If you guys are supposed to be “best of the best”
The level of exaggeration is strong in this one. I never said or ever implied anything close to that. Did you mistake me for Brazil ?
Fair enough. Good that got cleared up. So DnT is just supposed to be best of the best.
My apologies for picking a wrong person.
This is a possibility but that possibility has to be answered with evidence.
When Kitsune presented the ele as having potential in speedruns he, gasp, backed up the claim. Or is that too much to ask? People are usually willing to listen once they’ve been proven wrong.Well, idea was that if you guys were supposed to be on top of the game you would be the one finding all the best builds. But since that got cleared this doesn’t have any point.
Since we are in the business of making exaggerated and rather silly assumptions about the scumbag elitist Nikaido.3457, I have to say… He is actually a very down to earth guy, quite modest, also has a very sexy frenchy accent mrrooowww
I’m basing it on this line “Do you really think you can beat continuous uninterrupted rifle dps with that ? Common sense much ?”
If that is modest to you, well, I guess we have different opinions then.
I don’t follow everyone closely to know exactly who said what and when (I don’t really care that much) so Nikaido might be wrong target this. But you can insert your name there instead of his if that feels more appropriate.Perhaps topics like this are fun to some of you but it’s quite good way to scare any new guy with different/wrong opinion.
Whoah now, don’t be taking a swipe at me >:( I’m just an innocent little girl
-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-
Also why do you think that population affects rng? Not being rude in anyway i am genuinely interested. I like seeing people challenge things and try to find out information for themselves.
I’m happy to oblige! My suspicion came from my experiences of playing Aion for about 2 years. I’ll try to explain. In Aion, they had a system called “manastones” which could be inserted in armor to add stats to the armor. For example, the better armor pieces had about 5 to 6 manastone slots, in which you could place a “magic resist +14” manastone, or a “magic boost + 25” manastone. Heavily stacking magic resist in all six armor pieces would result in near-immunity against the most dangerous attacks in the game, so it was an important feature. Now, slotting each manastone could fail or succeed. If you failed the first manastone, it would disappear, gone. If you succeeded on the first manastone, but failed on the second manastone, all manastones would disappear, the first and the second. Poof, gone. And manastones were expensive. Imagine the rage that some people experienced when succeeding all but the last manastone, and destroying all manastones inserted. It was really painful, people sometimes needed hundreds of them.
Now, I say “people” needed hundreds of them. I, and other people in my guild who followed my advice, needed about 40 of them, at most, to succesfully slot armor with manastones. I had found out the hard way that if I slotted them in a remote place, and in a zone where there were barely other players around, the success rate was much, much higher. Having slotted manastones in this manner consistently for over a year, and knowing that others who did the same experienced the same results, I know that this was a serious factor in Aion. By the way, this is but one example, many RNG elements in Aion were affected by this principle. This is why I tried using the same tactic in this game.
I played aion…that story is complete Bull..Its the same as Making a dance with a hoolahoop before opening a coffin will give you better results…Its in your head.
Although Aion and GW2 has nothing in common, I mean being different developers in all, the theory may still be valid.
In a Claw of Jormag event, the loot table in the chest is highly affected by the number of players presently participating in the event. If you are in Lion’s Arch for example, or other zone where the coffer can drop, in theory, you are participating in the event.
My hypothesis is, if you open the coffer in your Home instance, Personal Story instance, or Hall of Manument instance, you are techinally not participating in the event thus your loot table is not influenced by other players in the area — since you’re the only player in your instance.
This is just a theory and worth a shot to test.
I’m currently stacking up coffers from drop (65 so far) that I stated last night while doing the dungeon. Once I get 300, should be enough, I’ll open 100 in Home, 100 in PS, and 100 in HoM and log the result.
If RNG is RNG, then the number of coffer I opened will not matter at all. But for the sake of science, I’ll try and make that 3k before the event is over — I’ll buy them off the TP if I have to.
One thing in relation to this: I noticed in Aion as well as in GW2 that, population wise, instances are linked to the zone from which you enter the instance. So fractals would be linked to LA (which is why I used to crash in every instance related to LA whereas I had no such problem anywhere else in the game). So I would advise against entering an instance unless it is linked to an empty zone, and even then I would advise opening them in the empty zone instead. Yes, I did seriously extensive testing into this in Aion, I’m a bit of a nerd that way (but a rich nerd because manastones was a serious problem for most players in the game). I would also advise opening 1k boxes at once; I’ll provide half of them if you need (too much gold, already have everything I could ever need anyway).
I agree with this, having played aion myself there was a correlation between how empty the zone was and your slotting success.

-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-
Here is a quote from Durzlla.6295 on the ranger forums, I thought this one was a real gem and explains everything:
Um, because i don’t give a kitten about what the meta is and i can give 2 kittens about what is “optimal” in PvE so long as i can get what i want done? I have had absolutely ZERO issue getting into groups with my Support ranger long before it was buffed, and my pet actually got a HUGE buff in PvE and can hit like an absolute freight train as i’m supporting the group a lot better than a warrior can, and i’m providing AoE prot, condi removal etc, things a warrior would have to sacrifice dps to do.
Idk about you, but all the DPS mashing idiots in my group are pretty happy they can drop their defensive stuff and pick up more offense when i’m there.
Enjoy! I especially like the part about how he doesn’t care that his class is bad, he’s still taking it anyway Support ranger op! all those people doing silly things like ‘dps’ ( haha omg dps, that’s so dumb, why the hell would we need dps?) are idiots!

He wasn’t even under the effect of the spirits for a good part of the video. And that’s the video he made to make his point about rangers being so guwd.
That was the part I thought was the best. You see, when people aren’t under effect of those spirits, the ranger isn’t worrying about them and calculating the dps increase in his head, and so he is freed up to do more damage with his axe skills. It all works out, God you elistist scumbags will say anything to talk down rangers these days.
-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-
good god that axe dps…
Amazing, right? To think I get stick from people for telling them rangers suck when it’s just the reality.
And then when I tell them to tell me my guardian is a boring faceroll class, they don’t feel like insulting my class for some reason even though it’s true.
Rangers are op, look at how amazing those spirits were in buffing group dps in that video. Idk what you guys are smoking!

Whilst I dislike cof, and think his post is pretty funny.. There’s one thing I can relate to with this guy. Once you’ve gone through hundreds, sometimes thousands of pugs, and time after time you see the same stupid kitten, bad builds, poor gear sets, doing stupid crap in the dungeon and wasting your time… You start to get really kitten ed off.
This is why you don’t PUG.
Indeed if you’re doing PUGs always preapere for the worst scenario why ? 2 reasons.
1. If the pug goes really bad you’ll just say “k, it’s a pug I knew this could happen”
2. If it goes good (or very good) you’ll just be happy.
I’m well and truly prepared by now T_T

WOW I NEVER HEARD OF THIS HAPPENING BEFORE.
(srs tho a net should do something -.- )
-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-
Oh wow this thread got good. So we have a couple of wannabe elitist CoF scrubs telling some of the best PvE’ers in the game that they are wrong about rune choices… backed up by horrible math and a stunning display of failing to understand game mechanics.
I kittening lol’d.
-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-
‘Other 95% of the player base will find better ways to spend their time and money.’
wow, I wish I could get such quick and accurate statistics of what players will be spending time and money on.

PVP skill splits. There’s a Reason GW1 had them (it was the dungeons)

^^^^^^^^^^^
Sorry but Anet prefers to be the special snowflake game, they don’t need silly things like common sense pffft.
-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-
As much as I would like that to be true, knowing ANet and their horrible standard for reward vs time input… probably not so.
-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-
A WHOLE 150 MB!! THAT’S UNHEARD OF WTF
-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-
They wont lose casuals over the end of this dungeon lol. It’s perfectly doable for them too. They are more likely to lose casuals over lack of skin rewards and permanent content alongwith other issues they haven’t addressed for months.
-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-
1. I always think its funny when people post “you guys complain about everything” when it’s not even the same people complaining about all the various things that people complain about.
2. It does seem sort of dumb to force people to buy a whole set when i’m sure there are plenty of people who would have shelled out money for a piece or 2 but decided on buying nothing instead. I probably would have picked up a set of gloves or shoulders if i could have bought them separately but at 800 gems, i’ll just have to pass.
This. Ya’all complaining about complainers, like people aren’t allowed to complain, like every time someone complains god kills a kitten or the sky comes crashing down. It’s ok, it’s all going to be ok I promise.
-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-
I see this update as a blessing, with each nerf to ranger, more and more people will realize they have deluded themselves about the class in dungeons and finally reroll.
-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-
Thank you Anet for this dungeon.
Please…
Do NOT nerf it!
Never!+1
Every new dungeon in Living Story gets better and better.
And every new dungeon in Living Story shares the same problem. ITS NOT PERMANENT.
These living story events are like periods man, they come once a month and they’re painful.
-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-
This is great and all, but the rewards mean that I’ll just go back to COE/other dungeons, and others will go back to cof.
-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-
You laugh now Bright, but this build will annihilate everything you hold dear, it will kittenfury all over your sorry excuse for guardian builds.
-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-
Magic find op.

-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-
I don’t hate these ppl, I am indifferent. Let them stay there Means they aren’t bothering me in the other dungeons. They will be in for a rude shock when that dungeon gets the nerf lol. I do however, enjoy the angry responses anyone who doesn’t like cof farm gets for voicing their opinion.

Yeah, you go ahead and smash your face against your keyboard for money and feel good about it.
In the meantime, I’ll be in Arah, being broke.
Why do people hate so much on poeple farming cof? I agree there are quite some idiots you can meet there, but there are nice people farming too. If you want to farm gold the hard way, fine, no one forces you to do cof if you don’t like it.
^ This. Inflation caused is screwing the rest of us over.
The value of gold has stayed pretty much the same for months, unless you’re harkening back to a time when everyone farmed Orr and few did dungeons
Further, it’s your choice to do gold-inefficient runs, don’t hate anyone else for your decisions, except for maybe anet for not implementing better rewards for other dungeons
Assuming I hate people >_>

Challenge: Shaman FOTM 48. No guardians.
Who’s up for it?
Make it a challenge..
Shamen FOTM 48. All Necros
Or all Rangers, or some sickly mix of both.
-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-
A 7 minute casual AC run rewards you with just a bit more money. Oh this gw2 reward system.
yeah but there is no monocle drop
I foresee a lot of stinking MF leechers going in.
I hate those they contribute nothing and get all the goodies kitten off MF leechers !
My son it is time. It is time to gearcheck.
-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-
This just happened. Lol.
I guess you had to be there to find it funny.
Forgot to mention he joined on a guardian, then switched to ranger for ‘more dps’ -.-
What the hell were you guys doing that you needed a PUG?
Wasn’t that around prime guild time? Shouldn’t be hard to fill a group.
Oh bf wanted to go do a run with his friend and I didn’t wanna drag people along if it was gonna suck XD. Turned out good in the end tho haha.
For the record, guild is teeming with people, I’ve never had trouble getting anyone for groups

There’s rumors that they are doing a big reward overhaul somewhere this summer and Colin has said there is a team working on making extra Fractals.
I’m pretty jaded with how they’ve treated their dungeon community for a while now, but I’ve gotten a little bit of faith.
I might be sorely disappointed though, we’ll see.
They may just treat us like the ranger community.
‘Yeh guys! big patch comming! loads of stuff for you!!!’
-patch hits-
‘Underwater weapon skill buffs. Enjoy!’

So after 4200 boxes I finally get a ticket (queue song “I’ve got a golden ticket”) and I was thrilled until I realized that I need one more for a matching pair of daggers.
baaaahhhhhhhhhh now that’s gotta hurt
I just got mine today too, I was at around 4100, thought I was bad XD
Was weird.. I did coe, got 2 charged lodestones from chests in there then all of a sudden openned the 4 chests in my inventory and one popped up. Seems I had some sort of good RNG wave.
-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-
All I know is GW2 has until that other NCSoft MMO releases this year to get their stuff together. After that I’m out! Nexus here I come!
I get this feeling ncsoft is the problem, funneling a good portion of GW2 gemstore sales off to their other games and not GW2. This may be why dungeon updates are so few and far between as they may lack resources. I’ll probably hike off to that new FFARR game once I drop my OCD here, the beta was surprisingly good, especially after their last failure.
-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-

They should add that link in the game announcements/login screen area because we’ll be waiting till hell freezes over for an ingame lfg and so many noobs dunno where to go -.-

Meh I’m probably gonna end up giving them another full year and grumble about it all the way. Gotta hand it to them no other game really catches me the way GW2 does, even if it lacks content for the dungeoneer atm
And the gambler returns to Vegas.

We’ll be continuing to permanently update our dungeons and rewards for dungeons this year and beyond, these updates will be part of living world releases in the future as well as we expand the scope of living world releases to include more permanent updates to the game.
So.. basically more Canach’s style living story themed dungeons, some AC style ‘fixes’.. and some living story themed additions to fractals along with better fractals rewards.

Why so much living story? We want dungeons and bug fixes..
We’re tired of living story Colin
-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-
You can stack on the spider queen anywhere, what determines the success of the stack is whether or not people move, if people move queen does psn attack, wiping the party. If people don’t move she will just spew web and melee.
However if the groups dps is good she should only live for about 30 seconds, if that.On that path 2 run we did of which we posted the end boss fight, she died in 12 seconds.
^^^^
@OP
All you are missing is good dps.
-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-
Meh. Should I remind you of the errr…. Canach “dungeon”?
Gonna be another one of dem 5 mins dungeons.
-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-
What is this I don’t even
-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-
Why u do dis to me T_T
srs question, do you still find the LH/FGS ele as useful in lower level dungeons with how harshly the game downscales crit damage? though I suppose warriors have the same problem so eh.
Even in AC i find them useful in my groups, for example the sider queen with the FGS dies in under 15sec and the champ/silver skelks that are in the corridor die in under 10sec with it. so it still has its uses IMO
Yeh basically functions same as downscaled war, wasn’t paying that much attention but kitten dies fast as usual.. FGS on spider queen is still amazing plus you have the added bonus of access to ice bow for burrows and etc.
