You’re probably at the wrong entrance—the back door to the cave has a teleport field around it to keep players from accidentally doing the story step out of order. The front entrance is just down the path from where you helped the first team defend itself, the way is blocked but one of the team members will blow open a route for you.

They ‘Black Listed’ all the current/old passwords … so you’ll never be able to use the old one again … I think it was a ‘blanket blacklist’ so no one (without exception) can reuse their old password …

Although I understand the principle behind this particular case (they found a huge list of GW/GW2 passwords on the net, or something similar)

Sorta close, but I should probably explain: What we found was millions — I mean millions! — of stolen passwords out there on lists of exposed/ known/ exploited passwords. When we examined things more close to home we discovered that a lot of people use the same password for everything. This means if a hacker gets your Hotmail password, he also has access to your GW2 account, your bank account, and your account over at that comic book site.

We blacklisted any password that was “out there” as a known, stolen password, so that folks would not be able to simply fall back on the old tried-and-true (and hacker-known) password but would be required to make a new password that is more secure. This has been very effective in reducing account hacks, by the way.

If you wish to change servers without a cost, you can delete every character and then change worlds. Remember there is a once-per-7-days restriction on world changes — whether free or for a cost in gems — but yes, it can be done.

The transfer fee is for characters, not the account as a whole.

I’m sorry that you’re upset about the password change, but believe me, changing passwords, even just a bit, is worth doing and it definitely beats the alternative: a hacked account.

If you like your previous password, may I suggest you simply alter a small amount of components? For instance, if your password was d0gandCat, maybe you could use DoGandCat or something like that?

We’re sorry if you feel this is an inconvenience, but the passwords you’re trying are being refused, which means you’re trying ones that appear on “known/stolen password” lists. That puts you at quite a bit of risk of an account compromise. Being allowed to keep that password, or use the risky one, just isn’t worth it when you balance it against the pain and loss of an account theft!

If you lose connection and don’t see a message here in the forums or on the website, then it’s probable that the issue lies with (1) your ISP, (2) your hardware, such as the router, or (3) the Internet “backbone,” where entire regions or countries can have connection issues.

We have very, very little down time and, when possible, we post about the fact that we’re going to have down time in advance, such as here: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/info/news/Scheduled-Server-Maintenance-on-February-13-2013 or here: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/info/news/Billing-Maintenance-7th-Feb-5-00AM-PST-13-00-GMT.

In the first link, you’ll see we did have a period of time where players could not access the game. In the second, which is far more common, the notification is intended to tell you that you may have trouble buying gems or buying a copy of the game, but that the game itself is available.

Your find notifications in the News and Announcements Sub-Forum. You will also get info through Facebook or Twitter, but those are usually updates about smaller matters, like “We’re aware some players are having lag from XX location, and the devs are looking at it.”

As Grimrist mentioned, the damage for this skill is still going through — it’s just not displaying. While we’re aware of this issue, the fact that it still functions puts it at a lower priority to be fixed than some of the other bugs we’re working on.

Hi again Jereguy – I would recommend trying a couple of these tweaks to see if this improves your in-game performance at all:

1. Right-click on your desktop and select “Catalyst Control Center.”
2. Select “Preferences” and left-click “Advanced mode.”
3. Click the “Gaming” tab on left.
4. Select “3D Application Settings.”
5. Under the heading “Anti-Aliasing” checkmark “Use application settings” but do not check “Morphological filtering.”
6. Under the heading “Anisotropic filter” checkmark “Use application settings.”
7. Under the heading “Tessellation” checkmark “AMD Optimized.”
8. Under the heading “Catalyst A.I.” move the slider to “Performance.”
9. Under the heading “Wait for vertical sync” move the slider to “On, unless application specifies.”
10. Under the heading “Anti-Aliasing Mode” move the slider to “Performance.”
11. Click “Apply” to save these changes and then start Guild Wars 2.

Once loaded, access the “Graphic Options” window and make the following changes:

1. Change “Refresh Rate” to “60 Hz”
2. Change “Frame Limiter” to “60.”
3. Change “Reflections” to “None.”
4. Change “Render Sampling” to “Native.”
5. Enable “Vertical Sync” at the bottom.

Hi Mystletainn – Your Crash logs are showing CRC errors, what this means is that something has caused a file to be the wrong size and corrupted the installation. The first thing we want to rule out are issues on your drive.

Please do the following first to check and repair your drive:

1. Open Computer by clicking the Start button , and then clicking Computer.

2. Right-click the hard disk drive that you want to check, and then click Properties.

3. Click the Tools tab, and then, under Error-checking, click Check Now. If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

4. To check for both file errors and physical errors, select both Automatically fix file system errors and Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors.

5. Click Start.

Depending upon the size of your hard disk, this may take several minutes. For best results, don’t use your computer for any other tasks while it’s checking for errors.

Once that is complete, Please navigate to your Documents > Guild Wars 2 folder and in there you should see a file called Local.dat. Delete this file.

Once you’ve done that, I’d recommend running another repair on the client.

While a huge mail might raise a few eyebrows in the security reviews, that alone would not be at all likely to cause you to be suspended.

Your phrase ‘would not be at all likely’ is worrying, given its implications.

I am sorry if that phrasing causes you concern. I don’t like to speak in absolutes, saying, “That will never happen.” As pointed out above, humans beings are involved in account and transaction reviews and human beings can make errors. In addition, rarely, but within the realm of possibility, a player can misdirect a mail and think we’ve taken the mis-sent goods, data can become corrupted, and an asteroid the size of a Buick can flash over Russia. Not likely, but it could happen!

So I firmly believe that things will be fine and I’m very certain that if something untoward happens, the team can sort it out.

Hi Spock – What troubleshooting steps have you tried to resolve this issue? Have you tried a simple repair of the game client? If you’re unsure how to do this, I’ve provided the steps for you below:

1. Navigate to your Guild Wars 2 installation folder.

2. Right-click on “GW2.exe” and select “Create Shortcut.”

3. Rename this shortcut to “Guild Wars 2 Repair.”

4. Right-click on this shortcut and select “Properties.”

5. Edit the “Target” line to include -repair at the end.

Note: Please make sure -repair is outside of the quotes

Correctly Formatted Example: “C:\Games\Guild Wars 2\GW2.exe” -repair
Incorrectly Formatted Example: “C:\Games\Guild Wars 2\GW2.exe -repair”

6. Once completed, click “Ok” to save your changes.

If you get an error trying to save, your target line may not have the correct format. Please try step 5 again.

7. Double click “Guild Wars 2 Repair” to start the repair process.

Once completed, please try starting Guild Wars 2 again.

If this doesn’t resolve the issue for you, we may need your system specs and more diagnostic information in order to troubleshoot this issue.

World's first Sigil-less Legendary!

So, I crafted my Legendary few days ago, I didn’t have the gold for listing fee yet but now I have and it doesn’t let me put this item on the Trading Post. It also doesn’t let me “mail item to..” or “buy more from the trading post” when right clicking it. It is not been soulbound to any character, I kept it in my bank once I crafted it.

I did not equip it, description is still “Soulbound on use”
I do not have it in an invisible bag when I try anything.
I tried re-logging and all that jazz.
I tried putting it on TP with different Characters.
I only get “equip, preview & destroy”

In short; it is acting like it is an account bound item even though it shouldn’t be.
Can I get some help please?

I worked with a player who liked in England but got authentication requests from Wales and Scotland. One was nearly 300 miles away. The principal reason for cause if someone very distant to you, and I would not be concerned with a request for a city within a reasonable distance. To clarify, I’m looking for more information on when you experience a game freeze (i.e. game goes unresponsive, have to close the game via the Task Manager) as noted in the OP. Is this still happening?

On another note, if you’re crashing and receiving a crash report window, then that’s another, separate issue. You should submit the crash report with as much information as possible.

Hi Zuarasiz – Guild Wars 2 is very CPU heavy and it looks like your limiting factor here is your Celeron processor as it is really kind of borderline as far as minimum requirements go and technically does not pass.

After reading reports in the loot issues thread, we spent more time investigating our rewards system. As I mentioned a few weeks ago, we verified that all loot tables are indeed working correctly in the game. Since then, we continued receiving reports that there seemed to be an issue, so we extended our search to all systems that created opportunities for you to get items from loot tables. Here we found an issue that we were able to verify was consistent across everyone who reported problems:

The rules by which you qualify for credit for an event or for experience when killing a mob are different rules than those used to help determine if you qualify for loot. Some of these were set up to be unintentionally restrictive, and as such you could kill a creature with a lot of health (this was most noticeable on champions) and not qualify for loot, despite qualifying for all other credit.

For the February Flame & Frost: The Gathering Storm release we will be repairing this issue to ensure more players are capable of earning loot credit for kills. This should fix the issue such that you got credit for killing a champion, but received no loot from it. Once fixed, all champion mobs will correctly always drop 1 blue or better loot item, and all veterans will have a chance of dropping loot better than regular mobs as outlined in the November release. Please note, it is still possible to kill a creature and not do enough damage to qualify for loot (which is the only way you won’t get loot for a champion), it is also still possible for veterans to not drop loot at all, since they simply have better odds of dropping loot than normal creatures but no guaranteed drops.

On top of this, we’re also updating some of the loot in various areas of the game for the February release that should make specific areas more rewarding. We’ll cover this is in detail with the February release notes.

This is almost always caused by a full mailbox. There’s a bug where the X/10 mail display doesn’t count some emails, even though they will block new messages from arriving. Clear out your mailbox, and give the system a few minutes to send messages that have been queued up.

While I understand your meaning, I’d actually be more inclined to do it with a developer for the ensuing comedy. xD

Yeah, and upon retrospect, whenever I throw on my dev tag for a dungeon, people tend to show me exploits and point them out >.<
However I have been thoroughly amused at times. I tend to hide my dev tags when finding a PUG, and then halfway through the dungeon I will tag up, and watch everyone leave the instance within minutes.

What I’d like to see:

If the character dies, the camera starts to move on its own after a few seconds.

If the player takes control of the camera, that spin stops. Entirely. Player can readjust the camera once and then not touch it again, and the camera will not try to restart the spinning randomness.

That’s it. I don’t see a need for a game option here. If the player doesn’t mind the spinning camera, they can do nothing once their character is defeated. If the player doesn’t like the spinning camera, they can readjust it quickly and turn it off (until the next time they’re defeated, but that’s nowhere near as annoying as current implementation).

Sounds solid. I personally don’t want it to keep spinning after I’ve adjusted the camera either.

Which bug exactly? This thread mentions two separate bugs.

Does it matter which bug?

Yes. Some bugs I can fix on the content side (the ability to skip some steps as you explore), some I cannot (NPCs going through walls, which is art/code).

The Weth call: “This dungeon/boss is impossible!” That should get his attention.

That being said, dungeons are more about your personal skill and mastery than about gear. Sure gear helps – it either enhances your strengths or allows you the opportunity to mess up a bit without so much punishment. There are some encounters that can be a bit of a gear check, but overall it’s more about your personal skill. Solo is possible in certain paths – however some of them have required numbers mechanics: Like CoF path 3 where you need to light 3 braziers at once. Those may have a pre-req party count.

However, there are some “grey area” glitches that makes me wonder if something really is an exploit or just a very strange bug.

When in doubt, send us an email anyways, or post on the forums. We’ll inspect it and judge it, and then decide to do something about it.

But generally when it comes to exploits, use your best judgement. One of the things my momma taught me, is that “If you wouldn’t say it around your Grandma, you shouldn’t say it in general.” which I suppose can be translated into “If you wouldn’t do it with a developer in your party, then it’s probably an exploit and you shouldn’t do it.”
