Stalwart Speed activates 5 times for SyG, but Quickfire is not activated multiple times even if quickness was applied multiple times at once. That is why I consider Stalwart Speed with SyG as an inconsistency.

Sorry if I am derailing the topic but with your experiences,, do you think minstrel chrono in fractal pugs worth it? I like playing support roles in fracs such as heal druid (aldo condi ranger and condi druid, which is such a treat) and zerk chrono, and minstrel seems like a good compromise between them.

It should be cast while moving to make up for it IMO. It has been nerfed too many times in damage and now CD, while still having the initially placed weakness to keep the skill in check.

So I can’t get online at the moment, how does Poison Volley work now? Does being ‘beside’ mean just being close or are there other requirements for that effect? Like, if I am close to target but in front of it, do I benefit from new effect and don’t benefit from old effect?

“Save Yourselves!”: This skill now grants 1.5 seconds of resistance, in addition to the other boons applied.

I feel like they could have been a bit more generous in the resistance duration, but after so long they finally added it. I doubt anyone is going to use this skill even with this change but still.

I think you are generalizing too much. Almost all hard hitting attacks in fractal are blockable. And I was also addressing those that wanted well’s previous version. A lot of mechanics can be skipped with ‘only’ an evade from the shared distortion, do you really want it to be even more prevalent?

As far as utility skills go its among the best that provide party defense. The hard hitting attacks you want to block in PvE rarely hit more than once per second, and on top of that you stun break, get endurance and alacrity. Not everything has to give full invulnurability in its duration and in this case it wouldn’t even be fair if you consider two traitlines you have to take for signets to provide distortion to group.

I have started playing chrono recently but before that I played DH a lot, which is, or was, the party block class. So I can say that in PvE for attacks that can be blocked, this skill one of the best in game considering its cooldown, pulsing nature and versatility.

As the skill pulses Aegis per second, there is room for attacks to land on you (a small window if you consider the attack speeds in PvE) so you can dodge inside the well to evade those attacks while your Aegis is ready to block right after your dodge ends, after which you get most of your endurance back.

Its a well that pulses Aegis for the party and even gives some endurance. Why do you want it to give overpowered stuff like blur or 30 sec cooldown when its already stronger than most other party defense skills other classes have?

I don’t think power reaper is very desirable, but DH is ok. Try to get an ascended scepter and torch (and maybe sword) for it so you can do higher dps if your group doesnt need prot.

Yeah, my DPS decreased about 2k (I usually get 31k, now getting 29k) from the trait nerf. But from a couple of golem tests, seems like using Trapper’s Expertise is = Sharpened Edges. This is without Pinpoint Distribution from engi, though.

Its good to hear trap trait is finally a viable alternative, but sad because it was due to nerf.

Depends on what other skins you use basically. When I started necro I used https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Malefacterym, with https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Wings_of_the_Sunless_ and some pieces of Primitive Armor (dyed with fleshy colors) for a flesh themed armor. You can do something similar with Witch’s Outfit too.

At the moment I am going with a whispers/jester theme that uses https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Kingmaker with https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Ceremonial_Scepter.

That’s only two builds. No matter what method you use on your druid to charge up AF, it’s still there for heals and GotL buffs.

You’re either running heal buff bot druid or condition DPS ranger. You aren’t getting into raid groups running zerk ranger.

Yeah, because thats what they have as class mechanic. Its like saying ele has 1 build because they use overloads with Harmonious Conduit.

A heal druid uses his CA primarily for heals, secondly buffs. He has plenty of astral force generation, so he can use his CA on cooldown and use his Quick Draw on CA and let it run for full 15 sec. He is likely to be given secondary jobs like flak kiting, KC orb pushing etc as he is durable with a lot of vitality and healing. He uses staff and sword/x.

A condi druid uses his CA primarily for buffs, secondly for heals. He has moderate amount of astral force generation, so he might not always use his CA on cooldown, uses his Quick Draw outside CA and exits CA after landing 5 stacks of GotL as not to lose too much astral force. He is generally treated as dps and actually does a good job at it. He uses shortbow and axe/torch.

So there is two different druids here. Even though they both heal and spread GotL, they have different focuses and playstyles.

I am not QQing guys, please. I am happy that necro got a buff, but it did literally nothing to improve our core issues at necro. Still, we provide nearly nothing for groups aside from (now) better than mediocre dps (woop de doo) and still we basically mash few cooldowns we have without a thought. Due to our many sources of chill (Chill Nova, Chilling Darkness, Shivers of Death etc), we dont do anything special to apply chill and thats why I consider Deathly Chill a somewhat passive trait.

As for people confused about RF 5 + 4, first puts an ice field and second is a whirl finisher, so overall it becomes a condi bomb due to Deathly Chill.

Edit 2: OanSur, as far as I have tried and seen Roasted Artichokes do not have a cooldown (%36 chance to chill on crit at night) so they might definitely compete with condi duration food. In addition, Well of Darkness might be worth using with Chilling Darkness now. Sigil of Mischief might be even better than Hydromancy, as it has higher range and applies a free blind with chill.

I am not saying condi necro shouldn’t be buffed, on the contrary, I want it to bring meaningful support and involve a more active playstyle – especially in PvE. A buff to basically a passive trait sure makes condi better, but its not a really healthy change.

I was already somewhat using traited trap heal on my condi druid for more astral force so Sharpened Edges nerf didn’t hit me too hard. GotL change seems Ok; although its now %2 per stack its going to be generally easier to maintain in raids – which translates to higher dps overall. Sucks for fractals though, but its not too bad. Pets will also hit more often to moving targets, and wyvern CC in particular is more reliable. Finally, Sharpening Stone is very good to use now, perhaps too good. I don’t know if it needed the buff.

I like the changes actually. Yes, they are not overtuned like some other class changes but I don’t think thats bad; those changes are bound to be pruned and brought to our level eventually.

Light field change was much needed, and it increases Hammer utility by a whole lot. Couple that with the nice buffs from GS, I think I might use the old school Hammer/GS build more. Shout heal looks decent with cooldown too. I wonder if these changes, coupled with previous 1 handed weapon buffs, might bring the old 5 guardian fractal parties.

This trait now applies 3 stacks of bleeds on chill. Its Dhuumfire all over again guys. This change doesn’t help the core issues condi necros have: decent utility with engaging playstyle.

On the plus side, my gimmick choice of food, Roasted Artichokes, might be meta on fractals now. I guess I was tryharding to frac with condi druid, back to condi necro auto spam with my cheap food.

Adding to what others said, GS can offer good utility and a bit of burst. When I use DH in frac (not so often anymore) I open up with GS 5 pull, 4 and 2 (3 optional for blind) then swap to Scepter/Sword/Hammer on trash and boss mobs (Uncategorized end boss, Mai final phase, Snowblind in general, Furnace in general, Molten when adds spawn during effigy, Subject 6 etc). Grouping up mobs is more important than having higher dps on a single mob. So GS is still good, but its more of a utility weapon than a main weapon.

Edit: If you want to dish out condi damage, you might want to look at Permeating Wrath with Scepter + Torch. On multiple targets your condition damage increases exponentially with this, and you don’t even need to have condi gear. What I used unorganized pugs was Zeal (3,3,3) – Virtues (varies, varies, 1) – DH (1 or 2, 2, 1 or 3) and Scepter + Torch / X, full zerk. With Procession of Blades and normal Scepter rotation you are able to stack up to 25 might on yourself almost all times (useful when noone gives might) and you will have over 1k condition damage.

As far as the world was concerned, Saul was dead or gone. We as players knew he was a drunken, gambler, thief etc, showed remorse when his men was killed and got taken away. Raid just showed his prison and added some interesting elements. Its fair to say this wing’s story isnt going be a basis for future stories.

I am in favor of a story mode with the condition that its not just an easier version of raid with less or no rewards – but its a different walkthrough like story dungeons, though I am not sure if its possible to make a mode like this.

My dream raid would be like a dungeon, for example you do a ‘story mode’ in which you clear the defense leading up to each first 3 wings(or paths) and get important information while at it. After clearing story mode, you can now open the raid instance and choose a wing like you do in dungeons.

The orange circles of Caucadus himself seem to rotate on a pattern. I died once to bloodstone harpy mob (name?) as I didn’t pay attention to it. If you kill adds as they spawn (like killing veterans in snowblind elemental boss) then you can get rid of the randomness.

I am kind of a new ranger and played condi ranger/druid extensively in T4 and raids. However, I am also making an ascended healing set for fractals, as LFGs seem to demand that a lot more than another condi slot.

Both might and vulnurability increase condition damage along with power. In power builds you also pump a lot more chill than condi. Not that I don’t agree with you, but there isn’t anything better in GM for straight damage.

I am not condenscending or anything. Yes, matchmaking can be borked sometimes and when you try to rise above with 50 wr you will get harder games. Its not going to be as pretty as helseth streamed. But if you keep doing it you are bound to get to where you belong.

Also, about older accounts having lower MMRs, its not like someone else played them
and got those. If low MMR from previous season is the problem, now is the chance to improve it for next season at the very least. The fact that ESL players can climb to leaderboards and even reach where their main account is with a new account further shows skill plays a large part.

Such salt in this thread. I don’t get it really, what else do you want to see to admit elo hell doesnt exist? People arguing against this desperately cling on to the fact that he is an ESL player and he ‘took advantage of less skilled players’ or was in ‘lucky comps’…

Him being an ESL player doesn’t mean anything, its just allowed us to see a whole enjoyable journey of bronze to legendary – where he belongs. If a gold skill level player streamed his journey would end at gold, if he is silver skill level it would end at silver etc. It may take shorter or longer to get there, as luck isn’t nonexistant. But this shows that whoever you are, you will reach where you belong if you keep playing. If you cannot move anymore, then thats where you belong.

Big Game Hunter does oppose Permeating Wrath, so its a waste to take them both. That being said, I find Permeating Wrath better at situations I lack might in PvE. If I don’t have might, I usually swap Fiery Wrath with Zealous Scepter and go with Permeating Wrath, as having 25 might is that important.

You can still get CC from traps from slow, but I never used traps primarily for CC. Bane Signet, F1 pull and weapon skills are usually enough. As for why DH is worth it, it provides more dps than any other line and decent utility.

Moa only used heal without using Frenzied Attack if it was out of range of target and not full health, range at which it uses heal might be random. At melee range it used heal some 5-10 sec after Frenzied Attack. I would say this skill is only reliable for encounters that have more or less a stationary target which deals damage over time.

So is it based on nearby ally health rather than moa’s own health? And if I have another moa on swap, do they share cooldowns? If it is based on nearby ally health and there is a nearby ally with low health, will moa use Harmonic Cry first thing when I swap to it?

Edit: It seems that having Frenzied Attack on cooldown is a requirement, but Harmonic Cry isnt used immediately after that. Nearby ally health or ally proximity don’t seem to affect it, but I believe moa’s health is playing a part.

Great, one of the very few PvE changes in the patch is a hard nerf to guard :/ going from 100 insta cc points down to 75 points over 1,5 sec…

well as we all know, all raid/fractal group only accept guards, we need that nerf to make room for atleast a few temps.. or wait.. what?

I wanted to make a condi class as I have enough power classes. Choice came down to ranger vs warr (necro is just bland) and I liked ranger theme and skills better than warr in the end.

That being said I have a zerker ascended set for ranger as well so I might try it off in future.
