the dialog either.
@OP: You can’t win with an ele on your team? That seems to speak more to your own talent level.
The unfortunate reality is this… PvP in its current format is a fail. It is just notpopular enough to justify a huge amount of development effort with the current conquest model. I think that is why ANET has now reversed decision and are looking at other game modes. Once they pick the right one, if PvP becomes more popular, you will see more development around PvP.

Unspent rank should be account bound. Thus accumulated rank can be spent one time on any character. Once spent it is soulbound unless Anet resets the WvW rank.
I don’t think that if character A earns 10 points, for example, that he should be able to spend 10 points on A and B and C. He should be able to spend 10 points one time on whichever character he chooses. He should be able to break up the 10 points across characters thus give A three points, B four points and C 3 points.

My guess is that no one really cares about the final results for gold except for BG and JQ. Personally, I am just looking forward to the league being over. Let T1 fight by themselves and we can finally see the good T2-T3 matchups between TC, Mag, SoS, FA, SBI, and yaks.
1) You get the win bonus no matter what if you’re moved.
2) Why would you move the possibly worst player to the other team in the situation where everyone has been in the game the same time? That just means more players will rage.
Worst player is not equal to the person with the fewest points. It just means they joined last.
You are playing a game with friends and then all of a sudden you get sent to the other team because of auto balancing. You look at the scoreboard and someone with zero points is on the winning team causing this auto balance. It’s time to fix it. Instead of random, just use these two logic points.
1. Person who has been on the team the shortest amount of time moves to the other team
2. If everyone has been playing the same amount of time (or if there is no way to determine #1), the lowest score moves to the other team.
Problem solved
The problem is that very few people use this skill. Personally, I’d like to see a the nature of it change. People take the skill to help others. So, I suggest keeping the active heal the exact same as it is today, and adding a passive buff. The passive buff would be an aoe heal every second at an amount of 50 + (.1 x heal power).
So basically people have to choose between the passive or using the active burst heal. Might be a way to get people to actually use it.

It is good to see all the new people that the leagues have brought to WvW. This thread reminds me of a year ago. Newer players in general have trouble with stealth and that is understandable. What you will learn as you play more.
1. Stealth is used for roaming. Chain stealthing is the issue and that is what is getting nerfed in december.
2. Stealth, other than a mesmer veil, is not very valuable for zerg fighting.
We need more things to use them on or to atleast be able to sell them. Myself and tons and tons of other people have gotten to the point we just destroy them. They take up inventory space.
Without giving any specifics, I’d highly recommend you change that strategy. There are things coming soon that will give you lots to spend it on.
In the meantime, where the hell are we meant to store it all? Mind passing a memo onto the loot/storage/currency guys?

Remove downed state it only promotes zerging. If you die get rezed or respawn.
Huh? That makes no sense. Down state or no down state would have zero impact on zerging. People would still zerg… the fights would just be faster and less strategic.

I was thinking about this at one point, so I checked out how much perplexity runes cost, hoping it’d be at least five gold each. It was a bit over one. That made me sad. When perplexity runes are nerfed and everyone wants to switch, no one is going to care about the lost gold.
Perplexity is easy to fight against. A lot of people don’t know how to handle confusion unfortunately.
I believe Devon has already said that both servers will get the 3rd place rewards

I’ve seen this issue both ways. Personally, I think it is fine as is. Rank 115 isn’t that hard to obtain.

Yeah old matchmaking was better. The way the rewards work they only reward best coverage server that never can be beaten no matter how much YOU play or how good. You can’t do much… unless a ton of people with different time zones transfer to your server.
No. The old matchmaking was boring. The problem with this matchmaking is that the RNG is too large. If they cut that in half or so, we would get much better matchups.
After the league ends, I want to see FA, Mag, SBI, SoS, yak and tc all fighting a lot. That will be fun. I’d hate to imagine some of those matchups not taking place

I like the new system. It’s definitely an improvement. I’d definitely like to see people with 13-20 total games either drop rank or play more games quickly.

Somewhat agree with point 2. I like the idea of separating PvE server from WvW server. At the beginning of the season, individuals should be able to sign up for whatever server they want. Each server should have a fixed cap of people initially and then only increased when all servers are maxed out.

Yes, but a total waste of supply to place that in the ruins. The TC in the photo is a recruit and probably doesn’t know any better. That’s especially true if you look at the scoreboard. TC is probably starved for supply at that time and shouldn’t be wasting it.
The stealth traps are much more valuable in order to combat a veil during a zerg fight.

Haha, there’s probably no chance of that happening. Most TCers aren’t willing to consider leaving TC. It’s a very stable server. Probably the most stable WvW-wise in the game (save for maybe JQ). They took a few hits with a few guilds leaving recently, but they’re still tons stronger than they were at the beginning of the year. Slow and steady progression upwards. :-P /salute
Besides, we can’t have fun fights with CERN if they’re on the same server. :-P
For a similar reason, I was surprised to see EP and Agg end up on the same server. I miss watching their GvG battles.
Class strengths
Zerg: ele, necro, warrior, guardian
Solo roam: thief, warrior, mesmer, engi
Small team: anything (team comp)
This ^^ with the one change that mesmer is critical to a zerg as well. So basically if you want to roam and zerg, the ideal class is either mesmer or warrior. Eles aren’t bad as a third choice.

I think everyone would have been having more fun watching SoS, Mag, FA, SBI, DB, and yak fight it out. TC is probably a bit stronger than any of those, but much less so than in the past.

This doesn’t impact WvW or the scoring, so it is fine with me. In fact, it is a good change since they will allow direct access to that JP without needing to go through EB. Anything to help reduce the queue is a good change.
If two people are fighting 1v1, I just watch even if it is people from other servers.
If it is someone from my server and they are downed, then I will get involved at that point if the other person tries to stomp. 1v1 types tend not to stomp at the end though.
@OP. This game does not require any real world money. Gems that are converted to gold can increase the pace by which people buy items, but everything can be obtained by farming as well.

The problem with the leagues is that ANET separated the servers incorrectly. The forums users tried to tell them that 1-6 was a bad idea. 1-3 should have always been separate. I guess ANET needed their data point and now they have it. Lesson learned… listen to the forums more.
Why ANET would separate Mag, SBI, FA, and SoS makes zero sense. Those are 4 of the most evenly matched servers. With TC losing guilds, they probably fit into that group as well.

I’d rather see titles for solo q. I definitely agree with the OP about a minimum number of games. I’d also like to see a minimum number of games over the past two weeks or so as well. Leaderboard decay is too slow.

Definitely do not reduce the cap. A lot of us asked ANET to set the league as 1-3, and then 4-9 or 4-12. Mag, SOS, SBI, and FA would have been way more interesting to see fight. Unfortunately, ANET thought they knew best and were wrong.
