You calculate the group’s DPS by a known quantity (i.e. 1 Evolved Destroyer) of damage over a known quantity of time (i.e. 1 shield drop). It doesn’t matter what the quantity of time is, but longer is better for sustainability’s sake. As long as you’re consistent between comparisons it doesn’t matter.

There is no encounter in PvE that can be done faster with rangers and engineers in place of warriors. If anyone wants to prove that wrong I’ll salvage my Fused or Fractal Greatsword, your choice.

Hardest part of that is finding three Engineers or Rangers

I have engy and ranger at 80 and would volunteer as well, but I would need instruction on how to use ranger to maximize dps and engy, well…not even in berserker gear so probably not.

I have an 80 ranger, full zerker with 2x ascended zerker rings, 1x ascended back and exo zerker earrings/ammy. I’m happy to volunteer but I don’t think this guy wants a demonstration.

I don’t think he will deliver on that, and so..sadly for him, his build will be disregarded as it has been in the past. I feel for him, I wish ranger and engi and all that jazz were useful too, but at this point in time, they simply aren’t.

I don’t mind staff as long as it’s not sat on and used the entire run. It’s good for speedclears, buffing up the might to 12 stacks, then justice virtue to hit the 15 before entering into a fight, then switching off it. A mesmer using sig of inspiration along side this will be sure to double it. I prefer the hammer’s circle of warding to line of warding, mostly because it means I’m on a useful in combat weapon and not stuck using weak staff attacks before I can switch out again. When just about to enter combat though, I am happy to start off with line from, staff then swap to hammer after to extend that cc with circle.

I dislike scepter more, and would only recommend using in a select few fights very periodically. People who literally use this as this main weapon should be a little ashamed and it really irritates me when I see it. Couple it with them not using their virtues and I say a kick is very much valid. If their wep setup is staff/sceptre/focus ( or shield), that’s when they really are wasting your time.

I’ve never actually tried this since I am usually playing guardian or engie during Lupicus fights, but does Feedback stack on the AOE spray? I know the bubble reflects the damage but not necessarily the projectile, so it could potentially pass through multiple bubbles and trigger multiple reflects if so.

If that was the case you could probably go ranger/warrior/eng/2mesmers and just stack Feedback on the first AOE spray then just burst him down like normal. Shouldn’t be a problem with a ranger/engie combo.

That sounds impressive. I bet they would have done it even faster if they had at least one warrior to stack the banner buffs on too.

Regardless, even if it supports my contention, Lupicus is a pretty bad point of comparison for DPS tests because he is just burst and reflect, so it favors just stacking mesmers and bursty classes like engineers and rangers, and disfavors classes with more “steady” DPS. Hell, most of the “DPS” in Lupicus fights comes from Lupicus killing himself with reflected projectiles.

So you barely even read before you reply. I wonder how many factors you choose to ignore and and omit in your excel spreadsheets.

Clippy is a Guardian. He is there to carry people in Excel like in Guild Wars 2 so it should be fine.

I feel like the loot system in this game is bizarre. I have tons of Karma but no idea where to spend it and what to spend it on. The places I can are only available during events like Orr which makes no sense to me because nobody is ever there when I’m playing to complete them. So I sit with rare pieces and can never get exotics.

You must be a very special snowflake then (just like every other pro in this forum) because EVERY SINGLE zerker i run with (granted a pug 99% of the time) is face planted more often than not.

So much hate for zerkers. Not their fault if you or your party members can’t use it effectively. I run it in all dungeons no problem.. and there’s no excuse on guardian, you have so many defensive skills. The real issue is the player, almost all of the guards I’ve pugged still haven’t worked out how to use their virtues. -_-

What happens is, you come out with a video supporting your claims. If it outdoes the current view people accept it and we all shift to that. If it doesn’t, you are asked to provide proof or shift your own view. Unfortunately what usually happens is the person making the outrageous claims makes a video where he omits things out, makes excuses as to why he cannot meet the expectations of others or just doesn’t make a video and continues to assume the ’I’m right, you’re wrong lalalalala can’t hear you’ attitude.

Empowered allies does not stack. Warrior provides support to the group through DPS while still able to bring group might, vuln and group fury, better than any other class. It is very simple, high dps, group might, group fury, and vuln.

I’m in the market for a dungeon guild, whilst I don’t mind my guild’s community they’re just not active enough and I’m still pugging 100% of the time (makes me a little rough around the edges.) So I was considering joining ROME but after this thread he just seems to have the same arrogant/dismissive attitude as almost everyone I’ve seen post from DnT/LoD, that and despite Ather’s reassurances they still frighten the bajeezers out of me as far as elitism goes. Point being! You and Dub seem like pretty cool guys, DS recruiting?

I was never interested in the whole elitism thing, but I was bored and LoD offered me an invite, turned out they’re really nice and not really jerks about anything. Forums are a melting pot for stupidity, and I don’t blame anyone from any guild for flinging turds around because it’s frustrating reading the same stupid crap day in and day out. I’m just here for entertainment value these days.

Just goes to show you, that even the biggest of deals people make, can be easily averted with simple strategies. People putting too much effort into their bolstering of difficulty, should put it towards the actual fight.

I think for most people… the problem is that they’re too dead set on being able to just burn a boss down. Too many people are unwilling to put effort in to fights, and those same people are the ones that say GW2 is too easy. When they run in to something they can’t just faceroll, it’s “broken” or “too hard”.

This boss is facerollable though. Just have your team pack dps, guardian pop reflects and everyone melee down, takes around a minute to kill, just did it earlier with 3 wars, one LH ele and a guardian. It was a total dps race to kill it before the reflects expired, that was about it lol.

Cliffside 1st boss for safe
Mossman (arguably)
Dredge boss

There are about 3 fights in the game where guardian should use scepter. Staff is acceptable for running trash, pulls, Empower and a few instances where Line of Warding is useful, never dpsing. The other 95% of the time, guardians should be meleeing.

This about sums it up.

I’m getting tired of people rationalizing bad behavior. Like telling people who are problematic enough to be kicked, that the solution is to open the instance and screw the rest of the team over into putting up with them. And acting like the only reason anyone gets kicked is because the other 2-4 people in the team are just big bad meanies.

Well that’s what I don’t get, I mean they obviously understand things about the PvE meta, and will talk about gearing a team towards higher DPS output, but then they come up with ridiculous kitten like Engineer>Guardian>Ranger….

Spreadsheets are fun and all and useful in discussions but when your final conclusion is something so ridiculous as that it’s clear you’re either just joking, trolling, or stupid.
