Yep I generally do assume that now. Mostly because I’m going for a mix of zerk+ assassin myself. They sort of go hand in hand.

Somehow I think Romo is just as opposed to this as well however, because these remain purely offensive stats.

I’m not opposed to any stats. I don’t even know how it became that I’m anti-zerker. There are some great plays by people using pure zerker, assassin or mix of both. Hell, I use it on 3 of my classes. I’m just against the idea of forcing it upon new players that can barely stand on their feet as it is.
In none of my posts did I say that Zerker is bad, but let’s face the facts here. Some people just suck at being zerkers and having them equipped fully in said stats will very quickly turn into the scenario that I’ve been a part of over and over again. And that new inexperience player is laying dead and bringing a burden to the entire party.
I prefer people with zerker stats, but only if they know how to use it, otherwise use something that can at least keep you alive for a while.
It’s like giving a gun to a kid. It’s better off in hands of an experienced person.

Firstly, nowhere did I state that we should force anyone (including new players) to wear zerker gear and not ‘let them learn at thier own pace’.

And thirdly, I am opposed to PVT gear if that was not clear enough. I recommend knights gear to people starting off. Not for the sake of efficiency, because it’s not efficient. For the sake of easing into the real efficient gear set that is zerker.

You took the statement that zerker was best and framed it in your own light so as to argue against it. That is why I start to wonder if you are just simply opposed to it. Perhaps you just misinterpreted what was said.

Zerker gear is the best set.

If the player is bad then it doesn’t matter what set they are in, they’ll remain subpar either way. This is not the fault of the gear.

It is, for you. It’s no good to a player that just started playing and can barely stay alive. You played long enough that you can do what we see as natural and simple dodge at the right time. If the player is inexperienced, they need survivability over pure power. They’ll get to berserker “status” as they progress.

I actually started with berserker gear. I was then told by poor players to run PVT gear, needless to say things were more difficult when I wore this set as there was less dps in parties and thus fights took longer leaving a larger margin for error. People don’t ‘progress’ in pvt gear, they grow stagnant and garner a reliance.

However even even we entertained your notion it wouldn’t change the fact that the gear set is the best, most efficient set.

This recent post in the Dungeon forum sums up ANet’s stance on selling dungeon paths perfectly.

“Thanks for pointing out that we seemed to have had a bit of miscommunication about offering “runs” as a service in the game. I can tell you that runs are not disallowed if they do not in some other way form a breach of the User Agreement or Rules of Conduct. We consider such an offer a form of a “gentleman’s agreement” where two parties agree to a specific service for an agreed sum in in-game currency (or in-game items, as the parties decide).

Naturally, if the run itself involves the use of an exploit, that service is strictly and fully disallowed. (And of course we want to hear about any exploiters.) Runs for real-world money or goods are, likewise, strictly prohibited. And if the service ends in a disputed situation — for instance, someone offers a run and then leaves the party, or offers to pay and then declines to do so — then we may take action against a scammer, if an agent is able to confirm what took place. But because the service is a gentleman’s agreement, we do not get in the middle of repayments, re-dos of the run, etc.

I’m guessing that as a newer player, they are more likely to be in poorer groups too.

For most dungeons, probably just start up with Obal’s hammer build with knights armor then ease into zerk through accessories or what have you. I find that build pretty faceroll and still decent for the team till the player gets out of training wheels stage. Off set can be staff or something so they have something to fall back on for range till they know what’s going on.

Well funnily enough I do have a list of good pugs, I was just explaining the method in general. I also play rather sporadically, sometimes at 4am, other times midday. Not everyone is always available. I keep a list of people with labels on them in my friends tab. Usually something like ‘Warrior Dungeon’ or ‘Mesmer Dungeon’ then I just type in the nickname and if I need for eg. a mesmer my whole list comes up. I like to keep adding more good pugs to my collection, I even add a few of the ones that weren’t as good because they show promise and are willing to learn more tactic wise.

Most times I just run with my guild tbh. I pug maybe once a week.

Before she does her pull she will use her pistol unload, then there’s a little time interval but you’ll know it’s coming.

Once you get better at dodging you don’t need an awful AH build or longer boon duration.

All the same though, nice build from a year ago.

This is how I do it. My advertisement is usually along the lines of:

Zerk Gear + melee only- Scholar preferred -Gear checking- Touring multi dungeons.

I usually have one other person who is a friend in my party and the kicking fest begins. Usually the first 6 or so joins are complete illiterates. We kick those, takes about 3 or so minutes, as we fill fast. They ping, I accept anything that is full zerker base including accessories and full melee weapons ( acceptable ones, eg. axe/mace GS for warrior. Sword/warhorn for ranger.) with either ruby orbs or scholar. I take care when recruiting warriors to make sure they not only ping their GS, but their axe and mace.. Too many times I have seen GS campers.

I only take guardians/necromancers/rangers under exceptional circumstances. The community has proven it self to be completely incapable of running correct builds on these classes the majority of the time. While there is a stigma around bowbear rangers, more often than not the worst players that join are the guardians in their ‘tank/heal gear’ and their AH builds. To avoid this I just run on my own guardian.

I get death threats, I get called all kinds of names, I get whispers and etc from people who couldn’t read the description and were booted. I find this hilarious. Nothing satisfies me more than knowing I kitten e’d off the shoutheal warrior who could have potentially leeched from my party.

I never kick someone once the dungeon has started unless they are particularly awful. It’s always before, I do a very thorough job of weeding out the time wasters so as to prevent such a circumstance from occurring as I dislike wasting people’s time and my own.

So far this has negated many awful runs that I could have had. When I see some of the horrible sets people ping and their nasty attitudes when they are told to read the party description before joining I know I’ve dodged many a monotonous bullet.

We would have died if we wore that scummy zerker gear.

I gear check people regardless. I have them ping or gtfo.

Now my issue is not with nerfing a boring build, it’s with taking away one of the only viable builds that class has. The class will not be competitive with other classes unless it provides something else. Personally I would like to see power ranger become more popular.
