If you want the optimal setup, berserker gear in all slots is the way to go. The better you are, the more redundant defensive stats are; this is just how the game is designed. If, however you want some kind of a balance, then you can mix and match some gear pieces which have Power on them to find the medium that you like.

As for traits, if you like GS and sword+focus, I would recommend either:

10/30/0/5/25 or 10/30/0/10/20

If you’re a fan of hammer, and maybe mace (mace isn’t so great, but you can use it):

15/15/0/20/20

These traits combined with berserker/power gear will allow you to maintain high damage output, as well as have a bit of extra team utility via traits (condi removal, cooldown reductions on spirit weapons, shout cooldown etc).

I would highly recommend that you seriously consider running full berserker gear and getting used to it; but I get called an elitist whenever I try to make that suggestion, so play how you want I guess.

Feel free to message me ingame or on the forums if you’d like to talk about build(s) and gear; I’ll give you information which is related to getting the most out of your class in dungeons and fractals. I won’t continue replying here, because people get really upset when it comes to the topic of min/max’ing.

Now since its profitable to only run one path daily once, however if it is say a daily speed run for all paths of a dungeon, it makes perfect sense to occasionally see people checking for zerk gear. Though I would say again the number of elitist posts has drastically reduced..

That being said I am strongly against cleric gear, PVT on the other hand is perfectly acceptable, specially in high lvl fotms .

Tl;dr: Zerker gear can be excellent unfortunately most ppl using it are not.

My PVT stats self buffed only,:
(wvw reset day so my hp is 1 000 lower than normal)

stats don’t mean much. proper DPS builds also get many damage modifiers which aren’t reflected in hero panel but make a big difference in actual fights.

The people who whine are the ones who join a speedrun group because they want their group to go very fast. They don’t want zerk gear though and just wanna play the way they want. They mainly want to get carried by the speedrun group, but don’t want to contribute.

These people can post their own party “AC party, non-zerk builds welcome” And do it with like minded people. But then it takes longer and they get upset.

Then they get kicked from a speedrun group and come to the dungeon forums to call us elitist.

The simple fact of this entire matter is that you do more for your party without AH.

AH was the training wheels for guardians starting out when the game first came out, when people were clueless about boss mechanics, dodging and how to time CC’s, blinds and reflects. However, now that people have an understanding of what to do in dungeons, AH is no longer required, and better much more efficient builds can be run to cut down on run times and result in smoother, less kitten hit the fan type clears.

As if it was only GW2 – I still have contact to some people who continued the guide I originally wrote in WoW BC and they have exactly the same issue. So it’s a safe bet that this is a problem of the whole MMO landscape (and beyond, probably).

idk man, it’s pretty rife here. I’d say that it’s worse in GW2 than other mmo’s I’ve played. The carebear kitten is really sort of encouraged and nurtured in this game and it shows everytime I join a pug dungeon team and it has a bearbow ranger and a clerics guard who doesn’t use virtues and all that kinda deal.

• Celestial Armour, Weapons and Accessories with Ruby Rings/amulet for WvW roaming with mace/focus and greatsword

People take it personally when the builds they love and cherish don’t amount to much in the eyes of forum goers.

I am referring to where the resources are allocated. Last I heard there was like 4 teams ( or 70? people?) for living story content.

It was announced at PAX that the living story team is approximately 70 people. Albeit not all of them are developers. There is separate teams also mentioned that handle specific parts of the game.( Such as merchandise etc) The only mention of spvp I’ve heard is that there is 2 + people associated that aren’t developers.

PvE/Living story=70+ separate unts
PvP= 2. + community manager/lead designer etc

In a recorded pre release interview it was stated PvE and PvP were both developed at the same time and in parallel with each other. If we look at the PvE world and the PvP world..well, yeah…..the difference is huge. For a long time it was stated that gw2 would be ready when it is ready, yet the quiet statement now is that upon release there were aspects that were left unfinished, or unpolished with those objectives to be reviewed once the game had launched.

Pvp being a non money making aspect means that it will never really take number one priority. I can understand this, even if history shows that Pvper’s tend to the players that stick round in a game longer than your casual gamer which gw2 is aimed at. It is one of those, “Go-figure” moments.

Here is another tidbit.

‘For PvP, while there’s nothing super-exciting on the horizon, the crew was happy with the additions made over the past year, including custom arenas and the big tournament that is taking place here at PAX. Ranging Lupi in P1 is the safe pug tactic. There’s really no strategic reason to melee him except to show off how pro you are, and to kill him a bit faster. Given that most pugs already have enough trouble trying to dodge his grub summon, I wouldn’t trust them to try to dodge his kick at a distance where getting grubbed means Lupi eats it immediately. It also makes killing the final grub summon considerably easier when your group doesn’t have a ranger and/or the DPS to kill the grub before he eats it.

Or spam LB #4 on my bearbow, knock everything about of your blind fields, force you to chase them. Bring a masterwork AH clerics guardian, aggro everything and pull them to the group? I am going to make your CoF P1 a 2 hour run, just for the sake of proving how bad i can be when i choose to.
