Taimi is amazing. Vulnerable yet strong, with a simple yet deep story, an interesting, non-maniqueist personality, and a high contrast character design where her disability actually IS visible and not a mere mention. My favorite character in the game by far.

Same here. I love how upbeat and happy she seems. I loved her interaction with the charr engineer during season 2’s Silverwastes scenes.

People have sunk thousands of gold into the mystic forge, but that’s apparently ok with you. If you’re so much for parental control and worrying about gambling habits, why are you not concerned about people throwing away their fortune at Zommorros?

Zommorros doesnt accept gold coins, you must be mistaken.

He accepts mystic coins for some the best recipes.

More Asian martial arts themed weapon skins. I would like a 1-handed sword that looks jike a ninja sword (a ninjato) it would fit really well with Shiro Revenants. Also dagger that look like a sai, axes that look like a kama-complete with the rawhide straps that they sometimes swing from (complete with corresponding animation), maces that look like nunchucks…etc.

And just a general comment…I wish armor and outfits were more symmetrical. On too many things the left arm and shoulder is completely different from the right. Like the designer couldn’t decide between two different looks so decided to split our characters in half. It makes no sense.

Usoku’s Needle looks like a Sai.

Another suggestion…The Dreamer projectile pony mount as a toy ^_^

All that would do is exacerbate inflation.

“are more regions to unlock in soon weeks to come?”

I assumed so when I bought it. The base game had new areas with the living stories and even this early in story mode Mordremoth was taken care of. Defeating Mordremoth was just the beginning in this expansion and I think living story 3 will lead us to the Far Shiverpeaks (hopefully with HoT masteries still intact but still with masteries special for the mobs in that region) where the Inquest team up with the Sons of Svanir and Jormag wears ceramic armor made by the Inquest to resist heat damage (explaining why fire magic and abilities don’t hurt him as much as it should) and the Jormag fight in the next expansion has Inquest and golems fighting along with him. That’s my idea at least.

I detest any form of gambling in an MMO. I’d much rather have static and clearly established prices for specific items.

The problem there is as the game changes and things get introduced market values change. Dynamic markets can’t have static and clearly established prices.

Hmm… How about a mini-game including mounts? Or, more specifically, a racing mini-game, where we’re driving the charr’s war machines (the smaller ones, they look like cars from Mad Max, don’t you think?) while trying to “destroy” our opponents (similarly to Sanctum Sprint maybe? But with more deadly and combat-themed skills?).
That’s how I would like to see mounts and none other way really

Do NOT upgrade yet! It won’t be worth it the Ti is better than the 980 of course but Nvidia’s Pascal is right around the corner so I’d wait for that. Also I’d hold out on a new CPU with Cannonlake since the PCIe busses will be more stable for PCIe SSDs. Yes, you will want one.

" I am currently looking into playing Guild Wars 2 at a much higher resolution than 1080p. "

It’s playable at 4k with just a GTX 670 which is what I do. I take 8k screenshots (though it bugs out since the Windows 10 “upgrade” but worked fine with Windows 7 I say worked fine loosely however since it was a 7 FPS at best slideshow but I only did it for screenshots) when I can but with a Pascal GPU should be somewhat playable at 8k. I’d say certainly but that’s a lot of data to fit through the pipe. I have blazing fast internet speed at 90 mbps and upload speed of 6 mbps with a CAT-7 cable but even that should bottleneck 8k, though 8k videos on Youtube seem seamless so maybe not.

“In my opinion i think these kinds of gold sinks must be removed from the game as they create and host behaviours that are best left behind casino and illegal gambling doors.”

America’s founding fathers weren’t only devout Christians but also understood it isn’t government’s place to legislate morality. The friend who raged in chat should take personal responsibility for his bad behavior and exercise responsible control and judgment. Gambling may be a poor choice but so is the government punishing them for it. Two wrongs don’t make a right. If a government does something that doesn’t maximize market freedom or individual rights they’re overstepping a line.

“Don’t forget, children that play this game too.Parents cant be always next to them when they play.”

They can learn the hard way with fake money. I learned not to buy dye packs after the Taimi kits went on sale during the three year anniversary since I didn’t get an exclusive. I now have all the electro dyes (electro blue from birthday present when it was going for 1,000g) because I bought most from the trading post and why I smirk every time I open a black lion chest and say, “This is why I don’t buy keys.” Though from one key drop from a mob I did get a total makeover kit which was awesome.

Currently playing the game after 1 year break.
What I wanted GW2 to be? The succession of GW1 of course.
I wanted new good stories adventures. I wanted the lore to eat me alive and feel amazed with every piece of story I uncovered with friends (new and old together with new and memories of old NPCs). I wanted added improved awesome 2013-2015 quality voice acting and breath taking cut scenes. I wanted new missions and their HM counterparts. I wanted balanced, rewarding(skill-wise) instanced content. I wanted to eventually see Cantha and Elona.
So far I haven’t seen most of what I wanted. I’m still playing because to be honest GW2 is not a bad game, it’s just not GW1’s successor.
PSA. HoT is helping a lot voice acting and story wise (I haven’t finished it yet and I’m avoiding spoilers. So far it looks good).

As a literature student my best suggestion to ANet is probably to invest more in the lore/writers. I want to see more dialogs, I want to see all the plot holes disappear, and don’t want to see cheap plot twists. I want the writers to talk to each other and agree together on what’s going in the game. I want them to use their brains and think about everything that’s happening in the story and make each episode link together more smoothly.
Also for your information, employees of ANet:

GODS DON’T GO SCUMBAG STEVE AND PEACE OUT FOR HUNDREDS OF YEARS. Not all gods behave like, say Loki.

Good writing is a matter of opinion. People say The Great Gatsby was a classic but I personally thought it was boring. I believe that 200 years from now people will look back at Frank Miller as our age’s Shakespeare. Comics are where most of the great writing is at. You could have Batman win against Superman, which sounds ludicrous given that Batman is merely human (peak human, but still) but where the masterly writing comes into play is he does it in a convincing and plausible way. Although the Joker being as smart as Batman while lacking the hangups about killing and lacking a moral code should theoretically win most of his encounters with Batman, but since he’s a villain writing him to lose is obligatory. But he does so in a convincing way usually.

Speaking of the gods disappearing it could be an allegory for something else.

And yes, all the members of DE have character flaws. Which is refreshing. None of them are perfect and uber and the best. LOL they could never have killed that dragon without ME, let me tell you You wanna know who I really hate??

Trahearne. Useless mofo, always tagging behind in my story and making me wait, then stands there on top of the high point in Claw Island and does NOTHING the whole battle. That sword should be MINE.

What about Zojja and Eir? They don’t seem to really have any character flaws. Caithe arguably does, don’t want to spoil too much but Caithe killed her sister just before chapter 8's boss because the sister asked her to.

so wait… they are actually telling everyone … they meaning the anet support team… that we should all go out and buy a new PC so we can run the 64 bit client, when they still offer a 32 bit client just because they don’t want to fix it…

You have to be joking… right?

They didn’t officially say that did they?

The kitten game runs the exact specs as it did before the patch and there is a problem with the code.. not the system running it. If they offer a 32 bit client, they need to support that client or they can just start handing out the refunds to all the people still running this on a 32 bit client.

fix it.. OR REFUND MY WIFE HER MONEY for the game AND the expansion she cant play.

Can we get a dev or someone to make a statement on this? This is TOTALLY unacceptable!

Not necessarily a new PC but instead just a new operating system version. My Windows 7 Ultimate came with both a 64-bit and 32-bit version (Have since “upgraded” to 10…) and choosing 64-bit was the obvious no brainer due to increased RAM capacity at the very least. Upgrading parts can only help anyway and I’m personally saving for a Pascal GTX 1070 or 1080.

It was a very tough choice he had to make but I think he made the right call in the very long term. Though poor Zojja lost her Snaffie :( Logan as the leader has the judgment to make such decisions that may seem terrible in the short term. Take chess for example, a queen sacrifice may seem totally boneheaded to the viewer or even the opponent, but the open lines and force around the king that can’t be stopped make things clear later on.

The queen is a very nice lady so I can’t blame him for wanting to save her.

Yes it’s fully PvE but it’s worth doing if you WvW for the ascended armor chest.

Yes, in sPvP everyone has an amulet so stats are equal (though celestial is a bit more overall) and gear is totally cosmetic. It’s the fairest game mode since everyone has access to the same mechanics and advantages. Some classes are OP, but you can play on one like anyone else.

No for WvW gear is the same system as PvE. It isn’t as fair as sPvP since you can get overrun by a bigger zerg, something out of your control. It’s still fun and getting killed isn’t as painful since you’re dying with others in the zerg.

Game wide reward nerfing needs to stop.

Maybe because they want to decrease the amount of gold in circulation?
No really, that’s a good thing.

The major problem with deflation is it’ll make vendor stuff like icy runestones and salvage kits more expensive. If it deflates too much then a master’s salvage kit could become a painful expense. Even the upside, which is you earn more gold per vendor and drop, wouldn’t always be felt since high priced mats and gear like infinite light would keep their initial price tags but due to there being less gold to go around end up being more expensive in a practical sense.

No you need gems, but you can buy each chapter individually and I can personally confirm you don’t have to do so in sequential order, so you can start with 7, then 8 (I’m still on 8 just need the timed achievement) and get most of the tougher stuff out of the way before finishing your bioluminescence achievement. You get a choice of ascended gear upon completing it, just research before opening a box. I’d recommend the cloth chestpiece as it’s the most expensive to craft.

Even if you do some research before embarking on the achievements they can still be challenging depending on your class, spec, and gear.

Ls too hard

in Living World

Posted by: Agemnon.4608

Agemnon.4608

I play GW mainly for the story like you, but I did enjoy having a bit more of a challenge in LS2. Killing a “dangerous” creature in two blows is a bit of a let-down. It’s fun to think a bit and I was glad to have the chance to use my complete set of skills and even a couple of repair canisters that took too much of my inventory space. But I do agree, the dragon was a bit over the top. I ended up being more stressed after I beat it than relaxed as I should have been after playing a game. I know how to dodge, but sometimes, it felt there was nowhere to go. And the shadowy creature extinguishing the fire almost made me rage quit: as if the dragon stomping all over the place, the stupid shiny light dropped in random places and the exploding flowers weren’t enough already!

So, I say bosses should be 75 % of what they are right now in terms of difficulty and take half the time to kill or it gets repetitive and annoying. There should be check points in the middle of big battles as well… in case your connection fails or you just need to take a break.

When I finished killing the dragon, I felt happy… but exhausted. A guy wanted to group up and I encouraged him to solo it, I couldn’t bear doing it a second time. But he had already failed three times. So, you’re not alone. Yet, once you finish it, you’ll look back and laugh at the thing.

The dragon at the end of living story season 2 is actually fair if you play the right class. I had an arcane/wind/fire ele and a passive speed boost. You just have to learn the mechanics. Smotherer smiter is one of chapter 8’s easiest achievements. I personally had much more trouble with dodgy crowd and the worst seems to be it’s all about timing since time events, NPC “friendlies” that draw aggro, and needing to hold a point mix very poorly. You can’t control that NPC to run out of the circle drawing aggro and even if you shadow refuge him he’ll just chase the enemy (hopefully he’ll go far enough) so it can’t really be soloed that well. I’ll try dagger/pistol solo next time or do it with a staff elementalist with a group.

The flowers have a specific spot you need to step in to detonate without invalidating the achievement.

The problem with timed achievements however is minimizing risks takes a bit of time as you maximize safety and therefore your chances of completion whereas a time limit, especially an unreasonable one (for soloing) punishes that. Like I said earlier there’s a friendly NPC so he’ll take some aggro, and he unfortunately has no problem standing in the circle ensuring it stays red taking a lot of control out of the player’s hands.

Tl;dr: The dragon boss was somewhat hard but fair, at least as an elementalist and even finished the non-achievement part on my thief, which was harder but not too much so. Dodgy crowd was almost fair but you need to watch too much and don’t have your typical skillsets available to you (even if you play a thief many of the mechanics are different with Caithe, and believe her “10” skill with stealth should be an elite thief skill) but would be much fairer if you could start the boss battle again from a mote like the dragon. The timed quest is one where partying isn’t optional but is only reasonable with a party.

Agemnon.4608

You could try sPvP, it’s the fairest game mode by far due to everyone being on a level playing field except as far as skill and team coordination goes. Sure not all classes are created equal (teams of four eles are part of the meta for example or two eles and two engis for certain region rules preventing only one or two classes on a team) but what’s stopping you from rolling an OP class and getting some practice in on it with hotjoins?

If you lose you know it’s because your team was simple outplayed, losing isn’t fun but at least you have that understanding. No problem, people not on your team have to win sometimes too statistically speaking, but in PvE you can get swarmed with mobs and it isn’t fair how you can’t even fight a group of four or five in Silverwaste since you don’t have the resources to deal with them except for getting away. One isn’t a problem, just time your dazes (I’m on sword/dagger thief in PvE) and watch for back, shortbow #4 on the menders to cripple their healing output and watch them melt (gets hard at times if it’s scaled up though), watch teagariff tells and use the daze timing. But it’s rare to 1v1 a mordrem the pressure is too cheap dogs will just chase you off your target anyway, and menders will undo all your progress by healing them when you get away. None of that matters in a good map where everything melts, but still have to make the best of your maps.

It isn’t the volume I have a problem with but the pitch. It’s too high :( While too much bass is annoying too much in the other direction is too. I’m all for it making a friendly neighing sound but please replace the sound file with a playful whinny.

I have the bow myself (made it when it fired unicorn head projectiles) and like it (even the projectile changes +1 on the pop culture/hipster reference by the way) but sometimes Rainbow Dashiell gets too obnoxious especially in certain areas.

I really don’t like this quest because it’s only eight minutes. Normally I wouldn’t have a problem with it being a timed quest but you have to wait on the NPC a few times and even manually prompt to continue it by confirming with Marjorie. The major problem with it is the first part where you have to sit there and wait for the bar to fill and it always seems to stop at 4:30 (any lower than that and I log out and in again since I know that continuing wastes time). I get to the first crystal then time out.

The vets die in a reasonable time (with full ascended berserker’s and food to boost power and precision the speed at which they die should far exceed “reasonable” however) I tried dagger/dagger but it seems inferior to sword/dagger for performance. I have shortbow secondary but maybe something else would be better? Sometimes I can’t pull aggro away from the big guy. I know I should kill things in the circle and let the NPC fight mobs on the outside but scorpion wire does damage, speeding up the next wave’s arrival.

Skills I run for this instance are:

1.withdraw
2.power boosting signet
3.shadow refuge (should probably swap out until the third part)
4.scorpion wire
5.dagger storm.

In super competitive play there will always be the ‘preferred’ build or way to play. This isn’t ArenaNet’s fault it’s the players who think this is the only way to play and tell other people it’s the only way to play. I have seen many off meta builds do just fine in PvP (I don’t think I’m top tier by any means but I’m up there a bit). People just like to watch the pros and copy them thinking the build it was makes them win.

I’m not saying all builds are equally as strong or viable just that you can play off-meta and still do well. Skill > Build and many people think the other way unfortunately.

Without the optimal skill build your skill will be invisible or at least an uphill battle to demonstrate against good meta players.

Did you try speccing into shadow arts with the remove conditions and healing with shadow refuge? A lot of it is just how cheap fractals can be. How about taking haste it’s like thief’s version of shake it off. I go sword/dagger and aim for blinds, stuns, and boon stealing and works great in Silverwaste. I don’t dungeon or fractal very often though but like to watch for tells. In the dredge fractal you should stealth and hit the switch, I bombed it by hitting them, more getting summoned, and died. It’s cheap though how you lack the resources to solo four elite trash mobs, especially since they’re immune to blind in the dredges’ case. It isn’t PvP where four vs. one should be a guaranteed death sentence for the one even if Magic Toker is the one and four mobs should be managable for one player. I was doing it alright until more were summoned probably because the instance assumed more than one player in that spot fighting mobs.

I care more about Halloween content especially since it’s seasonal whereas I can level a revenant anytime afterward. Hero points only have to be unlocked once per character and it’s nice having long-term goals that don’t involve buying weapon skins and dyes or the mats needed to mystic forge them.

Third Female Human Body Type Option

Agemnon.4608

kitten no, there’s enough sexualization of human females as there is

Everything is (somehow) considered “sexualization” God forbid you actually like how a short skirt or tight pants look on a character.

There’s a lot more badkitten options for females in Gw2. Human female voice acting is HORRIBLE.
/imo

And besides, why would you choose the crummy female voice actor over Nolan North?

I personally have a male human (and male charr and asura and female asura so far) but so many of the female humans in game look very nice and not all are sexualized. Female humans sound very confident and proud. I’m considering making a female revenant but change it to male eventually when I exhausted enough dye, armor, and outfit combinations. I do such on my male characters too (except for the gender swap of course) and my personal favorite is the lion charr warrior I made though I don’t care for how some dyes make heavy scale almost indistinguishable from worn scale.

It’s very true that you can make a very nice looking female human; the noble dresses from the gem store look fantastic on them :o as does the wedding dress.

It’s just sad that most people would rather dress them like hookers than actually putting a decent effort into their look. That kinda ruins the character for me, turning me away from ever wanting to make one

Wedding dress and noble countess are my personal favorites. I like the classy look. I’ve seen some nice light (especially cultural kitten, and aurora), medium (rogue and priory), and heavy (T3, heavy scale, and carapace) armor sets for females you just have to find the right parts and dyes.

You do realise that upgrading the engine to DX11 would leave out all of the people already playing on DX9 and DX10 only machines right?. As there is a huge player base on DX 9 and 10 only machines. (WinXP and Vista, plus some Win7s)

And if you think maintaining two versions where one runs on DX11 and the other on DX10, (or 3 versions if DX9 only WinXP people should play) is easy, you have no idea what you are talking about.

Say goodbye to future expansions with the size of their team…

i dont understand why you cant buy a better PC unless your making minimum wage?

Because as a business its really stupid to tell perhaps a million of your users “screw you you have to all buy a new graphics cards and upgrade your OS in order to continue to play the game so that a small minority with the latest cards can be happy”

DirectX11 would be a reasonable compromise though. You could use it on Windows 7 systems (old OS) while enabling a 64-bit client to minimize Tequatl crashes. Playing on the lowest possible settings (and still having a risk of crashing) just isn’t fun.

If someone’s system is too lousy to play a game made in the 10s then they should just buy old games off Steam. You can even buy very old school 16-bit games off Steam in bundles.

DX11 is for Windows 8 and above, Direct3D is a version that works on Windows 7 but its not the same.

It would not be a reasonable compromise. Imagine the kittenstorm when Vista and Windows 7 users come to the forum complaining how they bought the game for the published requirements and now suddenly cant play it so that those 10 guys complaining can notice a difference.

None of you seem to understand a thing about how DirectX works nor how to run a business.

DirectX9 is dinosaur stuff though. I know enough to know that superior products sell better. We’re in the 4k era, you gotta change with the times man.

You can render 4K with DX9.

It is old, but when millions of your users sit on it, you dont tell them “spend 300-500 bucks for graphics card and OS to continue palying, or go to our competitors”.

I know, I even rendered 8k with it when I had Windows 7 (was a literal slideshow however but did it for the screenshots uploaded picture for proof) but it does poorly in Windows 10 where it keeps crashing due to needing compatibility mode. And 500 and even 300 dollars is an exaggeration since those cards would be optional, there would be lower end cards that would handle the game just fine and higher DirectX versions don’t mean you need a better card but it makes better use of the resources the card has.

I’ll gamble more on TP and put precursors, craft mats and cool looking skins for horrendous prices on it then – will fix problem.

Seruously… who came up with this idea of nerfing dungeon earnings?
Its only stupid because gold earned that way is already poop…
Better way is to decrease RNG loot so that stuff on TP wont cost whole GPD of a small a country so that everyone can actually have something instead of rich being richer and poor being poorer…

Nerfing least earning money thing in game… jeesh…
BUT what to expect – they want to sell EXPANSION for a cost of a full game…

Geniuses….

For the full cost of a DirectX11 game with 64-bit clients too. Dark Souls II is around the same price and has amazing PvP.

Well for some classes , which have a “kitten” spec like " tempest" ( it feels so boring and not special at all so far) is 400 hp kind of a “waste” ? … i mean that effort for … well yeah … tempest ? or other unloved specs ?

I’ve seen the warhorn air skill which pulls in mobs. That sounds great for countering point blank and multi-knockback trolls so you can ensure all mobs get AoE’d most efficiently. Only problem with it though is sacrificing a dagger to have access to it, but staff is typically better in large group outings anyway (I remember in WvW regretting going d/d since I ran into many situations where staff would have been better)

kitten no, there’s enough sexualization of human females as there is

I think you should try to maintain some kind of realism and certainly not risk promoting eating disorders, or unrealistic expectations in males…

Just because a girl is thin doesn’t mean she has an eating disorder. If anything people mostly have the opposite disorder: overeating. Combined with sedentary lifestyles leads to a population that’s too fat. The average American female now weights 160 pounds, which is heavier than even the average male should weigh (A man who is 5’8" with an average frame should be 140-155 pounds whereas a 5’2" female should weigh 100-115 pounds assuming an average frame some people literally are big boned…as well as small boned)
