what amuses me is how people complain that sexy fantasy armour is not realistic…. but never complain that it isnt realistic that they can jump in the water in full plate and swim halfway across a zone…..

if there are no “brothers” how are the twins in one of the story lines explained?

maybe they had as much trouble logging into the Forums as I did (took about 5 tries and kept getting proxy errors). so they used twitter first?

…. because I would rather put red hot needles under my nails than PvP… I disike that sort of activity and the crowd it attracts that much.

I have never set foot in WwW, not even for map completion … in fact my best character only has 61%, I have explored every pve zone in the game, just not on the same character!

If Anet made a server cut off from all pvp activity in the game I would move there in a flash.

Started to get this too. can log in and load a character, but cant stay connected for more then 4-5 minutes.

I tried some of my older games (Everquest and Second Life) and had no problem connecting or staying connected, and Speedtest shows a great internet connection and ping so I don’t think its my computer or ISP.

I cant seem to get the boob slider to work in RL!

Trinity in Everquest was different. that was where you needed a Warrior, Cleric and Enchanter (for crowd control) … in your group or else you were severely gimped.

I was watching a guy train wolves on villagers walking the path’s in queensdale…. guess they were not getting killed fast enough for him so he was dragging the local animals down to the path’s to get the NPC’s killed faster…..

Sylvari have a great taunt, for whatever reason mobs hate turrets. I pop out my elite 5 turret mortors and they go straight for them ignoring me 95% of the time.

my gripe with this is, open the world map and try and point out where the www area is…. that’s right its NOT THERE!!!!!! …

The WWW maps are not part of the world at all. It would make more sense to add waypoints in Dungeons at least they are on the map…..

Just wanted to say that in Japan new years has been Jan 1st since the meiji restoration (1873 or so), though the Lunar one is still used in Okinawa.

in Everquest we would tell beggers to target our Avatar and type /D .. for Donate!!! ….

I love when people say Tons of people have left the game, NCsofts 4th quarter results sure paint a different picture.

They show great growth in GW2 revenue from the “golden days” of the 3rd quarter.

New games look so much better now. Tera is another one I think is beautiful, though it has a very different style from GW. Also looking forward to see some of the games coming down the line like Archage and Black Desert and even have high hopes for Everquest Next!

The world art has improved by leaps and bounds over the years.

I don’t know how you have your Keybinds set but I have set my DODGE to my mousewheel when it is depressed not rolled.
I no longer have to double click to dodge, if I am already moving in one direction I just click the wheel and I am dodging. It may give you a little bit of an edge to the default setting.

that’s a good idea! I will have to try that. being left handed the stock keyboard set up didnt work for me and I remapped it to the 0 key on the numerical pad as my right hand is usualy on the arrow keys. I use my little finger to Dodge, but that sounds much easier.

I have no problem dodging. I do the daily every day, and I have a 80 mesmer as well and use the dodge to create a clone too. I just dont use it in day to day play much on my main character my guardian was all I ment to say.

Sure you need to dodge in dungeons, but I rarely ever go into them as that sort of content dosn’t interest me. I already have a set look I like and dont need anymore skins to wear on my armour… I have sothing like 500,000+ points of unspent karma and have no interest in Legendaries or ascended gear as I just see them as fluff.

they have a test server in Everquest for the last 13 years.. and still many bugs go live…. it’s no guarentee that it will make things perfect.

not really. I run around Orr a lot as a guardian and never dodge. obviously I don’t solo champions but I can easily kill veterans and up to 4 or 5 regular level 80-82 mobs and never use a dodge… and I am only in green and yellow gear as well.

When big events happen I can never see my Avatar or even the mobs half the time as my screen is totaly lit up with spell effects so I would never know when i’m supposed to dodge anyhow. (thank goodness for leap of faith or i would be swinging at air most of the time!)

only think I saw that felt sort of like a cheat was when I was watching a guy train NPC’s with a Veteran mob so it would kill them and he could run back and ress them.

I’m shocked at how many people can’t dodge.

I can’t dodge. I really can’t. It’s a mechanic I can’t master.

I’m a ranger, so I can use a greatsword to get my daily, but I never actively dodge when playing. Ever. But I do get to use the trait for extra damage when your endurance is full. So there is a plus.

Please remember that post when people kick you from their dungeon groups.

I’m the same I don’t dodge (well) either (and i suck at jumping puzzles!)… so I don’t do dungeons….

I’m not asking for it to be removed from the game as I’m sure some people really enjoy rolling on the floor… but it’s something I will never be good at.

On my server map chat is always full and often funny to get involved in. If someone asks a question it’s answered 95% of the time. Guild Chat can be very social as well, but of course that cant be seen by everyone, and im sure varies from guild to guild.

I think also part of the “problem” is the combat system here in GW. I think back to Everquest where you just hit Auto attack or a marco button to cast a string of spells and you could keep on with your conversations while your avatar killed the Mobs….

Here in GW with it’s much more active combat style its hard to fight in a dynamic event and carry on with a conversation.

Though I think most would agree the combat here in GW is much more fun than the old “auto attack” system it kills most social interactions while it’s going on.

and don’t forget these are magical swords with all sorts of stat bonus’s .. who’s to say they don’t also give a strength bonus or weigh less then one kilo!

-Legendary
-Ascended
-Do monthlies/dailies

Just wanted to say, and i’m sure i’m not the only one. I do not care if I ever get a legendary… as I do not enjoy doing instanced content I do not do fractuals so do not care if I ever get any Ascended and I have yet to do any monthlies as I abhor any form of PvP.

But I would never come to these boards to complain about it as I find plenty of other stuff in this game to keep me entertained…. plus I can take on 4-5 mobs in orr with my Green and Yellow gear equiped guardian and win every time… what do I need better gear for anyhow?

Crafting 10 items involves very little effort. Even if you just started playing the game on that day you can get it done very easily. You just buy a pick / axe / sickle go harvest a few nodes and you can craft your 10 items starting from absolute scratch.

Again, this is missing the entire point. Non-crafters are not concerned with the daily’s difficulty. Everyone already knows “crafting 10 ingots” is easy.

Can a non-crafter skip that daily altogether? Sure, but until the choice factor is implemented, they’ll miss days of getting laurels for the duration of that time. Gathering resource nodes, such as in the previous daily set, was a terrific middle-of-the-road option for both crafters and non-crafters alike.

but i’m sure what you find fun In this game, many others don’t… you feel the game designers should only produce content that you … one single person playing would find fun and nothing else? This is not your personal game, it’s a MMO.

I think it would be impossible to find 5 things in this game that everyone finds “fun” to do for this….

heck even if they made it get the daily for just logging in you would get someone complaining “but it’s no fun to log in every day!!!”

Another point is who actually controls the dream? what is it’s source?

several times the pale tree says she is not in control of the dream and is mearly the caretaker… so where is it coming from? … the 6th Dragon as some have mentioned? … or maybe one of the still absent gods?

several npc’s in divinity reach say they are canthan, and in the lost sister human story you are even asked if your background is canthan. (I think mostly so your sister sort of looks like you though) … be nice to at least get a nod to the event in that city.

I would not mind if cosmetic raids were added.

As for those who would quit if raids were added, I totaly detest any form of PvP in MMO’s but I would not quit GW2 because it has PvP in it. I dislike jumping puzzles, but I would not quit GW2 because they are in the game.

why cant people just live and let live and not force everyone else to play “thier game”

I bet Anet just love it when people tell thier customers to “go away and play something else”

you have to log into the forums to see the splash at all too, someone just coming to this page without logging in will not see it and miss the message totally

I got 5 80’s so far, 2 level 80 guardians (one Human, one Sylvari), 80 Ranger, Elementalist and Mesmer. Highest warrior is just 40 and have not started a thief or engineer or Necro yet.

I’ve never been able to get GW2 to work well with kanna ingame either, though I often see people chatting in hangul.

at one point you could do the chests in Overflow and do them again when you got to go to your home server. but they changed that several patch’s ago so you can only do them once per character now.

I usualy do the these in LA at the end of my play day just to make a few extra silvers before bed, I think in all the times I’ve done them I got 1 or 2 yellow items, have not gotten an exotic yet.

Wonder where the Sylvari pirates fall. they dont seem to support the nightmare. and are definitly not following the dream. are they soundless?

my guardian with the branch head and olive green skin is called “Twiggy Greenwood” (yes I picked the thinnest famale form!)

Colin will have to get used to this, I think after every patch of Everquest over the last 12 years someone will come to the forums and compain that Spirit of the Wolf or that some favorite thing of thiers was secretly nurfed or that bards were broken again….

Human Guardian is Tamoe Gozen named after the legendary Female Samurai … Gozen is just a title like Lady in english.

Elementalist is Murasaki Hanabi (Purple Fireworks) and is a purple Sylvari
my green Sylvari Warrior with the branch head is Tsuigi Midorinoki (twiggy greenwood).

Did you do city zone completion too? thats worth almost a level and you can pop over and do Lions arch as well.

Also in Queensdale there are lots of areas not on the “heart” list to explore and get exp. .. did you clear out the bandit cave behind the graveyard with the chest in it? .. or the grub cave with the small jumping puzzle? .. how about the cave where you have to /threaten the door for it to open with the Veteran Ettin inside? .. or the wolf cave with the chest?

Doing all those will get you a nice chunk of exp and loot from the chests to boot!

was great for me! my guild decided to move en mass as they were mostly WwW players and our server was really sucking at it lately so they ran off to another server and left me a whole vault full of stuff!

was like winning the lotto!

repetative annoying sounds in GW is why I keep the sound off and Winamp on playing music I want to hear while playing on the computer!

people like to kill Dragons! (and other oversized boss’s) ..

I think back in the day I must have killed Nagafen and Vox in original EQ at least 100 times, long after I had any possible item I wanted off them… just because it was fun to do an “event” with other people.

Dragon events in GW2 remind me a lot of the old “pick up” raids in EQ.

I’n not sure the nightmare court are under a dragons influence. There are many references in the personal stories about Sylvari’s natural resistance to dragons corruption, and its also been pointed out there are no Sylvari risen anywhere in the game.

Also from what I have seen Nightmare will fight with risen if they run into each other, which indicates they are on a different faction.

You also see this this with Bandits/Pirates and the Hirathi, they also fight any risen which seems to indicate to me they are a 3rd faction in the game who are between the “good” races and the Dragons.

The only ones who definitly are on the side of a dragon from what I have seen are the “evil” Norn’s

This is just from my observations of course, and I will easily admit I am no expert in GW lore.

I have yet to do one dungeon in this game, have no trouble doing anything else I want in this game.

Plus I think the extra bonus you get from the Fract gear has no effect in PvP areas.

I just want the cool whip weapon they have!

is that an actual paperback book? or something from Guildwars 1 lore? I never played GW1 at all.

I sometimes feel, having gone through just about all the sylvari story lines, that the Nightmare Court is really the true nature of the sylvari and the Grove sylvari are the ones who are going against thier nature trying to be good.

the way they say that if someone becomes nightmare there is no way to bring them back… why is that? because they have had thier eyes opened to thier true nature?

Also Caithe in one story line kills a nightmare court recruiter you have kidnapped, dispite your character promising to release her for certain information (which she gives) .. certainly not the action of a “good” character. …

I also found it a bit suprising after her cold blooded murder of the girl your character dosnt even get upset…. you just carry on to the next story.

These and other clues from the game lead me to believe the Sylvari are really evil people who are being tempered by the Tablet …

found another example while running up to the Secluded Glen in Fields of Ruin I saw a male Norn NPC standing near, he must be an uncommon spawn as I have never seen him there before.

I talked to him and he just gives more Lore on the sylvari Kirran (sp?) who is buried there… and he confesses that he visits the grave often and even though “she was born of the night cycle, she was the brightest light in my life” ….

What also was interesting is after a minute or so, he walks up to the back of the glen and fades into the rock wall there…..
