Sounds like a L2P issue.. first dont play hotjoin and it will get better ! get a better build and maybe a better internet connection (?). I play a warrior too and all of my skills work perfectly ! I played alot of pvp in WoW before gw2 and i must say that gw2 is alot more balanced and less bugged than WoW ! gw2 pvp is really hard at first maybe that is why you struggle so much, play more and fights will gets better and easier ! watch some guides on youtube, it helps alot.

PS; sorry for my bad english, i’m trying my best

I’ve played this game off and on for years and the same bugs are here. Played an unranked match today and my eviscerates still continue to path poorly to either hit one of 15 pets on the map (gw2 loves pets in pvp apparently) or he jumps to a totally irrellevant direction. I’m trying to get you to realize that you can’t “learn” to not have your skills fail due to bugs.

They’re not bugs. This game isn’t a targeted ability auto lands game. It’s if the projectile or swung weapon actually connects with the target. You have to actually play with some skill and sometimes lead targets. If you want something more like what you want might I suggest SWTOR?

What about thieves running over oil slicks and earning a 45 sec CD on a skill?

I’ve played since beta and the same bugs that are in the game are still present.—-

I’m not really sure how I’m supposed to learrn the game better? Pathing on skills just simply doesn’t land. If I’m on an equal plane with a player and I hit X button on a skill. It should connect. End of story, save for if I an interrupted or blinded mid path during my “cast time”.

Launch Personal battering ram shouldn’t be flying out of my shoulder and say Out of Range when the target is 600 units in front of me, just because he changed directions of strafing when I fired the weapon.

Noobs? The only thing here to do is to hack the game to bolster flight speed and range to rival traited ranger arrows on all ranged and pathing skills.

Or if this is a bad Idea, Guardians can continue to leap half distance when I simply stand on top of a short hill. But if I’m the only one who hates game bugs in an action game. Tough luck on me I guess.

Hot join became a sad mess with team stacking and gankfests with a daily apparently encouraging it. Volunteering is a one shot death sentence to end up on a 1 v 5 from folks I don’t think want to fight if they can’t pile one person with three.

When I enter combat my character goes from rushing head on into battle with swiftness to literally prancing on his feet like a four year old, limping at walking speed against any class with accesible cripple and chill.

Eviscerates make me lollygag jumping backwards towards at a crate when I’m another plane (but I’ll probably leap and then be blinded mid hit anyway). Earthshaker Adrenaline decides to pound the mid air rather than the ground.

Launch personal battering ram flies 90 degrees to the right of the target. My thief runs over Oil Slicks to trigger a 45 second cooldown on skills that don’t even have cooldowns.

Tapping left to right very quickly, I dodge ranger arrows even at max speed yawning. I’ll get downed by DoT’s running to a safe area as 4 minions, 5 clones/phantasms and a coked up bird with two cats gnawing on my face come to finish me.

My killshot downs a player triggering an invulnerable state that can be immediately lifted up again by 2 other players.

Where is the action in this ‘action packed pvp’ when I skip to my opponent merrily to have my attacks not even land and pray to god every one of my skills does not bug up. How do you enjoy pvp folks? How do you take it seriously?

2-man kick system is abusive and needs to be changed:

It happens again today, in Ascalon Catacombs. The party is running a record time dungeon run, nothing is wrong. Then the instance owners says: “I hate NPCs” because Hodgins bugs up and won’t open the door for the 2nd scepter in P1. I then make a joke and say “Ever feel like the people you work with are NPCs?” He kicks me out of the party.

I reported him in-game but it did not ask me for screen shots so I thought I’d post them here. Is there a more appropriate place for a thorough report?

This player’s account is: allpowerfullone.8462

Seriously, the GMs need to read how abusive this is as it is a perfect example of what is wrong with the party kicking system. He prompts a kick and then someone seconds it for no reason and pay attention to how disrespectful this player is. More proof that it is more often the kicker, that should be kicked. Not the kickee.

Can I get some kitten justice on this for once? Or is a-net ok with this type of behavior?
Look how confident this guy is that arena-net will not do anything to him.

Pardon my french, What a Misogenist kitten. Didnt think players talked to female (or percieved) female players. Please GM’s at least do something about that boy’s ravenous tongue.

I tend not to complain about PUG’s for the sake of them…being PUG’s…

But I have to question some GW2 PVE’r intelligence for now…
Situation, AC path 1 Defending Hodges from Gravelings and destroying the mounds. Doing the duty as a Zerker, poppin those first two left mounds on the west side of the map.

Walk over to begin helping with the Eastern mounds that the zerker Ele’s are failing hardcore even with Ice Bows. Notice Hodges has near half life gone with no one taking the gravelings off of him.

Party leader threatened with auto-kick if anyone approached him and brought gravelings over. I had none on me so I go ahead and whack them to steal aggro to save his life.

Boop, kicked from party. Trying to figure out what flow of logic Party leader was following. Only able to determine her head was only good for a hat rack. Faith in Humanity damaged…slightly.

I dont complain about warriors or guardians, because they cant use gimmicky kitten to roflescape or stay alive forever.

Guardians have bunker. Ive been able to crack them down solo, but unlike plague form stopping 5 or 6 people indefinitely, stripa guardians stability, and you lock him down for 2 or 3 seconds and he cracks.

Warriors with their bulls charge ability? 1 STUN BREAKER, done. i cant beleive people even try to bring warriors into light.

My question, why isnt anyone mentioning how shorthanded engineers are? They bunker WORSE than warriors, and have no movement ability at all.

Map.

The maps are hideously tiny with virtually no line of sight. Its incredibly easy to become the center of focus fire for rofl ranged cc/immobilize/chill/cripple spam to lock you down from every direction. People just need look at you and roll their knuckles across the keyboard, never having to position themselves.

The guy i just beat down and stomped comes back 20 seconds later, running across the diagonal of the map with just normal running speed whilst i am still taking on another foe.

Floating Healthbars

The same problem in WoW where players just have to look for misfortunate players to unload their execution spells on. Showing everyones hp is a major driving force for the zerging problem, where everyone bypasses the proper nodes they need to assault/defend just to chase someone who is at low health whos 5 points to the enemy team isnt worth the points lost for not grabbing nodes.

It is incredibly lame for the travelling person being ganked and for the competent player looking to win matches.

Gimmicky kitten from Classes

I see very few people playing builds/playstyles that dont revolve around an obnoxious/unavoidable mechanic.

Examples:

Necromancers who build up toughness/vit to run up to nodes, just to turn on plague form and button mash the blind, contesting it for 30 seconds, and longer since 2900 armor and 30k health doesnt take down itself.

Rangers who hide next to water or water based nodes/combat just to abuse the underwater pet heal, or only choose to fight with another person so that they can be covered in the land downed state while their pet rofl heals them back up. Or sword/dagger/shortbow rangers relying on nearly endless cycles of dodging hoping their pet can take down your hp as you frantically attempt to hit them in the middle of their dodges.

Mesmers who abuse the Sword #2 whenever they mess up a keystroke or blink into a wall. Killshot damage in 2 seconds while invincible, 25% uptime invulnerability. Also, most mesmer builds revolved around stacking3-4 stealths, blinks, position swaps, and culling abuse, utilizing a stupid high health pool with low cd tricks to endlessly cycle them with little penalty for misusing a skill.

Thieves who stack 6 stealths and shortbow warp, many of which on low cd’s to repeatedly dissapear, easily compensating for lack of good judgement for when to flee or avoid combat for a duration. Also, thieves who stack burst for steal/backstab incrediburst, and heartseeker spam to ensure their hits never miss and <50% targets go down in a flash.

Elementalists who can use various mist forms/movement abilities to easily mitigate large portions of damage and flee from any engagement. Ive seen an elementalist on Battle of Khylo go from one of the corner nodes to the base path of Clocktower in 4 seconds, all the while invincible, escaping 6 teammates. Of course, water-healing builds with incredible lame healing persecond, combined with movement abilities to stay untouched and waste your time.

I rarely get to enjoy fighting builds/players that outplay me from proper use of evading/cc/healing, or fighting scenarios where the opposing player/players escapes being killed for points by these ludicrous methods.

I think people who play pvp just to abuse these mechanics are lame and wasting everyone’s time, and perhaps a large chunk of the reason S PvP has been so unpopular since 3 months after release and onward.

Mispurchase, suggestion and could use fix

I accidentally mispurchased 3 Pieces of Citadel of Flame Armor. buying light instead of heavy armor.

Flame Legion Mantle of the Baelfire (power/ precision/ critical damage)
Flame Legion Gloves of the Baelfire (power/precision/ critical damage)
Flame Legion Vestments of the Baelfire (power/precision/critical damage)

I suppose the next response before claiming this as “not working as intended” is to blame it on me, but yesterday i moved out a house for 17 hours with no pay, which made me extra sleepy and feel autonomous clicking through the “am i sure” options. I am looking sour to grinding out these tokens again as i planned to have fun with the armor power leveling friends over the spring break.

In the game, i would enjoy to see Anet not even offer armors of different class to be purchased in the huge roster of armors to be bought, and to further organize them into 3 different tabs of stats.

And/or add a sell option to armors to get the exact amount of tokens back.

I feel stupid i fell for this, but i also feel like it happens to a huge amount of people and thus needs to be fixed.

Also, if possible, i would appreciate it if a GM could change the 3 pieces I mispurchased into the heavy armor equivalent, or to simply turn them back into tokens, that would be greatly appreciated.

Thief spots me, fancies me a squishy, and steal+backstabs for 10k+ (against my 3200 armor…….) , then prepares for February 2, 2022. (2/2/22 lolz)

I survive, turn around to proceed to interrupt said thief, promote panic stealth(sorta like panic knife) and laugh as he flees.

Laugh harder if he doesn’t run away after his third stealth and gets killed by being outplayed, then proceeds to call warriors Overpowered.

1vGroup please

So we’ve all seen the vids. We know who’s capable of this.
What I’m asking is for any of the elite warriors out there to please post a vid and your spec of your warrior going 1vGroup (4-5+) and winning, spikes and all. Please.

Just went 1v6 in WvW on my d/d ele earlier today before XMas dinner. Home again and hopped on my thief to badge farm, having a nice 1v4 before character swapping.

Went on my warrior again, because he’s who I really would like to “main” and…

Yeah, 1v1’s ok (unless it’s one of the godly 3) and 1v2 if they’re both upleveled but tried to charge a 5-man group in open field and only managed to down 2 of them, no stomps before getting handed my plated butt to me. From a scenario most likely I would have grabbed a few bags from if I died at all on my ele earlier.

So please, if any other warrior has accomplished the same battlefield potential in 1vGroup scenarios post up a vid or two and show us how it’s done. Otherwise it just feels like all the gold, all that time farming and levelling to complete a warrior was just wasted effort.

Thanks in advance,
Sad Panda.

You’re a fool to think you can take on multple people at once anyways and posting your claims of battles against you that were epic.

Yea in WoW i could take down 3 or 4 people at once on my Prot Pally, given their gearscore was total garbage and bad at CC-chaining.

And only the worst types of player in a group of 4 or 6 people as you claim would allow their downed teammates to be flagged or even killed slowly.

You’re relying on people being bad and getting a hype out of it, You almost sound like a runescape player (before EoC) running around claiming his battle skill to be godly with his rune scimitar against undergeared newb.

1v Group is impractical and virtually impossible unless ganking really kittenty people in really kittenty gear, largely due to downed state as the person you just defeated can just be revived in 4 seconds if rezz’d instantly. Don’t expect the game to revolve around soloing groups of people, it just screams they are bad.

Find a reputed person of a class, have a good solo fight with him, post the vid. That’ll earn you alot more respect from people than wild claims of “pwing newbs”.

Yea, keep kittening that this isnt in much regards to your OP, but i hate to let a person make a fool of themselves claiming grandeur when they are really preying upon the worst of pvp in a game that has the most exploitable PvP scenarios of all time.

Haste + 5 Heartseekers = ~30k instant damage

in PvP

Posted by: AlfredKlios.9657

AlfredKlios.9657

Well a 3200 armor guardian is going to be way higher armor than a necro with 1600 toughness. Thats like my warrior with 2k toughness.

So it would naturally take less heartseekers to finish him.

And for those of you that kitten out hundred blades…..

Hundred blades doesnt make you instantly jump on your target over and over to insure it never misses due to anything but dodge rolls. heartseeker you can literally jump on your target over and over and over and dodge rolls will not affect your dps as much as dodging a hundred blades once.

Whats more OP about heartseeker than its damage, is how easily it can connect. Just bounce on your opponent and it will automatically hit. How many warrior skills do that…eviscerate maybe but you travel half as fast…

Maybe greatsword rush that has horrible aiming or sword leap that does virtually no damage…possibly shield stun that has a delay on the actual hit when you actually rush to your target…

Bullscharge is the only one i know. Cant bullscharge 6 times in a row though.

XD I just started a warrior recently and decked him out all fancy and stuff with extra dungeon tokens for armor and gear skins. After making it look so good for fun, despite my reservations and reluctancy to play the warrior class, i may give in and give it a go and bring him to level 80 quick.

I know I can research builds, watch youtube videos and read through the forum, so i’m just being ignorant and annoying here and hoping for first hand personal opinions…. What build, strategies would you recommend or would you do in detail, if my play style has always been mesmer and ranger etc. Somehow what i enjoy is strategy, mobility, evasion, block, jumping in and out of melee/ranged.

Definitely not going for a solid stand in one place bunker tank spec or something that is too utility or condition/buff focused. I also don’t completely go glass cannon and burst, i tend to want to deal substantial damage over time while taking as little damage as possible by being mobile and playful. Does the warrior class have things that will work like that? Or you can tell me to forget about that and adapt to the class lol

My role with such a build some have put as “mobile bunker” to move quickly, even through combat, between points and contest or outlast opponents through them. But such movement abilities allow for pursuit and I can also fulfill the role of “roamer”, but obviously with not as much burst, but with lower burst can fool glass cannons into turning to face me instead of fleeing.

The only role lacking from this is control, but can be made up with the support ability of 10% increased res speed, and gaining 400 toughness when ressing for a legendary 2500 toughness, 2700 if traited and crippled. My teammates love me for my ability to shrug off 3 people using hundred blades as i rez them up to parr, use warhorn 4 and we both gtfo, and shout heals will also make a teammate’s day better.

So all in all, after my rofl amount of text, this build and weapon set up lets you adequately cover bunker, heals, mobility, support, and heavy da,age all while retaining your ability to solo virtually any spec with the right combination of dodge rolls, evasion cooldowns and running in and out of melee and ranged to tease your opponent into mistakes.

Now the reason to using soldier gear is that the majority of self healing of a warrior cannot be increased with healing power or not significantly: Adrenal health and healing surge.

with shouts mypower is commonly 2300-2400, which greatly improves the damage of my retaliation which is close to 50% uptime thanks to boon duration, and i am seldom CC-able due to shake it off and 10 1/2 sec of stability from last Stand. So I become a very durable build that can dish out some major pressure and resist burst with get-away skills from longbow and shake it off. Even retaliation can be brutal with such a high defense, hurting 350 on each hit, including thief’s unload hurting a thief 3500, sometimes more than the damage i receive.

Now your backup is axe/warhorn, a beautiful combination for dodge rolling with the nearly 100% uptime vigor (and traited endurance regen on using a burst move, which one would need Arenaline Shouts in discipline to be effective). The axe dps is not hindered at all by dodge rolling through the chain hits because of its nearly linear chain comboing. Its throw axe combined with 1 sec immobolize on cripple can allow you to chase down virtually any foe.

The dodge rolls punch medium dummies for about 800, 1200 crits, and you will dodge roll alot with all the vigor, andmore so with shout adrenaline if you prefer to use burst skills, and you add stronger condition removal (and boon addition) with the warhorn trait in master tier Tactics tree.

This build has proven to have consistent wins 1 on1 vs any class, and very good mobility to get across the battlefield. It can hold its own against any type of build via direct damage but obliterates condition builds. Its only weakness was knockdown burst (basilisk venom steal+backstab+ heartseeker, bulls+ frenzy HB), but is long gone with the recent buff to last stand.

You come fully equiped for any dangerous situation with decent escape tools, and your axe/warhorn can chase down even the most tricky mesmers and thieves to the ends of the earth if they attempt to flee.

Your weapon set allows a variety of trickey and mobility, running in and out of melee range with the bow and dodge rolling around your enemy making it even harder for you to be hit, with a fortress wall of passive defense and healing: recapping 2k toughness, 30k hp, adrenal health maxed, 9k heal on 30 sec Cd, and the 1.5k heals on your shouts.

You will become a variable soldier that can handle almost any situation and come out alive, either in victory or surviving, due to a fortress of passive defenses, condition removal and escape abilities and insane amounts of dodging, to moveon another area of the battlefield.

Does the warrior class have things that will work like that? Or you can tell me to forget about that and adapt to the class lol

You my friend have described the Tactics Vanguard from SWTOR, and Such a spec that i have loved so much from the game i have designed my warrior to be as such, good consistent pressure damage but with very special perks.

The longbow is your perfect weapon for tricking your enemy with distance: it is strongest in melee range with its 6 sec Cd Fan of Fire that does tremendous melee damage as well as burning. Arcing arrow can be fired behind you even while running opposite to your firing direction. It also has several low CD’s to avoid damage, 15 sec Cd blind (similar to mace’s 15 sec Cd daze but far mroe effective) and the immobilize that can be used defensively/offensively.

Now with the bow you do almost certaintly want to prefer shouts as it works well with the tactics tree. My build specific to longbow is one that stacks ludicrous amounts of passive defense, healing, hp, and condition removal, some say might be too much.

With soldier gear. Runes of Soldier, and full Tactics tree, you shall have 30k hp, and my build is meant to keep at maximum adrenaline, taking advantage of adrenal health healing 120 hp a second, and Healing Surge to heal at 9k heal on a 30 second CD since i maintain my adrenaline. naturally my condition removal is A+ from using the 3 low CD Shouts of For Great Justice, Shake it Off, and On my Mark.

Trait set up is

10 Strength (increased damage based on adrenaline)
0 Arms
30 Defense (adrenaline gain on hit/tough on crip/immob/chill) (auto balance stance) (retaliation)
30Tactics (immoblize on cripple, damage from boons, stronger bowstrings, all are equally situationally beneficial) (Warhorn Condition purging) (shout heals)
0 Discipline

Don’t roflnoob flame me saying warriors don’t need buffs, but they do need MANDATORY and immediate bug fixes on many things (as im sure other classes do), but nah the Devs think that you should get a few conditions from virtually nonexistent combo fields underwater.

So for regular attenders of PvP, i’m sure most of you are aware at how many classes have bottlenecked into roles, instead of GW2’s legendary (and outlandish) claim that they want all classes to be able to fulfill all roles and playstyles through the trait system.

Many examples any seasoned pvp’er is aware of.

Necro’s severe lack of direct damage and nonexistent stability stopping it from becoming a bunker.

Warrior’s hideously poor condition damage output backed by being kittened as a “crit-bleed” style condition trait line.

Engineers significantly lacking direct damage and unable to stack blocks like Guardians/Wars/Eles.

Ranger’s lack of signicicant raw damage burst.

The fact that healing others is severely limited to a few traitlines of a few classes, when it should be available to all classes in at least one spec.

All these examples and more lead Players to concretely beleive that classes have roles now. Wait…. wasn’t GW2 supposed to abandon roles with the disassembly of the trinity?

Now for roles i don’t mean damage, healer tank. I mean when people say “Roll a necro/ dodge theif for conditions” “roll a warrior/thief for damage, they’re the burst class”, or “roll a guardian or elementalist for bunker”. And the sad thing is i believe the Dev’s are pushing for this sad defeatest fact to solidify.

Its like even they have given up trying to make the gameplay like what it was supposed to be, instead of people being forced to play a certain style because so much of their other mechanics are weak/underdeveloped or bugged (cough warrior cough….)

I wanted a game where i could go against the status quo of other MMOs and use a class against what it was expected to be. Condition Warriors, Tank thieves, Nuking Rangers, Ranged Guardians.

But its all too apparent that gw2 put significantly more effort into trait lines of certain classes just to revive the old Class Metas( “Disease Necromancer”, “Tanky Guardian”) and leave behind a poor piss kitten job on the other trait lines.

This not only makes gameplay very dull, unsatisfying, but discourages the testing of builds and alternative gameplay which was supposed to make this game rich and diverse.

Its insulting and unavoidable to feel like players have been left in the dust from the Dev’s not caring to keep to their original point, and be lazy to turn their MMO into a gear treadmill and make balancing attempts number slashing instead of mechanic fixing (yes thieves, i’m sorry they made backstab the only viable build instead of fixing what needs to be fixed. prepare for more nerfs from the incompotent developers)

Some of you may say “well its a new game, stop expecting so much!”. I’ll ask you if you played SWTOR at launch, and i will ask you again if you remember the massive series of patches fixing class imbalance, bugs, mechanic abuse (masterstrike burst herrderrr, and separate level 1-49 and 50 pvp) to quickly snap the game back into shape.

P.S. dont go into bashing SWTOR, we already know their players ran back to the other $15 monthly where they already have much more content to complete, GW2 isn’t dying for the same reasons.

quite obvious a warrior whine thread, limping around helplessly ?

serious ? you do know some of the warrior skills right warriors are anything but helpless.. they get like 4 ways of obtaining stability and not even counting traits… you know how much necros get in stability 0 yea you heared me right the only way a necromancer can get stability if he specs 30 points into a bugged traitline and the stability only last for 3 seconds.. and there will be time off to actually switch into ds and out.. so its more like 2.5 seconds.. that adds hardly anything.. or go into a form thats only good for holding a node or another form that waves a red flag in anthing in the vicinity of 3000 yards and the best of it all these change forms kill off all our pets and are on a 3 minute cooldown.. and you cant stomp in em..

warriors helping around helplessly..

yea right..

lets make it into warriors into cookiespec cuter builds and all hundred blade bullrush frenzy spamfest. and yes in spvp frenzy bullrush hundred blade spamfest works flawlessly.. espcially since you’re to busy in a small map to constantly pay attention to another joker whos in your face in 0.5 seconds spamming the same old combo again.. or if thats not good enough for you grab a rifle and see you outshine the only true ranged class in the game in mere seconds.. or a hammer and deliver powerful aoe knockbacks knockdown or 2 sec aoe stun..

A whine thread? You’re a gen-u-ine swine idiot. SPvP is even more of a spam fest as much as it is a zerg fest, thats my point. It’s a comical approach and now you kittened it up. Feel good about yourself.

yea tournaments just reinforce metas. Got tired of fighting a bunker guardian every where i turned, or some frenzy 100b newb/ steal+CD+backstab+HS spammer coming behind me and ripping me a new one, then calling me a bad player.

5 v 5 is focused spam in a way. Instead of movement its more about being an invincible meta or a broken meta. Falls into the same problem with WoW arenas. cough frost mage and holy pally cough….

As ridiculously hilarious as this is to watch in every game if one were a spectator, the spam makes actually playing the game tasteless. Kinda tired of it.

Solider vs Knight

I like knight’s better, personally. I’m not sure if it’s a net increase in longevity by itself, but the extra toughness will indirectly improve my heal effectiveness for longer fights, and I get better damage with precision as well rather than just a bit higher power. Plus 5% of my toughness goes to power if I trait that way, for whatever that’s worth.

Your 5% of the 300 more Toughness knight has over Soldier will only amount to 15 extra power. And knight is only a damage increase over Soldier if you

A) have a 2.0 crit damage multiplier or
B) have substantial power in your traits/runes

it depends on if you have crit damage or not. I wont bore you with formulas, but knight does give less Power than Soldier so it doesnt necesarrily deal more damage. If you have crit damage in your traits, get knight’s. Soldier will actually allow you to take more punishment than knight’s because when facing raw damage, the 900 bonus from knight vs the 600 armor from soldier is actually only about a 10~15% damage reduction over Soldier, but the 6k health you are getting from soldier lets you take 25% or more (depending on your health, you being 22k currently, roudning to 24k) punishment. Also, more vitality means you can “tank” condition damage more since it goes through armor.
And if you have toughness in your build already, it makes Soldier even more powerful as you approach the DR’s of toughness on damage reduction if you were using Knight.

So if you have crit damage, go for Knight’s. but if you have healing power/power/toughness (which is basically the only other viable stats for these 2 armor sets), go with the soldier.

Still having the issue of “stronger bowstrings” putting on a separate bar of skills and even then not adding the 3 secs of burning to “Arching Arrow”.

Fan of fire still doesn’t give 2 seconds of burning as the Skill Description says it does.

But i have noticed the dual shot does track better on moving targets at 900+ so its still debately wether this trait is garbage or not.

Might pick up boons=damage increase for constant 7% damage bonus…

This pretty much is the ultimate counter to any burst class because you are full control and can block lots of burst with Defensive stance and Mace #2. only weakness is more durable builds that have stability. For that i use Sigils that remove boons on Crits to help with it, but mostly you have to just avoid their hits and counter with mace skills until it falls off.

I ran a similar physical utility build with kick+stomp+bulls charge. used exact same weapon set up and Berserker Amulet to take advantage of the short CC.

Trait setup was 30 Strength for physical utilities, confusion on interrupt because virtually everything I did was an interrupt, and trait 1-5 were optional.

10 into Arms for Unsuspecting foe because it ADDS 50% crit when they are stunned, which allows 90+% crit after Earthshaker, Skull Crack, and Daze.

Went 30 into discipline for fast hands, might stacking and faster burst skills. I enjoyed the “blocking grants might” for those moments when you are being hit with Dagger Storm or Axe whirlwind and you can easily stack up to 3200 power and then return the kitten

The Combustive Shot (longbow adrenal) applies a first initial Raw Damage hit that applies 2 seconds of burning, and subsequent hits based on how much adrenaline you used that each apply another 2 seconds of burning.

1 stage of adrenaline yields 1 initial hit +2 hits, for a total of 3 raw damage hits.
2 Stage of adrenaline yields 1initial hit +3 hits, for a total of 4 raw damage hits.
Max Adrenaline yields 1 initial hit + 4 hits , for a total of 5 raw damage hits.

Side notes:
-Arcing arrow in the Field Applies aoe 3 stacks of might, and Arcing arrow also gets a 3 second burn when you gain the trait Stronger Bowstrings.

- Fan of fire’s tooltip shows 2 sec of burning, but actually each individual shot applies 1 second of burning, for a total of 3 seconds of burning applied if used point blank.
– If Fan of fire is used in the Combustive Shot, combo field Fire projectile finisher
will occur 3 times and a total of 6 seconds of burning (3×1 second burns from
the skill itself and 3×1 seconds for each projectile will be applied

- Smoldering Arrow and Pin down each trigger the fire field projectile finisher combo.

-Dual shot (the basic 1 attack for longbow) fires 2 separate projectiles, each applying 1 second of burning to the target in a fire field, resulting in 2 seconds of burning for each Dual Shot cast.

Now nearly 3 months into the game i haven’t seen much of any attempt to fix bugs. It’s like they’ve gone incredible lazy and the game now always feels stagnant.

Also nerf the healing on Mirror. 4k heal on 15 sec CD is ridiculous…warrior healing signet barely covers 3.2k on a 20 sec CD and it doesn’t reflect projectiles. Stop being inconsistent with numbers….

Mesmers really need a basic health modifier of 10k like Guards, Eles and Thieves.

There’s no reason for a class that has better kiting ability than a Ranger, more opportunities for Block and and Invulnerability than an Elementalist, and as much Stealth as thieves to have the 15.5k hp modifier. its ludicrous and its a huge reason they are such a pain in the kitten to kill. This extra hp just lets them survive that much longer to spam more of their surviving abilities.

I thought the reason we brought Guard hp down was because they too have insane ways to avoid damage? If anyone needs the 15k health its theives, being an Adventurer profession and also not having access to the extreme mitigation that mesmers, ele’s, and guards have.

Yes, a normally 11k crit turns to 20k crit when you give a target 25 stacks of vulnerability and you yourself have +900 power from 25 stacks of might. I think the only broken thing here is boon/condition stacking if you even want to make an argument of that

Correctly traited, rangers excel really, really well in conditions. With traps and the correct weapons, they have access to fast bleeds (can stack 13+ in seconds), poison, chill, burning… And all these are AOE.

Warriors have very good burst and damage, thats the first thing that comes to my mind when I think of Warriors.

Yea i was playing around with some ranger sword dagger or axe dagger and traps. They have interesting mechanics, i really love the end traits for their health tree and the 5 point traits in their defense. Warriors only have 2 options for conditions (i wont even mention rifle since its a sad excuse for a condition weapon and was only thrown in the crit tree because of its high raw damage); Longbow and Sword. Longbow is a weird buggy support weapon that has a combination of raw and condition damage, with significantly more damage being raw.

The sword has a mix of high raw damage with Rip and Final thrust trying to take advantage of the crit tree and slowly applying conditions, with a burst move that will never connect or will be interrupted or out damaged.

Weren’t you the guy with the unstoppable physical traits warrior build?

Longbow really? and Shouts? I’m honestly suprised you win any encounters.

You will never win against mesmers like that.

My guide to beating mesmers: (i run GS + sword/shield) (i’m rank 30+ btw..but meh, just means lots of time played i suppose, but I always go for 1v1’s if i can instead of going for objectives…..)

1) Save Gs whirl or blade trail to destroy illusions/phantasms.
2)Never use bullsrush+frenzy combo until he’s blown all his tricks or hes <30 percent health.
3) If all the illusions etc start making a beeline for you he’s trying for a shatter combo, save endure pain/shield/dodge roll for this.
4) If he uses sword 2 just dodge roll it or move away. (blurred frenzy)
5) Keep hacking away at illusions as you go past to get to him + phantasms, that is honestly 70 percent of his damage.
6) Sword 2 on you is nice to close gaps quickly followed by shield 4 for a quick stun, he’ll blow an escape just to get away from you.
7)If you get moad (which sadly you will if he has it up), just dodge and try and gain distance/break los, nothing you can do, it’s a bs ability.
8) Stay out of purple fields.

They’re alot of work and waiting for him to use all his abilities. I find 30 in defence line is great for stability and spiked armour. I also run runes which give me protection at 50 percent health for 10 seconds.

Guardians :

1) 2 types – bunkers or offence ones.
2) Bunkers are annoying, just take a long time to get down.
3) Watch for buffs – if you see retaliation up don’t hit them/ Guardians don’t actually hit hard (their button 1), it’s their retaliation/zealots flame/gs spin circle of wrath which does the damage, they don’t even need to target you to do damage as all their stuff is effective in a small circle around them.
4) If they are hitting hard then it means you can hit them hard. This means wait until retaliation is down and until stability is down and when their protection is down (learn what the buffs look like!) then go for the HB+frenzy routine.
5) Use GS whirl/blade to just do damage to them without staying too close, just poke them down whilst they use abilities.
6) Don’t attack when they;re using.
7) If they cast that small dome (not the big one), you can actually stand at the edge and Hb them inside.
8) Do not attack when they have retaliation up. Watch their buffs at all times.

Moderator edit: removed excess caps

having 30k hp with 2k toughness, infinite adrenaline supplies and superior heals and condition removal creates alot of problem for any build that is burst/condition based.

Look beyond numbers for viability.

And yes burst is one way to kill mesmers, catch them with their pants down. But i chose a warrior for variety, not to be stuck with an ages old meta.

I remember a post that said it how it was with the current state of Warriors.
“Jack of all trades but master of none”.

You will never see a warrior outperforming other classes in what they do best.

Conditions, we surrender to Necromancers, Engineers, and lessly Condition Thieves and Guardians.

Raw damage, we surrender to the thieves.

Survivability, we once again surrender to Guardians, Mesmers, and lessly Engineers. One can say thieves also beat us at this with their dodging condition builds and stealthing.
-While it is true warriors can take punishment for awhile with our high defense and hp modifier and good heals, we can’t keep it up forever. Guardians and mesmers have entire rows of survival based skills in their builds, ours are restricted to shield stance and endure pain, temporary alleviations.

Only class we can relate to is Rangers who also aren’t superiorly strong in any one area. But rangers do have the advantage of significantly more development in their ranged arsenal so that one can say that they hold more of a niche in pvp.

P.S. I beleive a large problem in warriors is that we never can take full advantage of our Class ability. Some builds have a hard time building adrenaline decently unless they sacrifice utility slots.
Our discipline tree has been forever kittened at leaving us with 3% more burst damage with 30 points in. Only Axe Eviscerate, Longbow Combustive Shot and Hammer Eartshaker are even regularly useful in PvP. We are just a class with cooldowns with nothing special about us.

Never again warrior for pvp.

Can’t compete with kite heavy Mesmers who run around in circles infi-kiting warriors who even have traited immobilize breakers and several cripple breakers and stun breakers and can turn stealth if all other failsafes fall, or just turn you into a moa.

So best recommendation is to pick up a ranged weapon and beat them at their own game? Warrior ranged is extremely weak, the 2 significant sources of rifle’s damage volley and killshot can be dodged more easily than anything i can think of. Longbow is a powerful contender but a mesmer just walks like a jogger in a park out of the fire to continue the ranged bombing on you.
Or they can just set up a projectile reflecting field just to troll you, but most often will win the damage race by relying on stealth as long as possible to stay hidden and let copies bomb you down.

Thieves who at the drop of a hat and out of nowhere mega combo you for 30k+ health who can just as easily stealth out of a fight if their burst fails or is faulted. Feel sorry for 100b warriors which is the only burst we have in the game, who A, can’t even come close to thief burst, and B. dont have a fallback/escape mechanic if their burst fails, so they end up perishing soon after.

Solution? Roll 1 of the 2 classes who can escape any situation with ease and have extremely powerful and sometimes broken builds/abilities to abuse. Choose a mesmer if you want some skillcap that can handle ANY situation and any build with ease, or a thief if you just want to roam around exploding 1 person every minute and have good insurance against being downed.

If you want to be a warrior in pvp, roll a guardian,at least they can bunker.

P.S. , am a Longbow Shout build who can do massive burst in short time with burning+arcing arrow. I can make short work of all engineers and rangers i’ve encountered, but never mesmers. They almost kill me with every engagement unless they have absolutely no idea what they’re doing, or can just use one of their infinite number of escape mechanics in their toolbags to leave the fight if things get hairy.

So anyone who can beat this 1v1 bleed thieves wanna share ur strats? And don’t lie…we know noone can beat them.

BTW Stealth mechanics have ruined the pvp in this game.

You’d have to be a specific shout condition purging build with hammer/axe+something with the 1 second immobilize on cripple or the longbow to fire a combustive shot and arcing arrow onto their dancing field to beat them at their game.

60% chance to remove on crit, learn your sigils before being a kitten troll.

So, with 50% chance to crit—maybe 70% on a good day with Frenzy—you’re going to have a 25-35% chance to remove just the one boon. Even if the enemy has only three boons you’re still having to sacrifice a goat to the RNG gods.

No, not even guards come close to 5 boons 100% uptime. Only Wars that pop signet of rage have 3, mesmers only have Might up mostly, Thieves pretty much never have boons except for vigor, but they lack stability. Only warhorn rangers have other boons up for a short time. Eles? No. Necromancers have boons but no stability, just watch for plague form.

They don’t need 100% boon uptime. When they are in a fight, they are likely to have more than 3-5 boons on them. It’s that fight that matters: because it’ll significantly reduce the chance of removing Stability when you need to.

Warriors are guards are the only ones who are boon based, and guards are easy to deal with and warriors too easy to dodge, ill run circles around you and just wait for it to fall off.

Who says they won’t do the same to you? At least give credit to your opponents.

It’s just a counter to stability. Im not relying on it to save my life. Mainly i just let the stability fall off when i utilize my blocks or temporarily kite around a pillar or some other obstruction. After 6 or 8 seconds, depending on their boon duration bonus im good to go again.

Just saying there’s ways to counter stability, shouldn’t just condemn a build because one thinks there is no other way around it

because I dont play tournaments,

Well at least you were honest upfront and early about why you support such a bad build.

With the multitude of build types

See the thing is, there aren’t a multitude of build types. If you’re playing competitively, because of the way the game is balanced atm and with the gametype promoting the meta it does, there are only a few viable builds for each class. For some classes there’s really only 1 type of build with a subtle variation here or there.

First thing, in true competitive PvP, for warriors at least stability is a must have. Arguably frenzy is a must have as well, but stability is just the very first thing that should go on your bar. There’s room for one physical skill but all three is just an exercise in self kittenage.

If you rely on Frenzy, Endure Pain, Bull’s charge or Balanced Stance to play the game for you, people with half a brain will easily see ways to counter it. Frenzy, some CC. Endure pain, you can still be CC’ed and avoided being dealth with. If bull’s charge is your only opener, then you will never be able to touch kite-heavy classes. A big reason i dont even think about getting stability is because its worthless if i cant be touched, which is exactly what happens with the correct combination of block and intensive CC this build has. The only way i ever get killed in matches is if i let myself get warrior vision and not watch the red names closing in on me or if i’m at the wrong place at the wrong time and get 4 people on me.

Stability = No win for you. You’ve put all your eggs into one basket and stability just smashes them all.

Everyone runs some form of stability in pvp. Your build is really only good for killing some thieves and Hb glass warriors who open with Hb rush combo.

Physical utilities are pretty trash. Only bullsrush is worth taking. Kick is just not good, i’m sorry, but it isn’t worth giving space to on your bar. Why would I take kick over endure pain, or stability or frenzy or..well anything.

You don’t run any stun breakers on your bar = instant lose.

Yea, that’s why I have boon removing sigils. Stop being such a defeatist like there is no way out.

Yes everyone has stability but they rely on that 1 stability to save their lives for them, relying on 1 ability for their play style to follow through. Everyone i have removed it from is utterly helpless and cannot continue to fight me because they have accepted stability is necessary for PvP and cannot fight without it. Only class i have problem with is guardian because they almost always have other boons up that get purged before with my 10 second internal. Thats ok, they arent a class that can wipe the floor with me in the 8 second durations that stability lasts.

And yes, i would take Kick over endure pain because it does 2k damage and interrupts the opponent with a 1 1/2 second pseudo stun created from the knockback. I mitigate far more damage being able to kick people 5 times in the time it takes for endure pain to recover.

And if i didnt have any stunbreakers and i would be instantly losing, how am i winning all the 1 on 1 engagements I encounter with stun heavy classes like Earth Ele’s, Guards Rangers and other Warriors? You can see stuns coming, dodge them or block them, thats why i use mace/shield. Stop being a defeatest and being lazy not to avoid it and then just rely on a utility.

It’s called skillcap, using non-ability related methods like Line of Sight, evading or dodging and predicting your opponent’s move. I can tell when a longbow ranger is going to punt me or fearbomb me. i know when an elementalist is going to rush me to groundpound me or a mesmer blow his position swaps and vanishes. I know where a thief is going to go when he stealhs, hell i usually Earthshaker right after they stealth and they get downed from expecting to be able to flee.

Stop kittening yourselves by accepting the fact you HAVE to have stability or HAVE to use endure pain or HAVE to use frenzy. Relying on abilities and tooltips only weakens you and doesnt give you the options and utilities that things like Warrior Physical Utilities can give you. I’m sorry you feel that way.
