I think there might be 5+ threads on the lack of loot in the first few pages of the discussion forum, so no you are not alone. The community has been begging for a way to craft or discover/quest for precursors for a long time. Anet stated that we would likely have craftable pres at the end of 2013, which obviously didn’t happen. That’s fine – if they make them craftable I really want them to get it right the first time. But there’s been no word on the street about it.

From the other lengthy threads on this topic it appeared that the reason the devs did not change the individual townclothes was because of needing to remake them. People complained and they changed the flamekissed light armor. Keep the rally cry going and it is always possible they will implement a better version of townclothes later.

That said it’s probably helpful to post in the townclothes thread instead of making a new one. It can be found here.

/praying for the day anet makes pres craftable/obtainable via some sort of epic quest

Except craftable pre requirements will probably look something like this:
x250 charged lodestones (2.5g each)
x250 other t6 mat (50s-1g each)
x250 snots of angels (priceless)
x1 thing you obtain not via tp orders

I’m just really hoping this isn’t the case and that they fix other loot in the game as well.

I’ve also crafted a legendary (had to buy the pre) and it absolutely did not feel legendary. It felt like I put in a lot of orders for mats. I didn’t even farm the mats – I tried but it got discouraging fairly quickly.

I do like that legendaries are heavily focused on crafting in this game but I would have much preferred an epic quest in order to get Zap instead of doing CoF/SE/CoE/AC/TA/mightbemissingone every day for uh…. a long time. I do like that they aren’t locked behind a raid where getting one is a matter of networking. I felt very much as I went along that it was something I could accomplish without requiring the time and patience of a coordinated group of other people (pugging dungeons aside).

Personally I don’t think a bigger visual would change how epic loot feels. Maybe exotics could be flashy when they drop down the side of the screen, but that wouldn’t change the fact that – whoopee – I just picked up yet another thing I will either salvage or tp.

WVW tourney is a fantastic example, actually. You do reap short-term rewards as you go, there is the title you could get pretty much as soon as you got the meta, and then there is the longer term reward of tickets that get (got?) dished out later. It was a single person effort as well as a community effort without requiring a commitment from a group of 10-20 specific individuals.

  1. Loot doesn’t drop often enough from mobs. It causes players to ignore mobs in the open world, skip trash in dungeons, and find the optimal path towards the best reward (the boss). This last bit will always be the case, but I feel the lack of reward takes something away from the game. For example, sometimes I see a thief stealth, mesmer teleport away, or others just run when being hit by a mob. I’ve occasionally offered to help them fight it only to find out that it isn’t because the mob is difficult… it’s because they want the thing to go away and not bother them – it isn’t worth killing. Mobs not worth killing? Ack.

Do you always know that the person’s not killing the mob because they want better loot? I know that, no matter how ‘good’ the itemization in the game is, I’m not wasting time killing mobs if I’m trying to find a new waypoint, get to a jumping puzzle, or other task that requires me to get from Point A to Point B without needing to kill mobs.

Oh I’m not arguing that at all. But in my experience there’s a bit of an extreme where I’ve noticed the people around me in the open world consistently fleeing mobs instead of bothering to kill them. I might be cherry picking or just noticing it more though. Dungeon runs might be a better example in terms of fleeing mobs because they aren’t worth what they or don’t drop anything at all.

And yeah… farming is NOT fun. I have seen it argued that some mmos require some amount of farming to stay alive since it is not humanly possible for developers to come out with enough quality content to keep us occupied between updates and I won’t argue either side of that.

Perhaps (at the risk of summoning a massive wrath storm on myself) completely removing farming isn’t the answer so much as adding a bulk of permanent content with unique loot so that people have more to go after. Preferably not things locked behind ridiculous RNG walls or with some kind of daily cap (precursors and endless cat tonics). There’s got to be some kind of middle ground somewhere.

I’m at about 150% MF. I’d say roughly 15% of the rares I’m getting each day (doing the world boss train) are from trash mobs. Just last week I got my first exotic from a trash mob.

I’m not quite sure where the right balance is, and the MF mechanic may be screwing things up (make loot better at low MF and it becomes too good at high MF). But there’s definitely a balance point in there where it’s worthwhile killing trash. From a loot perspective, I don’t mind killing trash because I’m averaging about 3-5 rares from them every day. Sometimes I even get more from them doing the pre for a world boss than I get from the boss itself (including the guaranteed daily chest).

I managed to break 300% (I think) between a birthday booster and several other buffs, after which I noticed a HUGE difference in EotM. A lot more rares and I’ve gotten one or two exotics from there. So it’s definitely making a difference but it also seems like a hefty barrier to entry.

I wonder what how people would feel if unnamed items dropped a lot more frequently early on and as your MF went up you started getting more named exotics? I think prior to this they would need to flesh out the droppable armor and weapon skins. But say there was another ‘tier’ of exotic things more likely to drop at higher mf levels (the only difference being that they have new cool skins)?

Note words “more likely” not “exclusively”. And definitely not a gear treadmill.

@anzenketh – ah, I see what you mean. To clarify my first post, there are days I just want to get a dungeon done, nice and quick, so I do like some things being skip-able. My problem is that at the moment it feels like the game has a number of extremes very little middle ground. And I want to feel rewarded for stopping to kill stuff by getting a healthy collection of loot.

I think maybe that might be a good way to discuss this topic? The “health” of loot. It isn’t good to have extremes but there needs to be some good diversity and a nice amount. At the moment it feels ‘anemic’.

@Recalibar – I’m not sure deflation is actually possible in this point. I am under the impression that it is something that VERY rarely happens in MMOs if at all. Inflation in small gradual amounts is not a bad thing, it just tends to happen in digital economies. Extreme inflation is bad – like what we saw at last year’s Queen’s Jubilee. Because this game has a gems-to-gold conversion system inflation has basically been guaranteed. That and our characters do not need basic necessities – food, rent, a retirement fund, etc.

I definitely agree with needing better loot. More diverse loot might help with the issue of inflation because it would give players more to go after.

I think gw2 is a game that is marketed towards those who want to subsidize time that would be spent in the game with money instead to get rewards. I don’t think that will ever really change.

Which is fine…I guess. Those people need a place to game also. But it’s time WE find our place to game and stop trying to turn this game into something the devs don’t want it to be.

Just my recently developed opinion on gw2. I hope no one takes that the wrong way.

I fully appreciate that opinion. My guild has almost completely dissolved due to needing a different place to go (and they were all super casual!). I’m just hoping that maybe things will change.

Could you clarify a bit on that first point? I remember something about CM but not the specifics.

There is a are in CM between the backyard and the boss at the end that just has too many mobs to fight. If you attack one it bring too many and the party is likely to wipe so there is no way to wipe all the mobs. I think Sorrow’s Embrace also has a similar area.

Oh, are you referring to the hounds in Path 2? There’s a mob with a pack of hounds that pats around in the back. I’m a little confused as to what you mean by this being by design in regards to my listed “semi common complaint #1”. I would think that if this group dropped decent loot that players would make more of an attempt to kill it rather than flee. Or at least, in most of the runs I’ve done of CM players usually vote to flee.

What About Those Who Like To Farm?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Allaraina.8614

Allaraina.8614

The problem with developers stating that they do not want players grinding or farming is that they then need to produce a non-grindy way for players to achieve coveted items. IMO there seem to be two extremes in this game: some items are entirely easy to get and other items require a lot of intensive farming to get the gold to obtain. Players with a particular “skill” set have a bit more trouble making a profit because there is not very much exclusive to a particular style of gameplay.

Ex. If I enjoy crafting and want to make money off of that there isn’t much between generic exotics and ascended items that I can put on the tp (no special skins I can craft, no town clothes, etc). In the case of dungeons, outside of Aetherpath there is no drop I can go hunting for to stick on the tp. Champs had those special weapon skins which was nice… I wonder what will happen to the prices of those?

Of course it is possible to make SOME money crafting but in my experience it ends up being closer to TP flipping. It could also just be that I suck at making money on the tp.

OP – very thoughtful post…thanks.

I see a lot of good ideas and thoughts in previous posts but something that I rarely see discussed in these forums relating to more challenging or substantive (whatever that means) content…is that the nature of content has been changing over the years. No, I am not talking about casuals or hardcores or anything like that. In thinking back to my beginning years in MMOs, raids and, to some extent, dungeons were not content that was conducive to a quick 30-45 minute jaunt. Guilds took weeks (months in the case of my guild) to clear raids. I can clearly recall a dungeon taking 4-6 hours (Maruadon or Sunken Temple for WoW veterans).

Now, our attention span is measured in minutes. The problem with open world events in this changing age is that they must be designed such that you can bring a large group of diverse people to the scene with an expectation of finishing in less than an hour…usually far less than an hour. Even dungeons have evolved so that they can be done easily over a lunch break or…heck, even a coffee break for some folks.

I regret that I do not have any good ideas for solving this dilemma. The issue certain transcends this particular game…I see the same arguments and the same issues in other game forums.

That’s very perceptive of you – thank you!

kitten anzenketh, you beat me to it. :P I just wrote a 1500 word post in a text document for exactly this. To avoid multiple threads I will post parts of it below.

(By the way that two players went through the effort to compose massive posts and other players bringing it up should signal this is indeed a huge issue.)

The major complaints I have heard so far are as follows:

Ack.
  2. Loot isn’t diverse. The gemstore has seen a number of armor sets added to it and the living story has given us some interesting helmets/backpieces. It would be nice to see a greater variety of gear skins, trinkets, toys, etc added to the game that can be obtained in game, and loot is one of those ways.
  3. Loot isn’t specific. If you hate zombies Orr probably isn’t the place for you and you probably wouldn’t be interested in potential armor from Orr that looks like the cadavers you stripped them from. But the skins you can only obtain by killing Triple Trouble or Teq make those fights (for some) worth the it. What if Southsun Cove had a set of lootable armor with a karka or seashell look? What if there was a frost-themed set that dropped from mobs in FGS or all minotaurs had a chance to drop a minotaur plushie your character could snuggle with out of combat?

Will adding more loot create inflation?
Yes. However there are ways to cope with that and small amounts of inflation is not bad. I have nothing against TP flippers but this does not give the economy added value – instead it artificially raises the prices of items. The finer details of what should be BoA, BoP, etc are all up for discussion – not everything needs to be TPable.

My personal gripe: I enjoy playing my characters. I also enjoy playing dress up, going exploring, treasure hunting, and fighting giant zombie-spewing dragons. And I enjoyed kicking Scarlet in the face. On that note I felt the reward was okay for kicking Scarlet in the face. The crafting item was nice, the helmet was REALLY ugly, but hey I got a new skin.

What I would like to see: More item drops and more silver on mobs in general and a MUCH greater variety of in-game skins. Important items should not be so heavily locked away by RNG. They should be a challenge of skill, not of chance.

Two illustrations:
(1) If I see a killable named NPC (I’ll call him Charlie) I want to go after him full gusto, guns blazing (or stealth-smack him from behind), kill him good and dead, and walk away with his unique jacket. You know, custom tailored because Charlie is dapper like that. It doesn’t need to be a max level jacket – just a cool look that isn’t anywhere else in the game because Charlie paid good money to have it made just for him. Maybe his head will be in just nice enough condition that I can put it on a pike and leave it as an ornament outside of my house. And since he’s fancy I’m guessing he had some money on him, so I’ll take his wallet too.

(2) Say you go out exploring in Brisban Wildlands and you see an interesting structure you want to jump on or a new area you hadn’t noticed. And inside is a cool cave. Neat! Rp spot! Or just cool place to explore. Well, what if there is a dead npc, sculpture, or some other easter egg (turkey room)? Bonus! That’s a fun discovery and I imagine a lot of people might get a bit of a thrill from seeing that. Well….. what if there’s a chest at the end? It seems to me that this is the ultimate reward for most players (similar to jumping puzzles).

But we could make this better.

What if there was loot specific to this area in that chest? And what if one of those things is a toy skritt that you can pop out and laugh evilly as it chases players through DR for a certain distance? What if instead of a toy skritt the chest dropped a sword skin that sometimes spawns a small family of skritt to stand there laughing as you slaughter your enemies?
———
Somewhere in here is a nice balance between RNG, reward, and obtaining items through challenges or a series of quests.

Hmmn, yes I agree. But I also feel that condition damage should be somehow buffed in pve. Again I don’t know what that would look like but my dungeon experience (bit different) is that it is far inferior compared to straight up zerk. I do not like that it feels inferior but when I see a full zerk group go through TA F in 10 minutes…. it’s hard to argue. It would be really nice if conditions were on par with straight up damage and (preferably and) new boss encounters were designed in a way that encouraged more diverse builds.

That said…. seeing any group get through TA F in 10 minutes blew my mind @ – @

One problem I have with Teq and Jorlag is that I cannot actually hit them with anything other than the 1 key. Maybe I can with icebow 4, but otherwise the ground targeting is a bit weird. That is one thing that could be fixed but I don’t know how or what it would look like after.

Another thing is condition damage. There have been a lot of threads on this (or at least… I seem to remember there being?) but zerk is still the best damage spec* and condition damage seems to matter very little in pve. These bosses usually have consistently maxed stacks of each condition but maybe there is a way for it to matter more? Like the boss flies away for a bit but gets a debuff where it takes double or triple condition damage while it is out of reach so players need to stack it up before it leaves?

(*editing to clarify that zerk appears to be best damage in pve)

Oh my god I’m agreeing with a white knight!

Wat.

I’ve always found that moniker troubling as I have complex, conflicting feelings about much of the game. But try to suggest that Game Developers are people with feelings and we should be respectful when attempting to engage? BEWARE WHITE KNIGHT IGNORE OPINION NOW.

To be fair, I often do this myself in other circumstances. It’s very hard sometimes to recognize when you’re disagreeing with somebody because you actually disagree or whether you’re just tossing them in a stereotype bucket so you can insult them more easily.

Anyway.

I haven’t seen the gold/silver loot, so I don’t know if it’s much better. In the past, though, you’re right, the loot for success was rarely improved enough to justify having to coordinate/do the work. That’s definitely a concern.

In-game tutorials would be incredibly helpful especially for the (not-insignificant) number of people who refuse to read mapchat.

I was being a bit facetious when I probably shouldn’t have been, so I do apologize for that and if what I said was hurtful.

My personal frustration is that the community seems to be very divided. In my experience when someone brings up what they see as an issue some people respond with “no ur wrong!” and then do one of several things; defend the game/game company, tell the person bringing up the issue or others in the thread that they should just go play another game if they don’t like this one, or just generally continue to ignore the major points/concerns brought up.

What happens then (at least what I have observed) is that both sides tend to paint a flat picture of the other and throw darts at it. This isn’t constructive and causes further division. Perhaps as a community we shouldn’t be responding in absolutes but asking more about where people are coming from and why they think the way they do. From there we can begin to brainstorm a solution. I get the feeling that people who bother posting in the forums in the first place are passionate enough about the game to do so. Disagreement is valid, but you’re right, we shouldn’t be making people into caricatures so that we can punch holes in them. And again, I apologize for whatever part I have played in it.

On the matter of raids….
I personally hope that they do not implement those. I used to be a raid leader in another game and in an environment where there is no gear check/dps-hps meter, I wouldn’t want to have to guide them. I do enjoy fractals and am hoping to go back to doing high level fractals. Even if raids DO get implemented at some point, in terms of these boss fights and current open world content I firmly believe there are solutions that can be implemented in the open world.

snip

My only concern is that then people would simply sit in DR or station a friend/guildy there so that someone can make a general announcement “hey guys, drop your dungeon/whatever you are doing cause Teq is up!” Maybe something like that but making the announcement on the UI like back when Scarlet was randomly attacking zones?

Oh my god I’m agreeing with a white knight!

Wat.

I think that at the start of these events NPCs should be available to tell players basically how to complete the challenge. At least if the events are ‘farmable’. I seem to remember them saying that they have no intentions to put any sort of in-game voice communication system in, so there’s that. New players/players without a guild/players who do not use or do not know how to use mapchat won’t have any idea what is going on. So a very brief explanation for those willing to talk to an npc (marked say with a magical moon over their head) could get a quick rundown. Or a blingy light on their screen saying ‘Hey, wanna help me out? I’ve seen this tragedy before, so talk to me to find out how to defeat it!’ You can choose to not talk to them of course, if you want to figure it out yourself, but it might also help keep the player in the game and not alt-tabbing out to read up the wiki.

Of course, there is a whole issue of ‘is the loot worth it?’ that myself and others keep going back to.

Just some thoughts.

Do you want us not to farm champs?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Allaraina.8614

So I would venture to say they are not wanting trains. After playing through the boss blitz in the Crown Pavillion, this became quite apparent after I realized they nerfed drops from mobs. After the dismal rewards from the successful completion of that event, I find very little at this moment to continue with the Crown Pavilion.

The only reason I can think for these changes is due to the complaints made by other players. I remember last year tons of complaints made by the players in gauntlet. QD train got lots of complaints too. Maybe anet is trying to fix the squeaky wheel?

I think the common denominater here for most players is fun (duh), but we find that fun through rewards, most often loot. I watched the Boss blitz fall apart. I was trying to break us up in teams, but most wanted that zerg mentality. We all want the loot, but I don’t know if we can get coordinated enough to not zerg. It’s sad and frustrating to spend all this time and get mostly greens and bloodstone dust.

Am I in the minority here? Or do you mostly find your fun through loot rewards too and have been finding them sorely lacking?

I DO find loot rewards to be sorely lacking. Not necessarily just in quantity, but in diversity. I was really hoping that at this point in the game there would be more armor skins…. that can be acquired in game. Very little has been added in comparison to the amount added to the gem store for the duration that this game has been alive. And before anyone says “that’s how they make money!” hush you. I have been more than happy to buy things off the gem store when I see something worth buying (I have several armor skins, toys, pets, etc). I would be more likely to buy off the gem store if I could get more rewards by… playing the game. But I feel that when more armor is added to the store and not the game I get more the feeling of “hey look what I spent $10 on!” and less like “hey look what I achieved!”. I have the same issue with legendaries… I have one and it does not feel epic. It feels like I ran a lot of dungeons over and over and then bought stuff off the tp.

Adding the unique weapons to the loot bags was a good step, imo. I just would like to see more of that… in the rest of the game.

Beautiful!

I personally just keep 2-3 sets of armor on each character – changing skins on 16 alts is way to expensive. The wardrobe system does very little for me in terms of usability other than to see what is out there. After work today I may pop in and link some of my own characters. Absolutely lovely!

Maybe this has already been stated but I’m trying to put it concisely:

Anet cannot make content as fast as people will finish it. Ergo, it might be necessary to put in content that takes longer to finish as well as gameplay that is consistently rewarding so that the game remains alive between breaks and is more exciting for those not interested in LS. There are certainly achievements that take a long time to finish but there doesn’t seem to be much of a middle ground IMO.

A good place to start might be to add more unique loot obtainable in the game and increase/diversify loot dropped from regular mobs. Why should I bother killing…. well, anything… if I won’t be rewarded for it? The combat is fun but it isn’t fun enough to merit pewpewing what I can skip over to get to a more rewarding target(again, imo). Wouldn’t it be nice if the karka in SSC had a small chance of dropping a unique SSC styled armor skin and in general dropped other less rare but interesting loot? Or why not buff the drop rate of some of the harder to find mats in the game like charged orbs so that people play the game more and not the tp? Just some thoughts, not really married to any of them (except unique skins, I want more of those in game).

Personally I don’t care that the Queensdale train is gone. I haven’t checked the FGS train in a long time, but I ran them sometimes for monthlies and I appreciate that that is how people spent their playtime.

Eighteen (and counting) pages with this much response from you over a MAJOR issue, while another related item (Customer Service) with only four pages (at the time) gets twenty responses? What the hell?!?!

I’ve been perusing other threads and following the dev tracker. I appreciate that they’ve been in China and are overburdened with work but….. something would be nice, especially when they are responding in other threads. I hope they are having/have had some kind of meeting to decide how to follow through with this.

My asura will never again get to wear her rainbow playclothes. I was really hoping they would enable townclothes in SAB just so she could run around in this outfit.

Legendary Armor: Yes or No?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Allaraina.8614

Allaraina.8614

We will see it somewhen in the future.
the first legendary equipment besides of weapons that has been spoken of are legendary accessoires, like legendary rings, legendary earings, legendary necklaces and legendary back items.

Thats the first stuff that we will see, before we will see legendary armor sets, that require alot more work.
Due to the point, that accessoiresare no items with any visuality, except of the back items, we can just guess, that if we might ever see something like legendary rigns/earrings/necklaces, that these items might provide us new overall visual effects.

Example:

Sacred Light of Dwayna
Legendary Version of Light of Dwayna
Has bigger wings, more impressive sparkling lights and your Dodge Roll-Animation changes into a Flash of Sacred Light

The Ursurpator
A legendary Amulet with the power of a mighty ancient old demon sealed within it, which has been said, once had the power to become stronger by draining out the energy of its victims.
Wearing this Amulet could add visual Weapon Swing Animations that all your attacks look like, as if you would drain health out of your foes

The Destiny’s Eye
A legendary Ring, that has been said, gives those who wear it the power to see the future.
Wearing that legendary ring you give you the visual effect of Retaliation permanently, regardless if you have the buff acttive or not

The Dawn of the Golden King Moa
A ledendary Earring with an impressive shiny golden down of the golden king moa.
Wearign this, gives you permanently the animation of Swiftness, regardless if you have the buff active, or not, you look much swifter with this earring

Stuff like this would I love to see getting implemented with legendary accessoires.

Legendary Armor Sets should just visually look awesome and should be together with Ascended Armor Sets the equipment, that should be able to use on them also new Ascended Runes which would be slightly better accountbound runes with the feature to also be changed outside of battles like Stats.

Would definitely like ascended something sorta like this. I don’t like the idea of combat buff animations, but maybe glowing points on the character’s finger where a ring would sit? Something to indicate fancy rings? Rainbows swirling around the hands? A glowing amulet visible over armor? Something flashy or that has some interesting new effect. Maybe leaves and flower petals trail after your hands for rings or start growing through your hair for earring.

Funny story: this one time I let someone bring a level 9 character into a CM explore path. That person not only did well, they died less than some people at level while also engaging in combat/not cowering in a corner while we moved through the dungeon. This person had a low AP score AND was ridiculously under-leveled. It was their first account. I spent the entire dungeon laughing hysterically as other party members were trying to figure out how the crap this person stayed alive.

I too find running dungeons with newer players, tends to go by faster, than the “pro runs” that some people insist on doing.

The problem is that when you have fun, the time really does go by quicker. (People who are not stressed out, usually tend to perform better. There are exceptions of course, but normally stress is bad.)

Absolutely true.

I wanted to add that while I did say ‘tend to’, obviously that isn’t always the case. I’ve certainly had many fantastically successful (and even fun!) runs with people who have 10k+ ap and have run dungeons a trillion times before. At the end of the day I think the point is it’s more about attitude than anything else.

hm, I will hijack this thread with a question to all of those laid back, maybe doing dungeon once in a livetime, because doing other stuff in game and never actually got to doing them, they are rather boring, but with a fun group one would actually do some sometimes…

If I put up a lfg with such requirements
1)dungeon noob
2)brain
3)able to communicate
4)humor

would you join?

Can I join if I pretend to be a noob?

People who perform AP checks tend to bug me so I usually avoid those groups. I also find that groups who are the most serious about people being super pro tend to take longer to complete content than groups who are a little more chill. I would much rather take along someone with a low AP score, train them to do the dungeon, and then have an eager, reliable dungeon buddy in the long term.

I hope the deafening SILENCE from ANet means that every available person there has been working overtime turning every piece of our old Town Clothing into workable armor skins, like they should have done in the first place instead of taking shortcuts. That is what people wanted. Not just hats. Not to wear full “sets”. Ah, to dream!

I’d like to add that at this point I’d like town clothes to be remade as armor skins… that are free to apply. Or as dyable outfits. But I think it would be silly to pay charges to use them when they were previously free to toggle on and off.

I’ll try to give more details later but it can take me up to 10 minutes to load into DR with my graphics set to ‘best performance’. I have never had that happen prior to the April 15th patch. Outside of DR it takes me 2-5 full minutes depending on the zone. I used to be able to pop right into zones without having to knock my graphics down unless something big like Jorlag or Teq were up.

This was my addendum:
547380:Gem refunds
I’m responding to say that I’d also like a refund for my witch’s outfit (I forgot about that one). So that makes three:
- wintersday outfit
- witch’s outfit
- x1 Kasmeer’s clothes (phoenix thing or whatever it’s called) because I bought 2 sets.

I also included my credit card information in the appropriate forms. Is there anything else I’m missing?

Will guild limit ever be raised above five?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

I would love to join more than five guilds. I’m in one for guild missions, one for my personal bank, I’m the GM of one that’s extremely small, I joined two others for pve stuff and I REALLY need space for an rp guild or two – especially ones that are for a particular type of rp (nightmare court, slaying nightmare court, etc).

Just join one guild that has ALL of these things. Tarnished coast guilds have all of the things you listed, and it wouldn’t be too hard to get a position to use the guild bank.

You say that like its actually easy. There are a ton of guilds that claim to PvX and do everything but most of them only do some things very occasionally (if at all). Then you get very specific events that require a ton of people like Teq. I don’t rp but I would imagine finding a guild that dose the specific rp you are looking for, everything else you want to do, is big enough to always have member wanting to do what you want to do and have guild missions would be near impossible. I use my own guild bank for personal storage not to share it so it isn’t the same as just using a normal guild bank that everyone has access to.

Exactly this. I rp and with megaservers coming in I apparently need to be in some sort of regular rp guild (if my understanding of their description is accurate). But I also enjoy doing others events and finding a friendly, active guild that doesn’t require 100% rep (back to how I also want to be in an rp guild) is difficult.

Effective stats for a PVE spirits build?

Hello lovers! (and friends /awkward silence)

I am thinking of, someday, making an ascended set for my ranger. I run a hybrid spirits/damage build for dungeons and am really enjoying playing support. Plus, spirits are friggin adorable and I love my walking forest.

What is a good armor set that compliments using spirits defensively? I’m a little confused as to how spirits work in terms of stats. I know Stone Spirit and Storm Spirit both give boons while Frost Spirit and Sun Spirit put on conditions. My utilities are USUALLY Water Spirit, Stone Spirit (for protection), Frost Spirit (bonus damage), third slot as needed depending on the situation, and finally Spirit of Nature. So what’s a good set that compliments a hybrid build and plays to the strengths Spirits provide?

Thank you! =D

Thirteen pages and counting, consisting mostly of complaints, and I haven’t seen a single response from the company acknowledging the feelings of the player base. Someone please tell me that I’ve just missed it somewhere else, and they are looking at options to help alleviate some of the pain we’re feeling around town clothes.

I know their policy is that they usually won’t respond directly to people’s complaints in the thread itself, but surely there should be some official communication saying, “we’ve heard you, and we are considering what we can do to make it right.” And no, I don’t consider refunding gems “making it right”.

I think it’s fair to say that there are a lot of people waiting for that message from the company before making a final decision on what to do. As for me and the people I play with, that’s our feeling right now. Maybe they’ll acknowledge that they made a mistake or underestimated the strong feelings of the player base. If not, it’s a real shame. In the mean time, I’m filling my time with other games as I am too disheartened to play at this point.

A lot of us in this thread were hoping for some sort of similar confirmation. I can try to dig up a few of the dev’s responses when I am not on my way to work, but my impression was that they didn’t really address the heart of people’s complaints. Initially they said (or at least I was under the impression) that refunds for outfits would not be available. There was a rather massive outburst over that so it seems they’ve changed their minds.

Elaborate further on specific changes. IE saying town clothing is being converted to “tonics” was rather general and didn’t tell us much

As a short closing statement, I would like to remind ArenaNet that the only reason why there are so many upset people from this is because they really enjoy your game and that they care about it.

This and this. I’m getting annoyed with other players defending Anet on this issue in the forums (and in game). “Rpers gotta stop QQing!” etc (which is hilarious cause of a lot of people who have complained have stated they are not rpers). I wouldn’t be so upset about it if I didn’t care about the game. And I love it enough that I made a decision to support Anet with my wallet.

I’ve already asked for a refund for two of my outfits and I’m debating moving on and asking for the rest as well. I guess we’ll see what happens?

I guess I’m secretly hoping that the tonics will go back to being town clothes, so I haven’t asked about them yet. It’s weird because I bought more than 3 pieces of town clothes, but it seems some were “fused” into a single tonic. I wonder how refunds for that is gonna work….

Editing to add that I would love it if they took the “outfits” and broke them up into 5 or 6 pieces so I could put my individual town clothes into an “outfit” slot and toggle that on and off. I would be so happy with that. _

Still no Armory for GW2?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Allaraina.8614

I’m thankful that there is no “gear check” in GW2. IMO ‘gear’ doesn’t determine how good a player is at their character/spec and tends to encourage a sort of ‘all or nothing’ mentality with dungeons (zerk only cof, players kicking players from dungeons for running condition builds).

BUT I would like a sort of armory where I could show others what my character currently looks like and maybe my achievements. Nothing more than what can be seen in-game, but available on the web or a smart phone. Another option would be the ability to turn ‘detailed achievements/armor’ on/off.

[Suggestion] five free Transmutation Charges

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Allaraina.8614

Allaraina.8614

This is absurd.

The only thing your wallets will be stabbed with is refunded gems.

You get to keep your armors and your skins. Your town clothes that literally had a mere 4 options for customization (so yes you looked like 1/4 of the player base of that race) are being refunded. What the heck guys? Is this really what you choose to meow about ?

I was being a bit facetious earlier, so I do apologize for that. I’ve been with Angelica in the big town clothes thread, which has been filled with impassioned arguments with very little dev response. I guess I’m feeling a little tired and, judging from the things people have said in the other thread, it sounds like they’re getting tired too. Possibly because a lot of intense emotion has been drawn out about something that hasn’t been answered maybe as well as it could have.

I love free charges (shoulda specified that) and I think that’s great. I actually love almost everything about the wardrobe system.

Sorry if this gets a bit wordy, but I’m going to pull a little bit from my understanding of the other thread that Angelica and I have been in to explain the frustration I’ve seen people voice specifically about town clothes.

In regards to what I have seen/understood the people who have actually purchased town clothes say:
- they don’t have a problem with them being used in combat
- they love the majority of changes to the wardrobe
- they are happy other people are getting what they want

However:
- they specifically purchased items, including outfits advertised (and continued to be advertised in-game even after the news announcement) as sets comprised of individual pieces that could be mix and matched
- tonics, while refundable, will not be usable in combat or dyable, which means that both the people who bought them to be used as outfit parts AND the people who want town clothes for combat lose out
- the people who purchased the holiday “sets” to use one or two specific parts lose out AND will not be given a refund except possibly on a case-by-case basis. That seems to be a major point of contention.
- My understanding from that thread (and personal opinion) is that it seems weird that anet is drastically changing something that many people have spent real world money on in a way that doesn’t continue the philosophy of the purchase or even the philosophy behind the new wardrobe system, which seems to be enhancing character customization. A lot of people who have cited real-world experience in modeling and programming have suggested alternative solutions to the problem.

The major issue seems to be that anet has stated that they will refund tonics for gems but the feeling I’ve gotten is that they are unlikely to refund sets even though a group of people purchased sets for mix-and-match. And the refund will be to gems, not to any real-world money that was spent. So they keep the money.

Again, I apologize for sounding overly flippant. I’ve been stalking the town clothes thread since it took off and the heart of the matter seems to be the wallet issue.

And I’ll never say no to free transmutation charges. My alts tend to eat those stones right up! >:D
