People… The third map need to follow the same ruleset as a borderland just like Desert kinda follow the same ruleset as Alpine.
Well, nobody down here want CD to stay either. The only ones content with that outcome is Arena Net (since they are not bothering in do somenthing about it).
I mentioned on another thread, we already seen this happen before and the only solution was manual intervention. But problably since the pairings will change eventually, they will use that as a excuse to do nothing.

Some people might ask: “What about silver, where we have servers with inflated ratings? T5 is problably stronger than SBI/YB/BP/SoR atm.”
Well, let’s take a look on how it might roll…
DB, IoJ and HoD win and get 5pts
SBI, YB and CD get 2nd and get 3pts
SoR, BP and SF lose and get 1pt
Next:
DB wins, go to 10 (5+5)
IoJ get 2nd, go to 8 (5+3)
HoD lose, go to 6 (5+1)
CD wins, go to 8 (5+3)
SBI get 2nd, go to 6 (3+3)
YB lose, go to 4 (3+1)
SF wins, go to 6 (1+5)
BP get 2nd, go to 4 (1+3)

So, the ‘dying’ servers, would be pushed to the bottom of the league, right at the first two weeks, and never again they would face DB/IoJ… I used the prediction that SBI still stronger than YB/BP, but idk if that is accurate, but it won’t change the fact that SBI would be down with YB/BP/SoR and never face DB/IoJ.
We can already have a glimpse of the result of this matchup now.
Before someone comes with the argument “it still saturday”, I want to let you know that glicko works with the % difference between the score and not the points itself. 40k/20k/20k is the same as 500k/250k/250k for glicko.
Right now, the quadserver is winning by double over the other two servers, which is far above the %s of the last match that ended at 467k/329k/270k, and is only gaining 55 rating points, oposed to the 110 gained last week.
Let’s say that the quadserver maintain this for the whole week and get the 50 rating now. They will now be 200 above the two competitors for the next match oposed to the 100 rating difference of the current match. Glicko will expect that the Quadserver wins even harder to get any significant ammount of rating (let’s say 150% above 2nd place), and it will expect to have the quadserver to keep performing even harder as the matchups go on since their rating will be far above the other two contenders. They will be squeezing water out of a rock at some point.
There was a similar issue 3 years ago when Sorrow’s Furnace was stuck in T8 and couldn’t move out simply because Eredon Terrace and Fergusson’s Crossing rating were far lower than theirs, at to some point that despite SF winning the matchup by almost 100% over the other two server they would still lose rating. Arena Net manually gave 100 rating to both ET and FC which allowed SF to finally gain enough rating to move out of the tier and make their way up, even beating T7 servers. We had a T6 server stuck in T8 for several months just because glicko wouldn’t adjust a way for them move up.
Imho, if Arena Net don’t want to manually move the quadserver, they should at least do the same they did back in that time to allow CD gain enough rating to get out of T4.
While the ideal would actually just reset everyone’s rating and let the servers adapt by themselves every time the pairings change, feeding artificial rating will help to reduce the huge rating walls that formed between the tiers, which would give us at least different matchups if we get extremely loopsided ones like the one we’re having right now.

You don’t really need basi for this when you can pbs and have the same effect. Nothing new here.
Next season, you should suggest that Anet use 4-2-1 scoring instead of 5-3-1 scoring.
This way an upwardly striving server that wins its matchup and gets punished in the higher tier fares better than the server that loses in second place.
Most of use would agree that 1-0-1 is better than 0-2-0, and a proper scoring system should take this into account.
It should be winner take all to avoid promoting fight for second. If a server want to get somenthing, they should attack the top dog for it, not fight for scraps with the other underdog while the top server run a with easy win.
Competing for score in this tier is similar to competing in a “light-weight, strength competition” One of us may lift a 6 pound weight while the other may only be able to live a 5 pound weight. It really isn’t something one should try and brag about.
So you are telling me that people that compete in the lower categories are just a bunch of losers that cannot compete on higher ones?

With a game mechanic like that it’s not hard to figure out what class a hacker is gonna pick.
Funny enough, one of the most “famous hacker” we had in the game was a Ranger and not a thief. But that’s because he could simply solo capture anything with near no risk.
I’m too busy dodging cannon balls to know if druids are balanced or not.
In the right hands any class is OP, in the wrongs hands every other class is OP.
D/D ele is pretty stupid right now tho.
Anything that use dual daggers is annoying… Elementalists, thieves and necros… But they don’t reach a super uber OP stat.
The queues being caused by AP hunters in season 1 and perhaps 2. I dont say all servers had that problem but there lots of moaning about it on these forums. So im glad its all done in 5 events.
There is a lot of moaning about queues from the top stacked servers… And I think they do deserve it for being stacked.
Yeah, make more maps… Let’s have more deserted fields on the lower tiers because everyone want to be stacked on the 3 top servers.

Over the last several months, Anet has made several changes to glicko and to scoring that greatly increases the chances of having more variety in matchups. The downside of this is that it can lead to lopsided matchups with a dominant server rolling a matchup with servers from a lower tier.
The problem with the matchup variety is that the server populations and coverage are terribly imbalanced. The result is half the matches (or more) are complete face stomps.
If there was decent population balance the matchup variety would be a good thing.
Right now it’s just driving people away.
Staleness prior it also drove people away… There is no perfect system, but i’ll take varierity over fighting the same people for months any day. We get nothing from “winning” in WvW anyway. Why Should I bother if the matchup is completely loopsided in PPTwars?
Stacking on the 4th T2 server and keep kittening up T3. You should have at least choosen a T3 or T4 server…

Being bad and being outnumbered in the coverage wars are two different things… The more players you put togheter, the easier it is to the average skill level drop.

No. THat would basically destroy all stealth, period, across all game modes. We may as well not have it then.
I don’t see it as a bad idea tbh… Stealth in this game isn’t healthy for pvp anyway.

I doubt anyone on ET is willing to pay for people they don’t know to transfer over, since we have no guarantee that these people will stay…

Keep in mind that you won’t be able to buy/sell siege on TP if they do that.

Population refused to balance itself in the past. Why would them do it now? Doing hard merges will just recreate the stale enviroment we had prior the links.
The Links are bad? Honestly, no. They made WvW much more lively than it was to least for 12, maybe 18 servers (Not even counting EU). The server shuffling after two months also bring some varierity to this extreme stale gamemode, somenthing that many servers haven’t seen IN YEARS.
The issue still lies on glicko not allowing servers to move around faster when they clearly do not belong to a tier. The quadserver fiasco could have been averted if CD had moved before everyone on DH and SF said “kitten this kitten” and left the server or quit the game entirely. Will a rating reset solve the population imbalance? Clearly not. But at least it will break the staleness of the gamemode and people won’t feel like “oh kitten , this boring matchup again” and just stop playing.
Do people actually care about the buffs effect/level of effect even? Yay more magic find?
The only people that care about that are the ones that will leave wvw if there’s no commander on the map.
What they should do is make outnumbered provide useful buffs to solo players and small groups. Things like…
*siege costs less supply
*sentries/towers no longer mark your location on the map
*white swords take twice as long to trigger
The problem is: if they give an actual useful buff to outnumbered, there will be people like “Gtfo of my map, I want my outnumbered buff back”. Also I wouldn’t mind some extra MF. The last time I dropped a precursor was 3 years ago.
Guys… just strip the boons.. problem solved.. Focus target and they’re rip anyway.
Goodluck stripping boons from an entire zerg. Unless you have a zerg of necros, or is running a boonshare zerg yourself, you’re likely dead at this point.

The real way to prevent server hopping: make queues prioritize people who have been on the server for longer.

False… People stack on the top tiers despite queues popping on primetime. At best EotM is taking people from the lower pop servers because these people are tired of not having anyone to play with and are stuck in infinite loopsided matches that are never on their favor.

Lowering the prices based on server placement would be good, but giving free transfer to other servers would just promote people to stack on the said server for a easy win like happened to Henge of Denravi on Season 2. (Why would i go to 24th if i can go to 13th for free aswell?)
