I been doing the living story and finally using up all the consumables I received from chests. I have the inventory open so I can use each one, especially the Killstreak one since I have so many.
And then it hit me. What if we had a bar we could enable just like other mmorpg’s, that only has all the consumables from your inventory. Food, boosters, mini, etc. Make it alot easier to use them then.
It could set it all automatic for you but manual might be best cause you may even want to put the bags on the bar so u can track how many you got or open them from there.
What does everyone think?
In one of many original posts in the suggestion forums that’s now thrown out, we asked for multiple buttons for many purposes.
This was one of them. A button to use buff or temporary effect consumables in the ui near where the skill buttons are located. We asked for buttons for minis to be summoned, and for appropriate keybindings.
No answer was given and of course those suggestions are now gone.
Are you worse or equal at pve or pvp if you’re doing more damage/surviving longer from a stat increase?
In the typical progression mmo, when you get inflated stats on your gear, mobs also follows the inflation. So if you can tank more, the mobs will also do more damage. Did you actually get stronger ? no, you grind so that you can go back to the same power level you had before the new tier of gear. It’s just a constant hamster wheel.
The same being true for pvp in another way, since the players who do care will all grind the new gear, so if you can tank more, the dps opponent in front of you can also damage more, in the end, no one gained anything from it beside wasting their time on a mindless grind.
Vertical progression is stupid and mindless.
Just look at ascended gear. Weapons do 5% more damage. But armor gives 5% damage reduction. So you grind for more damage, but then said damage gets negated by the armor grind. Two people fighting each other in ascended isn’t any different from a pure gameplay point of view as two people fighting each other in exotics.
All it does is make you do content you wouldn’t have wanted to, like grindfarm orr temples all day, so that you can keep your spot on the power curve, rather than be left behind. You’re grinding for the right to do the same thing you would have done if the grind didn’t exist, since the game doesn’t actually change, it’s only a general inflation of numbers.
Oh, i’m with you then, except on one part.
“Did you actually get stronger ?”.
Yes you did, dungeons do not scale, so you just got stronger by dealing more damage and taking less.
Then the worst offender, WvW, you deal more damage, take less and you’ll be against many many people who will be in full exotic gear because the grind is so ridiculous to some it’s just not possible to get there (my case), or because they got tired of their mains and want to go on alts, or because they want to try new builds.
Exactly. Aioros. It is so ridiculous. Some people were saying it would take them 10 months. And then there’s the cost of doing 2 weapons where classes use mainhand offhand combos who have to farm twice as much all for the ability to be stronger in places that this gear wasn’t supposed to be for. It was originally meant for Fractals for AR.
I also find it funny that people often call this vertical progression when in fact it’s a grind. It’s the very thing they said they wouldn’t do with the game, turn it into a grind for gear where everything is so ridiculously out of reach or you spend all your time trying to get the gear you need to compete.
To me it’s bad in the sense that here we are with patches that are supposed to be all about the story. Well most people probably won’t be enjoying the story because they’ll be too busy grinding away trying to get the mats (especially in cases where they do actually play WvW which is where this gear does give an advantage). So which do they want do they want people to constantly think about gear when they login or do they want people to think about the story and enjoy the content without a care in the world about gear?
That’s my question. And if indeed they do want people who perform better in dungeons/fractals why aren’t the benefits of having Ascended gear limited to solely dungeon/fractal purposes? why don’t the stats increase only when you enter the dungeons/fractals or why don’t they decrease/become unusable when you go to WvW?
These turret fixes will be useless if they haven’t addressed the tendency for them to be insta-destroyed in large groups by the constant use of AOE’s.
In order to fix that problem all pets/summons need a global 90% immunity to AOE damage and the ability to not be autotargeted by single target skills.
They’ll continue to be unwise choices until they are given proper defense.
I personally would love to see the solution for all summons/critters to have 90% AOE immunity and for turrets to not be autotargetable. It would improve them considerably across the board and bring pet heavy builds back up to par with everything else.
I think the medkit and the effects from EG should be affected by the 409 trait that would make it more viable and give people more credible options other than all pistols potions in the setup. I also think they need to return the extra healing field to the Kit Refinement even if they leave out the stun removal it’s very much needed to make healing more viable as well.
I thought they had fixed the need for this in PVE by now. Have they done no testing on this class to see that it actually has to have stacking like this in order to come close to the DPS of other classes in PVE? Why is that not the single priority right now in the balance department?
Yep it’s terrible has been from the start. Meanwhile other classes can remove condis like mad crazy every second. We have only 1 trait that does that and it locks us into the use of all elixirs. Oddly it doesn’t affect the Elixir Gun or the Med Kit’s other skills when you choose this trait even tho they use the same types of things (alchemical effects) to achieve similar goals.
If they had concerns they should have made minor adjustments to that 1 skill, instead they broke KR entirely by taking out a plethora of other skills that were highly useful and only put 1 in that made very little difference in the process. (the shield from the healing kit)
To me it’s kinda like removing the rocket from the bazooka and replacing it with fireworks and wondering why nothing is blowing up when firing.
This is EXACTLY why they don’t answer us or respond to threads about if/when they’re going to fix something. Exactly. People crucify them for it and start negative threads like this “Anet you promised, it was 6 months ago, blah blah blah”.
He didn’t say when.
Actually that’s no longer a valid excuse. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with customers asking when something that was promised is coming around the corner. We’ve been promised alot of things in the engineering forums things they keep saying they are “working on” but we still have yet to see them.
I applaud the OP for asking what is going on and why this type of thing keeps happening when it comes to the priority list. How can one expect people to take you at your word if all we keep seeing are delays and empty promises? Professionally speaking where is the break down in the process that keeps leading to extended wait times? Aren’t all classes supposed to be treated professionally equal in their concerns?
ANET does indeed listen to it’s customers, but they don’t give a kitten about Engineers. Almost 1 year and nothing done about multiple Engi issues.
This is what they care about. 9 months ago and 2 responses in the thread and they made it happen. https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/archive/suggestions/Please-make-an-endless-quaggan-tonic
11 months and almost 600 replies and close to 50,000 views and nothing.
As Colin once said, “We’re currently focusing our engineering (programmers, not guys with net guns) resources that could work on solutions to issues like kits/skins on major systems that address issues higher priority and wider reaching”
If that were true then they’d have fixed the turrets lack of defense, the range of the rifle, and kit refinement by now. Also turrets would have racial skin designs and so would backpacks which is one of the many things that was posted in the original suggestions forums a long long time ago.
Thing is if this were any kind of priority it would have been done. Some of us have been talking with them about this since Launch and here we are continuing the conversation about it. It’s not that difficult and people can see what we’re doing in PVP enough to know which kit we have, stalling and excuses like this aren’t going to fix the problem and that’s what I feel they are doing.
(edited by tigirius.9014)
Another patch, another event back piece, another slap in the face.
^^This
We can’t use our new shiny back piece…..
An engineer playing P/S with kits will almost never show his back piece…
Yep I have no idea why they are waiting so long to do something about this. weird. The toggle system can’t possibly be that difficult to code.
They could totally turn this into a money making venture if they wanted to. Even if they added the toggle it would still be awesome to be able to buy backpacks that had different racial designs, even cosmetic kits that changed the look of everything an engineer used from backpacks to turrets all themed!
I don’t understand why they wouldn’t do this, I’m sure it would do well in the store. weird.
Now its the bomb and e-gun that have OP effects
Actually, the elixir gun also had an OP effect with the old kit refinement. Being able to instance drop an extra super elixir mean that you could instantly break out of fears, and you would generally then drop your normal super elixir on top of the KR one to effectively double the power of super elixir. The healing output of this was equatable to the ranger’s troll unguent, except that it applied to 5 allies standing in the AoE. In dungeon groups, this provided very strong healing for your party, who would often be stacked up to tackle mob groups anyways. In addition, you still had your normal healing skill to work with. It made the elixir gun a very powerful tool to defend nodes with in sPvP as well since you could give yourself strong additional healing while not having to leave the node.
I know isn’t it terrible that we actually had a system that worked and worked well, much less a system where there actually was a healing role? I mean cmon, we all know that we shouldn’t have healing in this game, there’s only burst DPS roles for everyone! <.<
They really should return it to what it was, the omgwtfbbqeverythingisop crowd is just going to have to get over it. PVE should not suffer because PVP players cannot learn how to build their characters for a good defense and offense balance.
The thing that gets me is they didn’t change that 1 skill. If they removed the ability for it to remove CC that would have been fine but they went wayyyyyy overboard and destroyed alot of other very useful things like caltrops for bunker condition builds and a shield that doesn’t even last as long as shields from other classes 5 seconds. spssh
Not since they ruined it, no.
Exactly my sentiment.
The male armor never reveals enough imo.
Windu, I like you dude. That’s a breakdown that makes it black and white.
Not as black and white as these are different games.
Completely irrelevant.
Even if the games were completely different and had no correlation with eachother whatsoever (which is not the case), the expansion model is still vastly superior, which is what this argument is about.
Love how they use that excuse. STO is a scifi based game and does ground events WAY better than GW2 they are in different genres but it’s still the same basics for everything same behind the scenes rules of numbers and event handling.
It’s amazing to me that people don’t see this. Even some soon to be B2P games that are FPS will have better event handling/rewards. Themepark sandbox FPS vs RPG doesn’t matter under the hood it’s the same basic set of rules that they should be using same ui elements which should be standard by now. Like the map/minimap showing of where other players are running around/grouped. Something so fundamental shouldn’t be just left out just because they ran out of time when the game launched.
And then there’s the whole expansion pack worth of updates that F2P games are putting out for free. no DLC no nothing.
pretty much tossed out all of our suggestions and started over, like none of us who were there at the beginning knew what was wrong with the picture. Now they have different types of subforums for suggestions.
also, champs should be able to cleave and AOE everything in its range and not be capped by 5
I do agree with that.
1v1 champ is a pain
2v1 champ is easy
3v1 champ is no brainer
4v1 champ is gimmi
5v1 champ is ‘what champ?’
champs need to scale better. bosses, too. not just more hp – that’s boring. But a boss and a champ should be able to take on 5 players almost as easily as 1.
here i thought they fixed that already…sigh oh well
I’ll be watching. hopefully it will be soon these changes.
The only people it would be a bad idea for are the people with entirely too much Gold who exploited the game in the SSC event and got rich almost immediately off the whales.
It would be a step in the right direction towards fixing their economy.
The OP has an excellent point. The open world is dead empty. Why? because there is nothing to be made from it and there is no reason to return it once you have done all the hearts. This is a problem. When the open world is empty, that is very strong evidence something was not done right.
Sad too. It was originally supposed to be THE focus of the game.
You stop doing 1-spam open world content. Why should the easiest content in the game be rewarding? It shouldn’t.
Does not compute
Nope never has. It’s like saying “why should you get loot off anything, nothing should drop loot EVAR”
uhm because you need gold since there really isn’t a sensible way of getting T6 mats yet even with the changes.
Even with high mf. (glares at the above statements that are still a misdirection)
Why the new maps like Southsun Cove or Edge of the Mist dosen’t count for 100% world competition? The same with new PoI’s and WP’s.
I would further ask that the WvW zone be taken out of the world completion and be replaced by SSC and EotM if it is indeed PVE.
Well First let me address some of the misconceptions people have about posters.
We’re not all curmudgeon. I post positive things about the hopes I have, about how I like what’s happening in CDI and their proposed future for the game all the time. I also post about what I think they should stop doing.
Second, some of us have stopped playing yes but it doesn’t mean we aren’t watching. I have friends who play I see the game on their computers while playing and I pay attention to what’s happening in the patches waiting for the day that the fundamental reasons why I stopped playing will be fixed.
And finally, the reasons why people have become sour is because they didn’t deliver on their promises. Loads of prelaunch (just before the betas ended) interviews had many statements on the direction of the game that completely changed 2 months after launch. Add to that more than a year of throwing out great suggestions in the sugggestions folder (things that would have easily fixed the inherent problems of the game because GASP they actually were problems years ago in other titles and solutions have already been hashed out that worked very well over the years) nerfs to classes that didn’t need nerfing in PVE while other classes were given even more power, the newly added ascended grind etc etc the list is long. Suffice it to say that we’re watching to see what happens next. The question as someone put it on one of the gamer news sites I frequent is can they redeem themselves in the eyes of their playerbase. Can they fix these problems and get us back. That’s why I come here.
This restless fan must have forgotten this is free2play without a subscription and yes they have added content the last time i’ve checked.
That’s no longer a valid excuse when older titles like LOTRO and STO continue to add free permanent content in expansion like patches every year sometimes twice a year. They are just as F2P as GW2 is the difference is they haven’t given up on improving and they haven’t thrown out useless temporary content that goes away after the 3rd month to keep people playing.
Who keep convincing themselves ascended gear is ‘optional’ and not required for high level play, be that pve or wvw. They keep ringing their: It’s only a 5% stat difference… it doesn’t matter.
It’s true but it’s also irrelevant argument. It’s better and it doesn’t matter how much better it is it’s still better which means if one wants to remain at the top in the systems like DPS based rewards, and WVW survival one needs the highest gear. It doesn’t matter if BillyBobJoeBob can possibly do it without that gear, not everyone is BillyBobJoeBob so they have no valid point.
“Not that bad” is still a form of “bad”.
That’s the thing that gets me. They are dismissive. And then there’s the people who claim that even 1 day of work on a toon is a grind. that’s so not the definition of a grind.
A grind is something you have to do for an extended period of time to remain competitive in any part of the game.
That means that the grind here, for ascended gear, whether they agree on how much of an advantage it gives players or not (which is irrelevant btw) is a grind. In order to get the ascended right now in it’s current incarnation, you have to spend months gathering the required materials and building whole sets of what you need. Not everyone uses just 1 weapon type, some use two and often the cost is the same for 1 off hand as it is for a mainhand so that right there is double the time.
If you look at similar systems in other titles, even in those titles well known for extending the gameplay time for the purpose of slowing down progression they aren’t as bad as the ascended grind on this title.
And then there’s the whole “what they promised us the game wouldn’t be” argument that people who claim the grind isn’t a problem are completely ignoring.
I think this is a good idea actually. I think also that they could easily prevent people from using this sigil in PVP so that wouldn’t be an issue.
I don’t understand why people like theorycrafting either. The only time I’ve done it was in another title and that’s only because that title has just as many problems balancing as I see here. I just happened to be playing a class they nerfed into oblivion over there also, so I’ve been spending time trying to find things that work and work well.
I hope what they claimed to be their goals in their first CDI thread is what they are actually planning! because if so that would be nice to have new skills, new types of weapons to use, and better access to armor skins for PVEers without a crazy grind or buying gold from the store.
I think this was addressed in the first CDI where they spoke of getting skills through completing achievements which would vastly increase the number of builds while also adding new weapon types to certain classes that didn’t exist before.
I could be mistaken but that’s what I thought I read.
Didn’t WoW tackle this within the first 6 months after battlegrounds were released? Honor being tied to damage.
Korean OP, calling it.
That’s true. It’s been hashed and rehashed historically throughout multiple development histories. Something definitely should be done. Even older games have taken care of this problem in their versions of open world events.
This doesn’t just cut out support it cuts out anyone else with non-berserker gear. So that includes, CC, support, and condition damage builds.
The fact of the matter is this. The grind is yet another symptom of a larger problem. One by one these problems crop up. I often wonder if there is anyone who’s played MMO’s on the team because the mistakes that are being made are those of people who’ve never heard of these problems before. They are basic ones. Grind, forced temporary gameplay, forced extended gameplay, severe imbalance in PVE (some of which is so easily dealt with by doing the things already done before it’s boggling), the problems that come with an all RNG loot system, DR, extending goals well beyond anything reasonable…
All of these things have been hashed and rehashed multiple times throughout mmo history. The developers that survived things like DR/RNG developed knew better ways of handling these things that kept their players. Heck even now some of the developers games I’m still playing who have in the past held onto their horrible balance team designs are actually making headway into making the weaker classes more in line with the rest and providing great ways of getting gear that don’t require a kidney to achieve.
It is that bad here sorry to disappoint the OP but it is, and it’s not the only thing that’s wrong. If there is someone who knows the history I’m speaking of on the team than they must be someone that no one listens to even tho they have invaluable information on what NOT to do in an mmo because these things were fail and even went so far as to destroy games populations with a single incident taking the games in question offline permanently because the company went under.
I don’t think anyone here wants that to happen to GW2, I know I don’t because I see great potential but something’s gotta be done about communication of the history of how these things were already hashed out and tried by other companies long ago and how they affected those games so they can use what did work and work well to both balance the classes and eliminate the grind.
(edited by tigirius.9014)
Maybe the thread should be renamed to “What happened to the prelaunch interview promises” because I think that might be more important.
Such as, what happened to the mobile apps, the horizontal progression, the promises of combat being diverse and exciting, there not being a gear grind for the top tier gear, that balance would be the focus between classes (where it’s repeated on the main page about how no class should suffer in combat as their clear design focus in balancing the classes)….
need I say more.
(oh and I DO mean those that were being talked about during the BWE’s right up until launch day not those from years ago during the early stages of design. The ones I watched and read were made right up until launch day and were a major factor in the purchase for many of us)
(edited by tigirius.9014)
‘Meta’ [met-uh]: Latin
Meaning – We can’t balance kitten
Not going to lie but that made me laugh. lol =)
Just how much balance do you think is possible? It sounds like the level of balance many want would only be possible if there were one class with one skill.
There is only one class with one skill that’s important here or didn’t you hear? Warrior and “For Great Justice” ;D
I hopped into a Wurm event and all of the talk was about making sure you’re running meta spec. All members of each class running the same builds and using the same skills in an event, not a dungeon. This is a very bad trend IMO and so I just left. Guild Wars 2 had lofty goals pre launch, and said all of the right things, but has become a game filled with rigid adherence to clone builds. Play the game the way you want to play it seems a distant memory.
It died the moment that condition damage was nerfed, every high level mob became CC immune, and healing was never truly buffed as it should have been.
That’s when I said “so much for the Anet trinity” when while on my engineer I was dropped and ignored for running in dungeon groups. Since then I have never looked at dungeons at all, and have only run with guildies if they happen to have a space. Otherwise why bother with it? All it’s going to be is a headache, either people are going to exploit or they are going to enjoy the game and I’m not going to make my toon like everyone elses.
I didn’t in other games not going to do it here.
I personally would go for the community picking to topic through votes to remove any possibility of immediately important topics from being avoided entirely.
WvW first and foremost is PVX, you can do your daily in WvW easily if you just get out of the zerg once in a while.
Also to note it is the hardcore elite of WvW that thinks it’s PVP well they are truly wrong on that. I agree that WvW completion should not be tied to World Completion I also agree that commander tags should cost a bit more but not to be allowed accountbound. As for balance it’s simple PVE is so unbalanced it’s unreal and the mix of the player VS Player is again balanced to an edge of its life. Anet just need to do a large balance sweep across the board to shift a lot of the top tier classes, hopefully when this large balance feature patch comes it’ll help with the balance issues.
One can only hope but I agree with the op, I would like to see WvW achievement requirements taken out of purely PVE gameplay because this is not Aion we don’t need to make the same mistakes as before (like world exploration, forgive me if they already did it)
I would also like to see them balance the classes range on weapons that are exactly the same weapon (such as warrior rifle vs engineer rifle) the same goes for other classes, and I’d personally ask for them to make engineers a heavy class instead of a leather class because in every other title they have always traditionally been a soldier class like they were in BWE1 before the change.
I completely agree with you on this one.
Nerfing isn’t the answer bringing the damage of the other metas up to where they should be is the answer.
They nerfed Condition damage way back in Nov 2012 for the sake of PVP when pvp and pve skill behaviors had not been separated yet in the balancing process before even the huge nerf to engineer kit refinement had occurred.
I say they return the usefulness of the other builds to PVE and this will fix the problem.
Right now their meta is burst DPS is the only way to go. They need to make healing a bigger thing, bring up the condition damage to where it used to be at launch in PVE, and make enemies no longer immune to CC. That would fix the problems and since they have the capacity to make these changes only in PVE now, it wouldn’t affect PVP at all.
I might also add that they need to look at how much base damage and range these skills have such as the desparity between the ranged attacks of the warrior, ranger, engineer because there’s some huge balance problems there as well.
No, the problem here is the people that designed watchwork pick and okayed it’s introduction into the gemshop. Players are not to blame for that – do not try to shift responsibility on them.
Though i agree that people should stop with all the p2w outrage. It only muddles the real issue here.
The problem is ENTIRELY player-side. 100% on us. WE buy this kitten. If we didn’t, we wouldn’t keep seeing it.
It is NOT Arena.net responsibility to say, “Oh? You want to give us money for this? Naaaaah. What do you think we are? A company that is supposed to make money?”
Look in the mirror. Players are the problem.
And ya know what… the entire “buy a legendary thing?” Guess what… if someone was willing to give you approximately $1000 for a weapon skin… something tells me you wouldn’t say “No.”
Actually no it’s not. Because we’ve seen how this type of economy works in the first place in past titles. It’s not the players fault that the economy is the way it is because all loot was “adjusted” just prior to their release of the data concerning the new island and the plans for fractals and ascended gear. When I first started this game, not only were there exotic drops from Champs with no limitations, but there were also exotic drops from chests in the open world.
When they “adjusted” the loot the ratio became so bad that it adversely affected the economy in this game, or have you forgotten how people left the island event with not 1 but multiple precursors? What made it worse was the fact that they wouldn’t admit to it even when thousands of players saw the problem and wrote not one but three major threads about the issue. They let it go on so long that it broke the economy they claimed they were trying to protect.
Sure part of the problem is that players continue to buy these things yes I’ll admit that however it’s HARDLY the fault of the players that the economy is the way it is which is the main concern of the players who are complaining. Had they listened to their playerbase long ago and taken action immediately there would be far fewer complaints.
I said it before and I’ll say it again, I feel sorry for all the new players because it’s going to take them an extremely long time to get anything of merit because of the cost. You know there’s a problem with your drop rates when it’s easier to farm gold to get the items you need (like T6 mats) than it is to actually find them on nodes or from enemy drops.
So it’s a half half situation.
(edited by tigirius.9014)
As opposed to people who would be fine if they made you play for 4 years to get the item? With some I’ve noticed they could demand your first born and you’d say something like “well the content isn’t Free you know we all must make sacrifices in order to play so they get compensated for their work” <.>
Anyone else notice this? Doesn’t matter the power creep, doesn’t matter the RNG algorithms from 1999 for essential materials for crafting… there can be no wrong doings in the eyes of people like this. When does it become too much I wonder? Other titles have far far better systems of advancement than this and require a certain minimum yes however they don’t double and triple the cost of gear pieces as they put them out just to delay the players advancement and keep them logged in, not like this they don’t.
So they add content based on the guys that log in and spend 4 hours a day to do all the achievements of the game!
And what about the 12k gap between the previous piece of armor and that one? That doesn’t make any sense.
The ammount of AP is just absurb considering that there are 2 armor pieces left.It gives you a goal. Something tells me you will be able to live without it until then. The problem I see with a lot of people on these forums is the, “It’s there. I should be able to get it right now!” mentality. Long term goals are good.
I see they haven’t changed one of the biggest problems with the game yet. One of the reasons I left was due to this and the whole idea of buying crafting bags with laurels didn’t help much either. Still waiting on these materials to be put into nodes so it’s no longer an issue. (sits back and waits for them to get on it.)
The trading post, in all honesty.
Nice try, guy with thousands up mats up for sale!
He’s right. Drop rates are really bad in this game so if you go out farming for a particular mat or tier of mats, you’ll be really disappointed and frustrated. The game is designed so that the least frustrating way to get most items is to farm gold and to use that gold to buy whatever you want off the TP.
How to farm gold? Dungeon running is very profitable. The Frostgorge champ train is as well.
Full disclosure: I currently have around 40 scraps of silk for sale on the TP along with perhaps 50 pieces of various gear.
That’s funny. I raid on WoW for about 3-4 hrs a week and get geared in a couple months. Typically there are 5-6 months between tiers. I have fun and it’s not a grind. What would I get out of 3-4 hrs a week here? Probably spend half of it simply waiting on a single Teq event lol
Same here. Currency systems are far superior. The problem i had with the ascended weapon grind in particular was the whole aspect of even getting the mats that were random, and then having to rely on laurels (that i wanted to save for other things mind you) and then having to build up the same exact materials for a two hander for 1 pistol. I mean really? Even WoW had half currency on the Timeless Isle for 1 handed weapons.
I Like building up resources to get things, that’s not the issue with me at all with this system, but making it so that many of the items that you need may or may not drop off of mobs is ridiculous. It’s like WoW’s older system from the 40 man days I’m sure you remember where you ran dungeons/raids literally forever before getting that final drop. It’s one of the reasons I left Cata, they had no shoulders for hunters preraid, it was literally easier to get a PVP shoulder than run the dungeon 400 times.
This system is much worse because you’re not just running a dungeon your getting mats from all over the place and many of them have a chance to NOT drop. I play other titles with a currency based gear system far far superior. There’s even a guild gear system in one of the scifi games I play. Love it got my guy geared half way through getting the guild up to tier 3. This game could totally use a revamp of gearing the toons starting with replacing the currency for racial gear with karma, making laurel gear cost karma. They could also do with an update guild system, where resources could be pooled into a guild development system with gear as the reward.
You mean the crowd control that’s absolutely useless? that doesn’t stop droves of enemies from coming at you? And what about aggro? It’s completely random, it’s like this zombie comes up to your group everyone else is doing huge burst damage, and suddenly it notices you are just standing there, ignores all of that damage and comes after you.
Or how about the serious lack of concern for any other build in the game other that burst dps? Seriously, conditions, CC, healing all useless in this title and that’s why everyone goes burst because they want to speed run through everything.
Last time I checked that’s not balance or coordination, that’s just hitting buttons as fast as you possibly can to get through something. It’s certainly not far superior as a system.
GW2 has a new and improved trinity: Damage, Control, Support. A far superior, more flexible and more complex system. A system that requires a lot more team coordination to really shine.

Yes, really. Not only does the team need to coordinate thier crowd control, but they also need to think about their own survival and the survival of the other team members. A good, coordinated, group can dominate a larger group in WvW if played right. And to do this you need to have a lot more on your mind than simply healing your allies and keeping out of harms way. Or grabbing agro and keeping it.
The old trinity had its complexities, but it split those tasks (complexities) up between the different members of the group, so that each member only had a few things to do. In GW2, EVERY member has to think about EVERYTHING. And has been given the tools to deal with it.
That is not to say that players cannot focus on a particular role, they can. It just means that while focused on a role, they must also be very mindful of, and take part in, other roles.
But like I said, and was promptly ignored by your non-constructive comment, the AI in GW2 is no where near up to scratch to make real use of or challenge the combat system it has. With the exception of a handful of encounters maybe. If the general AI was vastly improved the combat in GW2 (PvE) would feel a whole lot better.
Also, no combat system is perfect for everyone and every combat system undergoes a massive amount of balancing. But overall, GW2’s reinvented trinity (AI aside) is a much better system IMO.
looks like nothing has changed, salvages still low or unreliable, extreme materials required. wonder when we’ll have a CDI on these issues?!
Take a screenie every time you join a full group, that will allow you to go back and block the people who kicked you
there are many many problems however I think they’ll need to look at the overall mechanics of champs and bosses to make CC viable and to make condi dmg viable. and then there’s plenty of trouble with the game’s AI leashing is one of them in dungeons I agree. Whatever happened to enemies chasing you no matter where you were in the dungeon?

Hi Anet Achievement team.
I wanted to chime in and say I actually love dailies and it doesn’t seem like too much to me (also a completionist)
My guild loves them as does my brother.
Can you do me a favor? Keep up the good work.
P.S. Add weeklys too!
:)
Requested weeklies back in the day when dailies began, I hope your post let’s them know that hey, they need weeklies badly.
I agree the last incarnation of the dailies i experienced were well worth it and were simple to achieve. Even some of the monthlies were quite agreeable for us filthy casuals to complete.
I would love to see some more items available from doing these however, like cosmetics available that cost a small amount of laurels.
There’s nothing legendary about randomness.
I completely agree. There’s nothing fancy about random drops either. This call for games to go backwards in design by a small niche of the playerbase isn’t just limited to GW2 mind you it’s happening in every game title across all of MMO’dom. It started about the time that the numbers waxed and waned in one of the largest games out there in the number of players as casual people began to get involved in these themepark titles and like it or not, these players who are calling for the olden golden days will simply have to accept the reality that casual players are the meat and potatoes that drives the purchases in these titles after the initial rush.
Now that that’s out of the way, I totally support making precursors craftable because the economy has already been ruined both by an unfair system that allowed players access to the 1st island’s chest which gave them multiple precursor drops, and due to the fact that the drop rate before they changed how magic find works in this title, was lopsided at best which gave people an unfair advantage.
The damage has already been done, it’s been a problem since November 2012, and it’s time that it be rectified. The only way they’re going to turn this problem around and repair the economy is to make these items more available. It’s just like the T6 materials, they added methods of gaining them in order to improve crafting all around and it’s repaired much of the problems with crafting.
One can only hope they continue down this path.
It became inflammatory because after 12 hours and thousands of reactions, not one dev cared to react. It didn’t help, in any event.
Sounds a bit like the reactions that forum posts received about the loot problems.
Was this item temporary like other picks in the past? I can totally see people getting up in arms about this because they promised us a better economy.
To me it’s the same old issues we’ve seen before. The economy in this game has been the worst I’ve ever experienced, and I’ve experienced the inflated nonsense from a single server with few farmers on other titles. I’ve also noticed that when it’s a touchy subject that generally they ignore it.
I fully expect next, to see a community manager of some type come on here and in a passive aggressive way make people think that it’s all in their heads as we’ve seen in every other major issue players have taken with the actions of this group. I sincerely hope not but I’m a bit of a realist when it comes to how these things are handled these days.
Didn’t someone in the past post that the economist involved in this game wasn’t from Arenanet but from NCsoft or was that a myth?

In Anet’s attempt to get away from the trinity, they only managed to make everyone be DPS.
Man, I’d love playing a defensive-ish warrior type, but it’s not “optimized” and “slows down everyone and is a detriment to the party.” :<
There are other titles which have recently been released that have a great trinity lite system where it’s not forced on players but even tanks do respectable damage. They have three paths to follow to give alot of choices on what to do with the class and dungeons/events don’t require any particular class/spec/role however when you have the right roles together it becomes a beauty in motion.
I’ve asked for trinity lite since this game launched because it wouldn’t force anyone but would give those teams who do like roles the ability to run as we’d like AND it would solve the “everyone must be burst DPS” nonsense that their current system requires.
