I’d say play what you like. I find necro to be very well suited to high lvl fractals. They barely put out any boons compared to many other classes so enemies don’t steal them. They can endure condi’s very well by transfering them back, eating them, or sending to their minions via death magic traits. Also really handy to have on lvl 40s when on crit gives enemies nearly infinite of all boons on enemies to be able to strip them or corrupt them into condi’s. Also their high hp and nearly constant death shroud make tanking stuff very easy. So many little tricks also they can do. Like the fractal avenger trying to stomp an ally. I just pop in reaper shroud, hit 3 to fear it and rez without putting my main hp in danger.
I bought 1 thinking I didn’t need it more then that, and wasn’t quite sure by the description, then found it it was only 1 space, decided I’d break down eventually and get the rest, so essentially I paid $10 more then the discount 5 price -.- And now to add insult to injury, those extra copper o matics and silver o matic I bought long ago were a waste of gems/money. Not to mention the infinite tools (i bought several sets for my alts) Not very happy.
Just did guild rush twice. Made it all the way through both times, no reward. Waited for timer to finish, no reward. Tried running through last flag several times, still nothing.
Did guild trek next, was standing right next to the glowing item and got no credit when completed. Even tried interacting with several of them but nothing happens when i click, doesn’t even let me click on it.
Just wanted to give my appreciation to Anet about how awesome HoT is! I’ve been having so much! I’ve said before but I truly think Anet has some of the best enviroment artist in the gaming industry, the maps are gorgeous and detail and rich. Really enjoying the new vertical-ness of the maps, gives a great sense of scale and so much to explore. Also I’m really happy where the enemy difficulty scale is. Regular mobs actually take a bit of thought in how to approach them instead of just being able to steamroll through everything. And its nice to see people asking for help or assisting in those mobs that are elites/champs/legendaries. I hope future content retains this level of difficulty. I could go on but in short thanks Anet for making such an awesome expansion! I certainly look forward to future content like this!
I’m also wondering is it the same as the closed beta few weeks ago or something new/different?
Thanks for the invite to the stress test. Was enjoyable to be able to get a taste of the new stuff. I like the revenant, glad it doesn’t feel like any of the other classes play style. My only miner qualm about it was that the field of the mist skill on the hammer, it feels a bit loose, like it needs tightening up, felt a little loose when turning your character to adjust the direction.
The wyvern boss was fun, I think I’m going to really like the new defiance system, much easier to understand. Also noticed how there was no crazy boss glow Not sure if its because the wyvern is so big its not an issue, or maybe because we didn’t have a full zerg with the wide gambit of all classes fighting. In any case it was nice being able to see what the boss was doing.
Would like to see the mastery window maybe being a little smaller and not take up 80% of the screen.
gliding felt good and responsive. I was gonna make a minor complaint about how descending was taking too long when your flight bar was running out leaving you with a long fall if you were not close to the ground. Instead though I realized this will be taken care of with longer flight or one of the other masteries, also I think it might make the fall damage traits more useful now (including my fall damage armor set)
Would really like to see a continuation of more enemy telegraphs, makes it easier to see what the enemy is going to do.
Loved everything I saw involving the story, keep up the good work!
Been noticing this the last day or so, every time i leave a group my game crashes. Have a friend who has the same problem.
Didn’t encounter any problems in terms of lag or fps drop. Ran really smoothly considering all the events going on and helicopters falling out of the sky.
good question, didn’t think of that, guess i can delete my necro if need be, got way more lvl tomes then i’ll ever need.
Yay, just got my email! Excited!
I just saw that!! Thank you Anet! xD Been waiting for this for a long time.
I too have been waiting for the Annihilator, I only saw him once about 3 days ago, but I was the only one at the time at redrock. Since then i’ve done countless defends but still no spawn, i’ve taken to just sitting on the cliff waiting.
I am continuously bewildered that Anet thinks most new players are lacking the intelligence to figure out new systems and such. Maybe true, I don’t know. Thats kinda sad to think about, I’d like to think humans were more adaptable and able to learn then that.
I didn’t think the gem exchange was that hard to figure out at the early days of the game. This new change is disappointing to me. All its gonna do is make me not buy gems as often. I used to put about 2g per day worth of gems, accumulating a little bit each day and eventually spend it on something I wanted. Oh well, i’m not gonna rant cause its not gonna change anything and I’m only one voice lost amongst an ocean of other voices anyway.
Possible suggestion:
I don’t see why they can’t just incorporate two tabs, one for small increments and one for bulk purchases?
Not a major complaint but a small annoyance. I bought the home instance teleport, thinking hey, i can jump back to my home instance, sell some stuff, and get back to adventuring, only to find out that the Asura home instance has no NPCs vendors. Wanting to make sure, I checked the other race home instances, they (with the exception of sylvari) have at least 1 vendor if not multiple vendors to sell stuff to. Requesting at least 1 lowly vendor in Asura/Sylvari home instance.

I had 9 in one day few weeks back. I usually report them if i’m not in combat.
I would like to see boon duration (primary), prec, tough, or maybe prec, healing power, crit dmg, condi duration, vit, power.
A lot of really great ideas, I especially like: 2, 4, 12, 13, 18, 19, 24, 27, 28, 32, 43, 50, 51, 57, 60, 67, 71 intriguing, 73 never thought of that but good idea, 82, 92 I think they said would be implemented soon in the April patch, 108, 111.
Frankly I’m surprised some of these were never implemented from the beginning, since they are features in every other mmo I’ve ever played. especially the sort armor on AH by type (heavy, light, medium) instead of going through them all. Also the revive thing has begun to become very annoying. Certain pick up items should have different priority over rezzing. I’ve died many times in the Solid Ocean Fractal because I needed to pick up a crystal and not rez the dead person beside me -.- And I don’t know how many times Brahams dialogue box comes up instead of the mining option in the Molten Furnace Fractal.
UI features…I know Anet said they wanted to maintain a style to it so I’m meh on that point, though I would like to see a bit more customizable movement options like in GW1. #24, seen many threads for that one, don’t think it’s every going to happen…same with #27, though I think that is a serious issue since this is a game that relies on seeing what the enemy is doing/going to do and being able to respond to it.
43 would be really convenient. I swap weapons a lot when I’m not in combat and trying to find the weapon I need amidst all the loot, gear sometimes takes more time than it should. #57, I’m glad to see Balthazar vendor had a buy 10 of feature instead of one. so now i just need to click 150 times instead of 300 times when buying obsidian shards…-.-
Agree that many of these aren’t really necessary but convenient. Still would be nice to see some implemented.
There is a polymok arena off the NE side of Rata Sum, so I’d imagine they’ll get to that eventually. I occasionally will go do divinity reach and look at the target shootout place to see if they snuck it in during a patch or something. I was a little disappointed in the moa racing. I think it would of been more fun for 5 people to be turned into moas and compete on a track, sorta like sanctum sprint AND allow people to bet money on the winner
they said its coming out. be patient.
Lastly, I don’t think this actually exists in Aion, so maybe its more open for use by others since its just concept art. But can you imagine how nice this would look on Sylvari or human!?
(edited by technonewt.2907)
Before Guild Wars 2 game out I was playing Aion (Korean MMo), and while the environment was pretty enough, I thought the armor design was marvelously designed. It had a very noble, pristine, sleek look to it. I would love to see such armor designs make their way into GW someday. Not to say GW doesn’t have that, but it seems there is a majority of armor skins that are gritty, torn, burnt, worn, etc, or have some type of fire/flame/molten theme. I think that’s fine, my Charr uses the dredge dungeon armor. But maybe balance it out with a wider array of armors that appeal to a broader spectrum of players. I guess I lean more toward a look though that is sleek and smooth, clean, maybe shiny. I think such types also have a practical application: better to show off dye colors, or maybe engravings in plate, metal, leather, etc. To show that you can have beautiful ornate, detail in armor/clothing without relying on a more external features if that makes sense?
Also of the things with many of the GW2 armor is that it’s bulky and many pieces are over-sized (mostly the heavy armor), some shoulders look huge, or have excessive spikes or other pieces going every which way; a lot of times clipping with back pieces, hair, etc. One of my favorite heavy armor is the culture human T3 set because it doesn’t have any odd, excessive appendages coming off it. It has nice detail in the shoulders and almost looks like a dress uniform. It would be nice to see more of that in armor. I also realize this is a fantasy game and many people like armor that doesn’t adhere to realistic limitations that historical armor would have.
So one of the obvious questions is, new armor, where and how should it be acquired. Sure they could be put into the gem store. Maybe future dungeons. But what about as WvW incentive? I’m not a huge pvper, but I have friends who are, but even for them there needs to be more incentive to go battle for our server. As I understand it, there are ranks in WvW; Invader = Legend, then it breaks into Tiers: Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Mithril, Diamond. What if a new armor skin was added at the end of each tier. Someone who achieves the rank of Bronze Legend could barter/purchase a new/cool looking armor skin. Some physical manifestation to show off their rank and hard work. I notice that the 2nd WvW season has new weapons skins coming out. For me that’s a bit of incentive (aside from achievements) to go WvW.
Lastly just wanted to post some Aion examples of armor type designs to maybe better get my suggestions across instead of relying on my poor verbal skills. Also I apologize to the Charr/Asura players as this would be easiest to implement to human/norn race, though I too would love to see more Charr clothing.

“Do you have any shinies?”
Skritt are my fav race next to Asura Really hope they will be playable one day.
I remember the anticipation and excitement in GW1 when one of my characters had a birthday and a new minipet was waiting in a nicely wrapped gift box. Now, in GW2 all i have to look forward to is my 4th Queen Jennah….that I can’t even auction off. :/ Would like to see random minipet gifts brought back. I don’t even care if they are rare or not.
I would love to play Scritt, Tengu, Largos, Quaggan. In that order.
Glad I’m not the only one who seems to have a problem with this. Most times I can’t see the enemy boss so I have have to guess when to dodge (most times its too soon or too late). A feature to turn off others graphical effects would be awesome. or maybe make the outline of enemies very distant no matter what kind of effect is going on. Here is me in todays Dwayna fight. Glad I play a range…
Good luck with the first person. people been asking that for ages. I too would like to see it but I think Anet feels they have more important things to work on right now. Like new content every two weeks…which I still think is too often.
I too have trouble finding anything using this forums search feature. It seems very very picky about how you type anything into it to find. 90% i get 0 results for anything. Also typing in results and it auto searches take me out of the window is really annoying, especially if i was just trying to delete a typo and retype in the search bar again.
Talking with a bunch of friends, we came up with a few quality of gameplay suggestions that help ease gameplay:
- cast bar on bosses.
Some bosses in the middle of a zerg are nearly impossible to see due to all the skill effects, bright lights etc. Would help to see boss long cast skills to dodge of react in appropriate manner.
- distance meter
Some small counter or something next to a highlighted target to tell you how far you are from a target. Would help with charge, leap, jump toward skills so a player doesn’t overshoot or undershoot toward a target.
-fast swap gear/weapons
keybind or some feature, maybe a customizable/movable UI interface window you can toggle on or off that allows a player to swap armor or other weapons then the ones currently equipped. Helpful in between fights if a person needs to swap out a different weapon/armor set. Especially if you inventory is full and don’t have time to look through everything.
Not sure this is a hardware problem or something within game but several other people I talk to have this same problem. Makes it really hard to see what animation any bosses do. I’ve tried adjusting LOD and other graphics within the game but nothing seems to change. Any suggestions?
Sounds like speculation. Things can change very fast within a company. If it is true I think Anet should drop NCsoft and go with a different distributor.
I personally would love to have Cantha return. I can only imagine the environment would be gorgeous. It was pretty in GW1, would be fantastic with GW2. Cantha has so much potential for content. Since the new Emperor Usoku went all xenophobic, a living story centered around getting to Cantha either by ship or maybe an underwater expedition and accidently awakening the ocean dragon. Or maybe trying to establish negotiation with the Emperor on opening their borders or something would sound like so much fun! Or maybe start a coup with the remaining Luxons/Kurzicks or Tengu on overthrowing the emperor and putting a nicer one on the throne.
I really enjoyed the Marionette boss, the only thing I had an issue was when I’m clear across the map, not even participating in the event, didn’t even know it was going on, minding my own business fighting a champ near Scarlet’s Secret Lair and I get zapped dead by the Marionettes laser. -.-
I like the fishing idea, and think it it was implemented into a type of mini game could be quite fun. I would like to see other more involved forms of resource gathering that’s more involving. Gardening would be cool too when they implement housing, being able to start out with basic plants, then as you gain gardening experience be able to grow more exotic/rare stuff.
I think it would likely if they ever made another class it’d be heavy because they only have two heavy armor classes. I’d personally like to see a paragon brought back.
Both my armor sets have the runes that give speed on heals. also i’ve begun using the focus more mostly for phantasmal warden damage but the run speed is nice, would be nicer if they made it last longer. Or like someone else mentioned; change signet of inspiration into a speed signet like the ele one.
I would soooo love to have halberds, I love polearm weapons! I played a captain in lord of the rings online and they used halberds. and I agree that guardians, warriors, and possible rangers should be the classes that use them. maybe if anet did incorporate them into the game, give them longer reach and a chance to give enemy a reduced armor rating debuff. make it a skill, like rend armor or something.
I’m all for adding more and more detail to make the world look like a real place, but I also do understand that they do have limited employees and time. So many a little bit over a long period of time would be nice.
I like this idea. Aion had something similar, using certain pets to alert when enemy is near, or extra storage, etc.
I use either divinity or rata sum as my home bases mostly because LA is so laggy with so many people (also I find the other cities more visually appealing.) Wish their were separate gates in spvp to allow going to different cities directly instead of having to go to LA gate hub. When they ever implement housing, would be awesome to have a home teleport to whichever city you’ve decided to live in.
I applaud this idea. I like it and hope anet implements something like it in the future.

As for the npc speech bubble, i didn’t realize you could turn it on or off till now. I guess i’ve had it off the whole time. :P

I did get into the secret lab room, all that’s in there was a control panel you sabotage, which if you turn around can listen to the npcs outside trying to figure out whats going wrong, was quite interesting conversation between them. then you get the achievement.

So after many (9) hours i finally reached world 3. Since I doubt few people would record gameplay just to pause it to translate it, here is an approximate translation (Some of words seem to be partially spelled, so i extrapolated what they were not sure if this was intended for some reason)
I’m the genie of the box
you’ve beaten many dangers, you
should be rewarded
Moto wont tell you this
but there’s a secret way to win
the super adventure
find the hidden code on the
rock. with the code seek out
the secret entrance
you can find the lab near
research waypoint. in the depths
of Rata Sum.
you must defeat the true enemy’s
machine.
destroy the true enemy’s machine and you will win.
go forward. [(be the wi) not sure what the rest of the word since it seemed to only end with two letters, i’m think its winner but unsure]
I too would love first person view, aside from the reason mentioned about looking around especially in confined spaces during jumping puzzles, etc. But some of the world/places are so beautiful that I want a screenshot without my character in it all the time.
Aside from the karma and xp for WvW, there really doesn’t seem to be anything worth while to get for the honor badges. The weapons and armor seem meh. Would like more incentive for WvW besides the fun of fighting other servers. Some cool pvp armour or weapons that you can only get from WvW, or maybe use them to unlock more guild emblems or something. As for the orbs, instead of stat and combat boosts, a more pve component for owning orbs I think would be better, like more xp or better loot drops or something.
