Yeah that is true the problem i see it now, theres no healers, it would end in several ganks and 1vs1, every one know the only strategy in this game is kill before it lays eggs, and classes are mostly imbalanced for 1v1.

dammn hard to bring the old epicness from gw1 :| we’ve been converted to blobber’s that spend all time spamming 1 key.

I don’t mind the change, but please remove the bridge in the rock and adjust the map so it doesn’t look like the river is still there.

I like this idea too, make the limit of how many can be on map MUCH lower, something obscenely lower like fifty! I like it – I vote yes!

How about have a dynamic cap?
You have servers A, B and C, which ever has the smallest number of players on that map, that number is set as cap.

Lets imagine in the Eternal Battleground the servers have the following numbers:

A: 75
B: 42
C: 50
(…)

so what if a BL is left w/o any player?

Problem i found on WvW is “hammer > everything else” i always try to find a build to play mace shield on wvw, wich is far inferior to the hammer in team group.

IMO i believe mace heal should had its % heal improved, i dont think it is a equivalent weapon to the 20% prot that hammer offers, and shield or the Guardian bubbles should be improved, becouse at the momment all they do is protect against range auto atacks and rangers.

I don’t play/care about pvp

Guardians:

Great in PvE
Great in wvw >3 people, dominant and mandatory as numbers increase to the point where compositions demand at least 1 guardian per party in zergs
Mediocre at solo roaming wvw though not necessarily hopeless but nothing compares with a thief anyways.
In general the presence of guard stacks benefits guardian greatly due to their low base health.

The underdog IMO is the necromancer, and the class in the worst spot. It is the worst class in pve and while great in large scale wvw tends to be a poor roamer. (Good duelist, but much like the guardian has little in the way of disengage and pursuit)

Note that I judge in relative terms. You can definitely roam on any class but some are just easier than others to get results.

If your opponent is are complete kittens, sure why not, thou the same can be said for every other class in the game…

im talking about top (top top top) tier pvp

Sadly design should not be based about what the top 1% can do with it, but what your average joe can.

This will finally split zerg, will incentive small scale fights or this will turn the usual wvw maps into a eotm: if you can’t manage to defend a structure you stop caring about’em and start farming keep and tower bosses.

Anyway this is a good “shake” to wvw, things will change for sure.

I hope the first 2 option will be adopted, wvw could be fun in the end.

i believe what would happen is this would turn blob even more productive, with no sword, its only a drop plenty of catas near walls (or non visible points when u can cata non keep zones and still damage walls )and no one know keep/tower is under atack, take stuff faster, more ppt, more flipfest, more AB redundancy, more easyer wxp.

How can a Blolb be more productive? Blolb is usually made by pugs not using TS. Blob can pop up orange swords and be spotted. Blob are much more noiser and visually easier to detect.

Other side are small group, no orange swords at all and nomore white. Hard to catch with eyes and can ninja non scouted structures. A 25 blolb split into 5 groups can , hipotetically, take 5 unscouted and undefended structure while the blob must take those 1 by 1 ecountering the defence of each one becausse of the size of their own number.

This change will give more chances to small grp to take towers of blobs. Now if defender want to keep theese structures must leave the zerg and start spreading the map. 2 zerg split.

Anyway the rewarding system should be changed as well.

if no one atack gate theres no orange sword u have a blob(large group) just for massive supply drop and plenty of siege that can atack outter and inner wall, in a few seconds, and with this u ddint had the notify on that keep, orange sword pop up when every one tags lord wich stays alive like 5-10 seconds max?

  • when i said blob its like in the context of a karma train or a large stacked group, zerg would fit to me more in the context of non TS users but each one to is own.
  • i also talk from a server that hardly can have the players to create a large group, usually 2 -5 @ BL.

EDIT: overall with this change will be easier for both large and small groups to take stuff, i can understand now several ways for small man groups take stuff w/o being noticed to.

I’m not sure what GvG has to do with pvp being an e-sport or not? I participated in the last tournament, and what do you know, 5 people from our guild participated in 5 people from another guild. Hence, GvG.

This is not an argument that spvp constitutes an e-sport, just don’t see what GvG has to do with it. Especially since most people seem to feel like GvG is basically team deathmatch.

There are tons of skills that have similar problems. Flame thrower has a 10 hit AoE auto attack. Retal can be brutal.

The issue is with retaliation, it should be a % of damage done dealt back with an upper limit, but I don’t think anet will ever change the mechanic of this boon.

The skill(s) were done right in gw1.

that would improve damage back, and retaliation was nerfed now its like 240-280 damage, big AOE hits needed theyr counterplay if not it would be more free bags than already is.

I’m enormously fond of Lion’s Arch, and I dream of the day when it’s back to its former glory. I guess if you look at this in realistic terms, suffish and Stramatus are right: If it’s going to happen, the process would take time. After all, Rome wasn’t (re)built in a day.

I see more workers these days, and hey, CrimeDog, that’s one big rock!

I know i went a little bit to the extreme, but my opinion about EOTM stays.
im still choked with the no white sword as a possible update and this would event turn out to be more confusing, becouse low WvW servers dont have eneught players to drop traps and when one leave the map trap gets removed, and as we all know there are already some keeps/tower that can be taken on legal and doubtful ways since they are here since beta like cata cliff’s near the wall or under the wall etc.

The game is not prepared to this changes.

I am all for something such as healing on actions, perhaps even similar to ele’s healing signet. The fact that it heals, with poison applied, as strong as many professions heals with a 25s, that do not have poison applied, in a passive manner, is problematic.

I’m still waiting for your math. I never claimed at Healing Signet under poison healed for more than any other heal skill under poison, so go ahead, please.

The sad thing is, it does heal for more under poison than most other healing skills do without poison. Not all of them, sure. Troll Unguent and Ether Renewal both have higher HP/second than poisoned healing signet (but less than non-poisoned healing signet). All of a Guardian’s and Necro’s heals, for example, have lower HP/second than poisoned healing signet (bar Consume Conditions eating 2+ conditions).

Do the math yourself. It really isn’t difficult.

Healing signet passive heal > Virtue of resolve passive healing :P

Taking away white swords will shift the advantage to the higher population servers. There are simply more people around noticing attacks on those.

Anyway, what will happen to waypoints? Will they still indicate an attack, or will they appear normal but don’t work if you try to use them (or even take you to a “random” other uncontested waypoint near)?

Probably every one can port in massive way to kill 5 players or only guild put buffs on is the one that has acess to the waypoint only.

By the other hand this might promote more guilds taking care of a certain tower/keep, but once again low pop servers can only get like 2 or 3 players during the day on BL and other 10 on eb?

IMO IF Anet wants this working first they have to adress several game design mistakes that invalute this option they want to introduce wich mean a little rework/change on WVW.

Probably this will make less field combat and groups stacking on tower with siege, wich IMO is a ugly concept.

That signet goes against the guardian concept ( active defense class, reliant on boons/ active condition removal). It’s a huge “focus me” in www and pvp, and it’s a misunderstanding of the class. Use consecrations for maximum pve support, and read the sticky Talyn posted.

This happens all the time in GvG, when the same kind of guild goes to WvW for raid, or at least after the fight. For the same reasons, too: their survival and their team’s DPS depends upon being in range of the ally spells. Those spells are on rotation. Overextending means they miss a boon, screw the rotation, get caught out, die, and lose the match for their team. No, the builds aren’t the same. Yes, the mechanics are different. But, no, the concept hasn’t been entirely lost.

That would be asinine, and it never happens in competent GvG. Auto attack, even for guards with loot sticks, is a filler between other skill casts. Team DPS will drop if you don’t do it. The opponent has to be punished for coming near you. If #1 is the only skill on cooldown, though, you’re losing that fight or the opponent is garbage.

Even mentioning “boon duration” shows that you’re typing from the side lines of a no-GvG server.

ill i can imagine to success in stacked blob vs stacked blob is the continuous waterfield blasts(that tsunami effect) and ele’s range aoe , i cant compare it to gw1 GvG scheme :\

Why is 80% of anet’s employers working on living story, 15% on gem store and maybe 5% on bug fixes, hud changes, balancing etc. ?

Because you’re wrong when you say you want races, classes, skills etc. What you really want is a fragmented, semi-permanent story with a cringey-akward lesbian love story at it’s center. Oh, and of course gem store weapons and outfits. Because who wants to customize their armor anyways when we can all run around looking the same, like a bunch of stormtroopers.

We just have to accept that Anet know better than their players what the players want. After all they got the almighty statistics.

as for weapons for sure there are more mace wammos than mace guardians, yet anet said there are low mace warriors playing with it (and its one of the strongest meta on warrior funny anet dont know it).

Why is everyone raging here?! This is a good change. it encourages groups to go scout stuff, and not everyone sticking to 1 commander mindlessly following. You can still do that but don’t complain if they ninja keeps from you…

There’s also always the chat.. you know.. This is an MMO…

First good WvW change I’ve seen in a LONG time!

Heh. I defended fully upgraded bay yesterday for an hour(I was the only one on the map) outnumbered against 6 ppl. Do you really believe most servers will be able to scout the map when we can’t even gather defenders for fully upgraded keeps? Most low pop servers have very few players on at late hours and this will just make it so that the very few defenders we have on at night time will simply see towers flipping without being able to do anything about it.

this will hurt the low pop servers, this cant be done w/o a small merge or something like that, some servers have like 15 players at EB commander another 10 spreaded roamming and 1 or 2 upgrading BL, for like 1h to 3h then bl’s go empty and is at that time that servers use to karma train stuff even with a small team that cannon put sword on stuff it is going to be a flip fest.

P.S can anyone give me the link saying this is going to be introduced or quote some dev?

Where do you guys come up with this stuff??

WvW is much different than PvP for starters. I have a 50% win rate on my Offensive Guardian in PvP – we just dont have the base skills as someone pointed out. A guardian in PvP is most likely a bunker for point control.

I have a 80% win rate against all classes in WvW and I run an offensive power build (Not Medi). That is against Gold, Silver and Bronze level players so I am not fighting scrubs all the time.

Guard is the challenging class in the game because it will test your patience with being a support person or test your will with being a damage class.

yet some builds melt bunkers in seconds?
Patience of a Paragon :P.

Let them finish the GH and Guild CDI, for sure Anet feels obligated now for introducing the old GvG (gw1) concept.
