Balancing SPvP individually——-
- This is probably the single most important change that the SPvP community needs whether you realize it or not. Not only does this make sense, but since SPvP is already isolated, not one change you make here effects the rest of the game. The way it currently works the devs expect us as players to think about the rest of the game before giving changes to a specific game type, however this way of thinking will never create good balance and the reason why is the majority of changes people suggest are obviously only made and will work for Spvp. WvW and PvE are very different in terms of balance and changes for one often conflict with the other two making the change almost meaningless to begin with.
The Lesh Prince recently developed some tech that makes skill-splitting more feasible than it was previously – you’ll see some PvP (and PvE) splits in the next balance update. It’s important to understand that changes will still need to be global, but we’ll definitely have a bit more flexibility moving forward.
Keeping parity between modes when possible is important to us – but when it’s not feasible we’ll look at splits.

The good necros I have dueled in the past always start between 20-30%.
At 0%, the necro probably wouldn’t actually engage in a real match. At high shroud, the necro isn’t going to be challenged much.
So generally, if you want to get better, handicap yourself and start with less.
Ye, around 20% ish is standard. It was based around how much you could get by skill-swapping 3 or so minions for shroud.

A guardian can kill a warrior from full health instantly, yet my Scrapper had to ber nerfed into uselessness. Why is this ok?
Is this in pvp? Guardians are arguably in the worst state there. If you are serious, here’s some suggestions:
- Bring the trait that triggers endure pain (it’s in the meta build). And bring endure pain too. Now you won’t get bursted.
- The meta build also has shield master, which reflects projectiles while blocking.
- The meta build also has stability in enrage, so you won’t get cc’ed as often.Good luck.

Nobody said close competitive matches are bad. Unranked doesn’t offer competitive matches though, you could be teamed with ESL players or total newbs because of the way the matchmaking system works.
For some people it’s like fighting 4 NPCs and 1 player while having 4 NPCs yourself. That’s not fun or competitive. The quality of team mates and enemies vary far too greatly to be of any fun.
Season 2 ranked had its own share of problems but so does unranked.
I agree that SOME matches are bad in unranked but as you can see from my screen shot you also get some matches that are VERY close. And personally I find way more close and competitive matches in unranked than in the current ranked. That’s why I probably won’t ever play ranked again. But I sure can’t wait until they put ranked back so people can finally stop begging for it, and so I can remove my pvp tag thing it’s really annoying me and doesn’t match my outfits at all.
i dont think you understand. I have matches where I can easily win 1v2’s while my team loses 2v1’s to the same players. Literally if you got the average skill of the other 4 on my team, put that skilled player as a 5th instead of me, my team would get 500-0’d undoubtedly. Instead we win 500-400 because I can farm the extremely horrible players on the other team while my team loses fights.
Just because it’s clsoe doesn’t make it even close to fun. They don’t even understand what to do when you TELL them what to do. Like it’s actually so frustrating it kittenes me off. I’ve only done less than 10 unranked qs since offseason started but its by far the most annoying thing I’ve had to do in a while. I don’t mind being blown out 500-100 if it means I’m vs pro league players with at least tier 3 players on my team.
Definetly aiming gun in right direction. Too bad they shoot rev with their softest rubberband to not affect HOT sales too much.
MOA – changes nothing that you die to a condi bomb without your utilities, and you die so every 70s. No 20s invulnerabilty uptime or condi nerf followed with ele healbot nerfs.
REV STAFF 5 – instead of 6k you get hit for 5k on a unavoidable evading gap closer. No sustain or evade nerfs to a zerker class that lves longer than old soldiers builds. NO 5s port nerf or sword 2 or sword 3.
RESULTS -
Mesmer moa will be only cheesed in smaller fights or 1v1s and teamfights will last longer.FEEDBACK

yup for 2/3 weeks of working, this is what I expected from the “balance team”. I wonder if there even is a balance team or if they just pull some random dude from the pve land devs for 3 minutes, tell him to look on the forums and make a change that should help but doesnt influence anything with the actual balance cuz u probably dont know what youre doing.

Rite of the Great Dwarf: Fixed a bug that caused this skill to reduce damage additively rather than multiplicatively while under the effects of a trait.
Surge of the Mists: Reduced the damage of this skill by 15%.
Thief
Unload: Fixed a bug that caused this skill to apply 5 seconds of might instead of the intended 8 seconds of might.

I mean revs (HERALDS actually) are really good, yes. But I would put them bottom of the really good pack so to speak.
There are several more carrying, more game changing classes ahead of herald that need a tuning more quickly IMO.
necros are maybe better than rev, probably not. nothing else comes close.
I think it needs a shave. But don’t completely revert the changes. This skill was useless before other than using in a combo field for burning or something.
Maybe for you.. it was great at slowing down people that tried to kite you.
Thing is they nerfed UA and autoattack and moved damage from these abilities to #2 which created this issue. Op skill 1v1 but trash 1vX. I hope they change sword this patch bc its pathetic in current state.Oh btw, lets also not forget that damage on sword skills is bugged and deals less than intended
yeah 10k damage on a skill that causes people to double dodge and is an evade itself needs a buff.
as does the highest dps auto attacks in the game when used with quickness.

I also do not have HoT and i got to diamond (last season as well) with the build. I can probably hit legend if i play more.
Also metabattle is a terrible place to look for non hot facerole builds that play themselves. There are allot of perfectly functional HoT and core builds that, although not meta, can still work well enough to win games and not be a liability.
Metabattle mostly post builds that show up in tournaments and pople fail to realize that some of them are not very good in solo queue with randoms that do not rotate properly or support you.
no they’re pretty much all god mode in soloq. if you can’t carry with these builds (the meta ones, not really “great” ones) then you’re basically just bad at the game.

Maybe they should change wvw from zerging with as many people as possible so you don’t have to think before nerfing
Necros are still really tough bUT yeah fighting them is pretty figured out by now. My biggest tip is if they get low hp but pop a huge ds just run away and instant ji onto them when they drop it. Usually the best way to win

well im in legendary 8 in NA which is 4th highest rank (Darek) and played every single game on dh so yes i think ppl understand you can use dh in ranked q… doesnt mean its even top 6
a few tricks i do:
flashing blade when theyre expected to staff 5 will juke the skill and theyll only hit 1/2 instead of like 6+.
deflecting shot and zealots defense when you expect precision strike.. really important to save dodges
gotta land every true shot so be careful about that kitten
i like to use wings at proper times like when theyre in glint or after an unrelenting so the following precisions trike will be out of range
- Gua feels ok overall. Considering the list got numerous nerf to other classes, this makes gua actually comparatively better if untouched.
I think that the problem of the Guardian/DH viability partly lies in the excessive amounts of the projectile hate. Mb some nerfs to those would be fair?
a nerf to precision strike would result in the same thing. its freaking broken and THATS the reason everyone runs projectilehate.
im p sure naru got to legend too rather quickly, i think more quickly than me. idk if he only played dh though.
my suggestion is to just take 1v1 vs a comp thats total aids (like 2rev 2scrapper 1 ele l0l) and just outplay them cuz most people in this game are utter garbage.
and i think qing with a revenant is the best duo for us since they win every 1v1 we don’t (scrapper usually, ele, druid[though we win that too]) and also they have kittening huge broken dmg so its so easy to win every fight

Guardians have been OP vs Thieves for a very long time… no surprise that DH performs just as good vs them.
I’ll tell you what though, nerf Thieve’s incredibly hi mobility and/or burst damages and maybe I’ll support a dh nerf.
For the record, a good thief can beat a DH. I know a couple thieves who has a legitimate 50% chance of 1v1ing me. And bunker thieves are bad builds never use them.
tl;dr
Although dh doesn’t have to try nearly as much as thieves, it can be an even matchup between the two classes but there are way more bad thieves than guardians.
shouldn’t really ever happen where a thief beats a DH unless they start with little cds.

Nah legend gets qs from 10-60min qs. On average probably 25 depending on the amount of Legends on.

I agree with the idea of guardian buffs, and im glad that these changes seem agreeable. Its just incredibly frustrating that a guardian can just sit on point and kill me over and over, regardless of my own skill, simply because im playing a thief.
Same when I as a dh fight a scrapper or druid or retribution revenant or even some good necros and will never kill tempest
Nor any nerf to reapers chills or to bristleback dps.

I like these changes. There’s a 100% chance guardian would still not be top 3 class but there’s a CHANCE for it to be a real meta build which is what we’ve been lacking since glacial heart nerf.
