It is concerning that parts of the playerbase is setting a minimum limit of AP to do content that AP tells you nothing about and content that can be done by 3 people really easily. The barrier will no doubt increase with time. I wonder if in 2 years people will be asking for 10k AP to do AC.

I’d be in favour of some interchangeable weapon skills. They could impliment it so that particular skills are restricted to a particular 1-5 slot to minimise its effects on balance. It could open up loads of different builds.

OMG YES! Funny thing is i was actually contemplating making a similar suggestion

Anet most definitely should try and build systems for user generated content, especially when it comes to dungeons.

There will need to be certain restrictions to do with rewards so that players can’t game the system but having control over layouts, types of enemies you face even down to boss mechanics (out of pre-existing lists ofc) would be awesome! It should also come with a ratings system so that the players can rate the creation.

Oh and yes this can work in an MMO. Forms user generated content already exists in MMOs.

So OP, you should start by defining stacking. To me, stacking is fighting in close proximity to your allies, nothing more. The very notion of a patch to counteract people fighting in close proximity to each other is an absurdity.

Being fed up with people using LoS or something really cheesy like dodging into walls, fair enough, but proximity itself? Why don’t you just cut to the chase and demand the removal of melee?

Jzaku is correct about how Burst Mastery interacts with Cleansing Ire.

Burst Mastery doesn’t actually reduce the amount of adrenaline you spend but instead uses all 3 bars and then refunds one.

Yup, kinda weird stuff as it brings back memories of Goldeneye and that one person we all knew who always played as Oddjob because they consider winning more important than having a laugh with friends.

We resent the person who plays as Oddjob like you might hate the adult that uses their full strength when playing football with a child as it’s obvious to us all that they prefer stroking their own ego above anything else.

True,but that means i have to constantly deselect/select my target,and the targeting system is kinda whack in gw2 so if youre fighting against several people,or even a mesmer or mm nec you will have to deselect him for tremor and then cycle through their minions or clones again to get your target,wich can be quite costly if you happen to select the wrong target again after that.

The targetting system is a pain that’s why i try not to use it. The main time i target something is if i’m using a ranged weapon, a movement skill towards an enemy or if i want to keep a closer eye on their buffs.

I use mace offhand all the time. 4 vuln and an interrupt on 1200range is pretty useful. I use mace 5 whenever it’s off CD if we’re fighting a group of non-champs and on champs i use it to start the fight.

For only personal DPS, what is optimal? Spamming 1? Is 5 at point blank useful?

axe/mace, it’s optimal to use the #2 and #4 when both are off CD, and at the end of your axe chain attack. #5 use at your discretion, but again, use those skills only at the end or beginning of your axe chain attack. Interrupting your chain attack in the middle is a substantial loss of dps.

i would also suggest learning the individual animations of chop, double chop and triple chop as you can dodge in between them and it won’t interrupt your progress through the attack chain. It’s a really useful thing to learn as you’ll take less of a dps hit when you dodge.

I found skill 5 on mace to be terribly buggy,you have to be Exactly infront of your opponent for the skill to go off.Otherwise it just goes on cd without it ever being fired at all..This happens way to often and people do not stand still..So you have to time your tremor Really well for it not to fail,pay attenton to that.Also tremor can get randomly obstructed at the worst possible times,wich also happens alot.And these two things are the reasons i am not using mace offhand.When youre playing fast paced you will fail tremor alot since you will be moving around constantly and the slightest turn either from you or your foe makes tremor fail.Tbh i think they should fix tremor up a bit so it can follow its path in a bit wider angle instead of the current Straight forward path only.

The issue with failing to get tremor off is down to your targetting. If you untarget things when you’re moving around and want to use that ability you’ll have a way higher success rate.

Atm the only option is the use an upgrade extractor from the Gem Store. Anet have not said this’ll change in the future.

You’d be best off buying a new sigil tbh as the extractor no doubt costs more.

Ok so one thing thats been mentioned with regards to a new race is the personal story. Certain races would not fit into the current personal story and so can be discounted right? Well think about it this way- why would a new race need the current personal story? Why not give it its own unique story? Would drive sales (either gems or expansion) and create a huge buzz. Those that were not that interested would buy just for the new achievements and lore….

Just seems logical.

I’d agree with you that the personal story shouldn’t be a barrier to a new race.

Ideally Anet should be changing the personal story in the future to take on other dragons and allow us to cleanse Orr and start rebuilding. It would be at this point where it makes most sense to introduce a new playable race as that new playable race would in the lore be joining the pact after Zhaitan’s defeat unless they do one giant retconn that’ll just make my eyes roll.

They could even do it by half measures in that for the current races keeping their missions that aren’t zhaitan specific and flesh out a personal story post-zhaitan. It’s alot of work though but hopefully an improvement on the current. May even not have Trahearne heading the pact seeing as he’s just a scholar that’s studied Orr. What use would he be against Kralkatorrik?

It’s ridiculous! Equipping SoM then unequipping it will remove it but only temporarily. Pretty much as soon as you enter combat it’s back. I don’t like it, i want it fixed. I don’t want my dps increased because of a bug.

Then stop using the trait/healing signet until it is fixed.

don’t worry ANet will fix it because of "bugs will be fixed which were allowing more advantage than expected on the battlefield.’’ , but Rush,Bull’s charge and flurry bugs that kills us are fine.

ugh. I’m kinda sick of higher HP pools being equated with tougher content and one-shot mechanics are lame. Give me better AI, more complex less predictable AI, and i’ll be happy.

As for stacking… while i do think stacking against a wall and dodging into the wall is really cheesy i don’t understand why people are so hostile to everyone being in close proximity to each other. That’s the basis of stacking. You don’t need the wall or anything, you can stack in the middle of the room. I love it when people join me in melee range because then i’m not having to chase after the boss all the bloody time! But if you don’t want to join me in melee so be it. I’ll just show you my intimate knowledge of the encounters by being the only one in melee and still barely getting hit.

You know, it’s actually kinda funny. People complain that the game’s all about damage but then when people use a tactic that exponentially boosts the effectiveness of support people continue to complain.

There still a way to handle it relatively easy from range, as long as you kill those annoying wolves first.

Not just at range but also melee. All it takes is a bit of stability to get rid of the annoyance of those dazes and to dodge into the troll when its up in the air.

Had to just take the only somewhat quick path in HotW and make things just a little more annoying…

tbh it’s not its speed of doing that makes me only do p1, it’s the fact the other paths require underwater combat. P1 could take 5 hours to do and i’d still be more likely to do that than the others.

Traits should be III, IX, and XI in Strength. I, V, and X in arms. Take 10 out of Discipline put in Empowered.

Go full berserker gear as soon as you’re able. Change Fear Me to Banner of Discipline, and Signet of Might to For Great Justice

Thanks for the advice, I can see how all the traits work together. If I have two stacks of one boon, for example Might, will Empowered give me an extra 2% damage, or just 1%?

Empowered is 1% per unique boon on you. 2 stacks of might will give just 1% dmg increase.

There is a use for axe 5 in the grawl fractal on the last boss to strip its shield before it kills a hostage. This is the ony time i use axe offhand.

i dont believe it works that way anymore. now one skill count as one attack

When would you say it changed? I’ve not had that fractal in a few months. If that’s the case it’ll be time to salvage that axe.

It didn’t if that was the case 100b would be the same way and it isn’t.

I’m afraid there is no list in game of which paths you’ve done. Checking to see if you’ve done story mode is easy enough as you can’t open explorable without doing story but for explorable paths your best bet is to check the wiki to see if any of it rings a bell. Failing that the only way to go is to do all the paths.

I’m sure you have had a lot more than 81gold over your GW playtime. Some people save their gold and have thousands (or play the market) and others spend what they have, but that doesn’t mean 81 gold is hard to come by. If you’re doing dungeon runs, you’re going to get 81 gold fairly quickly.

ofc ive had more than 81g, i’ve dumped a few hundred g into crafting alone. I just don’t think you can expect casuals to dump 80g on runes.

edit: for me i don’t think it’s worth it as i change my build too much depending on what my mates are playing at the time. Maybe when i get my ascended armour i’ll have a 3rd gear set lol

Using strength runes is really the only thing that would make going 30 in tactics for phalanx strength worth it. As it is now, the only reliable source of strength gain is from forceful greatsword, how is that enough to give party wide 25might stacks?

lol, no what makes going 6 into tactics for PS worth it is not having a party that can stack might. No matter your runes or gear it will be a net dps increase for the party. All strength runes give you is 45% might duration and 1 added stack for everyone. The might you give will be what? 10s instead of 8? Is it really worth the 80g+?

If youre concerned about your might uptime grab some food first.

That 45% (and gain strength when hit) is what makes perma 25 might stacks possible. It’s the difference of about partywide additional 6 might stacks. Which is a huge difference between Scholar Runes and Strength Runes. Even ignoring your party altogether, with the Phalanx Strength build, Strength Runes are a larger DPS boost for you then Scholar runes. So yes, to make this build a lot better, you need strength runes. 80G isn’t really much these days…

80g most definitely is alot of money especially for those most in need of PS: casuals. I wouldn’t say im a casual and even i’ve only got 81g.

I do think they need to be expanded upon as it lacks consistency. I could play one day and within 30minutes of not even knowing what the dailies are they’re all done. Yet another day it won’t be completed regardless of how long i play.

Tbh though, i don’t really care which is why i don’t bother looking to see what they are. I have no need to do dailies it just seems a bit inconsistent.

I build exclusively for power. I don’t have much of an issue, i kill most people i fight. That may be down to my playtime on my main though (1k hrs). I’ve never found it unfun to fight condis. It never occured to me that it could be infuriating to. Fighting against someone that relies heavily on stealth is tedious but condis? lol. /cleanse

Just wait until you run into 2+ heavy condi spam necros who are well coordinated. THAT is FUN.

I really hope i do! Sadly, i’m yet to come across a necro that’s a challenge.

I think someone from DnT said that you need a 50-55% uptime on 90%hp to beat strength runes.

For them, maybe, for me definitely not.

So Strength gives: 175 power, 7% dmg increase

Scholars gives: 175 power, 100 ferocity, 10% dmg when 90% hp.

100 ferocity is 6.666…% crit dmg.

How much of a dmg increase this is for you would depend entirely on your crit chance.

Now, i’m running with atleast 25 in arms, full berserker with ascended trinkets (only agony infusions) and deep strike with only 2 signets that are always unused (healing signet and fury). This puts me at 91% crit chance when disc banner is out in a level 80 zone.

It’s a simple case of dividing the crit dmg by your crit chance.

This would mean that the 100 ferocity gives me 6.06…. % dmg increase (the 6 is recurring, not the 0)

I only need to spend 10% of the fight at 90%+ to be at 7.06…% dmg increase. That is really easy to do especially if you’re stacking.

This isn’t, however, taking into account the effects of might duration i cba to do the calculations as there’s alot of variables but i doubt it would result in much of a personal dps increase although would probably be a dps increase when soloing as you’re far less likely to be at 90% hp.

Its potential effects on the party as a whole when combined with Phalanx Strength intrigue me but i’m not gonna spend 80g+ to test it out.

Im perfectly fine with balanced stance how it is. It is the go-to skill for when i need some stability. It doesn’t need to be buffed into an unstrippable boon, we need dolyak signet buffed/reworked to make me even think about taking that instead.

I use axe offhand almost exclusively. Although axe 5 does less damage than auto attack, I found it can refill adrenaline quickly. After using f1, then 5, I can refill adrenaline before the cool down. That way I can spend traits and utilities on other things, rather than adrenaline building.

It’s a bit overkill though as generally you can build your adrenaline up before the CD’s over on a single target anyway. Against 2 or more it can get ridiculous even without any sort of trait that boosts adrenaline. Hitting 3 enemies with your axe AA you’ll be full adrenaline well before the AA chain ends.

Yes you can build your adrenaline up on a single mob quickly, if you trait for it. In my experience, I can build it faster using axe 5, than just AA. It tends to take a bit longer just using AA to build adrenaline. Against multiple mobs, yeah I can build it fast without axe 5, but axe 5 helps tag more mobs, as well as helping bring them down a little quicker, and quickly building adrenaline.

Unless I’m doing something wrong, I tend to like axe 5 for tagging and adrenaline building, out of the dual wield weapon combos I’ve used.

Even without traits. I only run with 3 in disc for fast hands as i can’t live without it but still, the full AA chain maxes my adrenaline without weapon swapping before the burst’s CD is up.

Yeah, it’s useful for a quick adrenaline regen at the start or if you’re having trouble hitting enemies it’s just axe off hand is really lackluster. All it provides is generally provided for better elsewhere.

I’ve tried in the past to create an axe/axe build, ran it for a few months in <level20 fractals. It did quite well. I actually quite like axe4, i know it’s just added fury but it means you can drop SoR for the banner and still have perma fury.

If BurrTheKing’s suggestion in this thread (axe5 giving projectile reflect) were the case i’d probably be joining you with the dual axes.

Tbh, i find it a bit dodgy that people are calling for a nerf to an 8s counter of the current meta. It seems to be a matter of self-interest as opposed to anything else.

Berserker’s stance granting immunity to conditions may have initially been a bug (although the tooltip could have just been worded incorrectly) but it’s obvious that through the data Anet has gathered that it made more sense for them to not fix it and instead change the tooltip to represent its functionality more accurately.

I personally doubt Anet will nerf BS at this stage precisely because condi builds are so popular. From what i understand they want a changing meta with decent counter play. Whether they can succeed in this is another matter however.

Berserker Stance:
Immunity to Cripple, Chill, Immobolize (maybe blind as well). Gain extra adrenaline when hit during Berserker Stance.
Duration – 8 seconds
Cooldown – 30 seconds

Which basically reproduces dogged march just a bit better and on a CD. So what are your suggestions for the trait then?

honestly i wouldnt go for subjobs like op suggested. i would make it so each class can choose a certain path or so. lets say mes could choose either the duelist path which will open more 1v1 traits and skills or some form of control wizard which is more aoe/cc/punishing based.

and for each class there could be 2 different paths. that could actually solve some issues with the balance issues between spvp and wvw.

I’d agree with this. It could be integrated through providing a 6th traitline that’s specific to the path you chose. Alot easier to balance than being able to dual class.

There’s actually a few now depending on circumstance.

there’s the old 30/25/0/0/15 GS/axe+mace, i use it for soloing mainly.

there’s 20/30/0/20/0 (axe/mace taking empower allies and dual weild agility)

If someone’s already taking empower allies go 30/30/0/10/0 (axe/mace taking berserker power and dual weild agility)

Then there’s 0/25/0/30/15 if your group sucks at might stacking (forceful GS and phalanx strength)

Interestingly English isn’t actually the official language (im defining official as de jure, i.e. in law) of the UK. There is only one de jure language in the UK and that’s in Wales and it’s Welsh.

I don’t understand how people can be confused at the use of the US flag to designate the English language. This is the case all over the internet. I could understand if you were new to the internet but chances are if you’re playing an MMO you’re not.

Its not confusion of what the language is. Its confusion of whether you are seeing the right groups. I dont expect to see US flags while playing on EU. Its as simple as that. And i cant imagine its hard for them to do a separate and more relevant flag for the different client.

Also from a personal opinion i find the US flag hideous and would rather not see it. xD

Tbh, i’d prefer a simple ‘Eng’ instead of a flag.

Btw, that’s how i see the union flag and st. george’s cross :p

Interestingly English isn’t actually the official language (im defining official as de jure, i.e. in law) of the UK. There is only one de jure language in the UK and that’s in Wales and it’s Welsh.

I don’t understand how people can be confused at the use of the US flag to designate the English language. This is the case all over the internet. I could understand if you were new to the internet but chances are if you’re playing an MMO you’re not. Besides, the game is in American English.

Burst skill is immune to blindness.

I’d agree with this. It wouldn’t render blind useless against warriors with the trait as blind spam would result in a massive reduction in adrenaline generation thus reducing the availability of the blind-immune burst yet it would still be better than the current trait.

Btw, if BR was the minor trait i’d be fine with how it is now.
