I’ve reached my quota of bandwidth of the month or I’d be checking it out myself but I can’t say that I’m in the slightest bit surprised by this. They have a weird testing system here and we’ve told them at length for the better part of the first year they launched this title that it simply isn’t working. There’s a reason why the industry standard for testing is a PTR and this is it. This happened the entire time I was in the game (before I just couldn’t deal with it any longer and took a break). From your reports and others it seems they still haven’t learned yet. Even if they only invited a random 200 people it would be miles better than getting hyped about new content or an update to progression, logging in and not being able to do anything with it.

Has anyone here played Diablo2? I’m pretty sure that the answer is a big yes. I’m also sure that you guys also remember all the hype that was put into the release of Diablo 3. Try to remember the feeling you had when the game ended up being so dissapointing for the lack of content.

I’m starting to have the same feeling here with Gw2….

I’ve been reading every single Dev post and watching all the interviews about the new patch for the Living Story finale. I could feel all the hype that was being put there.

Guess what, the moment I enter the game, I see treamendous amount of people saying in the map chat that nothing works. Without believing it first, I go check for myself and saddly, the /map trolls were right.

Again that big hype followed by that big dissapointment…

Maybe to everyone here my post looks like a rant, but I simply don’t understand how that kind of thing is actually possible. Being told that there would be ’’awesome’’ content that is actually ‘’awesomely non-functional’’. Even people in my guild are starting to name their character Bugs War.

Sad…

Not long ago I saw that CDI thing for horizontal and vertical progression. This is something incredible. So many great ideas. I simply hope that this time I won’t be dissapointed. I’ve been on Gw1 since forever and Gw2 since the beta’s. I just don’t want this game that has ‘’Way to much potential’’ leave that feeling of dissapointment in me.

Arwen.

Map Completion - Metrics on Player Anger?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

tigirius.9014

It’s honestly one of their biggest mistakes. All one has to do is look at the history of mmo development to see that. For example, look at how the population of Aion dropped off when they discovered that not only did you have to go into a PVP area at level 30 but you had to in order to build up any points you needed for end game gear. To further the problem, they made it so that high level geared players could come along and squish the low level players. Putting PVE progress in a PVP area is always a bad idea, there’s a reason why those two don’t mix well and it’s simply due to the types of people playing and what they prefer to do with their time while playing.

What would GW2 be like with trinity?

I’m like you right now in the game I’m playing I have 4 healers 1 DPS and 1 tank.

Probably freaking awesome.. could you imagine the boss fights?
It’s tough for people to actually put some thought into that – because we’re so limited with the current system. It’s unfortunate because I’ve never played a game with such a fluid-feeling movement and combat system.

Many complain about the “LF HEALER! LF TANK!” Issues. Well this might be news to you, but some people actually like to play those roles. Me being one. Hell, we could even incorporate a trait system that allows every class to play every role, or CLOSE, similar to the WoW system in place right now (to my understanding.. I quit long ago)

I wish we did have trinity TBH

Some players behaviour ...

Honestly many of us warned them this would happen. It’s just like some classes are still not played entirely on some servers because they’ll be denied access to groups even story groups over and over again due to class imbalance in PVE.

Hopefully it’ll be one of the things that their CDI horizontal progression will address when the changes come down because we’ll have a bit bigger playerbase to deal with as casuals will have returned to the game once again.

What would GW2 be like with trinity?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: tigirius.9014

tigirius.9014

I’m not personally looking for the full on trinity but this title has been proven to not even have trinity lite, or even the Arenanet trinity (due to the issues of condition damage/ support/ CC being useless in most encounters)

What I’d like to see is an improvement of skills on those who’d like to take the path of a more focused healer in the horizontal progression proposal they put in the CDI post I’m hopeful that some of the classes will have just that, a greater healing – damage ratio so that it increased the healing we do with each skill when specced that way and lowers a tiny bit the damage output.

I think they could easily pull it off as other games have this trinity lite and still function without a requirement for the trinity in each encounter/dungeon.

I could totally see dungeons probably pick back up as people would run with their friends to do things more often with the renewed sense of balance.

If GW2 has a traditional Trinity system, what would the game be like?

Pure speculation discussion, so feel free to give your belief of what the game would be like with a traditional Tank/Healer/DPS trinity system.

(excuse the title of thread. limited character prevents title detail)

I do hope they’ve taken the view from Kaboose and run with it because it allowed bosses to still cast their anti-CC spells however it mitigated that CC immunity to a lower scale than before so that classes which have a higher number of skills with CCs as side benefits would actually be useful once more.

I’m waiting to see what their post CDI solutions will be for this and Condition damage issues.

Don't Make Me Run Dungeons for Runes plz

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: tigirius.9014

tigirius.9014

Runes of the noble are cheap in dungeon tokens. Find a group of friends or guildies that dont mind letting you leach a couple runs. Heck you might actually end up liking running it if you bothered.

Some people don’t like the PvE in this game and only care to play WvW.

To those kind of people, PvE is a chore. I understand them.

I am a PVEer myself but I thought it was strange the way you put that. Personally I like the PVE in this game with the exception of the dungeon focus. They’ve literally had one every single LS patch they’ve come out with and have had to find a way of preserving them in fractals.

So I would say that the TYPE of PVE content in this title isn’t very popular (not for me either) especially since it offers no options for means by which to gather the currencies needed for certain types of progression unlike other titles. There are older titles that have gone to great lengths to help their casual/RP players gather the currencies they need without ever stepping into a dungeon if they don’t wish to. I’m surprised that Anet hasn’t taken hold of this fact and made adjustments accordingly (altho I don’t have any idea what’s coming post CDI mind you, hopefully it will be in the direction this game needs).

Until they change the way progression occurs this will continue to be a problem actually. There are only certain places that are the new “grind” per say for the ascended gear so that’s where you’ll find most of the people. the latest CDI results promises new activities so the game will most likely dramatically change when this patch occurs.

Good luck getting this change to happen, Engineers have yet to recover from all three of the grenade nerfs, the global condi nerf from the early days, and the kit refinement destruction that took place months ago.

When these things take place they pretty much destroy all confidence in the balance team I agree.

PVP balance should never affect PVE imo.

This actually sounds more along the lines of what I was expecting to find when I purchased the game and what I’d find in a game that could actually be called casual (not what most of these people are calling casual just because it’s not so difficult that only 5 people can complete anything worthy of completing atm.)

I like this I would love for this to be expanded upon by adding the suggestions above concerning crafting jobs that make fun items. I’d even request adding an engineering job to crafting to make fun and useful items as a job in the game.

Hi All,

Here is the proposal I believe we are making, please discuss and let me know if anything should be added or removed. Note many of us have read the thread internally and thus there has already been valuable impact.

Our Horizontal Progression Proposal

The Reward and Associated Journey

Sociopolitical Diversification: Player housing (Customizable from rewards gained in the open world), Guild Halls (Customizable from mass play rewards) and Map Wide Meta events unlocked through Faction progression (Leading to both individual and group rewards such as titles and skins)

Role Diversification: ‘Grail Quest’ (Personal rights of passage) style adventures through the open world (testing the player in combat, discovery, and puzzle solving) which others can engage in once the activities are activated which could reward the Hero with New skills/traits, new weapons, access to inaccessible existing weapons, and infusions.

Hero Recognition (Reward) is a by product of the above two types of Horizontal Progression leading to Unique Skins, Titles, Rewards, followers and NPC reactions/opportunities based on the players individual feats in the world of Tyria regardless of how he/she chooses to play the game.

Global Rule Proposal governing the above:

- Where possible use the above design paradigm to reinforce and evolve the existing world.
- Players should be able to have multiple methods of achieving ‘Grail Quests’, rather than a section of the journey being based on Jumping Puzzles and that alone for example.
-A reworked (cleaner) version of Signet of Capture would work very well for Role Diversification.
- Sub-classes will be discussed again in a CDI once Arena finishes its current balance work in regard to roles.
- QOL features such as a wardrobe should support this global design.

Once we have discussed the proposal and the thread reaches conclusion we will sticky it and move onto CDI Process Evolution Phase 2.

Thank you all so much for your hard work and your passion toward making GW2 awesome. This has been a really good CDI and I want to thank you on behalf of Arena for caring so much about the world we love.

Your top 5 design mistakes in GW2?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: tigirius.9014

tigirius.9014

  1. Downed state imbalance offering a great downed state set of skills to only a few classes and leaving the rest highly vulnerable.
  2. The complete direction 180 only 2 months after launch throwing out all of the basic concept promises from countless prelaunch interviews. (specifically fractals, ascended, tiny empty LS updates that are completed in 1 day a month)
  3. Releasing the game while certain classes were still in Alpha status. (Engineer) when more time should have been spent fleshing those classes out and researching just how powerful certain types of attacks should be by calling in a weapons expert.
  4. Making any material for crafting completely RNG rather than something that is easily gathered from nodes from T6 mats to T7 mats.
  5. Using DR to control drop rates by completely cutting off drops entirely, the same system that caused multiple games over the history of all mmo’s to completely crash and burn due to consumer disgust.

don t know a kitten about economy.

i think that it s not a handful of complainers.
of the 15friends i bought gw2 with, i m the only one who logged in until the second half of 2013, and the only who’s here wasting his time with complaints. yes, it s a very limited experience.
but just because someone just ragequitted without whining here, doesn t mean that complainers are a little part of the whole gw2 owners

I wouldn’t make any claims regarding the economy either. I can only atest to my experience which includes multiple guilds dying out, all of my friends save 1 leaving the game forever just after the ascended fractal announcement. I was the only one to hold on for long long time before I finally got fed up myself.

Engineer needs some love

I’ll be honest, I skimmed the post but I think I got the point. And no… Just no, engi is one of the strongest classes pvp right now and they are just fine in pve. Sure the CoF war, guard, mes combo still reigns on high but realistic engi does very well in dungeons.

suppose i should ve specified more yeah in pvp as engi all it takes is to go bunker engi and faceroll with bombs

or counter bunkers with hgh

but outside of pvp engineer is extremely underwhelming just because a class is good in pvp does not mean it should suck in pve or wvw

That’s been my point all along. Not only did they place things in weird places (like where they put the bonuses from talents) but they also made a series of early nerfs to the class long before kit refinement was completely destroyed that this class has yet to recover from. I’ve been watching the patch notes, at NO time has any of these balance guys gone back to the early days before they separated the patch actions between PVE/PVP and corrected what they did back then which was to nerf condi damage across the board in PVE and lower the damage output of the kits on engineers, they said they upped it a bit but it’s still nowhere near where it should be to be on par with the damage output of warriors but we’re supposed to believe that it’s equal footing in combat according to the front page.

Guys this has been going on for over a year now it’s time for them to fixit it really is getting old. 5 years down the line people will still be talking about this and they still won’t have fixed the problems with this class.

HgH nade high dmg but low def
what can we run next time if they nerf engy???

The kit refinement as a whole got nerfed and hurt in many different ways. We lost damage with nades for example. Lost Box of Nails when swapping to the tool kit, harming a handy free set of bleeds and a cripple for CC or getaways. We lost one condition removal from swapping to FT and one from just swapping to EG. Not to mention some of the things you listed.

Nope it was with siege engines and explosives! And guess who made those yet this is still a very weak class in PVE due to the continual nerfs. /picardfacepalm

Challenge shame this game revolves around casuals

Actually it revolves around Korean grind philosophy not casual philosophy.

OP it’s prolly safer to ask what’s not fun. You’ll find that what people list as not fun, you’ll find in many areas of the game already mostly in the fundamentals like progression/rewards.

I find minidungeons/housing/fishing/crafting that doesn’t require RNG for mats, doing mini activities for cosmetics/decor that aren’t sold in the store, all of these activities tying together to include automatic reputation advancement for even more rewards later so that gameplay is seemless.

Crafting only way to Ascended?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

tigirius.9014

I simply don’t have the time to do ascended gear and what time I have to play I don’t want to spend it grinding champ farms or repeatedly running the same stuff over and over and over again.

Read my signature.

LOL I remember when that statement came out.

Remember the one where they didn’t want their title to feel like a job. That it should be fun thru and thru? Or how about the one where they claimed that because the DE/metas were so much easier for them to push out that those would be their focus (long before fractals showed up suddenly). I remember those clearly, those two were why I bought the game.

I am surprised honestly that they made it a crafting thing, that everything is BOP that it takes more time to gather the mats for ascended in some cases than T6 mats which they still hadn’t fixed a month after I stopped logging in and started reading patch notes. And that they didn’t adopt a karma system for ascended with the nerfs they already put in.

Complaining about the effort getting to ascended armor instead of making it will not do anything for you.

Because sitting around pledging on video about how you are against “boring, mundane, time wasting, unfun, poorly created games” is helping. I would think that the people who aren’t in denial are the people Anet wants to hear from, many of us are gone because of the polar opposite direction they turned after they got our money in the beginning and as customers we have the right to discuss and complain about all of it including the rewards nerfs (which were few and far between in the first place) as well as the lack of choices in reaching those rewards for progression.

What happened to the manifesto?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: tigirius.9014

tigirius.9014

People on other forums have said that some of the creative team were canned when launch happened. If this is true then that would explain the sudden immediate game change to fractals and the addition of ascended only two months into launch.

I’m not sure what happened myself but it does seem like people with completely different goals are working on this game than when it started.

Also, regarding Volkon’s response above, no characters don’t have instant access to anything at level 80 they have to grind for it. There is a VERY VERY large difference between getting using easily found currency by doing multiple choices when it comes to activities AND the single focus they have you doing in this title. In WoW for example, there are dailies, special questlines, solo dungeons, 3 man dungeons, 5 man regulars, 5 man heroics, 10 man raids, 25 man raids and flexible raids all of which give the two basic currencies for everything max level. What do they have here? The same few dungeons they had before, and the addition of fractals which if you reach a certain level you are cutoff because of lack of agony resist. So basically this game went against their own design philosophy and gave people FEWER choices for end game content to build what they need for the best statistical armor and weapons. There IS a difference and that’s what I think this thread is about.

It may appear to look as thou this is a qq thread but it’s not my intention,
The devs look like really nice peeps and im sure they are, they just have a nice way about them and i like them, i wonder thou what actually happened with gw2.

Things from the manifesto are quite the opposite, grind for example, i am sure the devs have been asked this before but idk, why the change? what happened? was it necessary? was the manifesto a ideal to strive for but in reality not really possible?

Does anyone have any links to the devs explaining why the game isn’t like the manifesto?

Again this isn’t a qq thread, i guess they had to make these changes but id like to know why.

I don’t see how this could make people be able to complete puzzles easier, I’ve yet to ever encounter one where a parachute could lift you higher to the next tier which generally is how most of the hardest ones work. Also, a simple 1 direction parachute would allow players the option of jumping without the problems of landing at the top of these puzzles because the hardest ones generally have no outside access surrounding the area that anyone could get high enough to leap onto these things and finish them from anywhere else.

I’m not the only one who posted things like multi-spec or mini buttons for all sorts of necessary items we use in the game either, there are loads of posts like mine that are there to improve the ui but were ignored entirely.

I’m fine with the changes so long as someone over there realizes that these ui changes are necessary and actually implement them.

I almost feel sorry for the dedicated few holding on to Anet’s vision and still defending them. Almost.

But to do or say the same thing over and over and expect something different is insanity, and I have no sympathy for self imposed insanity.

I almost feel bad for people who need to demean people who have a different opinion than they do. Honestly, you have your opinion and your’e entitled to it. Saying that you feel bad for people who have a different opinion is borderline offensive, not to mention argumentative.

If you have something of substance to say to add to the discussion, by all means, bring it on.

But disparaging people for having an opinion that differs from yours?

Probably not the best thing to post on forums…even if you think it.

Which vision would that be? The vision pre-launch that’s nothing like the game now?
The vision from Nov 2012 where Fractals would be the end all be all of all new content? or the vision of the living story being an adequate replacement for the monthly updates to DEs/Metas we thought this game would be based on the prelaunch interviews? because in my experience their vision has been a little ADHD.

I thought that by now they would have realized the grind isn’t supposed to be part of their vision, or that mmo’s shouldn’t be second jobs, or that the crowd that contributed a significant amount to their success was as important as these constantly complaining hardcore players that want every mob to be a boss and every boss to be in an instance.

As far as rewards, I’d like to see some currency system that doesn’t require hours of mindless grind, I’d like to see fewer gold sinks for gear, and I’d like to see a system that doesn’t desparage crafters, I’d also like to see a system for cosmetic gear that doesn’t require boxes and that adds cosmetics new cosmetics monthly.

I don’t grind for gold. I loot it off the dead in WvW.

Ah that’s where your wrong.
In this situation I cannot do fractals because the agony resist slots which allow you to do level 40+ come on ascended gear.

So basically they still haven’t changed the enormous grind necessary to get ascended gear yet? Didn’t they see the community’s reaction when they released it?

The rewards system in this game has got to change if they expect to keep any kind of large numbers for very long especially with other anticipated titles coming over the bend.

2013 is over. Did they keep their promises?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: tigirius.9014

tigirius.9014

Not trying to White Knight the topic, but they were not promises. They were goals.

A more productive discussion would be why Anet has problems realizing goals they set for themselves as a company. We as players can be let down just as easily by companies we feel invested in when they don’t meet self imposed goals, but the sense of betrayal found in this discussion is a little over the top.

Other companies give out goals all the time, they don’t bait and switch, they fulfill what they promise, they don’t try to do too much and get overloaded, they don’t make grandiose claims which aren’t true even with the craziest of marketing campaigns. This pretty much has been my experience with this title. And that’s on top of the lack of PTR testing (there’s a reason why it’s an industry standard folks) the ADHD priority list, the lack of rewards, the grind/dungeon focus in a title that wasn’t supposed to be a grind or all about instances. Need I go on?

Again my experience. I’ve experienced some problems in my time with games ever since starting mmo’s in the first place but no other game has ever put me off like this one has after giving me so much hype not once but multiple times, and I know I’m not alone in this.

I’m watching to see what happens. Other titles that I had similar issues in have since made good with their communities that’s why I’m here reading weekly to see what actually happens next.

You’re absolutely right. If they wanted to make it an all pvp on all the time sandbox game they could have early on, all of these nasty changes to the open world because people keep saying it’s too easy when they are playing classes like Warrior or Guardian is just laughable.

The reasons why people are playing open world so much isn’t due to any other issues other than the rewards system, we’ve told them about it multiple times and it’s still not improved really.

So long as the people who actually enjoy the grind, go forth and completely dec themselves out in full gear grind ascended and play classes that have had a history of being OP due to favoritism of course the game’s going to be easy.

Does GW2 play too much like real life?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: tigirius.9014

tigirius.9014

The TP is great in GW2 in that you can buy almost anything you want. But has Anet tweaked the RNG numbers so that we’re too reliant on the TP?

Farming for items or getting good drops from “normal” play is pretty much unviable in this game, considering RNG drop rates (as an extreme example, consider the 20-slot pail from halloween). If you want something then almost always, by far the easiest way is to farm gold and buy off the TP. So that means players are conditioned to play for gold.

Basically, you get a mind numbing tedious job that earns you gold (e.g. Champ farming), spend most of your time doing that, then spend that gold during the little bit of free time you have left over.

Certainly, players do have a choice, but Anet basically entraps people into playing this way. Is this a real-life simulation game? What’s next? Guild Halls with mortgages and utility bills? Mounts where you have to get a loan from BLTC to buy?

This is the exact problem Diablo III had and they removed both auction houses entirely from the game so people could get what they wanted from gameplay. It meant removing some of the restrictions on RNG as well but overall I think players are much much happier. They lost about 60% of their players early on because they kept trying to restrict the drops they even lowered even lower than most titles the drop rates of what we’d consider Exotics on this title (before ascended came along) and people got fed up and left.

Hopefully the devs here will do the same, it would go a long way to bringing the casuals back to the game I’m sure.

Engineer Burst build major flaw

in Engineer

Posted by: tigirius.9014

tigirius.9014

This has been a problem since launch, looks like they ignored it too. sigh.

Ok hear me out bros and girls.
When an engineer wants to use a bursty build, we generally choose 30/30 in the first 2 traitlines. for grenadier and modified ammunition.
That being said, the Critical damage line is all the way down in tools.
So an engineer has to either give up grenade kit (Best kit that scales with power) or give up modified ammunition just to be able to get more crit damage out of the tools tree.

I honestly wouldnt be complaining about this if it were the same for other classes, but its not. Guardian, Warrior, Thief, and Elementalist (the only classes I play other then engi) all have crit damage in the same traitlines used to make bursty builds. Seriously, I’ve yet to see a serious build that goes 30 into tools. Im not sure if this has been mentioned before, but it is a serious drawback to engineers using any kind of bursty power builds.

Engineer not finished class

in Engineer

Posted by: tigirius.9014

tigirius.9014

Playing engineer from the beginning I tend to think this class is not finished, there are some things that eng should have from the beginning: like rocket shoes + slick shoes should leave burning mark or burning field, lots of gadgets – like traits blinding (acid coating) have cooldown too long, which makes this class only for fun, as damage is pathetic, skills are not usefull (because of cc, traits in wrong tiers), all in one:

class was forgotten, there is no future for serious gaming, and as this year comes to an end it will deteriorate and dissapear from dungeon, pve, wvw -

the final year of the engineer, because of broken ideas. Now engineers are very often being kicked out from dung team – had it couple of times.

Is there a hope for our class? Do not think so…

0.o
Engineers are awesome, I don’t know what you’re talking about.

Coming back and looking at this class anew, I’ve done alot of reading watched alot of gameplay of other builds and even I have come to the same conclusion. This class was in an Alpha for the first year it was out, it’s now in a beta, and it needs alot more work, work it should have received before it was rush released. Sure they’ve made some serious changes but they’ve got a long long way to go before it actually receives the kind of care it needs to make it’s skills flow naturally as seen in other classes. I think that’s what the OP meant.

Grinding please please please

Turns out MMO players played other MMOs with grind because… they kinda like the grind and vertical progression, and stopped playing Guild Wars 2 because it didn’t have those things.

Who knew?

Actually other players farmed, farmed the items they needed big difference in terms there.

100k candy corn is a grind, 500 of 5-6 types of materials plus all of the other materials to go into a single ascended weapon is a grind, big big difference there.

Collaborative Development- Observations

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: tigirius.9014

tigirius.9014

Fingers crossed something actually does come out of this.

If this new collaborative process is earnest and the developers truly strive to communicate with their customers (PR speak isn’t communication) then they’ll do a lot to diffuse much of the growing hostilities among their customer base. They don’t have to enact the suggestions the community offers, but just listening to the community’s concerns and informing us why they do or don’t implement various changes will go a long way toward rebuilding some of the goodwill they’ve burned over the last year. However, if this is all just lip service given to placate the frustrated masses…the blowback will be fierce.

Sure they claim to want topics but where will it go from there.
There’s a repeat of history happening here again in these forums. I fear that the collaboration will just be something to keep us occupied longer in a title that doesn’t update well or test much before posting a live patch. And I believe that what’s really going on is that the collaboration is also a misdirect away from the greater problem of the new draconian rule coming around the bend, this happened btw in another title and they lost tons of players all at once when it occurred.

I don’t think anything will really come from the collab as history with this title for 1 yr + has shown us and I really don’t see a positive future coming from anything this new rule will provide.

I personally even thought of logging back into two of my older haunts due to this happening here in these forums, history repeats itself it seems.

GW2 Needs More Farm Alternatives

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: tigirius.9014

tigirius.9014

  1. In GW2, many reward nerfs — such as zone loot DR and the elimination of several farm spots — have been explained as being to prevent bot farming. This makes sense to me. Gold sellers hurt the game, and they hurt legitimate players. I believe this is why we see rewards being concentrated in content that is less amenable to bot farming, like Champions, meta events and zone zergs like the pavilion and invasions.

There’s a couple things I want to address here.

1.) I don’t see how this hurts Bots in the least bit, in fact the zergy easymode method of farming is by far the most beneficial to bots. All you have to do with auto attack, hell 80% of the people champ farming ARE essentially “botting” in a sense just because you can afk while doing it. Rewarding stuff that requires skill and teamwork would be loot that botters can’t touch.

2.) Diminishing Returns were/are a bad idea, they should focus on positive reinforcement instead of negative. Loot should be dropped slightly overall, then make it so the more you do one thing, the more the rest are boosted.

For example, take Dynamic Events. Now take the bonus xp/loot idle mobs accumulate. Now put them together, what do you get? Dynamic Events that scale up in rewards if ignored, this encourages people to spread out and do events all over the place, and discourages farming a single one.

It never has in fact it’s always hurt players only. Other older game developers found smarter ways to keep bots at bay because they realized it did nothing to hurt bots.

The history is long with this, they aren’t going to escape the facts that DR and loot manipulation are never the right things to do!

When do we get actual Oct 15 Patch notes?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

I love how people don’t actually read the post before posting…

I would delete your post OP, I tried asking about undocumented changes after the last balance patch and was rewarded with a 3 day vacation for “posting conspiracy theories”

Just a friendly warning.

I am the same way. It disturbs me that so many don’t realize what’s happening with the notes, they didn’t at all do everything they claimed for the engineer either!

I don’t use it at all because the cast time like all cast times of anything useful on this cast is entirely too long forcing this class to be a total #1 spam fest at this point.

shield...

tigirius.9014

hello everybody…

i must say that shield isnt bad on engineer… but… must say that it has a short block with static shield…

shield of absorption of guardian has 4s
shield stance has 3s
and statich shield before update was 2s, now its 1,5s…

to be honest why cant we have 3s block? without bringing toolkit with us???

cheers

Truly a great question. Even the refined kit doesn’t make any sense. It doesn’t last very long either. It’s like they don’t want engineers to be as defensive as other classes for some weird reason.

I don’t use it in PVE anymore even the stealth is messed up in PVE the creatures still see you even when you go invisible so it makes no difference honestly, until they fix that I don’t see stealthing being useful at all honestly.

Request: Remove turrets from game

in Engineer

Posted by: tigirius.9014

tigirius.9014

Might as well. As for the healing turret gotta disagree with coglin. Played my ranger there’s nothing more frustrating then playing another class and realizing that they can do the same thing I do on my engineer with half of the buttons needing to be pressed for the same effect.

Besides they can add all the hitpoints they want to any pet it won’t make any difference until these pets get immunity to AOEs to a certain degree otherwise they’ll remain useless.

10/15 Update: What Utilities Will U Use?

in Engineer

Posted by: tigirius.9014

tigirius.9014

Nothings really changed in PVE, the kits still don’t do the correct damage compared to the other choices of weapons the other classes enjoy.

The explosive radii is finally fixed however the damage is negligible.

There still haven’t been any buffs to using gadgets or kits, the kit refinement is terrible still. So elixirs are still superior. Still no fixes to the turrets, and frankly even with the extra hitpoints won’t make a difference.

I’d really like to ask that they hire in an avid engineer PVE player so make the changes possibly someone with the appropriate military weaponry background to make the class what it should be.

So basically my setup of using all elixirs save B on my utility bar combined with bomb kit, and supply drop hasn’t changed.

I blew 190 gold buying a Decorative Molten Jetpack in preparation for this change.

So much for that.

Just logged in to say God kitten.
I saw this while scrolling through the engineer subforum and I got that agressive mandril/revealed werewolf/Saw the Arc of the Covenant sort of shocked face when I saw how much gold you spent. Hopefully Arenanet gives you 100g and a cold compress for your pain and suffering.

Again, God kitten.
(also arenanet’s profanity filter is tooo good)

LOL!!!! @ the cold compress and the beginning of your post! Awesome almost spit out my water at the screen!

I’ve been real hesitant to login lately because this sortof thing. Is it really too much to ask that something that’s been a problem since beta be fixed by now? I mean we don’t really have any legendaries to look for, the kits don’t do as much damage as they should, the very LEAST we should have is better cosmetic options, they don’t have to see our kit pack even in PVP there’s just too much that’s happening for them to do anything about it. Do backpacks really need to be on the engineer anymore (kit versions)?

"Out of range"

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

tigirius.9014

this was suggested way back before even the southsun cove events started really wish things like this were already in the game. I hate waiting on a 4 second cooldown on my thief’s steal because it thought I could cast it instead of it not allowing me too and giving me the no way out of range red button effect that most other game titles give me.
