These rewards are just a stepping stone for what is to come in the feature build. Try not to overanalyze these current rewards and sit tight. Unfortunately we cannot grant retroactive rewards with this type of change but just wait to see how we deal with this come the feature build! I can’t say anything further regarding that because it’s just way too big of a spoiler, but information is coming soon.

Will there be any difference if we start opening our chests now, or should we hold for the maintenance patch next week before doing that?

There’s no real difference if you just wait. Just be aware you won’t be able to earn more glory if you are short on anything.

I suggest to open all your chests, don’t just leave them unopened as they will be deleted.

Deleted on the March 18th patch or in the feature patch after?

Feature build is when that stuff will happen. This patch is primarily just to stop allowing glory to be earned… along with the other vital implementations/changes we are making to how rewards are earned and which rewards those will be.

Okay, new question!

Will large reward boxes still offer crafting materials? If not, it seems like some players would prefer the medium over the large, depending on their preferences.

EDIT: Wait, I believe champion’s bags already have high level crafting materials in, right? If so, a different question: will players be able to get lower tier materials at higher ranks?

Tier 5 crafting mats are included in champion bags. Additionally ascended dust tier 5 is included. That being said, no, lower tier materials won’t be granted in large chests… But…sit tight for the feature build if you are worried regarding that.

No, I think she got it. What she was saying was a straight stat boost would be hard to balance between pet vs non-pet vs other classes. On the other hand unique effects for stowing the pets (ie aspects) is more lateral power and thus easier to make competitive, each having its own niche.

Permastow is not impossible. I never meant to give that impression, so I apologize if I did. However, as far as priorities go for the Ranger, it is not high on the list. Why? Because it would require an entire re-balance of Ranger, but if we re-balanced, then the players that do play with the pet would be OP. See the dilemma there?

Thank goodness. I am confused about something though, why would perma stow make pets op? I figured that something like a damage boost would only occur while the pet was stowed. I don’t think that the skills themselves would need to be changed, just a %stat boost that would give the approximate damage that the pet gave.

The reason why I latched onto the aspect idea was because it was an option that seemed we could maybe work around. Rather than having to rebalance the whole class, we’d just have to balance the aspects to be similar to what the pet does damage-wise. That seemed a little more viable.

I thought that aspects was basically the equivalent of perma-stowing with a stat boost, an F2 skill by family and glowing particles to show which aspect you were in. I don’t really understand how this is dramatically different from perma stowing with a damage boost while stowed.

Perma stow wouldn’t make pets OP. In rebalancing for permastow, it would make those that still want to play with the pet op. THAT IS, unless we design something that gives the player a boost to balance it out.

Perhaps, but what people were suggesting was a rebalance of the class to make up for the current state of pet AI. In essence, that would mean tweaking the numbers of all Ranger traits and skills to account for the lack of pet. However, that would not be fair to the players that still want to play pets, as we would essentially be talking about completely removing the pet at that point.

What we won’t do is remove the pet from the class completely.

Here’s a bit more information to clear the air on this stuff coming in for this next patch:

What will be in the rank chests?
We are exchanging out the old rank up reward chests with three new rewards chests based on the level you are.

Here are the thresholds:

  • Ranks 1-9: Players will earn 1 Small Reward Box each time they level in this tier
  • Ranks 10-29: Players will earn 1 Medium Reward Box each time they level in this tier
  • Ranks 30-80: Players will earn 1 Large Reward Box each time they level up in this tier

Loot table for rank up reward boxes:

  • Small reward boxes will contain random crafting materials and stardard loot
  • Medium reward boxes will contain 1 scroll of knowledge(skill point) and rewards similar to the small chest but in the next tier loot table above it.
  • Large reward boxes will contain a tome of knowledge(1 PvE level/skillpoint), 5 champion bags, and 5 scrolls of knowledge (5 skillpoints) each. Tier 5 crafting mats included.

What are these guild tabards?
Sorry for the confusion but these are just the same items that were on the rank vendors. Tabards, banners, back pieces, regardless the name, they are NOT capes. The “back banners” will still be there until the feature build but the reason we put them on the glory vendor was because we planned to previously remove the rank vendors entirely for this build, meaning they would no longer be available. Having these vendors should give you all some more time to get anything you don’t have yet and help with inventory management. Both the rank vendors and glory vendor will be removed upon the feature build so make sure you do this. I suggest to open all your chests, don’t just leave them unopened as they will be deleted. Either way, don’t be too alarmed because tons of new rewards are coming. Even PvP specific ones!

What about salvage kits?
The salvage kits on the glory vendor have been changed to cost a small amount of copper instead of being sold for 100 glory. The salvage kits on the rank vendors will remain 100 glory until the vendors are removed themselves.

Hope that clears some questions up!

Hello Support staff, Gaile Gray,

My account name is Sexyboy.6274.
It has past 4 days, I barely got a proper reply..
I’ve sent tickets:
434963: Guild wars 2 account terminated
442664: Still no reply after 48 hours &
441033: Account compromised

I’ve explained that I’ve not violated any User Agreement and Rules of conduct and also showed some evidence that my authorization email is stating other country when I was trying to log in. Here’s another the issue, I received an “Authorize log-in attempt” from China. A friend of mine informed me that my character is logged on as online. This is really strange, as my account is terminated yet someone is still able to log in.
I tried being patient, but this is getting out of hand. It is frustrating as I cannot do anything about it. I really hope this can all be resolved as it is clearly not me at all!

I would appreciate it if any, help could be consolidated in this particular area. Thank you for the time and kind understanding.

You know its a good update when after playing internally, you go home to play the ‘older’ game on live and wish you were back at the office.

Will it have every feature you guys want? No patch ever will. It’s still an awesome patch for the entire game.

I have the same problem as “otherworld.4012”. Deleting the users/myusername/library/guildwars2 folder does not work. Neither using the terminal to repair.

I think that only applies to IPs blocked from posting on the Wiki. It’s a guide for the Sysop.

If you can’t remove the blocked IP from your Account Page, I think you will have to contact CS, and explain the issue there. After answering security questions, most likely, they will assist you. Good luck.

Please remember everyone, that fractals is supposed to be the place where the top of the PvE community can come to test their skill. Lore/puzzle mechanics can work in the background, but they need to make way for skill-based encounters.

I’m curious for some dev feedback on this. Here’s what I see on the release pages…

I don’t have a ton of time to dig up more quotes, but I get the feeling the point of Fractals is that they get harder as you progress, not that they are for elite players only. There are – and should be – lots of reasons to play Fractals. There’s nothing wrong with creating content that might appeal to a wider player-base, though I agree that it needs to be done carefully. (For example, there’s no reason to force people to watch cutscenes.) Perhaps some of the alternative paths disappear in higher levels?

If you want Fractals to get more development attention, maybe a good start would be making them accessible to more players? If content is designed for 1% or less of the player-base, doesn’t that mean it will be mostly ignored by the devs?

Just a few thoughts.

I have to say, I think what most high-level fractal regulars came here to do is complain about rewards, gear-gating and dredge and suggest higher difficulties, new interesting encounteres and revisions to old ones. But what it has come to is a lot of people, who I imagine don’t do the highest levels very often, suggesting things that don’t have a place in fractals at all or are directly against the wishes of the regulars and will only make things more tedious and uninteresting.

Here is the design pillar for Fractals:

‘To provide a highly repeatable 5 man strategic instance experience that scales in difficultly as you progress in fractal levels whilst providing the opportunity to tell old and new stories from within the Guild Wars Universe.’

Fractals are designed to be accessible to all and to offer a wide variety of different emotions and experiences regardless of ‘Skill’ level.

No one category of gamer owns the Fractals.

The CDI is a ‘Community’ Design tool that allows like minded individuals to brain storm and discuss areas of the game they are passionate about.

If you want to make a valuable contribution you would do well to understand both of the above concepts.

Meanwhile please understand that none of the ideas put forward infringe on ‘your’ space.

Thx again Gaile I have not sent a ticket coming to the conclusion I am lacking a lot of account proof I just want to come with everything I can to fix this issue I think I my have made a mistake or 2 while trying to link. So am currently recovering the old email password and try to login gw1 a couple more times.

I apologize to anet for making my lack of account proof and lack really knowing how to take care of this the right way out to be their fault when it is not at all.

Torath, I think the best source of answers for you, if the KB Article is not detailed enough, is a ticket which an agent can answer personally. Accounts and their linking properties can be a little different in some cases, so it’s best to submit a ticket and you can ask the questions as they relate to your account, and not accounts in general.

What is the feature build “logged”?

It means it will be fixed in the next release the skills and balance is directed to ship, barring any issues that prop up and push it back.

This is not a known issue. There’s a number of different reasons why you may be crashing and so in order for us to better assist you one on one, I highly recommend creating a support ticket in regards to this issue.

Hi Inferno Bartron,

More than likely the issue is with your ISP as you’ve guessed since this issue only started occurring after your move, but it definitely wouldn’t hurt to get in contact with them to see if there’s anything that they could do for you.

Beyond this, if your ISP is not willing to help you out or doesn’t think there’s an issue on their end, you could always try a VPN as this alters the route your connection takes to reach the game servers, and it may help. Obviously it’s not the most ideal solution though I highly encourage you to get in contact with your ISP.

If you create a shortcut to Guild Wars 2, right-click the shortcut and select “Properties,” if you add the “-diag” (without the quotes) to the end of the Target line, you should be able to generate a network diagnostic report upon starting the client. This report should give you a couple of traceroutes which should show you a couple of traceroutes and that should show you where you’re getting packet loss in your connection, if any.

2. Google DNS

3. Router bypass

Technically, it’s against the current Guild Wars 2 Content Terms of Use for people to make money through such things as monetizing a Guild Wars 2 video. However, we support people sharing their experiences with our game. Hi Hyacithe,

What specs are you working with? Specifically, CPU, GPU, RAM, and OS version?

In addition to this, I would like for you to delete the Guild Wars 2 folder located within your Users library folder. You can do this by following the instructions below:

1 Click on the “Finder” icon located in your dock or the desktop of your computer to make “Finder” the active program in the Finder menu bar.
2 Hold down the “Option” key on your keyboard while clicking “Go” in the Finder menu bar. A dropdown will appear.
3 While still holding down the “Option” key, click on “Library” in the “Go” dropdown.
4 Once in the Library folder click on Application Support > Guild Wars 2
5 Move the entire Guild Wars 2 folder to the trash and then empty the trash.

The next time you launch Guild Wars 2 it will create a new version of the folder that you deleted.

Hi there!

I would like you to try a command line argument we have seen resolve this type of issue.

Please go to your shortcut for Guild Wars 2 and right click it and choose properties.

In the line that says Target, add a space at the end of whats there and then -prefreset

It should look something like this: “C:\Games\Guild Wars 2\Gw2.exe” -prefreset

Click apply and then ok.

Once the above is done, try launching the game and logging into the character you are having issues with. If this resolves the issue, go back into your shortcut again and remove the -prefreset line.

It ultimately comes down to a similar issue to that with the dolyaks, which is that the game isn’t able to track who is escorting a dolyak unless they do something like kill another player which doesn’t usually happen. Until we fix that gap in the game’s knowledge of what is going on, we can’t accurately reward players.

This statement is confusing. At launch, an “Escort the Dolyak” event existed which rewarded karma on successful completion. That reward/event was removed from the game because bots were scripted to farm the event by following the yaks. The bots received the reward without having to engage in combat.

It was great fun while it lasted because real players could farm the farmers who either didn’t fight back or fought poorly. Was hilarious to watch 12 bots slowly walking along beside a yak only to be mowed down by real players.

Of course, this had to be removed from the game. However, historically, it appears the game is capable of tracking who is escorting a dolyak.

I think if you examine more closely what you just said, you can see the problem. The progress was being given to anyone standing around near the dolyak when it ended its path. That is hardly accurately tracking who helped it out. Without a good way to know who actually helped, we can’t provide adequate rewards.

I’m fine with that, then. I have always enjoyed uncategorized, and Maw. I just thought you meant SAB platforming.

I enjoy all three varieties of platforming, but I think simple and forgiving platforming is more suitable in Fractals. When I play something like the Snowblind Fractal, it bores me because there’s not that many height differences. Apart from the initial descend, there is not a single moment when you have to jump on to something. Same for Urban Battleground, not a single jump. Not even an easy one.

Thaumanova at least goes up and down a bit. And Cliffside is almost entirely vertical, which is also great.

Well, there’s no real reason for every fractal to feature the same platforming jump mechanic, that would get pretty stale for most people fairly quick. I honestly like Urban the way it is, apart from desperately wanting to build my own siege to take over Ascalon. I mean, I summon my golem suit just to pretend I’m doing it. Urban is my second favorite fractal, because it’s so vivid, and we know where it comes from so well.

I like Urban to. It is probably my favorite because it has great lore executed very well, and a sandbox style approach to path and combat.

I to would love to be able to have siege in this fractal (-:

Underwater is largely a puzzle fractal, along with swamp. I find Underwater lacking entirely of interesting mechanics. Even the final boss is basically harmless. I would like to see an additional underwater fractal, but one that doesn’t have the gimmicky feel of, say, the dolphins, but one that entices exploration and interesting combat. The plants, I think, would be cool if they had some sort of relevance to the boss (like cliffside and seals). I dislike the “fractured” (pun intended and now i’m sad) nature of many fractals. I personally don’t care for puzzles, because they basically reward nothing, and whether players are in it for the rewards or not, I would rather be rewarded through the fractal with bonus objectives rather than unscaleable path puzzles that lead you to an unrelated boss.

Personally I feel the environmental puzzle aspects of Underwater are a little to much. The fractal itself adds variety in regard to the mix overall but I think it is better to get the balance right with any given fractal than have fractals themselves swing to far in any given direction.

I would prefer the Jellyfish to be more challenging also.

I get it the audience is primarily smash and grab. That’s why when I initially suggested them, failure would quickly move you into another fractal at that tier. Puzzles and other far off the beaten path challenges could be introduced in a way that if you suck at jumping/hate puzzles/just wanna kill they wouldn’t bar your progress more than a couple minutes tops.

The other option remains to incorporate them as short cuts within traditional challenge structures. Imagine an update to the Snowblind fractal when upon approaching the Ice Elemental there is an alternative to harvest X trees, and a crafting station when a player with Huntsman or Artificer of at least 300 can process them and you throw the results at the elemental starting a bonfire that kills it instantly. You can fight or you can chop some lumber if there’s a suitable crafter present.

We basically already have jumping puzzles to skip parts of the Underground Facility fractal, with all the ways people work around the first two gates . Instead of putting up invisible walls in every corner, you could actually formalize it as an acceptable alternative…

Another good paradigm for us to think about when we work on Fractals. Thanks.

Apparently you did not read his post at all. Because if you did you would realize he is talking about cutting down trees in what is supposed to ‘challenging’ content. Also, the last thing we need is more GW2 endgame that consists of us staring at the crafting menu.

Incorrect Dommmmmmmmmm.

I did in fact read it and personally i like it, specifically:
