How to get Rare items?! 78% mf

Yesterday i completed an explorer set in order to get as much mf as i can afford.
so now i got 78 % mf and i tried do some dungeons to get rare stuff, but i got nothin.
did i do something wrong? i mean is there a better way to get those stuff or i just dont have luck ?!

despite all this “you must be geared properly and level 80 to run dungeons” nonsense, I will answer the OP’s question.

MF numbers much be above 250% for it to have a significant affect on drops (at least with my experience) and often will not drop anything unless it’s this high.

DR seems to have a bug where it is actually almost a permanent thing when activates, activates across all characters of an account, and has no timer to turn it off.

Unfortunately, very few of us on these boards want evidence and facts. More people would rather complain and whine and threaten to quit.

But thank you for your effort, it’s not lost on everyone, just… almost everyone on these boards.

I guess the visual of the numbers representing damage on the graph moving down since launch doesn’t mean anything to you, huh? Or the notion that negating the damage, ie. making it less then before, is somehow not a nerf I thought was particularly funny. Nice try though.

- Attack speed issues with numerous skills, especially #1 skills on auto.

grenades/pistols/bomb timers come to mind on this one, they’ve been too slow since day 1. Even for the thief pistols.

The new drops fix uses the bags that have T6 items in them, no Karka ever drops bags. So we are seeing an increase of players in the gorge and orr for higher chances of getting bags.

Personally I’d love to find out from someone which types of orrians drop the bags the most and if they used a small mf boost like food to get the bags to drop more often?

You all are getting a bad link because you’re using textile wrong. Read the freakin’ instructions.

Anyways, I do not get the choice to go 30 into inventions for a wimpy +30 power. Why not pull that out, get more precision and condition damage, and give your rifle kits the power to blind to give you some addition support and staying power? Here is a link to the build.

You could also go for speedy kits and 10% further faster recharge rate on throwable elixirs, but I confess to despising that goofy kit dance while running just for mediocre mobility that is impossible for this build to maintain in combat. The days of everyone feeling obligated to take the medkit are over.

If they only made it 25% out of combat it might. I still have to use it in Orr to escape. Still don’t have the speed that my thief and ranger both enjoy.

Hmm .. if you´re solo-PvE player, that is just lvl-ing .. it might prove to be an issue .. but for the “rest” of us – I pray they won´t touch the current setup – cos they would screw us even more, after all It´s already quite powerful.

Since most of proper Engineers don´t bother to reply to this meaningles topic, I´ll be the necessary arshole. You are semi-eng, since you didn´t realize anything and thus, I will adress ya this way .. so listen carefuly, I hate to repeat this valuable lesson each day ..

First skill “Throw Junk” .. it goes with lore .. point number two, observe what it does – it gives a random condition upon your target .. RANDOM – which means, it might pop up a “control condition” – immobilize, slow, fear ..
Second skill “Grappling Line” .. canceling channeling skills, moving enemy .. and providing CONTROL even if downed. (..wait for it..)
Lastly “Booby Trap” .. another control skill when downed – providing knockback effect .. and most importantly – COMBO FINISHER !!

So, my beloved “brainiacs” .. after you reach lvl 80, doing stuff solo is only for fun, or relax .. but to gain something valuable you always need at least 2-4x more ppl. For whatever you want to gain, or do .. our Downed skills are THE BEST .. no class has so much control in downed state. And if you get a capable group with ya – that combo finisher is indeed priceless. So I´ll stress it again .. ArenaNET – don´t touch downed state .. rest of you guys – learn how to play within the merits of a group – there lays the true power of ENG profession.

Spoken like someone who has never stepped foot into any type of PvP. Maybe you should think before trying to call out other people “brainiac”.

Engi downed state is useless in WvW (I don’t sPvP but i imagine it is just as useless).

  1. Here let me pull this target to me making it easier for them to finish me.
  2. I can not think of a time where I have been downed in PvP that I’ve ever been able to use this.
    So basically we get a spam attack and a self heal. Other classes do have it pretty bad though but many have useful stuff.

If they want to keep the carebears like the guy I quoted happy. Well there are ways to keep things in line with lore without being useless in any kind of PvP setting.

It’s actually quite useless in world events as well when we have lots of people around because we tend to not be able to activate #4 to heal even with someone else there, and we tend to not be able to help the situation to keep the mobs away or make them think we aren’t there. I’m quite sure this is a problem in dungeons as well altho it’s prolly not as glaring a problem there as every other situation we find ourselves in.

I’m quite sure that as an engineer in these forums, people are tired of hearing the phrase “lrn2play” as a solution to the problems with this class. Please be more constructive with your posts.

Every class has well thought out options for escape, defense, or self healing in order to return to the fight faster with less assistance accept engineers. In an attempt to start a dialogue with the dev team, I am outlining some of the major questions engineers are concerned about. Please feel free to add your thoughts.

We have alot of great tech as options that are already in our traits such as cloaking devices, magnetic shielding, blocking with a giant gear shield, explosives, why can’t we use these abilities while downed to help facilitate our own self rally?

Also, why is condition damage not an option for downed state damage? Why can’t our #1 ability be throwing minor explosives that do burning condition damage, or mini grenades?

I am using a sup sigil of fire for each of my weapons, while using a flame thrower kit heavy on the cond damage traits and might building at the moment. I have a pistol and shield combo going when one flame AOE is on cooldown the next one hits over and over they go.

don’t forget that most of our utility traits are not in the same places at all the other classes.

Other classes enjoy things like 50% endurance regen, 5% crit chance, and automatic application of boons when switching to a different weapon or using a skill automatically. The first two happens with the same category class adventurer, which makes it even more insulting. It’s like they just threw together some traits for the engineer and said OH that one might be too powerful let’s move it to grandmaster. Meanwhile the first two i listed were from the thief and the ranger tree and they only need 5-10 points to get those. Yeah that’s fair right? smh

well for one thing we do know the history of the entire industry and history has shown us that every mmo has had to have a PTR, however Anet seems to think they are too good to have to deal with the reality of untested patches, so there you go.

It’s obvious to some that they aren’t playing this class on a regular basis, it appears to most that they just throw some new patch in and try it out on unmoving dummy targets on the simulator system they have setup to test these things because if they TRULY honestly tested these changes they would know how they don’t work.

Here’s one for you:

Toss elixir R was nerfed, going from a CD of 90 seconds to a cd of 120 seconds. This was done for pvp purposes and was a result of a complaint thread on the spvp forums.

Thing is, almost every single build out in pvp has inertial converter which resets the cooldown of all toolbelt skills which means you can use toss elixir R far more than evey 90 seconds, let alone 120 seconds. It was a blind and completely impotent nerf showing a complete ignorance of engineer mechanics.

That is one of the most obvious examples of a balance change that showed a complete lack of class know-how. I can provide more If you’d like, I just don’t want to spam the thread.

Maybe we should all go to the sPVP forums and complain about the pve aspects of this class being ignored for far too long, we might actually get a response then huh. Someone should try it because if they answer us there, that will show us what they care about.

I’m more worried as an engineer about how every class has a magical seal that lets them move faster, ooooOOOoooo ahhhhhhhh. yet when we get a trait that increases our movement rate, it’s only IN COMBAT and doesn’t stack with anything. Whatever I think I’ll check out MoP now. As an Engineer I’m tired of being a second class citizen, I have to deal with that in real life shouldn’t have to deal with it in game.

thought this game would be different, but apparently it’s not. Limiting play so that people will jump into a single dungeon for everything isn’t the best thing to do. Even if they made the grenades and explosives stack 2 stacks per shot that would balance it out. It’s just weird that they would nerf everything in the name of balance and not think of making it far too low but then again, they don’t believe in using PTR’s. Sigh. smh

It’s really not just one kit they nerfed it’s all of them. The problems are much much deeper then that because of the weird missing that’s occurred since launch on this class.

They need to make the explosive radius bigger for everything because quite frankly it doesn’t extend out as far as my thief’s sword does and it definitely should. These are grenades we’re talking about here. Changing the physics because you want to nerf the class for pvp is not the right approach because it completely messes with pve.

This needs a rework on two things. Formula 409 makes cleaning conditions easier so change your potions out to other ones you can use. Elixir C is not needed. Use S or R instead especially since with R you can make a rez field just before dying so you can get back up right before being downed.

If this for pvp I would think being invis when immobilized would help more.

You guys should move on, there is still money to make in the game without having to break much of a sweat. I did and I feel better for it. We can all come back to it when things get back to normal

You do realize it’s not just the money, it’s also the mats to make legendaries, to gear alts up, to make globs readily available? Sure T6 items drop from bags now but that’s not the only material needed. And it’s completely beside the point of rewards for time spent not being high enough.

To all saying that you noticed loot may have gotten better, let me reassure you it did not. Check the Market. Prices are the same. If there were more rares that would have increased supply, thus prices would naturally fall.

We will have a better idea after the holiday since people arent really farming all that much now, but in over 8 hours of farming i have gotten 3-4 rares tops.

No changes.

That’s more then I’ve gotten in weeks. Where did they drop?

Oh and when i said T6 items were dropping I didn’t say it’s gotten better. That tiny aspect of the loot has, but we cannot build whole armor sets without globs of ecto which drop from rares and exotics and they know this. It’s not better no.

Once again, you missed the point…

WHICH IS:

Every patch they n-erf the engineer class.

It needs to stop.

But they buffed my tool kit? You’re forgetting other classes have been nerfed as well.

Not like this one not with results like actually denying people who play engineers content because people refuse to group with engineers. There’s a limit and it’s been reached. They fix all the underwater stuff, nerfed us to practically impossible play, meanwhile they ignored everything else. Juse because one is skilled in getting around the nerfs and misses doesn’t mean it’s not wrong of them. And doesn’t mean we shouldn’t unite asking for change.

I even stopped playing my Engi because it was too easy! everything was working and turrets actually was too strong so i just put them and win dungeon instantly.

Don’t forget how powerful that Mortar was! That thing lasts forever you know! It’s never taken out in three hits like those poor powerless Warriors are all the time. Poor devils.

Don’t listen to all the negativity, try something different, such as a Flamethrower build with Sigil of Air.

Tried that, no where near the dps of grenades. Oh and the mobs were hitting me.

With every consecutive nerf patch in a row, I’ve tried to adjust to the new standard. So I have no idea what to tell you. Grenades have been nerfed and miss all the time. Nades flight times/pistols/bombs timers before exploding are all entirely too slow on land (oddly they work as intended underwater go figure, you can actually throw grenades and put out bombs faster underwater who knew (someone should called the physics department at harvard.) FT/EG/torchpp all miss randomly especially when there are a ton of mobs on top of you no matter where your camera is and while you are covering them entirely with your weapon’s output. Rifles hardly do enough to be worth the slower caster speed.

So really what’s left at this point? Someone? Anyone?

So don’t bring an Engin to dungeons. Same thing. It’s not like you only have one character and the only thing you ever do in this game is run dungeons. If yes, then that’s your problem.

this is precisely the problem we dint buy the game to be told we had 8 classes to choose but had only 1 or 2 options if i wanted to enjoy the game.

Exactly the point, when does making this class weaker then the rest with horrible cast times, misses, and problems with skills carrying thru or hitting the enemy, when has that ever given anyone more options and then to spend all this time on a part of the combat that almost no one uses, underwater, is just stupid. What about the 99% of our other fights that happen on land? FT/EG/Torch STILL misses and it’s going on 4 months now. REALLY? seriously? but the underwater net was the priority huh?

So, tonight i got some T6 mats from the bags i got from level 80 zones. That’s nice. Now for the rares. None of the veterans or champions i killed since yesterday have dropped a single thing accept 1 grey 2 blues. Seriously this has gone on long enough.

Start reporting this everyone to the support site, maybe our voices in the support site will ge their attention since they ignore us completely here.

I have yet to see a rare again, the infamous grinch is in town keeping us from getting globs, and he’s in their offices over there. (points at Anet’s doors)

they did add some T6 items to bags you get from various Orrian Risen and Svanir in the north. They dropped some powerful blood and scales for me tonight right off the bat. Out of ten bags there were 3 items total.

at the current rate it’ll be two years before we see the patch that does this. here it is going on four months and we still haven’t seen the FT/EG/Torch miss bug get fixed yet. Yes it misses just as much as it ever did, it took me doing a few presents out in diessa plateau to figure that out the hard way. What was weird about this bug, is my sigils were the only things hitting the skritt even tho the FT said it was missing at the time. Who knew i could crit on a miss.

Do people here ever go and look at other class forums? Elementalists have been complaining about their damage and crap skills since day one. Yes, eles are versatile, but they certainly aren’t particularly stronger than Engineers in terms of dps and are much squishier.

Oh that’s funny. Yeah, they might wear toilet paper armor, but that doesn’t mean they can’t actually do serious damage with their fire spells without being a glass cannon, all we’re asking for is they use some common sense. Flamethrowers should never miss while covering the enemies in flames, bombs/grenades should have as much an explosive radius as my thief’s 1 hander gimme a break, the initial damage for poisons and bleeds should be en par with necros when one is traited for all condie damage. It’s not that difficult to compare numbers and adjust to match is it?

This cannot be by design. Seriously. It’s amazing that someone let this thru.

Just another glaring reason why we need a PTR before launching these patches.

Grenade Nerf Not That Bad

I’m so sick of people claiming that Flash Grenades and Poison Grenades doing damage somehow balanced the nerf out.

We lost 35% damage on a skill we use once per second, and gained damage (which is only 1/3 and 2/3 the damage of a skill 1 attack) on skills we use once every 10 and 25 seconds.

It doesn’t even come close to compensating.

It doesn’t at all! And the initial damage isn’t the same as other classes like oh say the necro’s marks. They blast all kinds of initial damage out before ticking yet we get that tiny damage and tiny tick like we dunno anything about chemical warfare or something. sheesh.

Oh and OP that doesn’t solve the issues at all with the smaller then a 1h sword explosion radius or the lack of a wider explosive radius when forceful explosions is traited. So yes it is that bad.

they also need to make the flight speed of grenades, the bomb timers before exploding, and the shot speeds from pistols faster so they match what they should be doing. Why is it my kits function properly underwater (fast cast speeds) but not on land?
