On my solo attempts I have noticed that in many cases being ranged would me much much easier than melee. For example you can indefinitely kite many enemies or just zig-zag and avoid their every/most attacks. And a lot more reaction time and melee-only attacks/effects.
More mobile enemies, less fixated aggro and less straying projectiles would quickly balance it.
I’ll admit that the master of solo makes a darn good point
It depends on how well you move, and, again, class mastery. If I can stand -smartly- in front of something utilizing my skills to mitigate damage, then I don’t have to run around and use zigzag/circle strafing to overcome things. Again though, its a class/technique thing, and even then also dependent on the mobs you face.
In the case it is a 1v1 moment, it could be that you are the last survivor of your group on a boss nearly dead, or got ambushed by something while separated from your group. Dungeons are group play, but there are standout solo moments in them.

Me and my girlfriend stopped playing Guild Wars 2 around the start of January, maybe mid. We tried to get back into the game but every password we used for her hasn’t worked. We tried to ‘reset’ the password but no emails go through or I get the common “Error Contact Support” when trying to reset. Please can you manually reset her password or something? this is wrong, you need to look into this alittle further.
I play with this guy daily, and he does not hack… he lags out alot (and we all get to hear about it on vent), but otherwize it would be nice if you elaborate alitte on how you came to the conclusion that he was hacking… he hardly wvw’s, doesn’t have a legendary, and dies pretty regularly on our dungeon runs.
Please let us know what’s up, or at least let him know… we have a guild waiting for our officer to come back.
Your friend should continue the discussion in his ticket. Certainly the agent can take another look at the data, and if there was an error the account will be reinstated. I feel that would be the best route, rather than us discussing the nuts ‘n’ bolts here. Thanks for understanding.

Neither of those screenshots is at the highest point on the ark. There’s a stairway inside the small building on the deck of the ship, following it up will take you to the very top of the ark.

I’m not sure which section this fits but my enquiry is related to mailing gold to another account.
My girlfriend and I have been saving up to buy her Dusk, the last part she needs for Twilight, for a while now and we’re almost at the point where we can afford it. However I wanted to ask whether if mailing her around 300 gold would flag either of our accounts for bans, due to a perceived RMT transaction?
In the past we’ve sent a lot of small mails with various amounts of gold and rare items and not hit a problem, and of course the upcoming mail will have a message involved too… but I just don’t want either of us banned, naturally.
It would be great to know beforehand, thanks.
Are you in the same guild? You could consider using the guild bank, if you felt it was secure for this sort of transaction. While a huge mail might raise a few eyebrows in the security reviews, that alone would not be at all likely to cause you to be suspended. There are many elements that are reviewed, rather than just the amount being transferred.

As soon as you walk into your first dungeons as an inexperienced lowbie you come to the realization that the majority of encounters DO currently favor ranged combat because many bosses have melee-ranged AOE abilities that make it extremely hazardous and then there are fights where you HAVE to used ranged weapons regardless.
Well, I think the thing I take issue with in your reply is what I have put in bold, and how it is something I felt I said in my post. Its about class mastery. It’s easy as ranged to let other people who are melee pull aggro while you stand off to the side and range them – nobody is ever going to argue that. But in the situation that it is a 1v1 and you are left with either melee or ranged, and you have to fend for yourself, I prefer melee weapons and am way better at handling 1v1 that way.
This thread claims that dungeons favor ranged players, which I disagree with. Group dynamics favor ranged players due to them having to be less active in their damage mitigation, allowing them to focus more on damage output. In the moment of a 1v1 though, I feel melee is superior to countering and fighting back. Of course each class/weapon has its strengths and weaknesses in that regard, but from my personal experience in a 1v1, I draw my swords and get to work… but again, it’s all very situation dependent.

I really can’t give out any hints or information, especially since anything I say is going to be intensely analyzed. So I’m going to play it safe and not comment on the size of the boss, the chest, or the rarity of the boss. I will confirm that I looked in the game data and traced the item to its loot table to the chest that uses the loot table to the event that spawns the chest to make sure everything is set up. I can also confirm that it has a very low drop rate, so running the event 5 times or 10 times proves nothing.

Aside from specific incidents, this perception is due mostly to the increased strength of monsters in dungeons, and that people who melee are grabbing more aggro and holding it. People using ranged weapons have an easier time mitigating damage through movement and positioning, making them safer by default than the person who runs in to punch monsters in the face.
That being said, of the light/medium armor sets I play (I won’t even bring guardian or warrior into the fight since we all know they don’t have too much trouble in melee) I actually have an easier time on my mesmer in Melee than my ranger… due purely to how well a melee mesmer can mitigate damage and control. I don’t do as much damage, but I can survive with warriors and guardians for the most part.
I wouldn’t call dungeons as favoring ranged combat, it just depends on how you play. Monsters are dangerous to anyone of any range. A good test is to have some friends clear out some mobs, and try to 1v1 with a particular creature with ranged and melee, and see how well you hold up and survive (hard to longbow DPS while managing a monster eating your face). I often find my melee mesmer (sword/torch) holds up better than my melee ranger (sword/dagger), but it’s certainly varying levels of utility play and mastery of personal technique.
If the harassment is taking place in Guild Wars 2 (for example, through in-game chat, whispers, etc.) then please do contact our Support Team. If, however, the harassment is taking place outside of our game (as the subject line indicates), then I suggest that you contact the administrators or moderators of the site or system that is being used to commit the harassment. Support generally is not able to address external issues, although they will be able to tell you more when they review and respond to your ticket.

News flash: It’s no surprise when people say they want something for free.
Please understand that there is a means to address issues where a new player sets up incorrectly, and transfer costs can be kept very low by choosing a low-population world. Given I remember the day when someone paid $50 for a server transfer, the gem cost seems pretty ok to me.

What’s your current quest objective, and what exactly is happening? The original bug reported in this post happened in the first 20s of the story step, but it sounds like you’re hitting a big at the end.
I just checked “Dredging Up the Past” and Sieran wasn’t flagged to resurrect players. I’ve fixed that and it should go live in a future update—though I don’t have an ETA. Thanks!
I don’t have an ETA for when a fix will hit the Live servers, sorry! Disabling the boxes was the safest, quicket fix we could make, since that’s something we were able to do without requiring a new build. (Removing the box from the vendor entirely would have required a new build, since it would have involved a content change.)
As mentioned above, I believe I found the issue—Brogun could die to a condition (bleeding, poison) in between events, which prevented him from kicking off the next event. He was immune to direct attack, but not conditions, and it’s fairly rare—you have to kite a mob with bleeding attacks onto him—so we had a heck of a time trying to reproduce the issue. I’ve fixed that, but I don’t have an ETA for when it will be applied to Live, sorry!
Check your computer’s clock to make sure it’s set to the correct date/time/time zone. There’s a bug where the list of achievements will use your computer’s clock to determine which ones to display, even though the actual time is used by the server to track achievement progress. So the achievements you can’t advance might be ones from yesterday, or tomorrow.
i hope the new content is done smart and isnt “beatable” only with numbers of auto attack spammers.

Granted, there a bunch of different mission types and they all vary in difficulty. But given that this is guild content, we created some challenges that should hopefully require some decent coordination. And while the risen temple of Grenth is a fine example of very hard event, I think you’ll find that the guild content pressures you ways other than dealing lots of damage. A few missions haven’t even been completed by our internal testers yet (but they came extremely close).
A name change feature is definitely on the worktable. It’s difficult to say a release date with certainty, because sometimes a developer working on a project may have a few irons in the fire and priority changes may alter a release date.
I really believe this is coming soon. I don’t mean “sometime this year” soon but sooner than that!
I think you are wise to check with Support. Occasionally we find an account thief gets access and changes a password, but does not immediately strip the account. Better safe than sorry, and the team will help you resecure the account, if needed.
I believe you are hitting the security wall, so to speak, where we limit password attempts and password reset requests to prevent someone from stealing an account through unlimited attempts.
If you wait two hours and carefully type your log-in name and password, you should be fine. A large number of the tickets that we receive reveal that folks typo a lot. They may think they are typing the password on the account, but they’re off by a letter or number, or they forgot that they used a capital letter instead of lowercase.
Support will be happy to help you, but I suggest that you discontinue attempts (or at least wait a few hours) because repeated attempts will not be effective.

Yup when i registered very early it said for forum use and it wasn’t permanent so i put this on for my forum posting as i always do. I do not want everybody in game calling me Motavi as its not bad its just i am a bit of an altoholic and i would like something more broad to cover maybe my play style perhaps, or something different as opposed to ppl asking why my “main” Motavi Boomington is onyl lvl 30 and is hardly played all the time.
You will have the options to change your character names in the future, and that will address that question for you.
Those are interesting comments, but I will need to investigate what we truly say upon account creation. (Not what’s said casually or by other players, but actually in the creation system.) For example, I do not recall that we ever said the display name “was not permanent.” I also do not recall that we said in the creation process that the name was “for forum use only.”
I will look into the matter and if we are not messaging clearly, I will suggest appropriate changes so that players fully understand the purpose and use of display names. That doesn’t revise policy, and we’re not going to offer a free name change because there are many reasons to not do that. However, I will see if we need to clear up any messaging at the time of account creation. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

Just keep in mind that we don’t permanently ban anyone on the forums for first time offenses, the same goes in-game. The more inappropriate posts you report, the better the game experience will be.
