Ragnaros and the other “Lords” of their respected element were a few of the original living entities in the Warcraft universe. They roamed Azeroth, causing conflict with each other until they were eventually sealed into their elemental domains by the titans. Ragnaros is a powerful elemental. Not a god.
Balthazar is a “Human God,” which based on the story of Dhuum and Grenth seems to be a Pirate Captain Roberts kind of situation, where you can inherit or usurp the Godhood out of a god and take it for yourself, or leap frog the person that did all of the heavy lifting and take it for yourself (Kormir). Whether Balthazar is an original god or not is not clear, but he is far more than a mere elemental that a level 60 and later a level 85 faceroller can defeat.
There are no similarities outside of the fire element.

I wonder if the Greatsword cooldown redux/damage/heal trait will ever get looked at :/
At HoT launch, the devs said that they wanted Reaper to be a slow moving “Jason-esque” type of monster that did a lot of damage when they got in range. Mobile classes do the same, if not more damage than Reaper. That should change.
The old tomes were clunky, and as stated before, only really used for quickness. Considering that they weren’t a staple part of a type of build, the new F1~F3 functionality seems very appropriate. Meanwhile… Spirit Weapons…
My dollar to entertainment hours ratio has already made the ultimate edition purchase worth it; however, that being said, I’m still greatly disappointed in the product that we received.
It wouldn’t be called Necromancer if it didn’t have any bugs.
Edit: Try it again and double check if you are affected by Weakness. It removes your ability to crit entirely.
Welcome to the dumbing down of the genre. Casualization has severely kitten mmorpgs, and thus, any triple A title is going to cater to the broadest audience of Jerry’s kids. If you want your community back, you’re going to have to find an indy mmo. Luckily, some are popping up in a while.
I would have preferred something less intrusive like small crystals hovering near you for whatever facets are active with each having a different color based on the facet.
Great idea
So after trying to use Death Spiral on a chilled target, I only got a single stack of might. Does the language of the tooltip only refer to single attacks in an AoE sense? ie: Chill five enemies around you and then do another shout or something to hit 5 people and get 5 stacks of might? Do any of you favor Chilling Victory over the other two choices for tier 2?
Does it make sense lore-wise? Yep
Do you get six utilities, two heals, and two elites? Yep
Perhaps what you mean to complain about are:
Do major traits have decent cooldowns? Nope
Are Jalis and Ventari allergic to water? Yup
How are you all enjoying that sweet ranged condition weapon? …
It needs some serious transparency added
Hmm, there appears to be something up with this, actually. I’ll post some screenshots, but it looks like when I have 0 healing power, BB is giving more healing than the tooltip. When I have 1500, the tooltip is actually right on the money.
Also, you are correct – it doesn’t scale very well at all. It goes from 192 – 215 (0 – 1525 healing power, respectively).
This makes Quaggan sad.
I’ll check again here in a few. I’ll read the combat log.
Tooltip. /15char
How was Blighter’s Boon changed? I think I missed something.
Your allies can no longer proc it at all, only the Necromancer’s own boons can grant LF/heal. In return for losing a massive amount of its teamfighting strength, we got an extremely mediocre buff to the heal.
The scaling is pretty bad, too. With full Crusader’s weapons/armor/trinkets (503 Healing Power) it only increases the healing by 9.32043204320950252% (The decimal values are hyperbole, but you get the kitten point.) This isn’t worth the decrease in availability for this trait to work. It needs either a larger buff to base healing and/or scaling, or access to more ways to proc it.
Weakening Shroud has the bonus of crits giving weakness, so it has a purpose outside of shroud as well, which is something that Spiteful Spirit could use.
Going by that logic of weakening shroud… It should give retal on getting hit with a icd?
That’d be the best way to go about it.

There is nothing legendary about Eir, or anyone else from Destiny’s Edge sans Rytlock, and that’s only because of his relic weapon. Koss is more legendary than Eir since he actually played a role in some good old fashioned deicide, (as well as killing another Revenant “legend.”) Eir was a member of a guild that fell apart from petty drama.
The synergy with Bitter Chill is pretty alright. If anything, the big flaw of this rune set is that the chill radius is shorter than the radius of our shouts.
you have no idea how much I wish there was power+toughness+Ferocity.
I want it so bad
I want it like I want bacon,
or ice cream
or love.
Crusader is the closest thing. I’m rocking a full set of it right now. It’s pretty nice.
Rise! minions benefit from your traits. One thing to bear in mind with bone minions vs. shadow fiend is that with the Death Magic trait that transfers condis, the minions give you 2 transfers instead of just 1 like the shadow fiend would do.
Not everything in this game has to be fast. Keep the speed as it is and increase its damage.
Mine too /15char
No, Deathly Chill is condition based.
New Revenant Legend confirmed
Reaper has some pretty nice choices for traits. One that has been eating at me is tier 1. Do you all feel it’s worth giving up CDR for shouts for the nova?
Am I the only one here that is so shallow that I hate using it just because it’s so kitten ugly?
I didn’t exchange builds much, but by Ishtar, I made a ton of “picture stories” with the icons. Poke the baby!
Anyone remember Orr on release?
Which part? The stone wall until more people arrived? or getting pulled everywhere from the insane mob density and their “Get Over Here” pulls? I mostly remember the latter.
Apparently…
Marauder: Power, Precision, Ferocity, Vitality.
Crusader: Power, Toughness, Ferocity, Healing Power.
Wanderer: Power, Vitality, Toughness, Concentration.
Minstrel: Toughness, Healing Power, Vitality, Concentration.
Commander: Power, Precision, Toughness, Concentration
Viper’s: Power, Condi, Precision, Expertise
Trailblazer: Toughness, Condi, Vitality, Expertise
Vigilant: Power, Tougness, Concentration, ExpertiseDistribution is apparently 108/108/59/59 .
Are these values for exotic or ascended, though?
As much as I’ve been double tapping space in Tyria, I think gliding would change the way a few jumping puzzles and the like work. Especially the gentle, sweet deaths that occur from failure.
It’s the opposite for me. The new difficulty increase makes the combat more engaging, and the maps and mastery system remind me of the olden days of Metroid and the like. You find something, but you need to come back later after unlocking your freezing missiles. The only complaining that I’ve seen, really, is by people who want their hand to keep being held and want to power rush through the content in a single playthrough, with zero backtracking, like the rest of vanilla GW2. Good on Anet for changing the system.
WvW is an option too
So I suppose an acceptable amount of info as to what HoT will have at launch has been announced, but the thing putting me on the fence is that not a lot has been stated about the future. Have fractals completely replaced dungeons now? Is the one raid all that we are getting for the expansion? Is there a roadmap?
Dynamis currency…
Perhaps you should be looking for a job instead of gaming. Just a thought.
It’s worth it. 15char
I’m referring to Pre-Purchase from the GW2 website.
Thank you. 15char
Will pre-ordering the ultimate edition of the game give me two more character slots? or just one?
They need to get rid of the projectile based pull and teleport for grasp and dark pact. And Grenth forbid that you are 5 feet above ground level when you use grasp, only to see the target flinch for a second and not move because of kitten pathing.
I think they should just scrap its current skill set and turn it into a melee bleed weapon… Lots of bleed.
A while back I read some posts pertaining to stats that scale with your phantasms; however, nobody seemed to be sure if crit damage scales or not. Does anyone know if crit damage scales?
No. In PvE, I spam the kitten out of dancing dagger, cluster bomb, and in cc heavy scenarios, infiltrator strike. I have yet to die to a backstab/pistol whip/skillseeker thief since I focused on a balanced build instead of glass cannon. People need to understand that if they go glass cannon, they WILL die. The aforementioned thief types are so easy to shut down with cc, and they usually die in 1-2 dazes. imho, the hardest thieves to counter are well played lotus spammers, and p/d builds.
How about a working necromancer class?
It doesn’t help that the bots run around in packs. I was on my necro in Queensdale yesterday and saw what looked like 20 bears running toward me. I had to look at my mini map to see if I was in some DE I’ve never experienced. It was dynamic, and it was an interesting event, but once I saw their character names, it all became clear. “I wonder what Qindao’s latency is.” Then again, years of experience in FFXI has taught me that if the name is Japanese, it’s probably a westerner, and if it’s a western name, like Lucy, it’s probably a Japanese player. I’m so confused Anet! Help me out here.
The community affects lasting power over anything else. SWG wouldn’t have been the same without my guild and friends, same with FFXI. If you don’t have a solid group in the game, you might stay, you might not. It just depends what you look for in your games. I’m not a fan of the way that Anet is handling their issues (much less how the game was released in the state that it’s in,) but the game is beautiful and it’s still fun for me. When FFXIV round 2 comes, then I may make a switch. We’ll just have to see who can seduce me more, Anet or Squeenix.
What would your reaction be if you worked for so many hours to be able to afford a new car. You get the car, got to drive it around for a little bit, and then suddenly a guy shows up, rips the keys from your hands, and walks away. When you ask him, “Why?” He replies, “Because we are resetting everything. The economy is in the kitten, people are complaining about the 1%, and their cries are being answered.” Think of the legendaries Crazylegsmurphy. Think of the legendaries that our co-players have put their blood, sweat, hot pockets, jolt cola, and personal relationships into obtaining. Do you want to deny them of all of their sacrifice. I say nay. That would be foolish. (And it would make you a kitten.)
Personally, I think we should use the loot system that was used in Valkyrie Profile and Dragon’s Dogma. If you break the tusk off of your target, you get the tusk!!!! If you overkill the body, omg, bones! I never did like the fact that I can loot an uncommon (fine) greatsword from the corpse of a wolf (Much less the fact that said wolf can parry your attacks, but I digress.)
