As a guy who plays all of the adventurer professions I have to say you are spot on, many of these traits should not be grandmaster traits at all
- like the 50% vigor, on a ranger that’s actually located as the FIRST mini trait you get for five points in their similar tree.
- mines and explosives have been so manipulated they now not only don’t explode at the range of the length of the sword my thief is using but they also get a smaller range suddenly when you trait the Forceful Explosives trait that’s supposedly supposed to increase the explosive range. /facepalm
- it would have been so much more useful to get a shield or a cloak when we decend instead of the explosions seeing as how they never work anymore anyways.
- Fireforged trigger and Elixir-Infused Explosives shouldn’t be in any other line other then those that directly affect the amount of toughness or healing one gets and EIE should not be a grandmaster trait, the master trait before it is completely useless for support imo.
- Armor mods don’t seem to do much. It should happen more often for longer periods of time and let me say that there’s some suspicious differences between the numbers between my thief who’s not built for condition damage and my engineer who is. The bleeds/poisons are so much more powerful per tick on my thief then on my engineer I have to wonder if when you messed with the engineer cond damage some time ago you did it as a per profession basis. It doesn’t make any sense that my thief is traited for burst damage and does so well but has higher DoT’s then my engineer who’s traited for cond damage but when i trait the bleeds burns longer burns and poison all at the same time to do these things, not only does the poison almost never go off, but the bleeds do nowhere near the same damage as my thief that isn’t even traited for that.
There’s too many fishy things going on with this class right now. There’s inconsistancies between even the adventurer professions trait lines and how they are laid out. It’s like another engineer said in another thread, this class wasn’t ready for launch and it’s still in it’s beta stage.

and STILL no answer. seriously? that many posts doesn’t warrant a “hi we’ve discovered the problem and will be fixing it soon” or the more likely “we screwed up (either in the business end or when trying to balance loot) and we’re sorry a fix will be soon” or even “expect a change Dec 14th” ?? Nothing at all huh….. smh
Justwhere and when butnot everything. Dont be a scrooge mc duck so early. Wait til its released and then see how much they gave away :p
I thought the same thing. Halloween had many of us trying to figure out where to go and what to do because it was so unlike other games of our past that it was completely a chore to figure things out and people weren’t so nice about it either.
I think it’s actually an improvement to do this this way so that we’ll know where to go at the very least and who to talk to in order to begin.
I was about to say, uhm I don’t typically wake up by then so they are also missing the crowd that doesn’t work with this one but if it lasts all day okay then.
Weird that they don’t have access to maces first really but yeah they did limit many of the classes on things they should have access to. And where are all the on land spear users? what happened to the troy-esc warrior/guardian/ranger type deals? What happened to the two handed hammer wielding engineer? or the dagger wielding mesmers?
It’s just very odd the things that were left out. Isn’t this supposed to be a game of choices?
yeah I definitely agree that they need to improve the support roles a bit, for example crit chance doesn’t affect heals in the slightest while in other games it does. Also things like the +healing on armor often doesn’t scale many of the abilities healers have.
The problem is, if they make crit chance work with heals, Bunker guardian will essentially become unstoppable in SPvP. I think it’s a cool idea, and that they could implement it, just not sure exactly how they would do so without breaking more things than they fix.
Uhm guardians/warriors near impossible to kill anyway? Well that just means they have some serious balancing to do is all, harming healers of every other class won’t fix the issues with this game.
It’s the same for dps. Two classes can 1 shot right now. Do you think that’s fair too? or do you think like I do that they should balance that as well by giving all of the other classes the ability to do preparatory abilities to one shot as well or remove those one shot abilities entirely.
Making the mechanics of the game function properly like crit chance, won’t break the game, leaving the things in this game that make it near impossible to play breaks the game.
Before starting this, I understand the concept of a Legendary Weapon and its rarity….
However, spending a fortune on greatswords for the MF is insane. There has to be a better way to reward a players hard work than by chance.
As for me, I’m done buying gems and supporting a bad mechanic.
Legendary weapons should not depend on chance in any way form or fashion…hard work should be the only deciding factor.
Same goes for the Mystic Clover mat. I think many players would agree, they would be willing to work hard for a Legendary weapon…Take chance out of the equation.
I actually completely agree with you. They need to restore the reward from hard work mechanic to the game. They had it at launch. If you didn’t want to spend money on gems you could spend hours farming for the things you needed in open world and eventually get the items you wanted by not only building up the mats but also leveling the crafting to get there. Same went for legendaries. One could earn one not by running the same dungeon all the time for the only place to get mats but by doing multiple tasks to obtain one.
We actually used to get exotics and sometimes precursors from Dragon fights. It’s not like that anymore and it’s tiresome. Sure those fights aren’t that difficult now that most people can figure out what they are about and how to work around the attacks but still it’s ridiculous to expect people to keep playing a game where there isn’t a single reward worth the time anymore.
I want:
- loot levels to be restored to what they were at launch and not this garbage heap we get now
- real balance otherwise they can rename this game Guild Warriors 2
- horizontal progression for ascended gear to be focused on the real crafting of this game and not the mystic toilet
- engineer pve class to be completely fixed by the end of the month. (seriously they’ve had three months to fix this class) which includes but isn’t limited to the restoration of cond damage, tab targeting for #1 grenades, and faster cast times for grenades, bombs, and pistols.
You do realise that “wasting” 40 Silver to switch between maxed profession is kind of the point? It’s a Gold Sink.
If you don’t like it, use another character to do that craft.
Exactly what I was thinking, I’m not switching I made a third toon.
yeah I definitely agree that they need to improve the support roles a bit, for example crit chance doesn’t affect heals in the slightest while in other games it does. Also things like the +healing on armor often doesn’t scale many of the abilities healers have.
(I play support engineer quite a few problems with no scaling no crit healing)
It’s already a struggle to help kill things while playing a support role for many classes why make it even harder by not allowing scaling and crit to affect healing.
You can spec right all you want but if the classes don’t work they way the game’s mechanics were intended then why have them in there at all? Right now +healing only affects like two abilities out of the large number of heals the engineer has as an example. I’m pretty sure this prolly happens in other classes as well.
One of the biggest problems for healers in other games was keeping themselves alive because there was an aggro table for healing. This occurs in this game constantly yet the regens and traits to keep oneself alive for support roles don’t work anywhere near as well as the Unicorn build for thieves, a class that has no real support role. They definitely need to look into it.
Could you possibly post your build? Would be thankful.
I would like to see your build gear choices rune choices and weapons.
That would be awesome to try this out.
stealth is actually broken right now, even mobs who use their spells can see thieves while stealthing in the middle of a channel.
AOE to bring someone out of stealth isn’t going to fix anything all it will do is make yet another class unplayable and that won’t solve anything it will make less people play.
The only solution is to make the spells that cause immobilize not a channel but an instant cast spell. Orr enemies do that to me all the time on every toon I have and it seems to work for them in trying to keep me from moving.
Unfortunately for them I won’t set foot in Orr without my engi having the stealth when immobilized trait nor will I set foot in Orr without my long stealth on my thief now.
In pvp I can imagine how frustrating that is.
But the true balance issues don’t really involve stealth right now. From my perspective they have only two classes that can burst damage 1 shot enemies and that’s not balanced at all.
If they want balance they need to make that type of attack available to everyone or not at all.
I know the feeling well, being Elixir build too for PVE.
Video is perfect, by the way.
I thought it was appropriate LOL Love the videos these guys put out.
The thing is the potions thing is just too underpowered now, the enemies hardly do enough damage to themselves compared to what they do to you while you are defending yourself like with shields n such. The increased defense from toughness doesn’t really help kill anything, and now that conds are nerfed solely for this class (yes I play others so I know the difference) there just really isn’t a good combo anymore.
Even when having all points in explosives it doesn’t do anything close to what the other classes experience so we end up guzzling pots all day trying to survive.
Yeah killed Jormag yesterday and it dropped 6 blues and green armor upgrade LOL!
same here. I did two dragons (couldn’t get to the third before it ended) they both dropped hardly anything worth mentioning.
Remember when these dropped exotics? WOW has THAT changed.
Anyone have any idea who does the testing before they release a patch so that there might be a hint of what’s coming? Many people are asking what they are planning to do for dec 14th. If there will be fixes involved for both the classes and loot issues.
Any word?
It’s a big big problem there are countless posts on this not only do we have to manually calculate how much we have but we also have to figure out if it’s working. It never works for me, in fact the higher my mf goes the worse the drops that occur until eventually no matter if i’m fighting the same mobs or not or even in a 80 zone, my drops become porous bones.
It’s weird. I think they broke this on purpose to make it even more impossible to farm items we need to get the mats we need to craft end game items.
There’s a post on the loot issues
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Change-in-loot-parameters-or-a-bug-Merged
it’s their own link but copy paste it if you need to go there to post.
It’s not just mf it’s loot drops in general, it’s money drops, it’s chests not giving anything but blues, it’s chests not being affected by mf, it’s vets and champions not dropping a thing other then greys or blues. It’s just all messed up the whole thing. Anyway many of us have vowed loudly to not log back in until they fix this issue as you can see by the thread it’s very old topic.
Oh and just to clarify. The myth that it’s simply bad luck doesn’t work when the algorithm they are using for drops can be manipulated +- on a whim.
The sparks spawn while the Cathedral of Zephros (in ML) is uncontested. Fortunately it is not super difficult. I have opened that temple with as few as 4-5 people before. Then you get 2 hours of farm time.

Do you have an answer for Onyx lodestones? Like your own experience of them dropping?
I’ve used what people have suggested on websites with no success. I went to ML and killed countless elementals with nothing.
Did you use mf, if so how much, if not what did you use?
Thanks.
Good Luck OP. I hope you find a game that suits your playstyle.
Rift is doing a very good job of scaleable/soloable dungeons, maybe a free trial is worth a look for you.
Rift have soloable dungeons? What did you smoke? oO
Rift had personal dungeons. They were easy, short, and there were only like…4 or 5, but they were there.
Rift had personal dungeons, even WoW had to give in to this demand or lose players because not everyone can be on at the same time for 5 mans or raids. It’s just impossible so they added a system of smaller dungeons. I think the first ones to do it out of a AAA title tho was possibly LOTRO tho that’s complete conjecture on my part not knowing if some other lobby dungeon-only vertical progression AAA title before LOTRO did this or not.
It’s part of what we saw go wrong for SWTOR even with lfg there just wasn’t enough people.
It’s also why many people flocked to this game because:
- it was supposed to be all about open world events rather than dungeons
- dungeons were supposed to be a fun alternative side play not the focus
- dungeons were supposed to not have gear that trumps the gear in open world
- dungeons weren’t supposed to have all of the drops rather then the open world
I think unless something changes we’ll see more people drop off of this title until they get the message at HQ that people don’t like to be manipulated nor do we like to play games that don’t reward us for our time and there always should be a series of solo-able activities end game for those of us who log in at odd times when there aren’t enough people to do much. The bulk of my guild only gets on on weekends for example, I am disabled and can’t work, so what do I have to do, play games browse the net all day, so what happens when I can’t progress? I guess the point is this game was supposed to be all about choices…
(edited by tigirius.9014)
rampagers emblazoned for damage
the various karma pieces that have + healing for support
Runes of the Flock on my support gear
Runes of the citadel on my damage gear
Need Runes of the Ogre. Tried to get some onyx lodestones, forget it, it’s actually easier to find a job in this economy then getting those stones to drop and sadly I only need six.
More then that, because there are so many bugs and because we’ve been nerfed (the idea to nerf the one class that doesn’t do much damage as it is) there doesn’t seem to be much reason to play one.
Sure people will make arguments that oh you can be a very skilled player to get around those bugs and if you knew what you were doing the bugs wouldn’t affect your gameplay but that’s actually not true. The bugs that are present now affect every build.
It’s literally impossible to play this class in anything other then WvW at this point. Have you tried soloing something in Orr for example?
I have I’m decced out in exotics and still I can’t three shot anything. It’s ridiculous.
if they activated guesting for zones (not just dungeons or personal stories)
if they fixed the loot issues
if they balanced the dungeons
if they fixed the problems that make some classes impossible to play
if they’d make the rewards for killing vets champs and finding treasure rares and higher
if they’d make crafting the focus
if they’d make ascended horizontally obtainable
if they’d focus on making new meta events instead of dungeons
they’d restore much of what they damaged over the past two months.
Nothing is, and as this game flounders and WoW marches on people I think are seeing that vertical progression is still the way to go
Why would we need ANOTHER direct clone of WoW? Every single game that tried to replicate them was a failure (in terms of how many people are playing it, not quality). GW2 should stay away from trying to combat WoW head-on. Compared to other MMO releases from previous years, GW2 is actually not doing that bad in terms of game activity. Does activity falls? Yes it does. Same as every other game minus pre-WotLK WoW. Even WoW activity in Pandaria drops down hard after initial weeks of new expansion hype. If you really want to have a nice gear threadmill, by all means, go and play WoW. I know I would. But I want to play GW2 becouse I want to AVOID the gear threadmill. It is also why I hope they will limit their ideas with the new ascended gear.
We wouldn’t and that’s where he’s wrong. We don’t need another direct WoW clone or any other clone for that matter.
Here let me answer him:
- Dunno why he thinks elitism doesn’t happen saw it looooooong before fractals. (you must be level 80 and in all exotics to go into AC with us)
- sooo let’s see, you want everyone to be glass cannons in a game that’s specifically designed to one shot glass cannons, how does that help again?
- it only allows for one play style, dungeoneering, nothing else there is no room for anything else. nothing open world nothing. That is the only thing that needs arguing and yes you can have a guild that does nothing but, but this game wasn’t designed for that originally was it.
- yes it does make you less than, and here’s how, they put content into dungeons (or will be if they maintain this mess) that only geared people can see. Let’s see who else did that… (taps temple) oh yes EVERY game that’s ever had raids! see how that works, it’s called reality.
- Why did you say that about crafting? that has nothing to do with why vertical progression is part of the bigger problem. Crafting in this game rocks (aside from the globs making rares thing in jeweler) It’s actually fun to level. Once you get there tho the end game items you can make become pretty useless because almost everything worth the price of admission are all mystic forge based. Seriously, look it up there are mystic forge weapons that are sooooo much better looking with the same mats that pretty much leave in the dust anything they have in the crafts. Vertical esc-que dungeoneering RNG systems do not enhance crafting in any way.
Why do people think that what would make this game more successful is the very thing that destroyed games like SWTOR?
Leveling is so not the issue.. the issue is not being able to gear your alts at end game. It’s ridiculous. Nothing drops in the one dungeon they wanted us to do endless due to the age old and tired RNG system.
They turned the drops to trash in the open world, i mean really Skritt get better drops then the players do now. Can’t farm for anything thanks to DR, can get any higher drops to drop thanks to the broken mf, can’t get anything good from vets or champs or chests that you have to kill a champion or vet to get to even in orr. There is no longer any reward for playing. Seriously nothing. So why login.
So I took a break and when I came back cities are ghost towns and WvW queues are instant. When I quit there were tons of people at the crafting areas and by the banks and the WvW queues took hours. While its nice getting instant queues Im just wondering why I dont see anyone in cities anymore when there used to be people everywhere.
They reduced the loot to trash drops, broke magic find, made it all about dungeons and nothing else, caused many classes to be unplayable by the growing bugs that never seem to get fixed, and told us everything was fine don’t worry about it.
We’re either waiting to see if they fix the problems or completely disgusted and leaving the game that’s where everyone’s gone at this point.
Yeah I logged in tonight to try to get the elusive Onyx Lodestones. 11 g to buy them 22 for the runes of the ogre.
Not logging in until they fix this, not spending a dime until they fix this.
Serious big buyers remorse for this game right now. I cannot tell you how much this kind of greed disgusts me.
Someone I won’t name who did the research, apparently the financial director from Nexon was put in place to “assist” in the game’s design in June. Ever since then, we’ve had DR, lower drops, mysterious drop rate lowering of globs of ectoplasm, 0 communication 0 replies and a vague “investigation” into the problem a week old with no reports of the results or the plans on how to fix it.
I won’t be logging back in until they fix this. I’ll be watching the news sites to see if anything pops up from this but I can tell you I like many others am not happy about this game right now, not in the slightest.
- quick bug fixes
- great balance in pve (notably no bugs/nerfs preventing a primarily dps class from soloing)
- easily farmed crafting loot
- easy ways to make decent money
- in game drops of keys for chests/special items usually found in stores.
- relevant crafting
— which all leads to having fun because when you don’t have to think about those things or spend time wondering “what in blazes the devs were thinking when they did that” or wondering how you are going to afford things you need (not want need like runes for your armor to complete it or even the exotic armor itself) then you can spend the rest of the time having fun with your friends without harming their progress in things like dungeons etc.
I still don’t understand why DR still exists.
I was under the impression it was there to combat bots, but now that most of the bots are gone, why do we still need DR?
To me it seems bots were only part of the reason DR exists otherwise they would’ve removed it by now.
The problem is we’ll never get an answer from ANet, they’re all hush hush when it comes to game dynamics such as this.
It really is quite simple, in terms of the direction the game has taken since the June NCsoft shares buyout, and the concurrent installment of Nexon’s (the new 15% shareholder) monetization manager into ArenaNet.
DR, character-bound dyes, and especially the reduced loot drops from mobs, chests, etc, directs and promotes player traffic to the gem store. Gems purchased with real world funds are turned into gold to cover inflated TP prices due to scarcity of desired and required materials, due to the aforementioned restrictions.
This has been Crystin’s task since she was placed into ArenaNet in June, and hence why we are now feeling the effects of NCsoft’s financial problems.
And unfortunately, now that the inroads have been made, this is just the beginning.
I agree that’s how it appears to me as well.
If this continues I won’t be playing much longer. I refuse to spend money like that.
It disgusts me every time I login and try to get anything now. I tried farming for onyx lodestones of which I only need 6 because I unlike many others can make my own superior runes of the ogre.
It would take 11 gold to buy the stones 22 to buy the runes.
It’s just not worth it.
Sorry I wanted to enjoy your game and I thought you actually understood and supported players like me.
I won’t be logging in again until they fix this.
My least favorite is the Asura. Everything else was great imo.
- elitism
- demands for gearscore, dps meters just to do normal content
- breaking up the community
- adding a caste system to a game
- requiring people play dungeons only to progress
- making crafting systems even more useless after working all that time to reach max
shoulkittenep going? I have more….
okay weird. someone needs to update the language filter because typing s h o u l d I
k e e p should not be considered a curse word.
just tried it at 8:14 pm EST no patch here either. It would be exciting to see if this was the magical fairy class fixing patch we’ve all been trying to get for a long time now. Especially in the case of engineers everywhere so we can actually play again. (something other then WvW or support in PVE that is).
uhm no.
The new subs would not only not go to the future development of the game, but it would most likely go directly into the pockets of the stock holders (such as Nexon) who already are suspected in having entirely too much control over the creative process.
17 years of mmo history proves that this is not a good idea especially now that they have other issues that will most likely soon affect the number of players they have now if not corrected soon, if you require a sub for those things, then the number of subscribers becomes a mandatory thing to keep the game going and could drastically affect costs of expansions as well as cause serious support issues far worse then what was experienced at launch.
The result is that Engineers are kittened in the hands of the average player.
The Engineer class should come with the following warning:
Engineer: Fun class, potentially very powerful if you have the aptitude and dedication to master it, but underpowered in the hands of average players. Not recommended for noobs.
This is actually not the case in pve. The case in PVE is that engineer should come with this warning.
Engineer: Fun class, underpowered, especially noticable in level 80 zones like Orr. Don’t bother until they fix it because you won’t be able to play as anything but WvW or Support in pve.
The problems with this class aren’t due to lack of skill because EVERYone can go online and do the exact same thing as the other person is doing and still have the glaring problems that make this class unplayable by many right now.
To put it simply, your argument would only be valid if:
- Builds on this game were extremely complicated.
- Everything was working as intended.
One of the biggest globs of data in support for my argument happened on Nov 15th. Where the very same kits on land work entirely differently underwater.
They actually work as intended underwater for the most part. (Forceful explosives bug aside)
There is a significant damage increase for the same abilities underwater much higher then the land versions of all the kits, the cond damage ratios is definitely at least twice what it is on land, and the behaviors for kits are so much faster underwater then on land.
All of the fixes to engineers on Nov 16th were focused for underwater problems.
Another one fix they added to underwater that NEVER seems to work right on land, is the cone attacks particularly the one from the EG.
If engineers didn’t have these bugs on land, they would be playable and normalized. Skill to work around these issues has absolutely nothing to do with the problems they have inflicted on this class and it’s players for months now by neglecting it.
Engineer is fine and definitely not the worst class. Just many bugs, not working skill’s and a horrible scaling pistol 1. The rifle is not underpowered in my opinion!
Can you use a set of skills to one shot anything? Yeah, it’s underpowered until they allow all classes the ability to do what the warrior and the thief can do.
That’s the whole point. If they truly were interested in balance this would be a non-issue.
Equal burst potential =/= balance?
Uh yeah it does, it’s called all classes can spec to do the same things. That’s balance. Just because people who solely play one single class or maybe play the only two that can burst instakill disagrees doesn’t make it any less true.
because quite frankly by the time I finish killing anything that’s what it feels like.
they have some serious work to do right now because they’ve neglected giant bugs since launch and need to re-allocate their focus to fix many of them that are preventing this game from even being a casual experience.
there are serious imbalance issues where they might as well call this game Guild Warriors 2 because it seems that’s the only class they want us to actually play and be successful at easily.
There are loot issues that haven’t even been commented on.
There are bugs in the classes on some of them have been since before launch that WERE reported that were never patched and some of these classes have even gotten worse because new bugs have popped up since then making these classes even more difficult to play.
It’s just bad time/priority management really.
And most of what you’ll see is end game references, you wouldn’t experience many of these things until you reach level 80. Up until that point the game is fine.
For the loot thing it’s like they are particularly interested in punishing people for reaching level 80.
Flamethrower #5 used to be another (much better) skill called Backdraft.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Backdraft
It was changed at some point in beta into the terrible placeholder skill that Smoke Vent is presently. Hopefully they’ll change this again at some point, because presently it’s an abysmal #5.
Yeah i noticed this, it was crazy awesome. especially for cond damage builds.
I wish they had left this one in, because if they had the enemies would die long before they had a chance of doing damage vs the tiny .00000001 second blind we get now.
So I was just thinking, how sad it is that I have to go farm items i need on my thief because the sword/pistol combo actually keeps me from dieing every second, they actually hit multiple enemies usually ones that are literally outside the normal reach of any weapon save spears, and how they do enormous damage.
It must be nice to have full support from the devs on other classes to actually be able to hit multiple enemies even tho they are not using dangerous explosives or flamejets, and how it must be great to be able to actually be able to play their classes in other builds without worrying over if their main weapon choices will work or not.
If the glaring problems aren’t fixed on the 14th what will the rest of you do will you log out and not touch this game until the fix it? I’m planning on it. Seriously, and I’ve been called a fanboy every time i posted anything prelaunch because of what the initial research into what this game was supposed to be like showed, and now I’ve literally thought about going back the horrible elephant in the room because I cannot play the class I want to play do to the severe miss, explosion size, and loot issues on this class it’s immensely aggravating not being able to play effectively.
I personally would like to see more medium armor geared towards engineers. Right now all the skins seem to look like something a rogue or a ranger would wear. Something more akin of a military outfit or with more utility seems appropriate.
Absolutely agree, thought that myself a number of times even the stuff from karma vendors looks like something a thief would be wearing instead of an engineer.
And I am one of the multitude that hates dungeon running (which is what attracted people like me to this title because it was supposed to be an afterthought not the main source of armor) so yeah please don’t suggest this to any of us. It’s insulting.
I’d just like to add can we get someone from the dev department to varify that this will be fixed in the upcoming patch it’s really starting to get annoying that there are only two builds now for anything and the rest are iffy at best for if they will function.
Seriously when it takes 30 grenades to kill mobs in pve there’s something wrong. (typically for me it’s 3 nades per throw, ten throws) the miss thing is getting out of hand now. not only is it in all cone attacks two weapons rely on that the most are ft/eg but now it seems that everything is having that issue.
Even bombs now don’t work because of the new forceful explosives bug, while underwater I have to literally get right on top of the fish (who move btw to get back into a melee esc position constantly) just to kill anything. It’s ridiculous. It happens on land as well but not as noticably.
I guess what I’m trying to say is I’d really REALLY like to play my engineer again..thanks.

This would have told you instantly if you could run the game on your rig.
Not a waste of money btw they have a great refund policy and customer service.
Hmm can’t follow your link…
P/S builds are viable but will never deal great damage since all main hand pistols aren’t firing as fast as they’re supposed to right now. Explosive shot is pretty good for tagging lots of mobs in events, though. And P/S is good for bunkers in tournaments. Not sure I’d want it for solo PvE or WvW.
Website has an issue with direct links if you copy paste them they work or if the posters of these links used the [ url ] commands on this site they would be able to make some text they type a link GO HERE
WOW I was mistaken it’s even worse then before. Now the code for the website won’t work on GW2 forums. they seriously need to look at this if this isn’t working too. smh

Can you use a set of skills to one shot anything? Yeah, it’s underpowered until they allow all classes the ability to do what the warrior and the thief can do.
That’s the whole point. If they truly were interested in balance this would be a non-issue.
The population consist of 80% warriors, 10% guardians, and 10% the other classes. It is absolutely normal to see a lot of 5 signet warriors.
Riiiight because it’s absolutely normal to have 80% of one single op class in any title. sigh.
Just add it to the long list of things we used to be able to find as players now we never see a thing.
It’s like why have chests in the game if they are not affected by magic find, they never drop anything above a green and there’s never any gold to speak of.
What we’re just supposed to believe that the giant champion whatnot had 1 quarter and 64 pennies? Really?
Why is it the most militant of classes can’t one shot when we specialize in firearms, explosives, napalm, chemical weapons, and high voltage electricity????
why would it make sense >>
A Ele raining down Meteors should one hit everything then since its a freaking meteor(wich btw can destroy Earth)
this game is not made to make sense
its to have fun, every class apart from ranger kinda is balanced
you can’t have fun if it takes 30 grenades to kill one mob or 26 bullets to kill another from a pistol. It’s not an exaggeration. Play an engineer you’ll see what I’m talking about.
And that’s not the point the point is if they are making it possible to one or two shot in one class they should do that for all classes. end of story. no more arguing, it’s done. end of line. Fair is fair and when they create an imbalance like this it might as well be Guild Warriors 2 because that’s what this game is going to turn into.
There seems to be some irony in leaving a giant like Blizzard behind for the freedom to take new directions, only to end up at the last behooven to the crudity of rapid monetization…
Amazing. Didn’t even think about that one. The very thing he and others were desperately trying to escape coming along and sweeping through their creation anyway.
Warning: LONG RESPONSE incoming. Propbably a boring (skippable) read for most people. OP, I think it will answer your question.
I think GW2 has done a good job at making survival everyne’s own priority and minimzied the trinity without eleminating the need to work together.
However, players can still have a significant role through trait and rune choices in the game more than they realize.
The vast majority of individuals expeirment with a very few set of runes and sigils, as these tend to maximize dps. That’s fine that DPS is their priority – just know that with rune and sigil choices you can do a lot of life-saving in your party if you’re ok losing some DPS.
For example, using the rune of Dwayna puts regeneration on your party every time you heal yourself. A water attunement elementalist can have this effect also cure conditions on everyone through a trait that benefits from the rune effect.
My point is, to step outside the box and be a support/tanking/utility character in this game, it is very possible – you just have to learn to synergize trait choices with runes and sigils.
All this being said, I find that, in one way, their de-emphasis of the trinity has the negative side effect of concealing support players even more. Players like you and I, with a “healer” mindset or a mindset of supporting others do so at the cost of DPS – which is fine; But support in this game is often an invisible or unnoticed act, which make people really unaware that you’re helping them most of the time.
For example, in the scenario I gave above (water attune elementalist using Dwayna runes), I can keep the party topped off and free of conditions, yet there is no way my teamates know when I am helping them or not. In my guild this is fine because they know my role and they appreciate me; however, when I pug, I have sometimes been perceived as a lower dps/sucky player and been told so.
Another example is that I’ve been told by guildies “man I like partyin with you, we seem to die less.” When I explained to them that I am keeping regen on them 100% of the time and protection boon on them 80% of the time, they were completely unaware I was granting these things. I don’t need an award or anything for doing my support job. I simply wish there were signs that I was helping them (example., beside the green floating text above your head that says the value you’re healed for, perhaps it could include the name of the person who gave that heal.)
To get the feeling you desire, you’re going to have to find a smaller group of people (guild, friends, etc.) that you play with on a regular basis and who know what your role is. When doing dynamic events and pvp with strangers, you can cast every boon on the game on all the random folks around you but they have no obvious way of knowing you’re the one doing it; they won’t be likely to protect you so that you can heal them andthey won’t stand by you for being a good healer. This is because they usually don’t even know you’re doing anything.
it’s not their fault either; they just have no visual indication in most cases who is helping them.
In sum, the biggest part of the trinity loss isn’t that we lose the role of being support; Support in GW2 has a significant impact on the outcome of battles… but there is simply no visual event on the screen that lets people know you are helping them most of the time.
Edited for spelling.
Absolutely agree, the game I came from was so hard on healers. But one thing they did do well was make it important to have them and to get credit for the heals with the name of the healer next to the number healed.
Also, I’d like to point out as a healer engineer that while most classes don’t really reveal they are helping my class definitely does. I can put two AOE healing fields down similtanously and my regen fields are always very loud and visual. Can’t miss em. Also, the condition curing effect of my healing turret is very explosive, so while other classes are subtle about it engineers are very in your face.
