if dragons can’t corrupt other dragons wouldn’t it make sense that mordremoth would skip the areas that jormag has a lot of control in, if I was mordremoth I’d just skip the norn so they have less reason to fight me so I can more easily dispatch the other races, I likeep that they are also trying to align all the races to, zhaitan was beat by the pact but he never got access to the ley lines so it would make sense that they need a lot more power to fight mordremoth.

anet should nerf lich, it’s not fair that i can’t counter play it because of its long duration, and when it ends and I try to burst them they just use death shroud to eat all my damage. they should also nerf corrupt boon since my engineer can’t not use an elixir that puts multiple boons on my unless I don’t want to use my 2 most defensive traitlines, while they are at it nerf signet of spite since I can’t clear all the conditions it applys.

2, stack speed by its intensity up to 50%, not duration.

2 is impossible because the max speed buff is 33% for all classes and rune combinations

Just wanna say thief moves 50% faster while in stealth traited.

Edit: ele and engi can run at 100% or double speed traited

no activate super speed it caps at the max speed, this means if you cripple or chill we still only move at max speed, I’m not sure but this also counts as out of combat speed not combat speed, which is okay seeing as how viable taking git actually is.

I didn’t watch it but something no one but me and my buddy’s have caught on to is 2 2/0/6/4/2 celestial strength engineers bk/tk/eg, all active condition remove is aoe so there Condi removal is doubled and using super elixir properly with healing bombs is 1k+ aoe healing and blasting with double healing turrets makes for huge aoe heals, they stack 25 might have huge power and condition damage which stack greatly with bombs and they can cc train better then warriors, lets just say that nothing can sit on a point when you have 2 of these engineers on the field, the condition stacking can go threw the roof, if they focus a target you can expect an easy 25 confusion and 10-15 bleeds and burning very quickly and cc train any thing that tries to get out of it, I don’t tpvp much so I havnt figured out the best team comp to run with 2 of these engineers but I’m assuming it would be engi/engi/staff ele/thief/warrior and just make sure the ele and engineers are allways together and no matter the field they should be able to control the point with the warrior and thief controlling home and far when they need something to do.

your definitely going to need to take cleansing formula in wvw since you have low mobility one condo bomb and it would be all over for you but don’t worry you will get that damage back when the patch hits, I’d also focus trying to replace those trinkets with celestial which is so good with amight stacking engineer. other then that it’s pritty standard and in the right direction.

You can run EG/FT even more so now since they are op as crap in trait synergy.

And I love the fact that you can FT4->EG4->FT2 and you get 2 dot on the gound, and 2 blasts on the fire field. it will be ALOT of damage.

technically if you have reduced cds then you can get easily get 3 blasts on the fire field 4 if you try really hard

Lots of engi builds already anti thief.

the difference being you can run away from most builds if you screw up, a static discharge engineer will just magnet and 1 shot, assuming your unaware he is there, you could just as easily do the same to him if you see him first.

as an engineer I can say that utility goggles will only work on glass cannon builds, this won’t be a win button for the engineer, think of it like a necro, if you run into a necro with no condition cleanse and then eat corrupt boon/spite/fear your probly going to die and that’s your own fault, run into a glass engi and don’t take counter measures to avoid the burst and you going to die, however if you dodge that skill and his burst which isn’t to hard you will most likely win, so it’ll will be more of a who can out play who situation, so don’t take this to heavy as a nerf since it will technically be a l2p issue in the sense that you can win if you bait it out of him and he will win if you aimlessly try to burst him down, that said I’m looking forward to using it against thiefs with a full glass cannon build I just love those 2 second fights that comes completely down to player skill and timing.

Your not seeing the big pic here. In group play that skill will be an I win button against thiefs. Only takes 1 sec if focus for a thief to die.

in a team fight how much utility will an engineer lose just to potentially counter you? we all know kits bring heaps of team utility and hes just lost some to counter you and only you, be ready to teleport out if he gets you with it and your team has gained an small advantage.

All professions can build for dps, tank, healer, survival, roaming, point holder, decap, etc. (whether they are efficient at it is a different issue)

Having different game modes would only shift the problem slightly.
The truth is that some professions while excelling at something are also better than others in many ways and are more flexible, leaving weaker classes to struggle. Also, those professions seems to be more user friendly and require less effort to achieve what others have to fight hard to obtain.

In other words yes, more game modes would be welcome for they would promote more builds diversity. However they wouldn’t solve balance issues, which is the main concern for a pvp-centric game such as gw2 is

let me reword what i said, i hate when some one runs a build and dosent use it properly or in the right situations, not because the build is bad they just arnt using it properly, and for example a bunker guardian trying to kill a bunker guardian solo on the far point rather then helping the team.

as for build diversity and game modes, a better variety of game modes means a alot more viable builds, more viable builds means people are happier to accept current conquest meta builds because they get more options in how they can play, how many builds do you know are great for just duking it out that dont work in conquest?

id like to see launch personal battering ram get its cast time removed so i can take it over rifle turret, sure if they did that then you could take rifle turret pbr and toolkit and get more damage in your burst but no stun breaker or (and this has been insanely good for fighting thiefs in tpvp) immunity to blind.

I like to go into wvw with full clerics melandru runes sigil of energy and 0/0/4/6/4 with the food and trait setup to get 97% reduction to cripple chill and immob, the stealth trait and as much stealth as I can get threw utilities and the find thiefs and never ever stop following them since they can never kill me because I just reset the fight if I need to.

lets see, hmmmm possible buff to turrets to promote build diversity.
cleaning formula made adept to help with condition removal.
hobosacks can now be toggled off(bugged and doesn’t work for a year), or hobo sacks size doubled so people can more easily predict what kit we are in.
incendiary powder can only work when in elixir x form.
rocket boots no longer changes direction when hitting pebbles(bugged for a year throws you out of the map).

i run into there turrets and drop acid bomb on as mnany as i can then i run around them spamming bomb auto attack it takes out the turrets pritty fast and your healing is enough to make sure you come out of it unscathed, if your worried about the turrets ccing you when you kill them just dodge roll away from them and let the dodge roll bomb get the last hit to kill them so you are no longer in the way, then just use your superior amount of utility to easily dispatch a turretless engineer, your also extremely handy in team fights since you can put down heaps of healing/CC/condition damage and when you use your combos correctly you can easily burst down not so bunker classes, your also much more effective defending a point then the typical turret engineer.

There are so many variables that you have to consider when it comes to balance (especially in this game/the conquest game mode) before saying that something that can sit on a point and deal damage is “unbalanced”.

There’s power damage, condi damage, burst damage, ranged damage, melee damage, AoE Damage, direct support, hard cc, soft cc, mobility, sustain through healing, sustain through toughness/vitality, condition volume, condition cleanse, condition application rate, invuln periods (which count as sustain in a way), stealth, EVADES, etc etc etc etc.

When you talk about class balance within the conquest game mode you have to consider the number variables/assets/detriments existing within each class/build and how they can lead to a teams ultimate success or downfall. Also, you have to consider how much counter play there are to these abilities/features and form and argument about how it could be changed to better improve the game.

Seriously… Think hard, play pvp ALOT, and form a legitimate argument before coming on the forums and crying about game balance. The majority of what is said/discussed hear is mind bogglingly boring, useless, and non-insightful.

Seriously, don’t come on here and criticize others when you play a warrior. Obviously you aren’t going to have a problem with balance. We get it. Warriors think their class is completely balanced.

Nice, if you read my post with both your eyes this time you’ll realize that I didn’t actually discuss the balance of my main class nor any of the classes in the game. I simply mentioned that others should try to consider the variables when it comes to class design/game balance and then bring up a supported point that people can discuss intelligently and build on.

However, it’s probably not worth your time considering you can just pull the ‘you play warrirox they have a hammer nerf bunker dmg’ (Even though it is COMPLETELY non-relevant to the original post) rather than actually think about asymmetric balance and class design within the game mode.

Don’t worry though, your post is super smart and the devs will definitely come here and read it. Maybe they’ll put it on the fridge.

Just kidding, the devs don’t come here. Make a change and stop contributing to the BS cluttering these forums, and maybe it might be worth 15 minutes of their day to check in.

I think people would also notice that those 1v1 side point defenders also arnt as good in a fight that is more then 2 people since there sustain and damage is ment for small encounters not mid team fights, while they still do bring something good to the fight its not as effective as a dedicated role for the team.

if you cant afford strength runes get hoelbrak runes, cant afford them? get alturism, dont have celestiel available? just go full soldiers with knights runes, it works alot better then it should with full soldiers which is odd but when you hit a 8k nade barrage with no crits you realize it has some secret hidden power, its good for someone new to wvw since its easy to use and rather forgiving, but dosent have fantastic mobility so remember that if you use it.

for example your opponent has 1 stack of suppression and tryst to use a sigil of battle and instead of giving the might stacks it removes the suppression condition.

you could run hgh hybrid, 6/2/0/6/0 strength battle energy/geomancy/whatever celestial amulet nades elixirs h/b/s nades and rifle, I use it when I go to the dueling rooms and mop people up, really good warriors and necros are the only thing that can beat it, warrior’s have to be zerker and not screw up and necros have to use there kitten properly or you can clear everything and burst them down pritty fast.

turret engineer is in a good spot atm, a great spot id say, as it is its weak for top tier game play and for casual it just eats up pugs, those pugs really do need to L2P so keep having fun, my only issue is those darn pirate runes, i got chased down by 4 birds last night and was like the kitten lololol, mind you i survived and my team managed to get the point, but that many birds was just troll to the max.

Turrets in TPVP: From AI to Player triggered

Why should builds that constantly keep the user in a low risk situation, while putting the opponent constantly in a high risk situation, while requiring little thought and little reflexes even exist?

Because they don’t. Unless you genuinely think that turrets put you into a high-risk situation instead of the engineer, and then… well… yeah.

They do in 1v1s and 2v2s unless you have hard counters to the turret build (like staff ele). ANet has stated in their recent ready up that they don’t want to have hard counters existing, though we all know they still do.

so technically if you were to take a staff ele to fight a turret engineer, and I’d like to remind you that you did say that a staff ele is a hard counter to a turret engineer, would that be high risk for the engineer.

it really feels like atm that people are complaining that they have to run a counter to something and they don’t want to so that’s unfair.

That’s disappointing.

Thanks for the speedy response, however.

Is really disappointing indeed, but there is something more about this trait.

You see when you use it drinking the elixir it gives the 2 stacks of might but when you throw it you get only 1 stack of might with all elixirs but the healing skill.
I’ve reported this as a bug since in the skill description you can clearly see two stacks and not one.
Is this also working as intented or just another bug?

I believe the reasoning for this is so engineers cannot stack 20+ might solo just from elixirs and force’s us to take other things like a sigil of battle and certain runes to get those high might stacks, it balances out because other wise I’d be getting around with a sigil of air and fire doing an extra 5k damage every 5 seconds o my auto.

for smaller groups engineers can pump out some massive aoe healing 800+ a sec aoe and then 10-18k burst aoe healing every 20-40 seconds depending on utilities, also comes packed with heaps of extra utility.

it really sucks when you zerker and you throw a nades barrage into a zerg and it hit 40 times then take 10k retal damage, but yea each nade can hit 5 times so it’s potentially 10-15 hits per throw, be wise around zergs.

No offense, but if you’re struggling against a turret engineer, you need to learn to play. And I run a turret engineer. I know exactly what can completely own me without batting an eye.

Basically you’re a horrible player.
The only reason turret engi isn’t a massive problem is bc good players refuse to run it and the people who do are horrible at it (hence the no dodging BS)

good players don’t run it because its not very good as far as competent players goes, however its literally the best scrub destroyer ive ever seen

When facing coordinate teams, they can usually spend 2 people and chain CC/ immobilize the turreter and spike him down very quickly due to the lack of invulnerable, lack of block, lack of stealth, blink/movement skill, and lack of stability,
The turreter will have half of it’s dps cut in around 40 seconds.

Lack of invulnerable:
Elixir S
Self-Regulating Defenses

Lack of block:
Static Shield
Gear Shield
Armor Mods (gives Aegis)
Gadgeteer (gives Aegis upon Throw Mine)

Lack of stealth:
Toss Elixir S
Cloaking Device
Various smoke fields plus blast/leap finishers

Lack of movement skill:
Elixir H (randomly)
Elixir B
Drop Stimulant (with Med Kit)
Elixir F (with Elixir Gun)
Toss Elixir B (randomly)
Infused Precision
Speedy Kits
Experimental Turrets (upon using Net Turret)

Lack of stability:
Elixir X
Mortar
Rumble (tool belt skill for Thumper Turret)
Toss Elixir B

Yep, they sure are lacking access to any of those… Only a few traits and skills for them…

Now it is true that a Turret Engineer won’t have access to ALL of those, but they are not as vulnerable or as lacking as you are thinking they are.

a turret build literally will only use 2 of those, 3 at maximum, you do understand that a turret engi has to drop trait points into turret traits and take turrets right?

also you can take gadgeteer and armour mods since they are both gm traits, you don’t use any elixirs in a turret build, using any of the many blast finishers means blowing up a turret which means less damage, you can’t take any traits to improve survivability in inventions since they are needed for turrets, turret engineers don’t use elixir x or mortar, even if you count the p/s defensive options they have a lengthy cooldown which anyone can easily take advantage of.

now I’m not defending turret engineers but atleast make some sense when you make an argument

Conditrap Ranger vs. Power Engineer.

that’s a 50/50 ive fought some good trap rangers before using a few power engineer builds and its never lopsided.
