I wish they removed the longer revealed in spvp, then i could finally play D/D like i do i WvW, in WvW d/d rocks.

Choose a race for the looks and you will be perfectly fine. Racial skill does not matter at all.

Tbh, WvW on low lvl is nothing similar to lvl80 WvW, the only pvp you gonna get as low level is running around with a shortbow in a zerg trying to tag as many enemies as possible for loot.

At 80, you will be able to roam freely outside the zerg safety zone, and when you do that, you will be killed by me and many other thieves no matter what your weapon is.

To sum it up, lowlvl in wvw, just bring a shortbow and follow commander, and at 80, get to 80 before worrying about that.

Here is my charr, looks pretty cool.

In my opinion, there is no story that matters for thief, just go race for looks, all story is forgotten after you been level 80 for 1 year.

You do not gain any special abilites or stats or skills for being a crafter, there is no best crafting for thief or any class. Only reason to craft is for exp while lvling or that you wanna craft your own gear which take alot more effort than just buying it from tradepost.

edit: dont bother crafting, its kitten and a waste of time, everything you will ever need for your thief is avaible in tradepost for gold. <— my opinion.

This idea is kitten, i like to be able to speak with any random person, at any time, anywhere on the WvW map im on. This is a social game.. not some weird mute anti social.

Divinity has always been overrated for thief…

Switch to traveler if you want an extra utility skill.

Even though i see alot of thieves, none of them are actually good, they all suck compared to all guardians, necro, warriors.

It has never bothered me. I think thief trait tree is the easiest one to build whatever you want your thief to be.

Some trees that confuse the kitten out of me is guardian.

Funny thing with last refuge is when I see my enemy proc it, 8 out of 10 times he is downed when the stealth ends.

1. I fight more people than I can handle.

2. I Fight someone more skilled than me.

3. Last refuge.

4. My dedication to kill or die trying.

I just leveled my second thief to 80 and what i did was use Sword main hand and pistol offhand, have signet of malice. Auto attack or pistolwhip, buy fine(blue color item) gear and weapon from trade post, update it every 10 or 5 lvl, up to you and your money.

When mobs become to hard, change map to another same level map. Example, you are on caledon forest 1-15 map, you have trouble there, go to human start map Queensdale 1-15 and finish that one, so you become higher level and have a easier time in caledon forest.

How i play in WvW dont work in Spvp :/ Switching between WvW and Spvp dont feel natural.

You are wrong, it does not proc for every tick of bleed, that would be extremely strong, having signet of malice proc 25 times per second with 25 stacks of bleed…

It only procs on direct damage or on caltrops the application of bleed, not the individual bleed tick.

I would like to see a thief who can play d/d bleed good, because ive never seen one.

There is only 3 basic set of gear that you need to be able and enjoy everything.
With these you can play dps, tank and condition dps. All other armors are optional and personal preference.

Berserker – Power/precision/crit damage

Soldiers/invader – Power/thougness/vitality

Carrion – Power/vitality/ condition

For this build you don’t need anything in the deadly arts or critical strikes tree.

0/0/30/10/30 is what is going to be one of the most viable with P/P.

Shadow Arts- Shadow’s embrace, Hidden Thief (Stealth on steal) , And Shadow Rejuvenation.
Acrobatics- Either Power of Inertia, Or descent of Shadows (Of your choosing)
Trickery- Sleight of hand, Ricochet or Bountiful theft, and for the first tier either uncatachable or instinctual response (Of your choosing)

Your armor stats should have Precision/Toughness/Condition damage (Being your main stat). x6 runes of perplexity of course.
Pick the sigils of your choosing.
Utilities: Shadow refuge, Caltrops, 3 utility anything of your choosing, and Elite skill any of your choosing. Bassi venom would be preferred.

I started this build about 4-5 days ago. It’s worked well. My armor rating is roughly around 2.8, with 16k hp. Condition damage I can get up to 2k with might stacks, and food.

I think the build should be 0/0/30/20/20, so you get extra dodge.

Caltrops are only useful vs melee, but even then its easy to avoid. I think blinding powder might be better since you have guaranteed stealth with condi removal, heal and a sneak attack.

Yes, make this rune to spvp.

This makes p/p fun to play compared to unload spam.

To make the heartseek 1200 leap viable, it should be instant teleport.

Thief isnt for you, maybe gw2 isnt for you. Dota is not mmo, dota sucks.

Backstab cleave would not be that op. Good luck getting 2 or more people next to each other with their back against you. If you happen to find 2 targets standing next to each other and having their back against you, they deserve to be backstab cleaved

Does the rune only give 1 stack of confusion for each daze?

EDIT: Applies 5 stacks of confusion on interrupt. The ingame text was pretty unclear “Causes 10 seconds of Confusion on interrupt.”

EDIT again: I just bought the runes and fooled around with p/p full carrion 0/0/20/20/30. Headshot interupts auto attacks, so it was easy to stack confusion against most people and I am surprised how well it works.

1 problem is when someone use stability.

I really need some help. I’m close on finishing the dreamer, and can’t decide if i want it on a thief or a ranger. I favor the thief profession more, but i’m not sure if its worth it. I don’t pvp or wvw, i do only dungeons/pve/events.
Not sure how much the short bow will serve me in dungeons/pve/events. I got to play a thief in a dungeons and cant say i really used the short-bow a lot. I love the short bow tagging, but not sure if its enough to put the dreamer on a thief.
On other hand, short bow on rangers is kind of poop because aoe is almost non-existent, and its quite annoying, the only thing i like about short bows on ranger is the fast and addictive animation. I’m really in a pinch! help!

I would recommend you to chill for a month or 3 and then see if you still like thief. Because what you are writing, indicates you are a newbie and you dont actually play thief that much…

Engineers are starting to make me rage abit… Is it l2p or is it their class that suddenly became kitten strong.

The only times Last refuge kittens me up is when i use cloak and dagger the same time as it pops, which takes me out of stealth and makes me revealed and often killed in a bad situation. I dont see how this would fix that.

I am assuming you mean that, if you have reveal debuff and last refuge pop, you still go stealth.

I don’t understand how you guys are randomly breaking stealth with throw gunk.

It only breaks stealth if you use it when stealthed (same as any possible attack you use while stealthed), you save it for the next rotation, while waiting for revealed to go you throw it, then CnD and combo through it. The pulsing doesn’t break stealth (like choking gas and caltrops pulsing). If you just can’t wait to push f1f1f1f1f1f1f1f1f1f1 then it’s not the item’s fault. Last Refuge is umpredictable chaotical garbage that can kill you, Throw Gunk gives tactical advantages and only breaks stealth if you (intentionally) use it, like if you hit CnD a second time for example, if you break stealth because you kept attacking it’s your fault, not the skill.

I admit that during the first days many times I used it while stealthed, but it’s just learning that you use it before CnD and that’s all.

Yes each pulse counts as direct damage, which reveals you.

I steal + stealth on the engineer, then I want to do it again, but I have gunk on the hotbar, so I have to throw it on the ground and someone might step on it and reveal me. Its quite bothersome during a fight having gunk when you yourself rely on stealth and people are running after you and you want to steal + stealth again.

So yeah, I know exactly what it does, and I usually have to run away to throw it in a safe spot to not have some random person, summon, clone or pet step in it.

I seriously think runes are overrated, just use orbs. If you are just going for damage, take orb. You wont see any difference.

Unless you are going for some specific rune thingy like animal summon, boon duration, boon proc, condition duration, condition proc etc.

Seriously? It’s our most functional weapon set, but it doesn’t make a bad player better.

Well, with d/p it lets people survive encounters that they wouldnt have done in any other weapon set.

I dont see a d/d thief fight 5 people and kill them all, but a d/p can do that Stood and watch this thief kill a bunch of people and i knew that with any other weapon set, they would easily have killed him.

The high damage a mesmer can do to a thief in full carrion is ridicilous, you can blow him up in a few seconds.

Most mesmers suck so badly, that i underestimated this guy, I steal + CnD + sneak attack, then he took off 50% of my hp(which is 22k) in a second and i have to use the stunbreaker, then i stealth and heal up, sneak attack and he takes away 50% of my hp again and now my stunbreaker is on cooldown and im dead, that took 10 seconds.

5 tickets cost 20 silver and 15 cogs.

You gain 50 silver and 25 cogs.

The profit is 30 silver and 10 cogs per win with 4 gambits.

Gambits used is Hamstrung, no dodge, burned and bleed.

The ignorance from people are disturbing… Ive been called out by several people to be a heartseek spammer, when im standing on their corpse.

I use heartseek when people are at 0-50% hp and when i need to gap close, some classes just get away from you real easy and you need to get closer and you use heartseek to do that.

When someone is at 50% hp, it takes basically 1-3 heartseekers to finish them off. If you complain about this, complain about how our skill works, not that we spam them, what other option do we have… auto attack just to please you? wtf.

Yeah, I had to switch to a non stealth build, im at last boss now. The revealed debuff sucks.

The problem is your weapon set, if you want to hard counter a bleeder thief, just go with d/p,d/d or s/d and use remove condition on stealth and heal in stealth. This makes a bleeder thief completely useless, every 3rd second you go into stealth you remove all his bleeds and regain hp.

Then he have 2 choices, run or die. He cant do anything to beat you at that point.

They should give unload the evade back that shortbow has, that would be pretty good.

Shadowstrike is still not worth using in my opinion…

Cloak and dagger cost 6 ini, shadowstrike cost 4 ini. Cloak and Dagger gives 4 sec stealth and sneak attack with 5 bleeds. And in most builds stealth removes conditions and heal you and blinds your target.

Shadowstrike gives 2 torment stacks and teleports you away.. but anyone with range can keep on attacking you.

Can someone tell me why you use shadowstrike over cloak and dagger, to open my eyes to something i missed, because i just dont see how it can benefit you.

There is 5 people in the combat log hitting you in that short duration, ofcourse you died instantly HAHAHAHAHA.

Berserker gear, d/d or d/p or p/p or s/d and shortbow.

For WvW roaming…

Both are useful, both are easy to play, both are strong.

Get both sets of gear, and play what you feel like atm.

its a magical thing called your healing signet, heals for almost as much as mid ranged retal therefore its a counter. If you spam unloads and think you are gonna win because of that please tell me again how you are totally a skillful player that uses his skills wisely and situationally. The Pistol/pistol thief can do is spam unload and a kittenty auto attack, all other skills are situational like interupting a heal and hiding in blackpowder, but wtf is using headshot or blackpowder gonna do to help me against a guardian with permanent retaliation on him?

And signet of malice sucks horrible, hide in shadows or withdrawl is so much better. Everytime you see a thief with signet of malice, you know he is a pve person or clueless, because ive never been killed by one thief using signet of malice, because the healing wont keep you alive.

Btw, spamming heartseek is very good thing to do when people are at low health, lets say 25%, so what did you say again?
