Hey guys, so just installed the game again and bought Hot. So I got the level 80 boost with my purchase. Only class I have ever gotten to 80 was my thief. And I have very minimal game experience, with any mode.
I have leveled pretty much all classes to atleast 50. I am stuck right now on who I should boost for end game content. I would like to do the raids and fractals. Also a little WvW.
The choices I have come up with so far are necro, revenant, and ranger. Revenant is very odd for me so far. But I guess I could get used to it. I have tried a little bit of all of them. Which would be the best to take into raid/fractal/wvw?
Thank you, any details would be great.
So guys I am doing a total makeover kit on my original thief. It was the first ever character I made on release, and the only one I have kept the whole time. Plus my only level 80.
I didn’t do the greatest job when I made him the first time considering the armors and what not. I am either going to beef him up a bit, give him a new face, maybe increase his height a little, and new hair style. Or change gender to little tiny female.
What do you guys think would be the better option? I am at work at the moment, but I will post a pick of what my armor is now. Believe it is whispers hood, krytan coat, T2 human shoulders, gloves, pants, and boots.
I just went there. Did not see it or am I missing something.
So I read in the notes that you can get a special helm, and also some rewards from previous LS. Anyone know what this helm looks like and what the other rewards are. I know grenth hood was a purchasable item in GS. But would be super awesome if it was here again.
I have played the ESO beta, and gw2 blows out of the warer interms of gameplay.
I don’t know what else to say about it. The game play in gw2 just out does it in all aspects.
Unless Eso can make the hugest impact in mmo gaming ever seen, then it will fail to Guild Wars 2.
Specially if gw2 does an expansion type content.
Just wanted to say gw2 rules bnets graphics systems. And I love your pvp system.
You have been doing a hell of a lot better. Just stop the living story for a while.
And release something worth while.
Alright so I have been playing this game since the start. I have always been a huge fan of battle.net. I am a child of battle.net. First internet gaming idea I have ever seen is the diablo II globe.
But it is a totally different gaming community now. When I first saw other player was about ten years old. Diablo II was a Huge deal in my digital upbringing. But Diablo and blizzard has failed. I hate NCsoft. but I love what the anet team has done. eso might consume you all. . .. . . . . .. ..
Pretty much anything cool you could get was a one time deal. I took a 6 month break with out checking the content, and I missed all kinds of cool stuff (I am looking at you Grenth Hood……..). So Sad
Can’t believe guild halls were not implimented in the very beginning. These are great ideas. On the mount situation, I wouldn’t mind riding a kitten horse around tyria. Just for the look and maybe swiftness.
Only problem though, what in the kitten would my big charr ride on.
I hate that calculator. Doesn’t work.
Hey guys I have been playing gw2 for around 3 months now. Have not done any LS stuff. Mostly have just been leveling and pvping.
Question is do I need to be max level to do the LS and get all the acheivment points for it. Also can you get decent XP for LS.
Thanks guys
You are correct on all the pieces. Just made my charr warrior to start collecting the pieces.
By chance do you guys know what dye the shiny silver is. Makes steel armor look really good.
So I have been trying to make a charr warrior, but all the armor I use on him just looks ugly. Could you charr professionals please help me out and tell me all the equips this guy is wearing. Also the armor color would be helpful because that looks awesome.
Also the best body type for heavy armor if that is possible.
Well made a human and charr war, and went in to the mists for some testing. The results are charr looks so bad in armor compared to humans. The clipping not that big a deal, but the stretching is horrible. Its like they took human made armor and stretched it over charr body. Helmets are just hilarious, and bad on charr.
Human looks great in all armors, sorta like all armors were made to fit the human race.
Charr could look super cool, but I think there is too much hunching and short little legs for it to work.
In pvp I enjoy running 0/0/30/10/30. With hammer/LB, Utilities: healing sig, bull charge, zerker stance, and dolyak sig, ulti: signet. This is pretty much your average hambow build. You can also switch out LB for axe/shield and switch a few traits around. Use zerker ammy and lyssa runes for the crit and condi cleanse with ulti.
As for thieves their blinds can pretty much shut you down. Pretty much kill them before zerk stance runs out, and make sure to use your full burst to cleanse 3condi with ire.
Guards are very survivable. Kinda just have to roll with the punches until their defenses wear out. Guards with a lot of stability are a good counter to any control build.
Hey guys so I am not sure which race for my warrior that I am going to create. I have narrowed it down to charr or human. Which do you think looks the best in heavy armor and has the best animations for warrior.
Thanks for your suggestions.
Go heavy or go home lol. (but seriously)
Well to start out instead of open world pvp there is WvW maps that you can go to. PvP arena’s are totally seperate from PvE and WvW, as in different equips and you are automatically at 80.
Learn to dodge roll. Combat is a lot more action pact then in WoW. Less passive mitigation a lot more active.
If you like exploration then you should love gw2, because 80% of the game is all exploring. I feel like everything in gw2 is a lot less main streamed than in WoW.
As for class there is a ranger class that has a pet, but from what I hear there are a lot of problems with the pet. I would suggest warrior or guardian because they are the easiest to survive with while you first start out.
Last but not least forget everything you know about tanking and healing. No designeted tanks or healers in gw2. The meta for PvE is pretty much just run full zerker gear and put out as much damage as possible without dying.
I have had the same exact problem. Just got into WvW and dungeons, but can’t decide on which to get to 80. I have gotten both to level 45 in the last week just don’t want to go further with both.
I think I am going to end up taking my guardian to 80. Reason being it just seems like guardian can do just about the same dps, just with cooler blue fire animations. Only downside is the health pool and warrior has a lot easier and more of mobility. That being said with some boon duration runes and staff with “Retreat” I can have full up time on swiftness. Only loosing some mobility moves on greatsword.
I mean who doesn’t want a magical warrior with a greatsword shooting blue flame everywhere?
Hey guys got both classes to 40ish deciding which one to take on to 80 for small group roaming (2-4) and solo roam. Which one do you think performs better in general.
Thanks for the replies.
So pretty much if you want to be defensive/defensive boons/heals and play with zergs go guardian. And if you want to be more offensive/offensive boons/more passive defense and play solo/small groups go warrior.
Does that pretty much summarize it?
Hey guys which heavy is better for PvE solo/dungeon/fractals, WvW solo roam/small group roam. Looking to get one up to 80 for main. Love the GS/hammer and heavy armor look.
Having a lot of trouble deciding.
Hey guys, trying to decide if I should make a female or a male human warrior. Which do you think heavy armor looks better on, and also the animations.
I know you can go to the HotMs, and try on stuff but I would really like your opinions on the matter thanks.
Well ya I have 400 real dollars, but I don’t really want to spend that kind of cash on a game lol.
Oh for races I would personally go:
ele-asura/human
guardian- human/norn
Necro- human/charr/asura
thief – human/asura
This is all opinion. Race is just pretty much all cosmetic. I do not like the walking salads all that much, but you might. Oh most armors do not look that good on charrs either, because stretched and clipped.
Elementalist will be the hardest class to master, and do well with when you first begin. Pretty much have to play the keyboard like a piano. But it is fun, and a challenge. Most fragile profession learn to dodge is a must.
Guardian- Lots of heals and boons. Heavy armor, not the worst damage but of course warrior will be better. guardian is like a defensive knight, while warrior is an offensive berzerker. And of course guardians use the foefire magic while warrior uses no magic.
Necro – Lots of health + deathshroud. Very good in PvP because mainly condition focused class. Not the greatest for dungeons and the like, but there are some power builds that can be alright.
Thief – My first profession. Good damage in pve, and can group stealth the party for skipping content. Very fun WvW class because of stealth. Decent all around I would say. Pretty fragile so better learn to dodge.
So I was calculating, and I figured it would cost me around 2000 gold to craft sunrise. How long do you think it would take to farm 2000 gold.
I was thinking like 5 months playing about 4 hours a day.
Thanks
actually the shoulders are ascended too, just different angle.
Yep just checked it out on gallery. Everything except the shoulders are ascended. Well looks like I wont be getting this for like ever.
For pve, wvw, or pvp. Looking to roll one of them because I like heavy armor, and greatswords.
Also just stirring the pot lol.
Hey guys so I want to use some pieces of the human tier 3 heavy armor on my guardian. Is there anyway to lower the price on them or should I just buy them now for the original prices.
Thanks for the help
Alright well I would like to have decent survivability while still being able to do good damage. Solo roaming in wvw isn’t really my thing because it doesn’t make much difference any ways. Small group roaming is always fun. Zerg sucks most the time, but every once in a while enjoy it.
Being wanted in groups wouldn’t be a bad thing either.
Hey guys recently came back to guild wars 2 to occupy some time before eso hits. Going to level a new profesion from scratch for some WvW play, and some light PvE. Decided on one of the heavy armor classes because I like bad kitten armor and big greatswords/hammers.
Having trouble deciding between the two of them though. Any help/suggestions would be great. I have gotten both to level 30, but do not want to continue both because of time. Might come back to which ever I don’t play to get to max level.
This will be my main for gw2 so I guess all aspects of the game can come into play.
Thanks
So I just came back and am having the hardest time choosing a prof to play. Can you guys please help me out. I have a pretty good understanding of the profs just can’t seem to pick one.
Thanks
Hey guys looking to roll one of these classes. What would you suggest for casual pve and wvw.
Pretty much fun factor and of course looks. Would also like to be useful. Will be an asuran.
Thanks
Any one else have some opinions on this. I tried out engineer seems like it will be super hard to play. Necro seems pretty easy with minions and deathshroud. And Mesmer is alright so far with GS and sword/focus/pistol. Doesn’t seem like Mesmer has very much in the aoe department.
lol Guardian . . . there are no dps/tank/healers in guild wars 2 they can all do it. But I would say engineer would be the most hybrid of the profs.
So just installed and update gw2 again. Been probably half a year since I have played. Last time I played I got my thief to 80 then stopped.
I would like to start fresh with a new character. I know it will be asuran, just because I have never had one and they seem like a mad genius that tries to take over the world every night lol.
Only problem I have is I need help deciding on which prof I should roll with. I have narrowed it down to engineer, necro, and mesmer. I pretty much have only solo leveled going from area to area. And solo roamed in WvW with my D/P thief. PvP isn’t really a big deal since it is totally a seperate beast because you can do it at level 1.
All suggestions are welcome. Please put in some feedback.
Thanks guys.
P.S. I do know a little bit about the fore mentioned classes if that helps.
Hey guys just coming back after a 6 month break. I am wanting to get another class to 80 after my thief. I have it narrowed down to necro, mesmer, or engineer.
Which one would you guys think would be the best choice. I mostly PvE solo, and WvW.
Thanks
I would like a good melee kit other then tool kit because it is more for utility. Like a buzz saw or work hammer. Or they could just give us war hammers as a weapon.
Hey guys just came back to gw2 after 5 months. Going to give engineer a try. I can not decide on a race. I have narrowed it down to charr or asura, because they are the most lore friendly.
My main question is which looks better in medium armor in your opinion. I like the temple armor a lot, but not really sure on others.
Oh also do you think engineer will be getting some melee kits or main weapons any time soon. The sniper rifles do look really cool, but asura’s weapons are soooo small.
Thanks for the responses.

Hey guys so I literally just hit 80, and I would like to get into some WvW with my thief. So my question is what is a good build for a beginner wvw thief. I know the basics, but still new.
Would probably prefer dagger/pistol build with 30 in shadow arts for sure because that is what I am used to.
I also have some gold to spend on exotics to get me started so please recommend those also.
Thanks
So guys I will hit 80 on my thief tonight.(first 80 woot) And was looking to do some WvW. The server I play on has a small wvw community, but they do ok I think.
So I am totally noob when it comes to WvW. I am guessing I will go D/P build. But where and what kind of gear should I get. I am guessing my traits will be 0/20/30/20/0. Pretty much any suggestions would be helpful, because all I have done is PvE open world.
Pretty much where do I start. Thanks.
Hey guys I play on FC, and would like to get into WvW. I have not done too much of the game, bought it at launch and just recently getting back into it. No level 80 character yet. I play a thief, and its only level 45.
I know I wouldn’t make much of a difference, but you have to start somewhere I guess. Maybe someone could show me the ropes a bit also.
Thanks
No one has any insight into my problem.
Hey guys just wondering which is the best bet for PvE, WvW, and dungeons I can not decide which to take to 80 as my main. I have a ranger in the upper 30s and thief in the low 40s, so I know a little bit of each class.
Thanks for your input and help.
My money is on sword/warhorn for an offensive best, but sword/torch also gives you 2 nice burns. And GS being the defensive best with an escape, a block, and an interrupt. But sword/axe also gives you a projectile reflect.
But I have only been playing my ranger for just a few weeks, so take my assessment with a grain of salt.
I would be very interested to see what the more experienced rangers have to say about this subject.
So I got my ranger to level 21, and I have to say I am enjoying it. Anyways I have been reading some on the ranger forum, and all I hear is ranger is bad.
Is this true? For WvW and endgame dungeons. Should I just roll a warrior or thief. I really liked the idea of being in leather armor with a giant great sword. But if I will be useless/not up to par then whats the point.
Thanks for your feedback.
