I almost made a post about combat being boring and how gold should have more uses in fractals. Like bribing bosses to die instantly (perhaps an item in gem store).

But I didn’t want to give them any ideas. Luckily they don’t read this forum.

Give us a prestigeous PVE armor too

So we agree that it’s possible to have intended and designed content without dodging? Thus dodging is not that integral part of the combat.

Again you are focusing on the rewards. Rewards are not content. They are the prize for playing and completing the content. Adding reward doesn’t make things more difficult because the content already exists.

We already have challenging PvE content. We only lack proper rewards for doing it. That’s why I consider it absurd when some people say “PvE lacks hard content so it can’t have prestige rewards”.

Combined fractal information

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: Wethospu.6437

Wethospu.6437

I don’t think we have enough topics about fractals yet /s. So here is one more where I have tried to catch all the possible information.

Note: There are some speculation. They are marked like this.

Progression

  • Completing a fractal run requires only one map instead of 3 normal and 1 boss maps.
  • Each scale is connected to a specific map. Whenever you play that scale you will always face the same map and the same instabilities.
  • Amount of scales increased to 100.
  • Personal fractal level increases by doing a higher scale.
  • Fractal levels won’t be reseted.
  • Fractal leaderboards (details unknown).
  • Fractal masteries gives access to additional dailies, new infusions, and instance-specific buff items or challenge modes

Difficulty

  • End scales are supposed to me much harder then what we currently have.
  • After scale 50, other enemy stats like precision and toughness increases.
  • New and more interesting instabilities.
  • Higher levels have multiple instabilities at the same time.
  • End scales probably need more Agony Resist.
  • New challenging achievements. Old achievements will remain.

Daily rewards

  • Daily fractal bonus chests replaced with daily achievements.
  • Scales 1-20, 21-50 and 51-100 have their own achievement.
  • You need to do 3 different maps to complete the achievement. Total of 9 different maps to complete all achievements.
  • Reward: A pristine fractal relic and chance at the fractal weapon skins, ascended equipment, infused rings, and more.
  • New daily scale achievement. Probably included in the current daily achievement.

Fractal drops

  • Every fractal gives a lock box called fractal encryption, which can be traded. A fractal encryption key is required to open it.
  • Fractal encryption keys can be bought with stabilizing matrices.
  • Opening a fractal encryption randomly gives a Mini Professor Mew, new ascended aquatic-breather recipes, high-level crafting materials or something else.
  • Harder and longer fractals give more rewards.
  • New randomly dropped fractal crafting materials.

Other rewards

  • Cat golem miniatures: Evolve Mini Professor Mew with an ingredient found in fractals.
  • Fractal weapon skins: A skin of your choice can be bought with pristine fractal relics, after you have reached scale 51. Probably 20 required.
  • Golden fractal weapon skins: Can be acquired only from high levels (51+ or even more). Can be transformed to another golden weapon of your choice in Mystic Force.
  • Fractal skin collection: New reward added.
  • Legendary backpack: Start with a simple backpack and improve it (probably uses current Fractal backpacks). Do challenges, timed bosses and complete collections. Needs stuff from Fractals and other places. Needs balls of dark energy and stabilizing matrices.
  • Salvaging ascended equipment: Needs a specific Ascended Salvage Kit. Can be acquired from the fractal vendors and other sources. Different result based on equipment type. All have a chance for a ball of dark energy.
  • Salvaging ascended rings: Gives stabilizing matrices.
  • New consumable: Stacks with other consumables. May not work outside fractals.
  • Titles: Probably one for reaching scale 50 prepatch.

Breakbar facts

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: Wethospu.6437

Wethospu.6437

Disclaimer: Different enemies have different breakbars. Following info only applies to standard dungeon/fractal bosses.

Since raw values are not known, I will use percentiles (total strength is 100%). The breakbar ticks every 0.24 seconds recharging 1.2% (5% per second).

Breaking the bar stuns and increases damage taken by 50% (both direct and condition) for 5 seconds and gives control immunity until the bar fully recharges (20 s). This means +12.5% party-wide damage if you instantly break it after recharge.

Conditions:

  • Fear: -4% per tick. -16.67% per second.
  • Taunt: -3% per tick. -12.5% per second.
  • Immobilize: -2% per tick. -8.33% per second.
  • Slow: -2% per tick. -8.33% per second.
  • Chilled: -1.33% per tick. -5.54% per second.
  • Blind: -0.8% per tick. -3.33% per second.
  • Weakness: -0.8% per tick. -3.33% per second.
  • Crippled: -0.6% per tick. -2.5% per second.

Hard control:

  • Daze, Knockback, Knockdown, Launch, Pull, Stun, Transform: -16.67% * duration.
  • Stone (Basilisk Venom): -25% * duration.
  • Ice (Deep Freeze): -10% * duration.
  • Ward (Ring of Warding): -25% per pass.

Skill details:

  • Headshot (0.25 s daze): -16.67%.
  • Gale (2×2 s knockdown): -66.7%.
  • Knockbacks (1.5 s, -25%): Gust, Kick
  • Short launches (2.32 s, -38.7%): Banish, Stomp.
  • Long launches (3.32 s, -55.3%): Wild Blow, Updraft.
  • Pulls (1.5 s, -25%): Scorpion Wire, Into the Void.
  • Short transform (3 s, -50%): Toss Elixir X.
  • Long transform (10 s, -166.7%): Signet of Humility.

Other facts:

  • Sigil of Paralyzation works (increased stun duration)
  • Pull distance doesn’t matter
  • Enemy actions (attacking / movement) don’t matter

Other enemies (compared to fractal bosses):

  • Mordrem Guard Punisher: Bar 16.7%. Regen 0% per tick. Breaking causes 5 s stun and exposed.
  • Champion Mushroom Emperor: Bar 100%. Regen 0.24% per tick (1% per second). Breaking causes 3.75 s stun and 15 s immunity (recharges 1.6% per tick, 6.67% per second).

Dungeon community ignored?

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: Wethospu.6437

Wethospu.6437

A way up to the boat in Arah path 2 was blocked off. This is great, again.

I wouldn’t be so sure about that At least they tried.

It’s the thought that counts, even if they didn’t block off all the points to the boat.

I was trying to be nice anyway, and then I got a post infracted because I wrote that ArenaNet can’t stand the idea of interacting with the dungeon community since that’s apparently a personal attack towards their staff despite the fact that they moved my thread to trashcan dungeon forum.

Actually you didn’t. Personal attacks instantly max out your infractions and give 2 weeks ban.

Reading through most of these threads, it’s not hard to figure out why the sub-forum is being ignored. A huge percentage of the posts are venomous and directly insulting. I feel sorry for any newer players who stop by this forum, simply because they may get the impression that the GW2 community is terrible, which is untrue as a whole. The moderators already have their hands full with cleaning up the nonstop offensive posts.

It’s great that at least you are so friendly and constructive instead of calling everyone terrible or venomous.

Will Anet ever make Non-DPS role important?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Wethospu.6437

Wethospu.6437

Could you explain how skipping leads to DPS centric play? How damage helps with skipping?

In GW2 the trash mobs are just that, trash. They don’t offer any variation in the required tactics or builds within the dungeon. In other MMO’s I’ve played trash mobs are a real threat and often require specialist tactics to kill.

Now, since the mobs don’t offer (reward, build or challenge) anything different people skip them and so by skipping them, it only adds to the DPS centric nature of PvE as there is nothing in the encounter to dilute the DPS centric nature

It’s like putting milk in coffee, you can put milk in or not(skip trash of not) but it’s still coffee.

Think that makes sense and I did say it was off the top of my head

By same logic, even my breakfast leads to a DPS centric play.

How conditions work on world bosses?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

They could “fix” bleeding on world bosses with approximation. Instead of checking condition damage for every player they can randomly choose 10-25 stacks, get their average tick damage and apply it to the rest of the stacks. Should easily allow 10000+ stacks.

gw2dungeons: Help verifying enemy types!

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: Wethospu.6437

Wethospu.6437

Frifox had a very simple way to test these so I think this should be a good start. If this goes well then I can add detailed instructions for other enemy data things too.

Potion info is most likely mostly known. But (at least) I have no idea how many of these have actually been verified and how many have been assumed. Devs might have done mistakes so I think it would be good to verify as much as possible.

For fractal enemies go to here.
How to

Use any attack which hits multiple times over time. This means any channeled attack or ticking AoE. During the attack either drink a potion or change a weapon with slaying sigil. If damage ticks go up then it has an effect.

For example I use Volley on rifle which hits 5 times. First two hits hit for 500 damage. Then I quickly drink a potion (+ 10% damage). Next 3 hits do 550 damage. -> Potion clearly had an effect.

Remember to remove any other condition variables like vulnerability or Scholar runes (unless you can control them). Also getting either very low or very high critical chance reduces chances that you have to convert critical hit to a normal hit (divide by critical damage).

If you have verified any of these before please let me know so I can update this. Also let me know if you have verified something not on the list so I can add it too.

Verify = NO GUESSING OR FEELINGS ALLOWED

For example, “I think I did more damage” or “I felt like taking less damage” is not enough.

Most optimized sigil combination

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: Wethospu.6437

Wethospu.6437

Sigil stacking (works on “Always On”, “On Crit” and “On Swap” sigils):

1) Whenever you equip a weapon you automatically switch to that weapon set
2) Whenever you switch to a weapon set its sigils will be checked
3) If 2 same sigils are detected then anti-stacking rule is applied to both weapon sets.
4) With anti-stacking rule you need 2 sigils to get the effect (only 1 sigil has no effect)
5) Anti-stacking rule is only cleared if you switch to a weapon set with no sigils from that rule

Case 1: Equip Force/Force on set 1. Anti-stacking rule is applied. Equip Force/X on set 2. Set 2 gets no damage bonus. Unequip both weapons at set 1 while being on set 2. Rule is not cleared and set 2 gets no damage bonus.

Case 2: Equip X/Force on set 1. Equip Force (mainhand) on set 2. Set 2 gets offhand from set 1 and anti-stacking rule is applied. Set 1 gets no damage bonus. Equip /X to set 2. Set 2 gets no damage bonus. Equip /X on set 1. Rule is cleared and set 2 gets damage bonus.

Case 3: Equip Force/Force on set 1. Anti-stacking rule is applied. Equip Force (twohanded) on set 2. Set 2 gets no damage bonus. Switch to set 1. Unequip both weapons. You automatically switch to set 2 so rule is not cleared. Switch weapon from set 2 to set 1. Rule is cleared (I guess it switches to an empty weapon set first) and set 1 gets damage bonus.

So basically if you accidentally stack sigils unequip all your weapons. And be extra careful when dealing with main/offhand combos.

I think it’s fair. Those people you kicked didn’t actually kill the final boss so they don’t deserve any final rewards (if they complain they are just entitled). And they also had fun during the run while getting rewards from that.

That’s an interesting perspective. So if I was to kick you out of your job, hand your 90% finished project over to a new hire and gave THEM your month’s wage for finishing the last 10% before the deadline, you’d be cool with that?

Okay then.

If the contract allows you to kick me and not pay at all then that’s completely fine.

I think it’s fair. Those people you kicked didn’t actually kill the final boss so they don’t deserve any final rewards (if they complain they are just entitled). And they also had fun during the run while getting rewards from that.

This is the 2nd post like this in which you’ve posted a similar comment. So I can only assume you are just trying to be a troll here as there is NO WAY you can justify kicking peeps at the last fractal boss in order to ‘sell the fractal’ or whatever (bad) reason you can come up with. (Or hopefully you’re just being sarcastic?)

I’m serious. If developers intended you to get rewards without actually beating the final challenge then they would give you them. End rewards are supposed to be given AFTER killing the end boss. You haven’t killed the boss so you don’t deserve those rewards.

You can enter fractals alone and nothing forces you to use your dodge. Sounds like an intended way to play this game.

What you probably meant that it doesn’t give any reward which ironically is the very point of this topic.

The game is designed with dodge as an intended aspect of gameplay. It is integral to the combat design. You can of course choose to forgo its use in high end content but at that point you are not playing the game according to its design intent.

You may be able to enter fractals solo, but its design intent was as group content.

The fact that something CAN be done does not mean that it should be or that it was intended to be done in that manner.

How do you explain Exhausted gambit in Queen’s Gauntlet then? You are not intended to use that gambit?

It’s not a bug or an exploit to enter fractals alone. It was clearly designed like that. If people want extra challenge they are not forced to bring a full group.

People have different playstyles and prefer different things. Please stop trying to enforce your playstyle on everyone as "intended " or “designed”.

Just a reminder that project http://gw2dungeons.net is actually progressing!

The biggest change is the implementation of a tactic system which allows one encounter to have multiple tactics for it. For example there can be a skipping tactic and a fighting tactic. Or a melee tactic and a ranged tactic. This isn’t yet used in every path but it will keep spreading while we work on the content.

Content has also been updated a lot. Many paths are in decent shape now and enemy info is more accurate. There have been 1000+ little tweaks/changes clarifying stuff, fixing typos and grammar and so on.

Again I’m looking for tricks/tips for the content (especially for the new path). Even better if you could become a content writer! Also any feedback is highly appreciated.

Armor repair has no purpose anymore

I’m not a fan of free armor repairs because it feels like it reduces the impact of deaths from combat. From what I’ve experienced, free armor repair also renders repair canisters relatively useless in most situations outside of fractals and even then, it’s possible to “game” it by exiting and reentering.

Nothing prevents you destroying a couple of items whenever you die if you feel that it makes the game more fun.

Why would you support having your time wasted?

A question asked of people that spend hundreds and thousands of hours playing a video game.

I take that as you enjoy repairing your armor. Nothing wrong with what. I just find it pretty…. dull.

If you are interested of crying I suggest looking at your own posts.

Also I don’t really understand why anyone would need a reminder of dying when it is already pretty obvious when you die.

Fury & Weakness (Removing Randomness)

I don’t think changes to fury are justified because the whole critical hit mechanic is based around randomness. Removing randomness from fury would cause balance issues without really dealing with the main source of randomness.

For weakness I would just convert the current version to a non-random one. Currently it has a 50% chance to remove critical damage and reduce damage by 50%.

Averaging that would mean 25% base damage reduction and halved critical damage.

Sure, everything is possible. But gameplay >> lore, so of course some warning bells start ringing when people talk about lore.

Can we get some easier raids too?

Requests like this are ridiculous. Raids are not that much harder than dungeons/fractals.

Forced gear check making Agony pointless?

in Fractured

If the only point is get enough gear then just prevent entering unless your party has enough AR. And then remove Agony because it is really pointless at 1% ticks.

That would at least make some sense.

Two types of people in high fractals

It’s actually called Swampland. And the time it takes to roll it is significantly less than doing Uncategorized, Urban Battlegrounds, and possibly the same amount Of time as Aquatic Ruins tho a lot of people don’t like Aquatic Ruins or don’t have the AR for it. So if you want to do an extra 15-20 mins in your run then don’t roll Swampland. And to be brutally honest if you don’t bother to do that you most likely don’t know or don’t bother with the other little things that make fractals go faster or easier.

Fixed.

Why we can`t use DPS meter?

I still remember soloing fractals up to Mai Trin, practicing it a bit and then putting a lfg so 4 random guys could get a reward for free. No restrictions, no requirements.

Only to have them faceplant in about 30 seconds and me getting kicked in about 15 seconds without any warning because they wanted to retry. And when I asked why would they kick me and destroy the instance when I had spend hours soloing it I get answered “because you didn’t talk to us”. Yeah sure, I will do some casual chit chat when I’m on low health and fighting to survive.

So based on this, I rather keep “elitist” requirements to weed out “non-toxic”, “relaxed” and “respectful” people like these.
