“Quaggan’s a piwate! Yarr!” – “Pirate”
Highest current known value for Character Slots is at least 15, so you have ample space to make characters.
I think I heard 40 somewhere, but I think that was with the number of bank tabs a person can purchase, not character slots.
10/10
Enjoyed all parts of the event.
Due to weapons being tied to skill availability, I imagine that they will not expand beyond the two weapon sets in GW2. In GW, you couldn’t change skills when you weren’t in a city, meaning that weapons were mostly aesthetic once you figured out what effects you were looking for. GW2 attached the 1-5 skills to each weapon for a profession, meaning that swapping weapons would change the available skills on the fly. Due to that effect, it would becoming increasingly hard to balance if players had access to more than two weapons (save for Engineer and Elementalists who, while only having one weapon, have access to multiple sets of skills due to class mechanics).
Attach the rune to a second piece of armor that you have equipped; you’ll get the second bonus from the rune.
Wait for the server to drop from Full to High. A lot of the servers fluctuate throughout the day, so they would have to keep checking back at different times and hope that they drop.
Focus on hearts, because once they are gone, you have very little direction, leaving a lot of exploration up to you. I know it sounds kinda weird to focus on them, but I found that a lot of the exploring stuff was made easier if I focused on doing the Hearts while exploring. Also, if you are having trouble trying to find vistas, I suggest searching for the vista (use “<Location> Vista” to find them, with <Location> being the area that your minimap says on hover); you’ll find a lot of the “hard” vistas are actually quite easy once you figure out where to start.
Legendary weapons are mostly for the aesthetics rather than the stats. Legendary weapons have stats equivalent to L80 exotics.
Daily achievements reward 1 Jug of Karma = 4,500 Karma
Monthly achievements reward 10 Jugs of Karma = 45,000 Karma
One month’s worth of Jugs of Karma (assuming 30 days) will net you 180,000 Karma, not including any use of Karma boosts.
The standard Karma Booster increases the amount a Jug of Karma gives to 6,750 Karma. This means, in one month, you can earn 270,000 Karma.
If you add on top of that the Karma Banner boost and the Guild Karma boost (5% and 15% respectively), each Jug of Karma rewards 7650 Karma, and for one month’s worth of Jugs of Karma will net you 306,000 Karma.
Also, for additional Karma, running events in Orr and Frostgorge Sound as well as completing dungeons can add on top of your Karma earnings.
You get dropped into the cauldron above the Mystic Forge for the loading screen.
It’s probably a bug created through lag due to the number of people on the servers at one time.
One time, I asked a charr warrior to tell me everything he knew. He did in about ten seconds.
My response: “I know at least eleven!”
“Quaggan a piwate! Yarr!”
Quaggan Pirate and Ghost both got a bunch from me, then the Candy Day Cub and the AC Cub. =D Really didn’t give much to the others.
It is the finale.
ANet said they moved it to today because it was the day and time period that had the highest number of players playing the game at the same time. It was initially on the 31st, but people complained about it being in the middle of the work week, causing them to reconsider and move it to today.
It’s Bind on Pickup, meaning that once you receive it from the mail, it should be Soulbound. I’m not sure if it soulbound prior to it being removed from the mail, but because it is received in a quest mail rather than a general mail, you will only be able to receive it on the character that put it together.
You need six pages to turn them in for the Act I book. And here is the wiki article that has all of the information you could need for the event.
Xarinn, Charr Warrior, No Speed Boosts.
Loved it and hated it all at the same time. Glad I got my Boots though. =D
I’ve been getting the same error all day as well. Been able to play for a max of 45 minutes before I get a sudden disconnect because of it. Anyway, the I just ran the log thing, so here it is. Hopefully this get’s figured out soon, since I would like to do some dungeons, but without the random chance of disconnecting.
Also, is there a way to re-enable e-mail authentication if we disconnect the Google Authenticator application?

I’ve been using the authenticator for a while, though after the patch I’ve been getting the same disconnects. Error code is 7:1000:7006:836:101, as was brought up in the thread earlier. =[
Usually they release the patches earlier in the day, usually primetime for NA servers.
However, due to this patch being two things in one—a seasonal event and an actual expansion on content in-game—they probably had to do more testing on it to make sure everything worked as well as it could in a controlled setting before they set it to live. That is why the patch came out at the hour it currently did.
I do agree that patches should be launched in the wee hours of the morning, though with this patch being as anticipated as it has been, I’m kinda glad that it got released now rather than later.
A lot of people are having this. Simply allow the launcher to attempt to reconnect, as all of the servers were booted at the same time most likely and all are trying to download the patch at the same time so they can enjoy Halloween.
And now I can’t download it due to connection errors. continues to wait
Some of the things I’ve seen are account-bound, though I think there are a couple of things, like the temporary weapons, that are going to be soul bound.
Oh yeah, I filled this out. Slipped my mind due to finally getting a run for AC, but I did this. =]
6-7g. Quite happy with it.
You’ll know when we know. Because they never really announce when they are taken down, from what’s happened so far. Well, they do, with the three minute warning, but that’s about it.
To answer the question: Adding up the values on the table here, I came up with the answer 4,859,959. This means in two weeks (14 days), you’d have to earn 347,140 exp/day to reach 80; for a month (30 days), 161,999 exp/day is necessary.
Honestly, doing a mix of everything will get you to 80 reasonably fast. Everything being anything associated with map completion, dynamic events, personal story quests, crafting, and reviving any other players. Also, going to parts of the map that are less explored can help with experience gain, since enemies provide more bonus experience the longer they’ve existed in-game (I’ve gotten up to 1000 extra exp from these mobs, though that was in a 70+ zone). I’ve read that some players have been able to grind out to L80 through specific things, such as crafting, though I think ANet has fixed the scaling of that type of grinding to prevent it from being possible anymore.
Right at this moment, server transfers are unlimited and free, though you can only move once per 24 hour period. They will, at some point, disable free transfers by attaching a gem cost to them, but enable Guesting; however, you will not be able to access WvW for the map completion portion if you do guest onto a different server.
Most memorable moment so far for me was in sPvP. I was running with the repair kit and got a Warrior chasing after me. He’d use the sword’s charge ability, and I dodge out of the way at the last moment. I managed to repair the treb and exit from using it right as the guy started attacking me. We hacked at each other with our swords—my off-hand being warhorn, his shield—and managed to down each other at the same time with our bleeds. While in down state, we kept attacking each other until Vengeance became available. We both got up with the skill at the same time and continued attacking one another. Since neither one of us actually got the kill from the other, our Vengeance ran out and both of us died simulatneously.
‘Twas quite a fun battle that I had; sadly I can’t remember his name. =[
From top to bottom:
Most of the other stuff looks fine though. =]
Perhaps they don’t know how to sleep, so they have the eye open just to see if they have the sleeping thing down.
No, it’s because of an event that happened. It’ll bloom again after another event happens, iirc.
What you are saying is that people need to force others to acknowledge their fantasy and that for some reason is romantic.
So, if they made an option in-game that was “Disable all effects related to in-game marriage”, you’d be completely fine with the idea, because you’d have control over not seeing the content that other players could want?
Technically, MMORPG makers are starting to assume control of soo much detail in the story of their games that its effectively removing any “RPG” there is to be had from them. You aren’t roleplaying anymore at that point, you’re playing through a game that makes no room for your own story. I don’t know why this is soo hard to understand.
You are still assuming the role of the hero by controlling their actions, thus you are still roleplaying. RP Video games are interactive visual novels at most; you are presented with a set number of options, but you are still being pressed along through the story by the game itself. Also, developer for such video games want the player to still experience their vision of the story, even if the player tries to evade every opportunity to do so. And with every novel, the story comes to an end when the writer wants it to; Guild Wars 2 current storyline ends with the defeat of Zhaitan. Every player gets to experience, though the path that they took to get there is different, based on the choices they make during the story, as well as those during the character creation process.
And to remain on topic, yes, I am for the idea of in-game marriage. The most I would expect from it would be the ability to teleport to the one you are married to, provided you are at the same level or higher than them; also, a title wouldn’t be bad, seeing as they only display when you are tar getting the player.
Thats a bit narrow minded. its a MMO"RPG".
Whats narrow minded is thinking you’re going to add detailed sexual themes to a game that caters to people who have different opinions on these themes whether you like it or not, and that it will make everybody happy or was worth the time and effort.
How would an in-game marriage be detailed and/or sexual? At most it would allow RPers the ability to have some in-game acknowledgement that they are with someone else. And the idea of marriage in a game is romantic for some.
Are you imagination challenged? Can you not make up your own stories in your mind with video games? I think MMO"RPG" makers are already currently destroying the “RPG” by heavily scripting our games with stories much worse or cheesier than we could make up for ourselves.
RPG used to mean I got to make up my own story. It seems now a days its starting to take bioware’s definition as a cheesy animated comic book disguised as a video game.
Technically, you are taking the role of the hero of the story, in a game, so you are still playing a roleplaying game.
As I did with a thread over here, I just wanted to bring attention to the Guardian Staff skill Line of Warding, and that it can be used to shift around NPCs. I’m not sure if this spell is working as intended, but could the NPCs either be locked into place or be immune to this spell?
The heart quests have a variety of things you can do for them, some of which are kill certain types of mobs nearby. The reward you get for completing hearts is a small amount of money, starting around 40c and growing to around 4s. If you can complete and entire map area, you will get two pieces of gear, a stack of crafting materials, and a random BLTC Gem item (like a Black Lion Key or Transmutation Stones).
Armor slowly changes in appearance as you go through the game, though occasionally you can come across similar sets of armor. Dying armor can be done the moment you step into the world by opening up the Hero Panel (H) and clicking the little eye dropper above your armor. Customizing it can also occur pretty early as well, all it needs is a piece of equipment and a gem, rune, sigil, or talisman.
Why are NPCs movable through use of the Guardian skill, Line of Warding?
Reason I ask is that I spent the last fifteen minutes arguing with someone about moving Miyani, the NPC associated with the Mystic Forge, and that they shouldn’t do it since the skill wasn’t intended for that, as well as that it would inconvenience others from accessing her, since she wouldn’t be in her normal place. The person eventually gave in and are currently moving her back to roughly where she was, realizing that they could be banned for exploiting something completely unintentional. Also, the Bank in Lion’s Arch on Henge of Denravi is really screwed up with all of the bankers moved around, the Charr Banker currently stuck in a wall. Also, the nearby repairs NPC is currently swimming rather than being at his normal area.
Attachment shows Miyani being knocked over by the spell in question.
Here’s the wiki article on it.
To further explain, if you stack Condition Damage, you can increase the amount of damage an enemy takes from Confusion, though it takes 6-7 points of Condition Damage to increase damage output by 1. Also, the higher level they are, the better the damage is, because Confusion damage is based off of the level of the enemy (probably to make sure the damage scales properly when battling something slightly stronger). Also, like Bleeding and Vulnerability, Confusion as a Condition stacks intensity, meaning that each stack will increase the damage dealt, and each stack will decay based off of the time it was applied. Basically, applying two stack of Confusion at the same time would allow twice as much damage to be dealt with each attack the target does, though if you apply one stack of Confusion, wait two seconds, then apply a second stack, you can increase the duration of the damage the target is dealt by at two seconds, though two seconds prior to the second stack ending, the first stack will fade.
Also, occasionally, if you happen to close the dying window, without hitting the dye icon, the dye will apply itself if you wait a couple seconds for it to do so.
If you have any other characters, check their inventory.
Also, any of the special collectible ones (such as Rytlock) have their own section on the collection page, below the normal mini-pets collection area. Check there to see if it’s there.
If you did happen to accidentally drop it when going through your bags, as far as I can tell, you wouldn’t be able to get a second one.
The reason why Karma items can’t be salvaged is because people could stockpile the cheapest karma weapon and such, salvage it, and sell the materials to make a money return on it, and they are trying to prevent Karma from having a direct trade value to coin.
I do agree that they should make a new salvage kit for runes only, but at the same time, this could simply be solved if they made all karma equipment not drop materials unless they were transmuted for skins. This way you’d be able to save your runes, and they wouldn’t have to make another in-game item for a small number of specific cases.
20 and love it. =]
I don’t think the passive heal that the Healing Signet provides will proc the Might boon for 20 seconds because you aren’t actively using the heal to heal yourself. If you actually used the Signet to heal, however, then I imagine it would then provide the Might boon.
The Shatterer and Tequatl the Sunless are L50 and L65 events, respectively. Regardless of level, they are relatively easier when being handled by a large number of L80 players, due to traits. Also, both Shatterer and Tequatl are single part events, where as Claw of Jormag contains two parts (destroying the shield it puts up, and damaging the dragon itself). Because of those two things, I imagine they specifically placed them with Claw of Jormag only due to the amount of time it takes to down him, plus the battle isn’t any easier for L80s.
You should wait until you are of level to do the quest.
As for following the story, do what you feel is the best. What I did on my Warrior was that I cleared each map, starting with the lowest and worked up from there. If my story happened to be on a Level 15-25 map and I still had three L1-15 maps to clear, I waited until I completed the other maps before I went to said 15-25 map and did my story. Most story quest rewards are outleveled at the next multiple of 5 (Example: if you get a L23 set of gloves, the L25 set that you could craft or buy are better, regardless.) so I never really found an urgency to complete them other than for the story.
The only actual quests are your Personal Story ones. Beyond that, the only other “quests” are the Renown Hearts and the Dynamic Events that occur throughout the world.
I do agree that the Legendary weapons should have some story to go along with them, but I wouldn’t want the quest to require large group content and such, like other MMOs often tie their Legendary weapons to. Not sure how they worked in FFXI, but I imagine they did require large group content to complete.
Well, here is Xarinn, my awesome Charr Warrior. =]
I think all of the content is going to be available after Halloween, since it is placed in a separate portion of the update from the information on the actual Halloween event. =]
I generally watch them, but some times I skip them, simply because I like taking screenshots of the vistas and the current quality for screenshots is really low. =T
It has been theorized to be related to the Halloween event expected to happen. Information hasn’t been provided for the event, but apparently they should have either on the overnight tonight or tomorrow.
You should be able to sneak on to any Full server on the overnight into early in the morning, since the servers seem to fluctuate at that time. For the time being, you could play on one of the less packed servers; check every hour or so, and once it becomes High, you should be able to transfer.
