You totally forgot about queues do you If you log out with your “coordinated group” and “an uncoordinated group of newbies” will take your spot, and you’ll loose hard for hours. Would you really play that gamble?
I am honestly baffled no one has even thought of it, but the right thing to do here is to move the POI OUTSIDE of the gates.. yes it is that simple. Simply increasing the radius would do the trick, stop server transfers just to complete the deed (something I had to do as well, but was lucky to be able to return), and give all a chance to complete the deed.
Should be account bound in the current implementation. It’s the person who is the commander, not the character, after all. Whether he knows what he’s doing or not, having a blue icon does help. People tend to swarm to it which means the blue icon holder has some amount of control over the zerg. And when you have some control over the zerg, then it benefits the server. Nothing is worse than having people scattered around the map, dunning around like headless chicken, killing trees, mobs, grubs and banging the head against SM. Following a blue icon at least gives them purpose, momentum, and some kind of primitive organization. That’s what I’ve seen so far in WvW, am not pulling this from a hat.
Not only bumped, but /bugged in game. This must be a bug. It is as an important feature, as the ability to jump or walk forward. Why am I forced to buy all the armor pieces in the TP only to see how I’d look in them? Really?
Gear does not matter. Feel free to run naked in WvW. All that matters is numbers and knowing when to push. If you push, then the enemy tends to run away, even if they have more people and better gear.
I tend to run in my underwear most of the time ^^ And I’m never sure, is it my grenades the enemy zerg is running away from, is there a friendly zerg behind me, or is it because they fear exhibitionists xD
Yeah I made a post about this as well. I am not going to do any dungeons, because the armor sets just don’t appeal to me. However, some of the pieces I can’t use, I do like. Why should 2/3rd of the available dungeon gear be unavailable to us? Why lock us from content? Isn’t that against the philosophy of the game? Enabling the transmutation of heavy looks onto light armor and vice versa would give people many more reasons to do dungeons. Getting new looks is after all the reason why we are supposed to run them. Why then put bars and lock away 2/3rds of good content?
What? If anything you are downscaled way too little. When I went for the 100% map completion, and had to do the low level zones, I actually felt ackward and embarassed to “ruin” events for on-level people, I was wiping entire mob waves before they had a chance to even get to them. You can one shot many mobs. It goes better on higher levels but still.
As I said in another thread, Golems in the current form are a useless waste of resources. If you can spend 16 gold on them, you can instead build a kittenload of trebuchets and still have lots of gold to upgrade your keeps afterwards.
Yeah it really has to go. I even feel bad to port from LA to see a dragon, because the loot is often less than the cost of porting there :S It is simple, if ANet wants high levels to play in all the zones, the WP cost need to go, or be drastically lowered. This is not related to the amount of gold someone has, I have lots of gold, and can make lots of gold, still I feel awful whenever I use a non-free waypoint.
So you want to turn the current skill based PvP into the same old stat based nonsense? No thanks. Why would people be forced to grind for exotics just to be able to participate in this?
However, allowing us to transmute our PvE looks onto the PvP armor sounds perfectly fine
Ah tonics, you mean the blue things I delete as soon as they pop out of a chest? :P
Useless waste of space indeed. Either make them tradeable, or give us a expandable slot bar where the tonics would go, they shouldn’t take room in the bags.
More importantly, allow us to jump while transformed, and give each form the skills of the originals. If I’m a panther, I expect to pounce and stealth.
Let the owl fly/glide (only downwards never up), instead of falling from bridges. Sure, it is OP in puzzles, just put a cubed trigger zone in each puzzle, disabling transformations. Besides, why not allow it there? What’s wrong with using a tonic to get to those hard to reach places? The flight could have a 5-10second duration as well to minimize problems.
You should also be able to preview any dye on every armor piece. I will not buy any dye, unless I know how it looks first..
I have been told, that you can not transmute say a heavy armor piece look from a dungeon, onto a light/medium armor, and vice versa.
What kind or stupid idea is this? I myself, am not doing any dungeons, because, frankly, none of the looks appeal to me. However there may be a few looks from the armor types I CAN’T wear, that could convince me to run the dungeons. I am certain I’m not alone here.
Let’s look at this again. ANet has designed the dungeons, and rewards, to remove the grind for stats, instead letting us get cool new looks. At the same time, everyone is locked out forever, from 2/3rd of the possible looks obtainable in each dungeon. Who was in charge of this silliness?
Newsflash: If you enable transmuting every look onto another, you could potentially increase the number of people willing to do dungeons, by a factor of 300%. This also means the people would play longer, spend more money in the store, and generally have a goal.
There is no reason why a mesmer can’t have a look taken from a heavy armor. Or a guardian wear light robes. I mean, forbidding it goes against your own ideas for the game! Did you not unlock all skill challenges so that everyone can do them? Why? Because otherwise a lot of good content would be wasted. The same applies to transmutation of looks!
TL/DR
Please enable transmutation of looks from any armor type to another, with the exception of stats, of course
You can complete it after some tries without the bomb. It is fairly easy. There is no real point to carry the bomb anyway, I’ve never seen anything interesting in any of the puzzle chests, and I’ve done nearly all of them, some multiple times. I agree Griffinrook Run is pretty bugged, griffons can indeed hit you long after you have jumped, had my bomb blown up in mid flight multiple times. Just ask yourself, why do you bother with the bomb, if you get worse loot from it, than from killing a few griffons? Do it for the achievement, without the bomb
Why do countless people play Quake, Unreal Tournament, Counter Strike, Call of Duty, Team Fortress 2, enter you fav shooter here ?
The golem has to be fixed, it is clearly useless in it’s current state. Even if you get it free from a puzzle, it is stilll a waste to use supplies on this piece of junk. A ram or two are vastly superior to it. It has low damage, useless skills, low durability and is slower than a snail sprinting in superglue.
Moreover we do not need more siege machines. The rams deal with doors fast at a close range, check. Catapults deal with doors and walls at medium range, check. Trebuchets do so on long range, check. Why the golem then, especially at this price? Don’t even mention “but it can move!” It can’t. After the first keep it will be destroyed if anyone is defending it. If no one is defending the keep – why not usekitten ram? It would do the job much faster.
Anyway, I propose to replace the current useless, boring golem, with the amazing battle suit from the Personal Story (Asura).
- it can fire a huge beam from it’s middle, dealing insane damage to anything in it’s path – amazing for dealing with zerg and damaging gates.
- it can electrocute everything around it in a large radius – fantastic for encountering zergs.
- it can teleport and electrocute things where it lands! combine that with the previous skill, and you’ll get why it’s so fun
One such battle suit could wipe a decent raid all alone.
Is it OP? Hell yes.
Is it fun? Without any doubt!
Worth 1g and 200 supplies? You betcha.
Is it useful? Are you kidding me?
Because it is so strong, each side could only have max 1-3 of them at a time. In fact, the side who is winning, can only have 1, the second runner can have 2, and the last team may build and control 3 battle suits!
You may thing no way this can never work. I have to tell you yes it can. It worked perfectly in LOTRO, if anyone has seen the Troll Session Play, they will know how much fun it was to play golf with the enemy zerg while being a 10m high rampaging brute
Golems are a waste of time and resources currently. They need to be redone/fixed. A single ram > Golem. Golems die really fast, do extremely low damage to the gates, and apparently can’t even be repaired. And your zerg can take 2 keeps before the golem even reaches the 1st of them. Don’t even mention the cost.
A mob simply can not respawn while you’re still fighting it, that is not acceptable, but does happen. The respawn rate is ridiculous in many places. Respawn rate has to depend on the number of players around the spawn point, however in many cases it seems the game thinks I’m a one man raid.
Yesterday in WvW, someone summoned one of those flying fire elementals, and although my volume was rather low, each time the elemental flapped it’s wings, I heard an extremely loud clap/click sound. It was definietly coming from the elemental, and was in sync with its wing motions.
For anyone who:
- Tries to open the trading post, remotely or on site of the NPC, and doesn’t see anything on any tabs of it (sell/buy/pick up etc etc);
- Can only buy gems and other stuff but can’t sell;
- Can only see what are the top items tab;
- Can’t see any items on the “Sell Stuff” tab that exist on his/hers inventory and can’t sell anything;
- Other random issues that are related to the Trading Post but not mentioned above;Then try this, I did it 2 days ago and it worked:
1 – Go to the options menu, go to the 1st tab if I recall correctly, and change the language of the text. English to Spanish, Spanish to French, German to English…it doesn’t matter;
2 – Go to the options menu, go to last tab if I recall correctly, check what is the key attributed to the action “Toggle Language”. It should be near the end of the list and by default I think it’s the Right Ctrl Key;
3 – Close the option menu;
4 – Open the Trading Post;
5 – Choose one of the existing tabs and then press the key to “Toggle Language”. Try to hit the key, choose another tab on the Trading Post, hit the key again and see if it works at any time and you have your old Trading Post menu working. You should see the names of the items, menus and even quests change. Don’t worry;
6 – If your issue was something like mine, it should be working now. You only need to revert the options on the menu and no more need to press “Toggle Language”;
7 – If you close the client and relog, you might get the same little issue. I know it’s not perfect but until the tech team figures out what is wrong, it’s the best one can do about it;
8 – If it doesn’t solve your specific issue, don’t give up.
Hope it helps, best regards to all adventurers out there,
Caramulo
THANK YOU! I have been so frustrated with this issue and this seems to work for me. And for anyone else that tries this, it still worked for me when I changed my language back to English in the options menu. If it reverts for you, just try doing it again.
I can confirm this fixes the bug. Really weird solution though, why can’t this be finally patched?
Some of the things you see may be a result of client side code prediction failure. TO make things looks smooth, clients sometimes use prediction where a model will be, while waiting for the server to confirm it. This causes the famous rubber-banding, where you run forward, because the client lets you do so, but then the server corrects that, and you get pushed back. This can also cause someone to appear to run through things, only because your client was not informed about his actual position yet. I can imagine that a similar thing could happen when a player uses some kind of haste skill, and your client is not informed that he stopped using it, so the player keeps speeding across your screen. Don’t know if that’s the case, but it seems possible.
Yep, AoE should not go through the gates. However it may not be as simple to do as it seems, or rather, it may be simple but hard on the CPU, considering how many AoE attacks a zerg can deploy per second. At first I though that simply letting siege machines deal friendly fire to keeps is the solution, but players are creative and insidious, and it would be easy for spies to transfer servers to build siege in keeps and destroy them from the inside.
What we all want, is to have head to head matches, right? Where every server can win, and no one is left behind, just because they lack the numbers, or don’t have night coverage. There may be a simple solution to this, that does not require drastic server population changes, sleepless nights, nothing of this sort, it’s all in the code.
So, you ask, how can a small server possibly win against a giant WvW oriented server? The answer lies in the points and how they are awarded. Currently it’s equal for everyone, and here is the source of the current problem, if a larger force gets the exactly same number of points for holding a keep, as a small team, then you can never have even matches. One side will always dominate, over time.
The solution is so simple, it can easily escape notice. There should be a scaling factor applied to the amount of points received for holding a keep, and that factor should be dependant on the amount of people currently online. The side with the large zergs may hold 95% of the map, but the small team can easily match up if they take a few keeps, due to their large scaling factor. If the big server gets say 50 points for holding a keep, the small server may get 250 points for holding the same keep. Why? Because it is harder for a small team to take and hold anything, than it is for a huge zerg. This is why they deserve more points. And that is where the scaling factor comes into play.
Now think about it. As long as each server is active and is taking keeps, they will always have a chance to win, even if the match lasts a month. Because even if one server takes all the maps in the night and gathers a large advantage in points, in the morning the small servers will catch up really fast so it will be even again.
Now, you should notice that a scaling factor based on the number of people alone is not enough here. It should also be dependant on the difference between the points on each side. So, the more points you have, the lower the scaling factor will be. The less points you have, the faster you will gain them. It may sound complicated but is really, really simple, just one or two variables, can solve most of the current issues. It’s all in the coding, and finding the correct numbers for the scaling factors.
This solves the issue of night-capping, without removing it. It solves the problems of uneven populations, the issue of different time zones, of WvW focused servers matching with casual ones. Everyone has the potential to win, if they only try. Of course if no one bothers to do anything, the server will fail, regardless of how high the scaling factor is.
Instead of playing on my alt, I have to sit in LA doing nothing, waiting for the 2 hour queue to let me in. There is no reason why this has to be the case. Once queued, you should be able to play on any character you like, then, once you get a entry ticket, that ticket is saved and you are informed that a spot has been RESERVED for you.
Now, this does not mean that spot is now taken and blocked, it is a virtual spot. It means, that as long as you have this entry ticket, you may at any time, from any character, press the Enter WvW button (for the zone the ticket is for), and you will be placed at the beginning of the queue, and will get in first. You have already waited hours, that is your right. The entry ticked expires as soon as you use it, or if you log out the game the normal way – crashes will keep you in the queue.
If multiple people use the ticket at the same time, they will be placed at the beginning of the queue in the appropriate order. This assures, that people who waited hours, will always get in first, before those who queued in only now.
This system fixes an annoying problem. Currently, when you’re queued, and the message pops up that you may enter WvW, all you can do is enter now, or basically forfeit, and wait another 2 hours. What if you’re finishing a dragon event, or any other event, or are in a instance, doing personal story, or simply need to finish helping a friend? You waited hours, there was no way to predict what you will be doing after that time, does that mean it is right to put you back at the end? No it is wrong.
I have tested it, and indeed, if you port to WvW during an event, you LOOSE any participation in that event. I tried to finish the boss before the timer ran out, but had to press Enter WvW in last second when he was at 1% health, and I got nothing.
The current queue system is simply unfair, player-unfriendly, anti-social, and annoying. The fix is presented above, please take time to read through my wall of text and see the solution, thank you
Yup, second week in row, and the exactly same thing happens. Few hours of even, fun and exciting fights, then one server suddenly sweeps all 4 maps, and gains 4x the point count of the other 2, which remain at around the same point level. One server logs entirely then, which means the dominating server roflstomps the remaining single server even more. Last night we had about 10 total people left in 3 maps, while the dominating server had a full zerg taking the remaining keeps. No chance to defend.
AoE is the key, had zero problems completing the deed.
There will be no nerf because of WvW. It was never meant to be balanced. It was designed to be unbalanced.
Alt-1-Alt-1-Alt-1-Alt-1-Alt-1-Alt-1 My fingers hurt
But I love the speed.
You can easily kill loads of mobs at once with grenades. You can use riffle to knock ranged mobs together, and then nuke with grenades. Grenades are also pretty awesome in WvW. Did I mention grenades rock? <3 xD Grenades can give you perma-haste with traits. Event farming in Orr – only with grenades! When all else fails – use grenades! Devs, please buff grenades!
If it’s worth more than around 30c you’re better off vending it than salvaging.

As someone who has like 15 bank slots wasted with harvesting tools of different levels, I agree something should be done about this. Perhaps mining ori from copper is too much, but having the ori pick degrade significanlty slower on copper would diminish the problem a lot. Lev 80 players should always wear orichalcum tools, but right now many, including me, feel bad of wasting 3 shots of a master tool on a low level node.. It should take something like 9 hits, or 3 copper nodes to lower the ori pick by just 1 point.
I agree this is the first MMO that actually has something resembling a world that you can explore. Where you wonder what’s behind the next hill. Where things feel alive, and look breathtaking. Where you can find secret locations that really can amaze you and aren’t trivial. People who talk about rectangles and WoW having a ‘world’ will never understand it I’m talking about the thing that Gothic had, but Oblivion did not, what Deus Ex had, but Call of Duty did not, what Unreal had, but Quake did not.
Why do people farm mats? You can buy all you need on TP, and it will save you loads of time. In that saved time you will make more more than you spent on the mats, and it will be fun on top. So why? In this MMO grinding mats is not needed at all, unless when TP is down maybe. I have 2 professions on 400 and only had to farm for about 1 hour to get low level mats, only because TP was down for a few days at that time.
You know, this can also backfire, someone may innocently say he’s playing with his kitten right now, and people will think he’s obscene :P
I have 100% map completion, and not a single time did I get an item I could use Not just because it was low level, but because it was unusable by my profession
All went straight to TP / vendor / given to randoms on the map.
What’s the point of rewards, if others get to use them, not you? Why not just give us extra 10-50s per map and drop the items completely?
The problem is people thinking stats matter in a action game like this The obsession with MF gear is no worse than the obsession with power and crit damage. In fact, these are the same. So shall we also ban power and crit damage from items, and kick people who use these? Why not also ban people who selfishly stack vitality, they clearly do no damage and hurt the group? What about condition damage users? Instant damage FTW right? or wait ban the instant damage users as well, condition damage FTW, it ticks even when you dodge! Or maybe it’s the people who have too much toughness that really are the culprit why parties wipe? Think about that!
Not sure what you mean. Some items are ingredients, some are ingredients that can also be eaten, and some are only food. The items that are only food do not show up in the crafting panel.
I give this “-1” because I got 400 cooking without running into this problem.
Maybe you used a crafting guide or did not use discovery, that does not mean people who want to discover themselves have to suffer. There is no reason for this not to be implemented, asap.
To do discovery, you need to have as many ingredients as possible (unless you cheat and use a guide but that’s that). Many ingredients are also food, as you say, but there is no visual indication in the crafting list, that these are ingredients. This creates a serious issue. Say you have a list of like a 100+ ingredients, foods, and foods that are ingredients, and you want to be sure you have all the needed items to continue discovery. What to do? The only thing you can do is to click on every single of the 100+ items to see if it’s an ingredient, and if you have at least one of it (to use in discovery).
Now, imagine you just crafted an advanced item. What happens now is, you have to go through the list AGAIN, all 100+ items, click, check, click check.. to be sure you have all the possible ingredients to discover new dishes.
There HAS to be a new filter for ingredients, foods that are ingredients, and just food items. In addition it would be smooth to show how many items of a sort you already have, in the list itself, in addition to how many you can craft, as well as color coding for the 3 categories.
I cant even give a gold piece to a fellow guild member so he can get guild armor, nor can I aid any friends that are just starting by giving them a leg up
Wait, you can’t? How so, I’m pretty sure I sent a couple dozen silver and other items to friends.. is there a limit on how much one can mail or something?
Wow? Fun? How can you put the two in one sentence without including the word ‘not’ ?
Yeah, I’m all for new idles, dances, etc. More animations is always good, even if oyu have to buy them.
I agree, the levels need to go, add smooth scrolling instead please. And first person mode, it is so creepy and ugly to have the character go semi-transparent, with the eyeballs and teeth getting clearly visible :S Can’t even make a decent screenshot because of that.
There is another solution, than a global filter. Create user customizable spam filters. Add any phrases you like, and messages containing them will not reach you. Gold sellers will never know what phrases you’re using, so they won’t create new ones all the time.
Looks pretty awesome, I’m all for it
I agree, in a game that has Guild in the name something like this is almost expected :P

This should also count for all intermediate cooking ingredients such as ball of dough or jar of tomato sauce. Right now these fill the entirety of my bags, all 50+ slots :S And I’m still only at 300 cooking.
It would make exploring the world so much more exciting, if you could encounter rare mobs and NPC’s, that could spawn anywhere in the world, impossible to camp, granting you great loot or offering special services.
The mobs would be tougher than normal, and could have a chance to drop rare items, exotics, special mats, even cash shop items, as well as perhaps a small chance to drop unique cosmetics, and a tiny chance to drop legendary components.
The spawning would be rare, some mobs could even spawn only once, and drop a unique cosmetic item.
It should not affect the game economy in any significant way, but would make the world a lot more interesting to explore The unexpected is most exciting.
What we need is an ability to right click a name in chat and instantly block and report it for gold spam. Right now it takes too long, right click a name, select report, select reason, accept, confirm.. it is a common plague, it needs a shortcut. Same thing for mail, add a second button only to report & delete gold spam, with one click.
Consider as well to instantly block the ability to post in chat and send mail when an account has been reported for gold spam. Instant block, that can be reviewed later by a mod. This will actually save time for the mods, it takes lot less time to check 1 account, than to go through 100 reports. Of course if someone abuses this feature, he will get banned too, obviously.
PLEASE add a filter, or mark the basic and intermediate cooking ingredients with a different background color, or icon, it is SO messy to have to check every single item in a long list to see if it’s an ingredient and if I need more if it…
