Hello everyone.
Yes, Mixon, if you picked up already a server and want to transfer to another one, you will need to pay the gem fee. As the question has been solved, we proceed to close the thread.
Nice post Folly. I agree with your points overall, though I’m going to speak primarily to your points about communication, community involvement and transparency.
The trick with our communication, is to find a good balance, on multiple levels.
First, we have to be conscious of the balance between how much time we have to be posting on the forums and writing blog posts, with how much time we have to be working on actual development: bug fixes, profession balance, designing new features, implementing new content, etc.
Next it’s important for us to be conscious of the balance between saying too little, leaving people pessimistic about when things are coming out and guessing about how those things will work, and saying too much, harming our ability to later change, postpone or abandon something that we’ve already publicly committed to.
Finally we need to consider the balance between relying on community feedback too heavily, where it’s super time consuming for us to process and leaves us feeling unable to make a change without first asking for a community vote, and relying on community feedback too little, where we might miss some key information that could impact the success of our future releases.
Hopefully we are getting this balance pretty close most of the time, and if not, it’s always something we are working towards improving.
Anyway, keep up the good, constructive posts!

In the upcoming patch, there will indeed be changes to paid tournaments, however the addition of gem rewards is not one of those changes. Stay tuned for more details.
That seems pretty unlikely. There are several reasons, one of which is that it would hurt clarity. You’d no longer be able to glance at a guy in heavy armor and immediately he’s a warrior or a guardian.
No, sadly, I won’t be there.
At the moment, there’s no mechanism to do this, sorry.
Just a quick note—I said the odds of it dropping was closer to .005 than the 1 in a million or so that was tossed out. Those aren’t the exact odds, but if my math is correct, 10 players running the event every day might expect one staff to drop after about 7 months. (And we haven’t been out that long.)
We are carefully monitoring the forced-password changes, and I promise you, we are seeing very few tickets. Having said that, if you do submit a ticket, I believe it will be handled very promptly, and we want to help you if you are having any difficulty at all.
Go to support.guildwars2.com, use “Ask a Question” or email support@guildwars2.com and the team will help you.
I’m very sorry for your unhappiness and do not mean to sound as if I am discounting a single person’s feelings of frustration, confusion, or helplessness. If you are having issues, please allow us to assist you; it will be best for all concerned if you have a new password and if we make it easy for you to do that!
Thank you for understanding.
Sounds like a plan!
And if anyone sees a lost/confused Norn named Cortez Peters, be nice to him! I have already been overwhelmed by the kind players in game – mesmers helping my dad get to places he can’t jump, fractal parties carrying him through, and guildies sending him materials (as a former metal worker, he loves crafting above all else).
That is just awesome to hear, Eosin. I am never surprised by the kindness of our players, and these stories are daffodils and rainbows to me!
After the week for the new map (which is a good idea
) is there any chance we could get a random rotation of maps?
Everyone I know gets sick of the same map after about 4 days. We love all the maps. They are great. But too much of anything sucks. Give us rotation!
The current tournament system doesn’t support random maps yet. Though we recognize that players would like more variety, so we might either rotate the map more often, or offer multiple 1-round tournaments, so you can queue for a specific map.
I am so sorry about the time you’re having to spend on this, but I admire your patience and loving kindness towards your parents. <3
For an extraordinary situation like this, I suggest the following: Submit a ticket (in your own name, with your own account details) and reference the 12-digit number of your father’s ticket as well. Explain in your ticket what you have told me here and note that we have discussed the matter in the thread and you and I are both hopeful that we can find a way to work around the issue (hopefully without yelling or bank-account checks ) in order to help your dad get the account back in his possession, with a solid password, and with a restoration, if needed.
Let me know how this sorts out, ok?
If your friend still needs help after three days, feel free to post in the Tickets for Review thread, which is at the top of this Account Support sub-forum. Please provide any and all ticket numbers. Also, please ask your friend to check for replies on the website instead of through email. If his email is compromised he may never see the responses.
Go to this link and open the Support Account related to the tickets. Also, he can check Spam, Junk, and Deleted Mail folders to make sure that the responses are not getting blocked.
So I have reported a certain youtube user over a month ago
Please provide the ticket number(s) in which you’re made these reports, so that I can follow up. Thank you.
Support has answered my ticket, so I think things will be sorted out now thanks..
I am glad that this got sorted out. Thank you for letting us know that things are fine now.
I linked my GW1 and GW2 accounts on the account management page, my question is do you have to have the Eye Of The North Expansion to get the benefits of the two accounts being linked together? I have all the expansions of the original GW1 except that one,
Yes. The only carryover is earned through the Hall of Monuments, which is available exclusively in Guild Wars: Eye of the North.
As far as I can tell, the support system is operating just fine. So you should go here and submit a ticket through the “Ask a Question” tab on that linked page.
If that doesn’t work, you could try submitting an email to support@guildwars2.com.
I just wanted to reply to the post from Gaile to point out that the blacklist is actually more extensive than was outlined in her post.
I understand, and that seems to be true. There are a nearly-infinite number of potential passwords, so hopefully everyone can choose one that suits him or her and all will be well — and more secure — in the future.
And to top it off I can’t even create a support ticket because that system is broken too.
The system is operating just fine. If anyone is having difficulty setting a new password, please Go here and submit a ticket through the “Ask a Question” tab on that linked page.

and I disagree.
And you may disagree, but you still must change your password.

I guess Smooth Penguin has a point there. Hopefully this will lead to suspending all Accounts which have names which are anagrams to any inappropriate word. Let’s start with White Shore, Whacky Shore and Pong Lenis since they match this pattern
And I am also proud to report that my account has now been suspended for 72h for use of an unacceptable name. Did I just miss the account suspension for Mitch Bassacre (I was justed asked to change the name) or are those 72h for a “repeated” felony ?
Defending poor choices by pointing at others isn’t a defense or a justification. Certainly as other inappropriate display and character names are observed, noted, or reported, they will be dealt with as well. I’m just a little surprised that someone would post “I don’t know what I did” when they have four offensive names.
You should check again. You are not suspended. Consider that a kindness and, as I said, for future names… choose wisely.
Ok, so swap the letters in the first and last names and it’s NOT a nice name so the block holds and you need to rename the character. In addition, another name has a reference to human anatomy and it has been censored as well and a third and fourth have used the “let’s be cute by switching the first letter to hide a naughty name” elements, and they have been censored. The team is looking for others now.
I would strongly encourage you to take care with your name choices in the future. Continued use of offensive names can result in a lot more than a rename or even a brief suspension; you can find your account terminated.

Sorry, I didn’t have time right now to read the whole thread, but I’ll throw this at you. In the past 72 hours well over 30 dusks have sold to and from different individuals.

Any official reply to this would shock the precursor market. All I can say is we’re watching.
Thank you very much for the report; we’re looking into this now!
As a side-note, if you encounter any similar borderline-exploits, feel free to email us at exploits(at)arena.net as this brings it directly to our attention.
This thread will now be closed.
Please note that if you opened a ticket more than 3 days ago and still haven’t received a reply, we also have a thread monitored by the Customer Support Team where you can post your ticket number for review.
Thank you for your patience, everyone!
We’re aware of and tracking this issue. Thanks for the report!
For the problem described by NastyNuggetz and Holden, do you have a lot of items in your pickup tab? Remember that gold works the same way items do in the pickup tab. If you have reached your limit, neither items nor gold will be added until you clear it out.
“You must login …” .. I’m LOGGED IN, I’m playing the game!!!
Had this for weeks and reported ages ago, fed up having to exit the game and restart simply to access the TP.
Kraggy, are you able to click the “Login” link when it appears and login through the account management page? I realize this is an inconvenience, but it might make it so you don’t have to relaunch the client when this happens.
As this issue has already been reported in the character art thread, this thread will be closed.
Thank you for the reports; we’re aware of and tracking these issues (each of them has their own thread that you can check for updates).
As noted in the Bugging Guidelines, lists of bugs are not very helpful to us, so this thread will be closed.
In situations where a guild bank is stolen by a guild member, Support generally is unable to get involved. We stay out of guild politics, and these cases can be quite complex. Player A may say “He stole our gold” and Player B may say “I took out only the gold I earned when I decided to start a new guild.” The game logs are detailed, but they do not make intentions visible and the “he said/she said” in these situations is intense.
Guilds should screen members carefully and make sure that the people they are inviting into the guild are trustworthy. For Support to try to “right a wrong” in this sort of situation is a nearly impossible task.
Why must I pay to change server? now I can not play with my friends who are on another server. I have characters in Lv 80 and I really do not want to delete them just so I can play with my friends. And even so I can’t play with my friends because I have deleted all my characters so I must start on new. why have you done this? And I know I have characters in lv 80, but it will take me ages to get so much gems.
Transfer fees were present in our beta tests, and were clearly stated as a provision of the game long before release. The team gave a long window of free transfers, but it was always intended that there be a transfer fee for characters to change worlds.
Some time ago I researched what other games were doing. Many of them did not offer server changes for any reason. I believe all of them had restrictions on transfers and several games had a charge in cash for a transfer. In a couple of cases, the transfer fee was $50 and players had to pony up cash because there was absolutely no means to earn the transfer fee within the game.
In the case of Guild Wars 2, you can earn gems in the game or you can purchase gems — the choice is yours. Also, you may elect to move to a world with a lower population, in which case the transfer has a very low gem cost.
I really encourage you to contact Support by filing a ticket through the “Ask a Question” tab on that linked page. They should be able to assist you. For tips on what information to provide in a ticket, please read this post.
If you find you still need help after three days, feel free to post in the Tickets for Review thread, which is at the top of this Account Support sub-forum.
I do also need to point out that items disappearing would be incredibly unusual. Oftentimes, when a player thinks an item is missing, s/he has forgotten that it might be on a character or a storage box and not on the main panel or on the specific character that the player believed held the item. So before submitting a ticket, I’d suggest going through the entire account — with the storage agent and per character; all bags, boxes, steamer trunks -- to see if the item may simply have been misplaced.
On release day, I made a character called “Ick Dass Thief”. Nearly 6 months later, I am suspended for it. The reason why suspensions are horrible is because I don’t even have any option to rename the character myself, thus either remaking it and throwing hours away, or get someone to report me for a bad name and get suspended for 3 days. How can you even endorse this kind of system?
The name — while very poor German -- does not appear to be offensive. It has been uncensored and the suspension was removed four minutes after the name was blocked so you are ok now.
(edited by Gaile Gray.6029)
Thanks for the update Mr Gray
Well, it’s Ms. Gray, but that’s ok. And you’re very welcome for the update.
But even better… Good news! After another review, we were able to find the compromise. This was a really complicated issue but when I saw some specific, newly-analyzed logs last night, I knew we had this one nailed. (Finally!) I’m sorry for the delay, but I know that several agents took a look at the issue and it truly was hard to determine what had taken place.
Anyway, you’re back in the game, the account is restored to the pre-compromise state and I believe you’re good to go. * happy dance *

Here are the updated world ratings as of the matchups ending on Feb. 15.
Any exploit that’s a “Jumping Puzzle” and doesn’t specifically bug out is legit in my books. As such I consider the mountain jump in CM legit. Skipping the fire in AC is legit. Standing on top of the ruin so Howling King in AC doesn’t hit you is an exploit.
Legit in your books isn’t legit in ours. The mountain jumping is an exploit since we don’t intend for you to be able to go up there, and it allows you to skip through the natural progression of content we made.
The drakeheads in AC were intentionally made with a cute little workaround, if that’s the other you are implying is okay. I hope that is the issue you are talking about at least, since there isn’t a whole lot of fire in AC.
We’ve updated the game for routine maintenance only. No content changes were included.
Hello everybody,
to discuss anything related to Loot drop please feel free to join the fowlloing thread: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Loot-Drop-Issue-Confirmed-Feedback-Thread
This one will now be locked.
There’s still no reason to kill champs, Colin. Blue does not good reward make.
Just a reminder, blue is the absolute minimum champs can drop, they have much better odds of dropping good loot than regular mobs, and once you’re properly getting kill credit for them hopefully this becomes more visible.
Colin – much appreciated that you are so active in the forums these past two days and that you took the time to post this.
It is good for the community to have this communication open.
Can we get an in-game tinfoil hat? I would proudly wear it everywhere on my Ranger.
I would love to wear one as well =)
It’s worth noting, the X-files conspiracy comment was directly responding to the theory something changed in the November release that made it all suddenly worse that has been perpetuated since Lost Shores. We confirmed nothing what so ever changed in November, as we posted after a complete investigation into all parts of that release, thus the comment. Probably not worded the best on my part, but please take the time to read the actual comment in context and don’t apply it to other situations that had nothing to do with the remark.
As posted within the loot discussion thread, we did exactly what we said we would do: we completed our investigation of the November release and all loot tables and found no issues what so ever, we immediately let the community know no issues were discovered from the changes in the November release.
We then expanded the search to other parts of the game, here we found issues that had existed since launch and have both let you know about them, and will be correcting them.
To those who theorized there were issues since launch with qualifying for loot, you were indeed correct and your tinfoil hat is justified, thanks very much for helping us find this issue! November however, remains an X-files level conspiracy that has been debunked. There ya go
Damage done doesn’t affect drops.
From Colin Johanson
it is still possible to kill a creature and not do enough damage to qualify for loot
Damage does affect drops, but does it also affect quality is what I’m asking.
Again, damage does NOT affect drops. It doesn’t matter if you do 2000 or 50000 damage, as long as 2000 is enough to tag the monster, anything above that is unnecessary, and has no effect on quality of drops or anything else.
Just want to quickly add that officially that is correct, damage simply determines if you qualify, doing more damage DOES NOT give you better loot. The fix we’re implementing should make it much easier for characters who trait/build for support to gain credit for loot drops in particular.
‘Scrybe’ is probably intentionally ironic,
Scrybe is my internet handle.
Could be wrong here but im currently watching this doc on netflix about an adventurer that got lost in the amazon named percy fawcett while searching for a lost city he called z or whatever. it could be the idea behind the 2 fawcett puzzles. funny really as im doing the puzzle now im like wait this guys name is fawcett hmmm. anyway could be wrong but he was an adventurer. but the fawcett in the puzzle seems to be more of a pirate or something.
That’s a funny coincidence I think. Pretty sure it was named after Justin Fawcett, the map artist who built the level.
I just looked into this. The problem is that you currently only earn the sword if you have exactly 10 HoM points. It might be too late for us to get a fix in for the Feb 26th build, but a fix will be coming.
Question: does Paid matches start up simultaneously? like, does it wait for a certain number of teams formed (obviously an even number) or a specific countdown before matching then pops up. Or does it pop up as soon as there are at least 2 teams formed? XD
I think it is an instant matchup. We have been in ts3 with two teams that que up within 10 seconds of each other and instantly matched against each other.
This is something we are working on improving.
Yeah, we’ll make Spirit Watch available in tournaments on patch day.
