Mace needs some love

I am curious how Mace can be handled in the other professions that do not have them yet.

Thief could easily use it like a blackjack (small club). Engineer could also use it like a one handed hammer (also a wrench skin already exists on mace). Necromancer could use it as a condition based melee weapon.

Don’t you realize your game feels incredibly spammy already? Why are you lowering CDs when you should be doing the exact opposite?

I disagree. I am glad we are finally getting cd reductions. Long cooldowns are NOT fun!

Here’s hoping that carries over to every single Elite skill that takes longer than 150 seconds to recharge eventually in future balance patches.

Why was the Mending change only in spvp? It’s arguably the worst heal on Warrior right now and the recharge reduction would help it quite a lot. Classifying it as a Physical would also make it sort of like Mirror (traited) with Warriors being traited for Physical skills.

Edit: The only other thing that bothers me patch wise is Time Warp still being at 180 seconds to recharge, I think with Wells, it’s sort of made redundant to have with how long it takes to recharge. 80-90 seconds would probably see it getting more use.

Sword Auto Attack Animation

Sword 1 chain needs to grant Superspeed.

They took away amazing mobility and replaced it with nothing.

Easiest solution, get rid of the awful jump back on skill 2, only have the leap to target part (add evasion frames to compensate for loss of first part).

The Grenade kit is just invisible when I equip it on my Charr Scrapper. Every other weapon kit shows up fine.

Still holding out for a Tactic Grandmaster Banner trait in place of Powerful Synergy which would be moved to where the only banner trait presently in the game is right now in Discipline (it’s really not that useful, especially competing with a shout trait and phalanx strength).

As long as the damage nerfed from the auto attack goes to skills two and three to make up for what is lost, that would be fine. That way energy would be required to reach the higher damage auto attack used to have.

It is objectively the worst looking effect in the game and isn’t consistent with any other effects in the game. Why can’t it be like the guardian’s elite signet aura? That actually looks like an effect that fits with the game. Better yet, why isn’t it crystals surrounding us… given Glint is a CRYSTAL dragon after all. I don’t think of a disco circle when I think of crystals. The sound effects that play with facets up would even fit with crystals making resonating sounds.

I think you all are acting very dramatic towards something that, functionally, makes no difference.

It affects gameplay because the effect can cover red circles and cues for certain skills or abilities.

Except it doesn’t cover them. The red circles still show up bright red over the top of the aura.

Except it’s hardly noticeable if that is indeed the case, during Teq my herald is the only character I cannot properly see red circles, I can see them just fine on any other character I play on.

It’s called an opinion, better get used to it. Personally I love the design, but I could do without the sound, and I understand why people would want them gone. An option to toggle them would be the only choice.

It’s the fact that people think it is fine right now and doesn’t need to be changed at all they think the stretching is fine by saying that. Those are the people I don’t understand.

Why does anyone want the circle to stay? It is objectively the most horrific looking effect in the game with how badly it stretches over different level terrain.

Yeah, it’s the center effect that needs to go, it stretches horribly too if you go up or down terrain.

That picture was so good and visualizing of what many have tried to explain that drastic measures must be done. I’ve never used this one during the betas but here goes nothing!

Here’s a picture showing an alternative approach that I would have liked a lot better instead of that 2d ground decal. Small crystals hovering near you for the active facets, just like one of the quests in Auric basin.

Then the color can be different depending on the facet.

This is pretty much exactly what I was suggesting, really hope they go with this.

To people who want it to remain as it is, why? It is a poorly done effect that affects combat visibility in a negative way and doesn’t really make it clear what it is a Herald has up since most people can’t make out the icons around the circle.

1) Why legendary weapons have effects?
2) Why some skills has visual effects? like empowering on guardian or something?!
3) Why there are shinny nice looking dyes? (like celestial during the day)

I am, strongly, against taking this visual effect away!

1. Because that’s the entire point and the effects are much more well done
2. Because they are generally done in a way to tell you what it is and looking at bare minimum acceptable, all of the other effects look superior
3. None of which are obtrusive and the effect dyes look much better

It looks horrible in its current form (worse than anything else in the game) and doesn’t really do anything but be an eyesore (to be fair, it’s nowhere near as bad as the Dark Souls lava effect, but still).

To be fair, they could potentially alter the Shiro heal crystal effect (as in use that for the new herald Glint effect, Shiro heal of course remaining as it is) to have one crystal per facet being upkept and have it be a different color depending on which facet it is. Blue for regen, orange for might, yellow for swiftness, red for fury, green for nature, purple for protection.

Would be nice to get an update on this, it’s the center circle effect that is terrible, it hides red circles and generally just looks bad when going vertically up or down while walking. It either needs to be completely removed (the icons that were at the edge remaining) or needs to be about 50 percent more transparent.

Facets are broken now, they are randomly ending while upkeeping them when energy isn’t an issue and I am not personally ending them. This is really annoying because I use facet of elements to get around fast and now it just stops for no reason. Keep in mind I am in the Glint stance.

Well this confirms my worst fear, I won’t enjoy my Revenant at all then and will be forced to take stuff I don’t even want JUST to get the elite specialization, I really hope this is changed or the hero points required are significantly reduced, after all there is supposed to be new elite specializations in the future as well, doesn’t seem fair for the first to be so taxing in the requirements.

Yes, my biggest concern is the mouse buttons being bindable exclusively for the action camera control set and not while it is off. I’d really like my right mouse button to be my dodge like it is in combat mode.

I didn’t see anything about there being custom binds for this action camera, I’d prefer having dodge be on the right mouse button instead of the targeting thing with it active. I don’t see any reason this couldn’t be the case since it’s apparently a separate mode anyway.

Flamestrike is the most underperforming skill imo, at bare minimum needs the cast time halved and preferably reduced further to make it less clunky. Damage can remain the same as this fix will increase damage output.

And they did update Flamestrike (fire auto attack) except it was the wrong issue… I’m shocked they didn’t reduce the cast time, might as well not have even touched the skill if they weren’t going to do that.

Also known as axe 2, the actual damage does happen at 900 range, but the animation still only goes the original 600 (the spinning axe).

It’s laughable they didn’t fix what was wrong with Flamestrike since they changed part of it… it wasn’t the damage, it was how absurdly long it takes to cast, needed its cast time reduced by half at minimum, that is the whole reason it is so bad and clunky. They change cast times all the time when they balance skills, this is quite an easy change for them to do.

The auto attack on fire having a much faster attack speed (need to be at least half of what it currently is)

DPS on all air skills buffed across the board

Earth auto attack less awkward (technically I could overlook this if these other two changes happened)

They have the same number of weapons on land as Thief.

Revenant = Sword mainhand, Sword offhand, Mace Mainhand, Axe Offhand, Staff, Hammer, Whatever they get from elite spec

Thief = Sword main hand, Pistol Mainhand, Pistol Offhand, Dagger Mainhand, Dagger Offhand, Shortbow, Whatever they get from elite spec

As I’m assuming the all races being playable applies to Revevnant.

Male Norn Revenant to test out dual sword + weapon swap + shiro legend

Male Human Necromancer to test out greatsword (also make the necro I had originally intended to make, didn’t because Nolan North just doesn’t sound evil lol).

Male Sylvari Guardian to just see what longbow is like (I mean it has to be better than scepter playstyle wise for me I’d hope).

Only my Revenant would be going into Verdant Brink of the characters.

Well I’ll find out in 3 days if I’ll be retiring my Elementalist (until another Elite spec comes out), I never liked any of their weapons to begin with (outside of Air Dagger / Dagger which I dislike most of the other attunements on dual daggers) and I am not fond of the fact that there is no way to have his build even be remotely close to what it was pre-specializations or something I actually like using. It’s just a naive hope that it would be mainhand, but I know it probably won’t be.

I’m assuming they are just getting spear for this since it would be bizarre for them to not have anything to use underwater for the Revenant weekend since they would be completely useless without it in say that Krait fractal.

They are unlikely to get more than one underwater weapon set – they can’t switch weapons anyway.

Which I never implied they would, I say spear because Ele uses trident, Engineer uses Harpoon gun, so that leaves just Spear for a class that can’t weapon switch.

Would personally rather see a Banner grandmaster which brings back reduced cooldown and increased effective range, might as well just merge the Banner trait they had kept (which is rather useless) with it.

It’s like how Powerful Synergy simply cannot compete with Phalanx Strength or Vigorous Shouts, now if there were a Banner grandmaster trait there, all 3 would be perfectly balanced.

If the new specialization system is supposed to be about hard choices, then that’s just a sacrifice they’d have to be willing to make if they want certain perks. Make people have to go down certain trait lines to get certain things. If Mesmer players want the movement speed buff, they have to sepc to Chronomancer over other elite specializations or normal specializations. or simply accept they can’t get that if they want another elite specialization.

Edit: Better yet, just merge this trait with the new Chronomancer trait, well the part not related to movement speed per illusion anyway.

Shouts (already confirmed I believe) and Mantras are what I’d like to see. I like the idea of prepared spells for instant use. I also run a shout Warrior and Guardian so no surprise I’d like to see more shout skills.
