I think the philosophy behind this as a game designers is that the tickets will not only allow players to access the content but also pace players in their progression of the Gauntlet Arena. Meaning it’s more of a time sink. If people spam gauntlet all day, then there wouldn’t be just you up there. There will be tons of people waiting in queue. It’s not like the tickets are hard to obtain, but they are tedious. I have over a stack of tickets myself lol
In my opinion ANet needs to stop with this temporary content and focus more on adding permanent content.

Self-entitled people are often the most selfish ones. However exclusive you feel you’re worth, this is a yearly event. Not a one-time thing. It’s also a good catch-up for new players who just started the game.
But here’s the irony. People like you complain exclusivity then there will be people who complain about not having a chance. So is there a winner? Nope lol. All and all this is nothing but another complaint.
It’s called learning it the hard way. The fault is in the players, not the game. The mechanics is just there and it’s the players job to adjust it accordingly. Sometimes you will get a channel full of randoms and other times you get people with like-minded goals.
In fact, I have over 20+ Gold Chest reward myself lol

Lion’s Arch WILL be re-build. It wouldn’t make sense if it didn’t. So the real question is, how would the new direction of this LA will turn out. There can be several opportunities to change stuff.

I humbly and respectfully thank ArenaNet in their effort for creating an amazing innovative well-crafted game that not only affect players on entertainment level but also a spiritual one as well.
I have been playing since beta and experienced a lot of changes/improvements since the launch of this game and there is one quote by Maya Angelou that has never been so fitting to describe this game.
“I’ve learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.”
Now I’m obviously not referring to a certain individual but the actual game itself.
People can criticize the negatives about this game, and likewise people can say positives about this game too. Whatever it may be, this game is a slice of life that is a part of everyone’s life who have played a considerable amount of time here in Tyria and I’m glad to be a part of this generation to experienced this game.
I’m writing this because Guild Wars 2 help remind me why I want to be concept artist professionally. I always love lore because it creates philosophy, fantasy, and dept to a world not like any other and the power of imagination is always infinite. Thanks for reminding why I should love doing what I want to do. Not as a fellow community player or even a fan, but a student who wish to be in the video game industry eventually.

I wouldn’t say it was easy, but it was a definitely a challenge that’s not impossible. Last year I could do it, but now this year I could. I beat Liadri as Elementalist D/D. Once I got used to the mechanics, all I had to do after that was execute the plan to beat her.
I wonder if this was the influence of me running around playing the SAB music haha.
Aside from the map design, I think there needs to be more variety on stats choices and mixing.

With the changes of April 2014 patch, I’m wondering if there will be a change to Heart of The Mist in the future? Quiet frankly, I never liked it since beta and I feel like it’s necessary to address this issue now.
Now I’m not sure with the history of the heart of the mist, but from what I see it looks like a run-down war zone that’s been through a lot. It makes sense. It’s a PvP zone after all but there’s something about it that I just don’t like and here’s why.
From a design point of view, the current Heart of the Mist has all the essentials that every player has access to. However, there are areas I feel that need to be improved, changed, or modify.

First I will isolate the current map with what we have and know.
Then I will list things that could be a possibility.
1. PvP Lobby
This is the primary hub that many pvp players and travelers are very familiar with. They spent majority of their time here. The key component that makes this area great are the following:
- PvP browser
- Portal to Lion’s Arch; now Gendarran fields
- Tournament Master
- Profession Trait Trainers
Add: In-game PvP leaderboard
either through pvp browser tab or a board-object that will state it
Possible issues: Slow down on database server due to traffic
Wardrobe Banker only
Show a list of all possible skins unlocked or not obtained yet. Similar to how the normal banker functions except just the Wardrobe.
Change:
One Merchant
Condense all the tabs into one NPC, now that the armorsmith, weaponsmith, and Sigil masters are useless due to the new easy-to-use PvP Builder.

2. DPS Trials
Now currently the area is filled with a lot of Golems for players to test their skills, but I feel like they’re limited in their potential use.
Add: Target Golem Sign
Primary function of this, is that it will tell the players the Health of Light, Medium, and Heavy Golem. That way, players can tell approximately how much they’re doing.
Damage Breakdown
Exactly like the Death Breakdown in normal pvp. But I will go in detail with this on Number 4.

3. Artillery Practice
Honestly, I find this area a huge waste of space but this is subjective because people can dispute why it ‘can’ be useful. I won’t argue, however, I would like this area to be modified slightly.
Add: An Underground/cave or mountainside Jumping Puzzle in Heart of the Mist. Utilize the vastness of the area. Also not only in number 3 but possibly in other areas of Heart of the Mist.
A speed Buff NPC to allow players to run to target areas so they can become live test subjects, and also open up more area of target.

4. Combat Training – Sparring NPC
Currently the combat trainers are okay to alright as they are. However, I’d to see a Damage Breakdown somewhere. Similar to a Death breakdown to see how much damage was inflicted on you after death. This Damage Breakdown works in the player’s favor and tell how much they did to the NPC. I don’t see any possible problem adding this one because it utilizes the Combat Log.
Also it would be nice to see variety types of Profession NPC Such as tank Guardian or Damage guardian, but that’s just wishful thinking.

5. Underwater Combat Training Area
Now known as the Orbin Ruins. With the removal of underwater combat in sPvP, I can see a potential use for this area in the future. Dueling
Change: Duel System
By possibility typing ‘/duel @’ Both Players will engage in a bow then commence a duel with one another. However, I can see problems with this as I’m thinking both players become hostile with everyone else. So this technical part is beyond me. I can’t think of a way to figure this out, sorry.
Add:
- sPvP Leaderboard
- Wardrobe Banker
- Target Golem Sign
- Damage Breakdown
- Duel System
- Jumping Puzzle(s)
- Speed Buff NPC for Live Target Practice
I’m leaving this blank for now, but I want to see how well this post will go before I engage in a re-design concept of how Heart of the Mist can possibility look like. I can sketch out some concepts and lay out NPC placements.

Don’t worry Handin, have some faith in Arena Net. They’re reading this, and I’m sure they’ll fix it soon. Right now they are occupied with the final ‘season’ of the living story.

I didn’t say it doesn’t need a fix, I’m only saying it wont get one because Anet obviously doesn’t give a single kitten to any races except humans.
Also, it’s my way to provoke someone from dev team to give an answer why they hate Asura so much.

Easy on the hate son. We all have our opinions for something. Rather than expressing your emotions, put some actual constructive criticism and thoughts on how to improve it instead of whining about it.
Hey it’s just a name and for aesthetic purposes. If people grind for Thoughtless potion it’d still be the same, but I see the irony in it too lol
lol I see small red dots. It’s definitely hiding.
I think this is one of those aesthetic look that appeal to other certain race and not overall. I never play as a charr, but looking it from an asuran perspective, you look cool still
Update: here’s a comparison to my other Asura vs a char.
You can barely see it and it over laps with the hair. Not only is it not big enough, it’s not high enough to be noticed.

40 a day for 6 days gets you 240. You can get the 10 from the citizen, 2 per day too.

A bunch of my guildies got it already. They haven’t tested it yet though.
The potion is a buff that gives a Halo (or Horn if Thoughtless Potion) to your character over it’s head. You can use it in an infinite amount of time. I’m not sure if you can fight with it while in combat or if you can use it elsewhere.
Tomorrow’s reset I’ll have it, but I won’t be happy about it. After farming for long hours only to find out it’s tiny. Sigh. Disappointing. You can still get it and use it on your other character. I believe it’s account bound.
As an Asuran player there are a lot of things that I can stand for being a small midget, such as carrying small weapons that significantly appear different from that of a Norn because of race scale (naturally). In this case, I’m actually upset about the selfless potion. So upset that I actually have to make a post about it. It’s literally too tiny. I’m not one to complain, but this I can’t stand. I really want it to look bigger by 25% perhaps.

I was loading the game to the character screen and suddenly I accidentally pulled the plug from the computer. Now, loading the game launcher it’s prompting me to do a game repair. Okay cool. The problem is, the repairing process looks like I’m re-downloading the entire game. Right now i’m at 35% with 10.3GB.
Is this the best way to optimize a fix? Are you guys aware that we have monthly bandwidth.
As we all know by now, the Fractals of the Mist is a dungeon with 9 current mini-dungeons that gets progressively harder as the levels go up. Meaning more health, more enemy damage, and more, more, more. At a certain point, players will need to equip Ascended gear with infusion slots in order to advance on the harder difficulty. Meaning better stats and more resist. It’s becoming awfully obvious where this direction is going.
I can’t predict the future, but right now players can obtain ascended ring at level 10+ already made, while back piece can be crafted with mats that will take around 1-3 days at best assuming you actually played the game and have some gold/mats on your back.
Right away getting 3 items of ascended is not that hard if you think about it, and it’s needed to by pass the super harder levels(20+ maybe). It makes sense that there is a halt somewhere for provision.
The whole dungeon itself is a bit of a gear check at later levels which I personally half-agree with. I don’t mind that there is a gear check because there is always that one guy who thinks all berserk or MF gear is the way to help the group out. Wrong. Putting effort is needed to advance further to the next level.
However, if this becomes a habit of gear check then, Houston we have a problem. A way to make things difficult but exciting all while having some ascended gear to ward off Agony is the mechanics itself. Allow a wide-spread of options that don’t normally happen.
For example, Dungeon A Level 15 should be different from Dungeon A Level 2 the difference should be noticeable. Not by simple numeric value feel of it but the number of corresponding triggers that appear. Such as the existing running through/with the giant molten boulder. Add mobs that will snare you or add fences that go on/off allowing you to go through or not. Things like that add flavour to the existing mechanic and point out that it actually gets harder.
Anyway, my point is I hope in future implementation of dungeons that the concepts for harder dungeons have more intriguing mechanic that build upon each other giving noticeable difficulty. This helps the design complex and yet straight forward.
Other than that, amazing work. I really love all the mini-dungeon design. Each has it’s own environment literally and metaphorically. Keep at it!

After completing the Colossus, my group finally reached to the last part, which was the dredge dungeon. The two most tedious dungeons in one go. Sadly, one of my party member disconnected before we even started and we were left a super hard task of 4-man’ing dredge at level 10, especially trying to get the control panel to work. Once he logged in, we were promptly kicked out of the dungeon because the guy that got disconnected was the one that started our dungeon.
This idea couldn’t hurt. Consider the fact you worked to get to x level means you’re already experienced and know what you’re doing and repeating it is just a simple grind which ruins the gameplay experience. Arenanet might have not considered this yet, but maybe in the future they will as long develop.
1. Use profession abilities; haste, condition remover, stability
2. Jump through tree holes
3. Always an open area on the left-side
4. Use the other two party members to escort or eat traps for you.
It really isn’t that hard. My team did it in one try.
Robert Hrouda, might I suggest you make all the Explorable dungeon feel like an adventure, like a real explorer. For example in CoF Path 2 Magg, my guild mate noticed an Ooze King/Queen. We ventured forth a hidden path away from the main and jumped to defeat the ooze in which they fused to become a real boss. I don’t know what the intention of that was, but after beating it, all we had was an event completion. No chest appear, no achievement, just a simple event completion that had nothing to do with anything. Our sense of adventure was shot down because all that effort was meaningless.
Which brought me to the idea of sub-set missions of boss rewards, that we don’t have to do, but have an option to do so while exploring uncommon path ways. In Ascalonian Catacombs, after defeating the Salamander in that giant chamber there are stairs to the left that lead all the way to the top ceiling of the place, which had an entrance leading to another area. After venturing to the other side of the hallway, there was a giant empty area which was unused. I hope in the future they have some meaning.
People from different timezone and have important real-life situation missed out because of the fixed time.

3) I’m sorry that you can’t hide your true level. Having higher level people removes the need of worrying about that individual. The fact that you worked to get that x level means you know what you’re doing, and you want to get better. This will also give a wake up call to those who think full berserker is the way to go. Also, what’s wrong with advancing normally.
I wish my Incinerator weapon was a bit…more. I saw a video on Bolt, a legendary sword that players coated in lightning with an interesting sound effect. Why can’t Incinerator have a similar effect, like being coated in a fiery aura. It seems Swords and Greatswords are ArenaNet’s fav
You may not like it, but the overall concept is great. Legendary weapons are Legendary for a reason and they give good reason for players to stay in the game a bit longer to get it. Not just buy it off Trading Post.
