If you did living story season 2 (at least episodes 5-8) then you can buy some ascended trinkets for 10g and 1,000 bandit crests. Don’t know if they can be salvaged since I haven’t tried ascended salvaging myself however.

I hope there’s an equivalent shoulder skin for Wintersday where you’re surrounded by snow in place of bats. Would be great for some cold themed characters. Icy lodestones are an obvious choice for an ingredient as well as some endless tonics and maybe a bell. It just wouldn’t be right if Halloween offered up so much more than Wintersday as far as skins and rare things go.

As for legendaries I’m still sticking with my tiger hammer idea ^_^ They already have roars in the soundfiles and can just copy a tiger arm, make it translucent and part of the legendary’s animations swiping while the player swings the hammer and tiger stripped tiger footprints follow the player. There are other great ideas for a hammer too. Cthulu’s dagger is another great idea, it’ll have black and green jagged metal surrounded by a bright glowing light that transitions back and forth slowly between blacklight and algae. The description would read, “From an unknown deity well beyond dimensions not known to Tyria.”

I find it really funny that some people are so thoroughly enraged because a video game character is a higher rank than them in a fictional organization and that ANet is so spineless that they felt the need to cater to them by killing off a character.

Jesus Christ, go outside and reevaluate your life.

Thoroughly enraged is a gross overstatement, we are “merely” a bit annoyed.

I try making them into ingots (even then Princess still has more to spare) to save space since I don’t like wasting but if I get an exotic from a chest a stack of ascended is the first thing to destroy before griefers lead the dogs to the chest room (for any dev reading this I know how you don’t like griefing so… ;) and ;) means here put up an invisible wall at the door where only the dogs get collision detection )

You’ll probably need 1,000 consumable ones to make it though and by then the price would skyrocket. I’ve bought 1,250 just in case, 1,000 for the endless and 250 for some investment.

I think a good way to bring Trahearne back would be as an NPC resource gatherer we interact with in our home instance. You would buy the Trahearne skin for it and when the day starts you get your resources (chance of failing for rarer stuff, but success depends on your magic find starting from a base of 0%)

You would pay 20s per run and the idea is to lessen crafting burden and allow the player to play the game (but still gather resources himself for extra). Other gemstore gatherer skins would be werewolf, Taimi, Tybalt, a random husk, and Queen Jenna.

So ArenaNet listened to all the whiners who needed to be commanders and gods and whatever, and killed Trehearne… awesome. You made it clap clapclap

Yes, very ^_^

Compare that to, for example, Caithe, who betrayed us, stole from us, and does even take a second and try to explain her motives to us – after all the things we did for her during the Zaithan story, like rescuing her from Faolin, reuniting her “worst soap opera cast in Tyrian history”-type of guild, and taking down an Elder Dragon! I’d rather having Trahearne at my side than her any day.

It wasn’t a true betrayal though. It was a tough choice for her and she used her judgment knowing what she did would be frowned upon but nevertheless still for the greater good. Faolin though is bad and was why the centaurs attacked them when looking for Caithe’s sister.

There’s an ascended armor chest at the end, just make sure you get a light chest piece from it since those are the most expensive. Even accounting for the tougher achievements you’ll still save time and money in the long run.

1.No more levels since they’re pointless.
2.No more fall damage after a certain toughness rating.
3.Break the elementalist into two different classes but with some skills changed around to ensure both are good but not OP (e.g., air-earth ele [geomancer?] has some healing)
4.Bigger stat gap between exotic and ascended.
5.PvP gear only obtainable in PvP.
6.Alterac Valley like instanced PvP zones.

Story:

1.Gods return, some as good guys some as bad.

2.Star NPC is an asura female with Taimi’s personality.

3.New Elder Dragons.

4.Keep things medievaly-steampunkish because modern architecture and design is just…banal and blah with roads everywhere and everywhere in a world discovered already and too many conveniences destroying many good potential story points. No need to trek through dangerous uncharted woods when the woods were charted long ago, there’s a big road leading to your destination, and you have GPS right?

5. Logan, Zojja, Taimi, and Rytlock get stuck in another dimension where time flows differently and come out to the new GW3 timeline. Logan and Zojja are married where Rytlock was the best man and Rytlock is known as the best king of Ascalon’s history but is presumed dead after all these centuries. His descendant doubts it’s him until you help him on a quest to obtain a McGuffin and his great, great, great grandson knows it is indeed the real Rytlock. There’s a warlock imposter pretending to be Rytlock during this time too as well as other Rytlock impersonators trying to exploit the Rytlock is not really dead rumor. It’s “common knowledge” that Rytlock has been dead for centuries, but a rumor and some clues (correctly) suggests otherwise. Without the real Rytlock around to have a say (until the events in the game) lots of impersonators came up.

Agemnon.4608

I’m specifically talking about Trick or Treat bags. I’ve gotten my fair share of ascended mats like bloodstone dust…but not a single charged quartz (I’ll have my last charged quartz needed in a couple of days anyway to complete my ascended celestial ele but still, would be nice to have a drop). My magic find is 119% (up quite a bit from opening bags and is why I decided against selling them). Since ascended is a “rarer” (in the purely technical sense here) tier than rare it would logically follow that the lower the MF the better chance you have to obtain a charged quartz compared to higher. This is only the table for materials since gear would obviously favor a higher magic find.

Now let’s talk about small and medium bags. Scraps of leather and fabric are white rarity whereas things like small venom sac are fine rarity, so a higher magic find likely hurts us when opening such bags since at 0% MF opening 100 bags means we’ll have a lot less fine mats and more white ones (butter, scraps, cloth, etc.) whereas the higher number favors higher rarity tiers, meaning fewer basic/white quality resources.

As an off-topic mention I wanna say I like the change to making T6 mats rare quality. It seems far more honest that they’re indeed intended to be that scarce and should benefit from higher MF being in a higher tier than fine now.

Am I right on this? If not say where so I can understand it better so I can know where to stop my MF. My goal is 150% (170% with the ascended triforge since I gave it a MF infusion) so I can have reasonable chances at exotics while not getting flooded with fine mats when opening lower level bags.

By this logic, why would anything be tradeable? Why isn’t everything account bound so you have to do the work yourself and prove you played the game? We could simply farm everything we need, no currency necessary.

Since, you know, laziness…

Stuff dropped from the open world should be tradeable, not PvP exclusive stuff like skins and currency.

I can tell you what 7K ToT bags (which i bought, not farmed) gave me :

- 4 zuzu cat
- several of the halloween weapons (around 10 of em)
- necklace (green refractor)
- necklace (black refractor)
- several mini dogs
- 1 endless batwing brew.
- 1 gift of spiders (made the bow with it)
- a whole bunch of candy corns which i used to get vendor items from

I didn’t aim for the items in bold, but i sold it all off and came out on top.
So, no, it isn’t impossible to get. Even selling off the black refractor and some other stuff would have given me just enough gold to buy the batwing brew, but i’m not interested in the shoulders.

What’s your magic find? Speaking of which you get good MF from the bags, which is why I haven’t sold mine yet.

“Having separate functions for skills in PvE and PvP in GW1 was an absolute mess and undoubtedly a development nightmare, not to mention highly confusing at times.”

Rocket science may be confusing for the general public but not for a rocket scientist. What you mentioned is simply game developers doing their jobs, which they presumably know how to do since they graduated from college with that major. It may be tough for an amateur hobbyist programmer, but not for someone who does these things for a living and keeps up on the latest developments in that field.

“he problem is the Spirit mechanics is borderline broken, too powerful in PvP, too weak in PvE. "

Sounds like rogue from World of Warcraft but more extreme.

I’m not understanding your post. Do you think it’s really possible to design an MMO that people don’t burn through on a few days unless you put in grind? There were levels 80s a couple of days after the original game’s launch. There were people who burned through the whole original game in a month or less, and then left. I don’t know when the first Legendary was put up for sale, but it was only about 3 months or so after the game’s launch, and that was supposed to be a long term thing for people to try to get. You could argue that the game started without enough grind to keep people logged on and working on goals. Personally I’m liking that every time I get exp now it’s going towards something.

Yes it was “supposed” to be a long term thing to get but if someone plays all day then they logically should have that fast track by virtue of their being on more. You shouldn’t be punished for not playing all day but rather get rewarded for going above and beyond.

Compared to buying all the mats for crafting a light armor chestpiece it’s actually not that bad and some of the achievements were quite fun. Two of the chapter 7 ones were (rodeo and don’t get trampled) and all the chapter 8 ones (except for it’s all about timing, which to solo requires fire elemental powder and stalling strategies to ensure the circle stays red) were. Chapter’s 6 and 5 too (except for the better red than dead, that one took too long and the second from last was easy once you understood the mechanics)

I only did 5-8 but still, you earn that coat so I won’t call it “free” but the time and money saved is good.

Edit: Lol I looked at the picture! Yeah that is funny if I had that many gems I’d easily buy every upgrade, a couple thousand keys (which should round out to around a quarter of a million), all the vanity stuff, convert a million gems to gold, buy a scythe and a couple of legendaries, max out my storage of t6 mats and lodestones (should be 2,000 each with max storage capacity for mats) and save the rest for exclusives.

I actually liked Trehearn, and never understood the complaints against how his character was used, it seemed to make a lot of sense for any narrative with multiple “heroes”.

Still, I think this was a worthy end. Yes, he didn’t get to fight in physical form, but he underwent significant torture from Mordremoth, and survived it all. Without him, they would not have been able to enter the dream and defeat him. I think of all the major characters that faced a setback, his was the strongest by far. He wasn’t corrupted like Faolain, he didn’t betray us like Caithe (I mean when she stole the egg), his death was less of a “punk” death than Eir’s, and he wasn’t worthless like Zojja or Logan.

I think the game did him well.

But Logan’s the leader while Zojja’s the smartest member. I don’t think they’re useless at all. I think Logan will be the second from last one they kill off with Rytlock as the last survivor. I think Logan will die raiding a major inquest lab to save Rytlock from captivity where they’re keeping an elder dragon for research. He succeeds in freeing him but knowing the very slim chance of him doing so alive. Rytlock understands and breaks down crying and is the most prominent and important member of Logan’s funeral.

Speaking of skins they need to add more achievement based skins, like a Stalwart and other unobtainable version of luminescent where it has the Stalwart set shape but luminescent effects where you can only obtain it from very tough PvP rewards on a leather armored class (same rules apply to other armor classes).

That’s just one example.

Mount for GW2: The Dead Horse. It does nothing, cannot move, and comes with a stick to beat in the pathetic hope it will. In fact, it’s dead, rotting, and makes every NPC around you shun you meaning that you cannot buy, sell, craft, or enter any town or city, ever again. Also, it makes you attackable by everyone in WvW, you cannot join PvP teams, etc.

Why? Because you are sick and disturbed enough to insist on riding a dead horse and beating it.

The “Dead Horse” being flogged is giving any credence to old Dev statements re what will not be in game.

When mounts come, not IF, a good number of those going purple with rage at the mention of mounts will be enthusiastically grinding for them or buying gem cards.

Not me, ill be out, gliding is fun because it doesnt do anything aside allow you to go up or down, and its not always on.

Honestly i dont mind mounts if they are like the glider, if they do something for specific maps, See gliders, and the junundu from GW1, those are fine. I dont want my screen cluttered by massive particle effect monsters that ruin my FPS, and they really dont do anything for the game.

They actually do. They make it more convenient to reach certain areas while giving players another thing to aim for. They worked in WoW but not so much here where the base game isn’t really designed for them. If they ever do introduce flying mounts I hope they stay out of WvW because flying could open up a can of worms on that front. Imagine if flying were around in Alterac Valley? Yeah, too much abuse potential. It’s totally fine in PvE maps though where they only things that’ll attack you are AI.

Another long time GW1 player here. I was disappointed in GW2 at release, but learned to stop comparing it to its predecessor eventually.

I was expecting something a lot more like GW1, and still think they made some poor decisions purely to appeal to people familiar with other MMOs. Now a days, my biggest complaint is probably the WoW influence in weapon size and design, and the tacky immersion breaking gem store items, but that mostly comes down to aesthetic preferences.

That said, I’m still playing it, and it’s not like I don’t have lots of other choices.

Bumping for interest. Made an asura thief aswell, facerolling people in sPvP due to the fact that I got insane mobility from DD, 2 hard escapes(stealth), awesome burst(playing P/P). I don’t get the thief QQ that’s been going on lately

If you’re doing very well with D/D + P/P in sPvP, I think it’s just you being placed in a bad MMR. Sorry for what that imply.

I’m rank 9, so I guess you’re right. But I enjoy my profession, how come it fails hard against better people?

Anything should fail hard if they’re significantly better than you…which is simply the nature of them being better. If I play a master in chess I’m expecting to fail hard. The problem is when an OP class doesn’t fail hard against a better player simply due to class mechanics.

Too much mobility, too much invisible, too much dmg with spamming (no one can;t survive against thief with 50% hp at the moment of attack, even block biggest part of shots).
Just try to play someone else to understand, that thieves too strong even in handless player…
and main problem, that you can’t run away from this kitty. But he can run from you=)

If you’re losing to thieves then it’s a serious learn to play issue. Rev has reveals and thief has initiative so everything is on CD at the same time. If you shortbow 5 twice to go somewhere that’s all your initiative taken and shadow refuge is on CD for an entire minute. Thief damage is largely situational and only viable against a single target whereas ele can do big damage to a big group and because of attunement swapping there’s always something off cooldown.

If a thief runs away it means he knows he’s at a disadvantage and due to poor defense has to escape, so if he runs away consider it a victory.

Is it worth noting that Metroid Prime also was more a collection of rooms strung together with doors, and not really an “open” world? It could render only one room and the doors functioned as “loading gates” to allow the Gamecube to load the next room before it opened. (And we hate gated content here, don’t we?).

Oh, I know. Metroid Prime is not something that be compared to an MMO (MP being the superior experience, IMO), let alone being on the dated Gamecube VS modern PC’s. I was merely trying to say that a very well implemented 3D mapping system was in place on said now-dated hardware, more than a decade ago. Technology isn’t whats keeping those sorts of things from being in MMO’s.

Yeah most games today are railed with too many cutscenes and exiting story modes instead of destructible environments and then you have those that aren’t linear enough like Skyrim (which is still a fun game overall, especially with mods and a controller). Focusing on the story is fine so long as the basics are taken care of. For example where it’d be good writing to kill a character off in a game where you can and have brought characters back to life needs to be reconciled somehow. You can simply not kill them off or change “death” to “knocked out” but that’s lame compared to a priest or white mage fully (or not so fully in the case of a basic life spell that doesn’t give full HP) returning someone’s body to a non-injured state so the soul could re-enter the body. When there’s a contradiction between story and gameplay the story should be rewritten to reconcile it. Does a certain fun but senseless dungeon not fit into the story? Make it canon and part of the lore, but still keep it secret for players to venture.

They did a 32-bit client to maximize “accessibility” but let’s keep it real here: no one has used 32-bit for many years even Windows XP had a 64-bit version. By going to 64-bit they’d solve far more problems than they’d create. The average gamer today is saving up for a Pascal or Arctic Island card with HBM-2 and maybe some other hardware in 2016. I’m personally saving for a Cannonlake processor and Asus RoG motherboard ahead of time to replace my Maximus VI Hero and i7-4770k since Cannonlake should be the cycle where it’d be worth it. Maybe not purely performance wise but the PCIe should be far better optimized for SSDs by then and other features making the price worth it.

Of course it’s assumed that LS 3 will only be accessible to those of us with HoT but it’s about time we transition away from the Mordremoth arc.

Speaking of LS2 good luck! You’ll have fair yet challenging achieves like wicked rodeo and all the end boss ones whereas others like dodgy crowd and it’s all about time you’ll need to trial and error and even need to use outside sources like centaur potions or fire elemental powder at the proper moment. You’ll need some outside the box strategies for it’s all about timing since finding a group for it is very tough. It can be soloed but you basically need a perfect storm of conditions especially on the first part to ensure the circle stays blue and for the annoying NPC to not screw up your achievement by fighting in the circle.

The Zealot's problem

I got a watchwork pick when they were sold back in September before I knew sprockets contributed to Zealot stats and Googled power precision and healing power since I was looking for such a stat set. Was disappointed over how expensive they were but bought some recipes. While I’m still mostly berserker the extra healing power on the shoulders and pants can be felt (ascended triforge adds some nice healing power too) with withdraw and shadow refuge. I want all my characters (except ele, since celestial gives nice healing power) to have some zealot equipment so they could have decent healing without cutting into damage too much. I remember playing on my warrior and noticing how weak the heal was, so that motivated me to make him a pair of zealot boots and a couple of pieces of zealot’s jewlery. He’s two berserker, one zealot, and three soldier’s for armor, soldier’s hammer, bersker sword and great sword, and celestial shield. His ascended gear should be good for my guardian too, where I’m going for balanced with a slight power bent with decent healing just like the warrior (they’ll share an armor set but trinkets will be different) but the healing will have great group utility. If other people around you drop dead you’ll be left to solo content that assumes a big group is fighting it and won’t have the resources to handle it, thus the importance of big group healing is obvious. Pay attention to the combat log. Yeah my guardian isn’t level 80 yet but I’m obviously working on it.

Tl;dr: Zealot’s can help add some nice versatility to builds and make self and group heals meaningful.

Between an urgent call for a major class rebalancing and adding a 64-bit client it’s a tough call.

I like this idea too, even complete with character outfits.

Here’s my guardian in mostly flame dye, but the flames themselves are enameled generation. Then my thief.

It’s probably more lucrative to sell the bags then buy whatever drops from the bags on the trading post.
