pu is the garbage version of condi mesmer.. there are much stronger versions that these changes will break.. condi mesmer can already stack 20+ bleeds in a very short period of time.. if you are worried about condi pu.. dont be. they will do alittle more damage but still just end up being more annoying then useful.
you still cant swap if it dies though.. so you cant port to anyone near any kind of aoe.. does this thing get distortion also?
i understand that interupts are strong.. but are the traits strong enough to build your whole build around it? is an imob and a chill / blind that important over something else? if they are already interupted and dazed is them being stunned/imob instead of just dazed going to be the fight turning moment. im in no way saying disables/interupts are not good.. but wouldnt it be a better choice to just run the interupts and not go so deep into making it the central focus of the entire build?
is powerblock garbage? i played with it for a little while but its hard for me to see how it is working on the enemy. i dont know if it can do anything to thieves.. and ele/engi have so many skills blocking one or 2 wont change much. anyone have any testing with it.
how do you anything in life if you are emotionally damaged in a video game.. you know real stuff actually happens. people die/lose jobs/get sick/lots of real stuff happens. if you cant handle the ups and downs of playing a video game you are in for a rough life.
emotions dont help the situation at all. if you are emotional at the end of a game that you lose.. you are most likely playing emotional for the second half of that whole game (or whenever the beginning of the end happened.) maybe you were yelling at people in team chat or whatever you do when you start getting bent. but all those things make you and your team play worse.
i just dont see how its hard to burn the item you steal if you dont even want it by the time your next steal comes up.
so you want to be able to store up a whole bunch of stolen abilitys.. that would be really balanced for pvp. how many mesmer abilitys that give you all buffs at once do you want? you should atleast be able to chain 4 knockdown abilitys in a row vs another profession. i can see why you want this ability.. dosent seem logical though.

a build i created. give it a shot tell me what you think.
if you need condi cleanse switch the 2 to condi cleanse on heal. and you can swap the signet for mantra cleanse.. should be more then enough..
if you have good support from your team and want to melt people even faster swap staff for greatsword and keep up gs clones.
ya to me.. every warrior utility(used in meta) = push a button that lowers the skillcap to play for 10 seconds.
my main issue is if they are on a point or something .. they become condi immune so you cant killthem if you are condi.. the second it goes away they get pooped on.. they obviously dont have the skill to hold the point but got 10 free seconds of cap for no reason.
im not saying that these things cause them to get kills because they still need to land skills. just saying that this gives them the ability to do things outside of thier skill lvl.
it is like stealth.which gives you pretty much a blanket protection. i just think if you become blanket immune to anything you should stop getting credit for capping . just like stealth. so you have to choose when to do these things. not just have a chain of events based on stalling..
should be the same for any blanket immune to anything. i understand that this would cause the need to a way to cancel the stance. but that would add skill and strategy.. like.. if you sit on a point and go immune for the full 10 seconds you lose the point pretty much.. in the same way another person cant steath cap a point.

hmm. and warriors have longbow/ rifle. rangers have longbow/shortbow.. the rest of both professions weapons are meele. what makes one a meele class and the other a ranged class? the meta? what weapon sets are most op at the moment? if dagger was the best weapon ranger had with a op build built around it would they be a meele class?
it is not about outperforming.. it is that underperforming players can still play well with warrior because they can avoid the more complex parts of pvp. i know top end warriors still know all the fundamentals and this dosent really apply to them. but people who have no idea what to avoid in pvp can still just auto attack thier face off without having to learn what to do in certian situations..
say a warrior is fighitng a condi anything.. and they go condi immune.. they are not out playing that other person and the condi spec can literally do 0 damage and has to stand next to the attacking warrior for 10 seconds(or whatever they are specced for). so if they have that..one active ignore painone passive ignore pain+stability it is a long period of just avoiding the basics of pvp. only once these cooldowns are over does the actual pvp start
stability gives the warrior the ability to not have to learn what any animations or important casts of other professions are. the only reason stability gets less crap is because atleast it is cleansable.
in top end pvp the players have to learn what all the offensive+defensive cooldowns of almost every other profession are in order to beat them(and how to spot thier animations). the warrior ultilities let them ignore this part of gameplay.

you know hambow isnt meele right.. and bow is what warrior uses alot.. so are you saying warrior should slow down while using longbow? i know they lose the trait for speed with meele weapon.. but is that your logic. no switfness for hambow?
i dont even think it is about weak or powerful.. i just dont want them to be rewarded for avoiding whole aspects of pvp. make them play the game also. not just put up immunities and auto attack while other people need to know what a cleanse is and how to dodge roll and manage a health bar.
the issue i see is not that they are op.. but they can just turn off other peoples game plan with no skill in playing.. fighitng conditions..ok no conditions for 10 seconds.. fighitng someone who wants to cc you turn off cc with stabliity. its not like they dodge rolled your spike damage and outplayed you. they hit one button and didnt have to really play for 10 seconds.. they just turn off damage also. so its not like.. learn to pay and you can avoid that.. nomatter what the warrrior does they can sit on point for 10 seconds they did not earn just because of the class
not sure why people talk in such blanket terms. It is not about outweighing anything. It is about being able to apply conditions no matter what spec your enemy plays.. if they are single target you need clones/phantasms to apply your conditions or you do no damage. if your enemy clears clones you need to upkeep them and force them into torment blocks to apply conditions. It is not one way or the other, it is either or both depending on the situation.
k. the added percision + power = more damage then the rabid for my certian spec. i would be downgrading to go zerkers or rabid. ive tested in pvp and for a long time on the dummy. but that is just my spec.. im certian if you put rampagers on one of the sticky cookie cutter specs in the forums it would suck real bad.
i play with rampagers and can kill full glass and full bunker. seems silly for you to show up with very little info and make silly statments.
rampagers+pu is still 10x more defensive then shatter. i think its not great advice to say dont play it because you are scared of thieves.. you beat theives on reaction not by tanking thier hits.
if you wear rabid your iduelist will average about 4 stacks of bleed.. if you run rampagers your iduelest will average 7 stacks of bleed.. + you will have alittle hybrid from the power and your clones will have more crit chance.. just saying.
ya.. like everyone else said.. shatter is garbage vs thief every other mesmer is great vs thief..
stability is a passive replacement for dodge rolling. running it takes the thought out of pvp. lets get rid of that along with the turrets and mm
everyone who plays shatter now pretty much plays greatsword/staff. because sword is broken as can bee.
that is the beta version of blurred frenzy. maybe they can stick it on a button
(not the holding button down thing) the you leap instead of the clone.
the way the sword works now is unusable. vs any class playing almost any spec they kill the clone by accident with no target. any kind of engi/ele just spamming ground circles.. hambow(using the hammer or the bow). necros anything with a staff.. i guess you could use it if you 1v1 thieves and powerrangers allday.. but its real garbage.. if you push a button that should teleport you to your target imob stunbreak and it dosent happen you lose those… but you also lose the blurred frenzy that you were trying to teleport for. so you just got screwed.. if this even happens in 25 percent of the fights it is too much. seeing as the ground pathing is horrid and it is the most telegraphed move mesmers have.
the only way we had to avoid people dodge rolling the leap was to stall until the roll was over then swap. that option is gone.. plus any of the benefits the button brought to the fight.
sword is horrid now. if it was a bug fix or a nerf.. it nerfed the weapon. so say bug fix all you want.
if there is a blanket decrease in the weapons effectiveness then the weapon is nerfed.. how is that hard to understand. if it was a bug fix and the weapon got worse.. it is still a nerf. if you cant swap now because the logic of swapping with dead clone dosent make sense and that had to be corrected.. its still a nerf. silly to think otherwise.
The tears that PU creates in any chat should not stop people fromp laying it.. seems like people are having guilt alot to play one of our best remaining options. dont be guilted into playing a worse spec by map chat.
i agree that there is alot of garbage in trait trees.. but there will always be min maxing. in every game the best spec is reduced to one or 2 bcause they work better then the other options. sooo. if we change the traits we can change what is used the most i guess.
the only reason i am viewing tourny pvp different is because that is the only situation where your statment works in any way.. other then that there are alot more specs in use then the ones you have listed above.
people think its lame because it is so strong.. you are just getting tricked into not playing something by guilt. every time someone has pu tears it makes it more fun imo.
not sure what i am seeing here.. is this this exact thing as every other shatter build but without the good utilitys? why does it have its own name as a spec when its been around for years.
oh.. you are saying that there is only 1 spec that is top tier when you min max your team comp.. that is called min maxing and not really build diversity.. what you are talking about would requier 2 differnt specs to have the exact same usefullness. what you are refering to isnt even top tier tpvp it is tournys. because in top tier solo/team pvp there are people playing these specs(but i can agree that when you wattch the 5v5 tournys you may not).
fresh air/staff/powerranger/power necros etc.
i dont play guardian so someone else can comment on thier specs.. but just knowing the classes i play compared to the list you gave.
but if you are that far off on just the classes i know then im sure the rest of the list isnt 100% either..
How much build diversity to you see in other classes?
Most eles are D/D triple cantrip with 0/2/0/6/6 or 0/0/2/6/6 with celestial/strength runes.
Most thieves are either S/D evade spam 2/0/0/6/6 or or some D/P build.
Most warriors are hambow or eviscerate/100blades burst.. actually warriors seem to have the most diversity
Most guardians are balls to walls bunker or meditation.
Most necromancer are condi nuker terror bombers or Minion Masters
Most rangers are celestial spirits or traps with a shawtbow. And then most mesmers that are “good” are staff/GS shatter with the trait spread you provide. So I’d say in pvp theres not a whole amount of build diversity, but engineers and warriors seem to have far more viable options and thus appear to be more diverse.
NO. bad info!
if you bunker a condi pu you wont kill anything and you wont die. you will just hop around with your team and high five the people who carry you. seems silly
wow leap is amazing. give that here. and let it be cast without target
i like the guy who got hit by fire 61 times and complained that he died from it
llamas have been a hipster video game item from when i started mmos. ultima online had llama mounts like 20 years ago..
it seems the best reason to change a skill is if it kinda bothers peoples OCD.
just change it so the mesmer “leaps” at the target like warrior sword. imob on landing. then if you hit the button again you return to your starting point leaving a clone where you were. a shadow return. stunbreak on return. and useable with no target just like every other leap in game.
(edited by zaxon.6819)
i agree with adapt blah blah.. but the problem is that we are being forced into 1 of 2 specs if we want working weapons.. we have a choice of 2h shatter and condi pu pretty much. these may be better or worse then what we had before all these new changes but atleast we had choice.
no. i am just a person who dosent swap the second i leap bcause as soon as someone sees you use the ability they dodge. its a very telegraphed move. so i wait until they dodge to swap.
you must be over bunkering your condi spec feaduin. condi are actually fairly high damage and can usually make kills in 1v2 situations pretty easy.
in almost all situations in the patch Anet fixed tooltips because they didnt match the tool.. For mesmer they changed the tool because it didnt match the tooltip. Somehow this leads people to think its a bug fix when it could have been a tooltip fix. It was chosen as a nerf instead of a tooltip fix because they felt the skill needed a nerf.. They have showed that they have the ability to change tooltips because they do not match. They have shown in most sitations that tooltips are not the be all end all on how a skill behaves.
i leap will not work vs anyone who random aoes an area. ele. engi hambow. necro guardian.. pretty much every profession that just does random stuff and dosent bother targeting.
ehh. thieves got nerfed in the patch also. so you are eating the same crap we are. or i guess thieves got bug fixed. gg
i wish they “fixed the tooltip” instead of “fixing the bug”
ive played mesmer since release also. this move has been the same from release to this patch. if you think this was broken or overpowered the way it worked before this “bug fix” then i guess you got your wish and mesmers will be better off because of it. if you think the skill will function better now i guess we disagree.
comparing the skill to flesh wurm was stoopid from the start.. thats why i went along with it. the skill was not broken or op before this change.. the only reason to change it was to nerf mesmers. the move was in the game from the creation of guildwars 2 and made it through every patch with not 1 person giving a crap. this is a mesmer nerf.. talk all you want with pseudo reasons why its ok or not ok.
last time i quit mesmer is when they stealth nerfed izerker in the same patch they did torch changes.. then denied they did it over and over.. even with pre and post nerf screenshots and videos. they are just shady nerfers. bug fix nerf= politicians passing a law in the middle of the night and hoping noone notices.
