i felt a little sorry for tegwen (at least we have her for 3 missions) and the asura bomber which name i forgot.

also i hated that the pale tree asked me what was my worst fear only so that can become true… you kitten!
although none of those choices reflected my worst fear, i mean, why my character should fear those things to begin with??

my first mission in the order of whispers was a drinking pirate death match, my boss a clown.

although the sylvari personal story arc was really interesting and new to me, very nice story telling, i was suddenly intrigued by the wyld hunt and all the fairy like concept around the life of a sylvari and caithe and trehaerne weren’t that bad there. it was like to be introduces in a community, every single npc i was caring of.

but than the orders happened and even worse trehaerne forgot about me… (than had caledbolg even if i retrieved it)…

and destiny’s edge? do we want to talk about their verbal abuse to each other in the grand plaza of lion’s arch? i was embarassed for them, it was like watching a really bad episode of gossip girl

I understand some people had that reaction to Buffy, and I must admit there are one or two episodes that I deem questionable myself, but on the whole its hard to argue Buffy is, akittens core, a sexist show.

I brought up Buffy for the exact reason that some people had similar views on the show that people are using here, and they have been debated from every which angle, and in the end MOST advocates of feminism agree that a depiction of a strong, powerful, beautiful woman kicking kitten is a positive image for women. And again, the buffy-bot example seems particularly apt.

And there’s a difference between reacting to something and wanting it censored. These robots are Queen Jennahs artistic message to the world of her image of herself and humanity.

Ypu’re allowed to dislike the aesthetics. Labelling it as inherintely sexist doesn’t seek to have much merit, for the reasons a lot of posters have outlined, but our best points get ignored in favor of pursuing straw dogs. Did anyone even watch the link city pidgeon put up?

although when buffy discover the true origin of slayer power she call it a kitten ! also when the same men that created the first slayer offer her a power up she strongly refuses it despite the threat at hand and she go away and come up with her own solution to the problem (sharing the power).
this is why buffy is a feminist icon more often than not, because she is the protector, she is the leader she never gives up and never been sidekick. also she often rescue her male and female friends when in danger while she always save herself! nobody ever came to buffy rescue, to aid her yes but that’s it

@Erasculio: The point is they do not even need those body parts to begin with, yet there they are, for some reason beyond anyone’s comprehension.

The point is actually that they are part of the design for whatever reason the designer felt was necessary. Because you personally don’t see a reason for them, doesn’t automatically mean they’re bad, or unnecessary.

Here is a thought experiment. In places like Italy, it is not the social norm for women to walk around topless. However, there are thousands of statues, paintings, and other forms of art that depict topless, and fully naked women.

Why do people flock to Italy to look at the art, and not just settle for looking at nudity on the internet? Perhaps, it is because it’s not about the nudity.

Perhaps, it is because some people are able to see the beauty in art. That some people are more interested in the design, craft, and function of an object, than they are about whether it is nude or not.

See, the thing is you seem to be making this a sexual thing. You see “nipples”, a curvy butt, and high heels on a robot and you make it a sexual issue. To me, this is the equivalent of going to Italy and arguing there is no reason why the statues must be naked, and then saying it must be because of some male power fantasy.

I would argue they do have a point. It adds to the aesthetic of the robot. And while I may view it as sexualized, I don’t view it as sexual…meaning I don’t get all funny in the pants because it has pixelated nipples, anymore than I do when looking at art.

but in italy we have an equal amount of male naked and attention to their details, in art, so of course i don’t think during italian renaissance male or female felt objectified because it was the norm to be, naked or not, painted or sculpted by somebody.
not only that but you see also attention to details that in this modern age would be considered pornography. they had censorship in their time of course but they had their way to fight it (example provided in the picture below).
you don’t see this in tyria, you see attention when it comes to female body or female robots in this case (they both have generous curves and the robots have also areolas), while the male have flat kitten and no bulge and no robot counterpart, they can be muscular of course but they are designed not to be male but to look like the kind of male other males would like to be with no attention to their butt or bulge (i suppose the bulge is the boob counterpart). you don’t see flat ladies in this game, but you see flat men.
that said i don’t have any problem seeing this robots or appreciating those as a art design intended to be beautiful, but i have some problem when i don’t see any male counterpart (not necessarily in these robots but elsewhere).

explanation of the picture:
this is the neptune statue in piazza nettuno in bologna. the architect that designed it had to make it with a small kitten because the church censored him, it was not intended to have a small kitten. this is how with prospective eye illusion the architect solved this problem.

i really can’t see those red rings… vision is already a nightmare in those domes, but red ring on brown ground are pure evil…

you should have known that colorblind could have problem with this, do you hate us? there are already thousands thread about it, i thought it was addressed already but no, you chose a brown ground in the dome…

i have a suggestion, don’t make red rings but full red bright circles (i guess asking for black rings or circle would be too much to ask since for some reason this is not done already despite the over mentioned threads).

don’t chose green, brown or orange or similar colors as ground (i’m not asking to remove grass from the game, but in those domes you could have used the same color you use in crucible of eternity, it is pretty dark and the red rings are easier to spot)

i never checked the AP of my party member before.
AP usually reflects the age more than the skills, i for example have done all the jumping puzzle, and i still am not good at them. i also run all the dungeon available in the game and i can still die there (even if i know what to do doesn’t mean i can explain to others that easily or that people understand what you say, most of the time people say, yeah clear sure and than they didn’t understand what to do).
also i have almost 9k AP but if i play my ele, or for that matter whatever class is not a mesmer or a ranger i look like i just started the game with a lv 80. that is because i started as a ranger and spent most of the time as a mesmer. using the other class for world bosses or random exploration doesn’t make you better at them.
that said AP also reflects in some way the knowledge you have of the game, how some events works, where some things are done etc etc. and can also reflects some skills, but not all of them… you know that you can do the weapon mastery with ambient creatures?

they create solo champions arena with one shot mechanics so you have no time to think about roles everywhere outside there

Can’t mesmers trait so they get speed boost per active clone? Every weapon set has clones available. Spam the skill and grab a speed boost. per clone, you should have quite a boost, no?

clones and phantasms skills need targets thanks to people cry in a corner in pvp e wvwvw.
so no you don’t have any speed boost out of combat and entering combat to have a speed boost is non sense.
also the focus speed boost last what 7 seconds? it doesn’t stack with any other speed boost. and according to me invest on rune of centaur for speed boost on heal and swiftness duration is just a waste.

i do feel a snail most of my time in game when i have to run from point A to point B, especially after playing one of those speed racers classes like the ele. only reason i don’t like ele is because you are not that fast when you are dead somewhere (i suck at ele)

i would love to see this kind of immunities in the game, it would promote different roles in a party and would make alternative roles (other than direct damage) a viable option.
i mean why you implement an elemental magic and not elemental resistance/buff from different elements in the game? water magic should be dangerous to fire elementals, while air magic should buff them etc etc.
same should be with conditions in general and direct damage.

edit: oh and in ascalon catacombs most of the time you fight graveling not ghosts… so

don’t get me wrong, it can be fun, but it is again another thing an asura did. i’m getting tired of asuras wreaking havoc in the world with miserable experiments that can do everything.
i’m already surprised as it is they are not considered a danger for the entire world and kept at bay by the other races

we can have 2 sigils when we wield 2 weapons and they work together… so why not on 2h weapons?

the books are focus i like, but the way the character wield it is very stupid, in fact i’m not using it

there was such a class in gw1 called monk, it was the dedicated healer, or he was able to prevent de damage before you got hit, and he could also smite enemies with holy power, but a dedicated healer in this game would contradict the principle of gw2, no trinity.
and actually there is no need for such a role with the gameplay we have now. everybody in a way or another is able to heal self and others. the problem is most player won’t care about healing others with their skills and much rather prefer to dps (and we all still survive).

also don’t forget that when you can shoot lasers from a greatsword they hardly go out of fashion. i mean even in star wars with all their technology, the finest military force of them all still used magic and swords

i wouldn’t apply condition on stealth since thief are no guardian with easy condition removal and it would be suicidal to have even more condition in pvp just for some second of stealth.
shortbow should be faster though because as it is is slow as a ranger long bow, but almost at melee range. it’s really good only for farming with zergs. but i don’t see other uses of it beside the combofields

we can wear in real life cultural clothes of other races and that doesn’t defeat the purpose of the dress at all

so as a matter of fact what we are seeing here is that when magic find will be removed players will ask to remove every other stat combination in the game that will not be power/precision/critical damage?

because at least their rage once was for magic find users… now they will rage at everything else?
i’m lucky i never met such players, but if this will be the result better get ready for no stat armor (which would be great for me)

on interrupt… now tell me how easy is interrupt something 5 times in a raw within 10 seconds so that the first stacks of confusion don’t deplete

no matter what, i still think that there are classes more suitable for berserker gear than other, and classes that would benefit more from some other stat combination.
according to me it’s not only a matter of damage or survivability…

i tryed to be at least the first in my guild, but i had such hard core competitors that it was driving me crazy. i went for all dailies for at least a week, sure my number increased but i was starting to hating certain aspects of the game that i really don’t enjoy that much.
same goes for all event achievement, even the long grindable one to the point i started complaining on this very forum about it.
now i do only the one i like and only the one that i’m actually able to do.
i’m struggling with the queen’s gauntlet due to visual and general noobness, but i’m not losing my sleep on it as i would have done some weeks ago.
i feel better now and i enjoy the game for what it is.
achievement collecting for me was really ruining my experience and destroying my temper

although i’ve seen many suggestion from suggestion forum that saw the light of day, example:

-removal of magic find from gear
-aoe loot
-activity in other cities rather than LA

-shortened cooldown on sword and popping illusions on dodge.
-3% less damage for each illusion, random condition on illusion kill, shortened cooldown on staff
-condition cleanse while healing, shortened cooldown on focus

i use staff, sword/focus mainly using berserker gear and celestial ascended on pve and dungeon, occasionally swap to rampager gear with rune of undead for more resistance and condition damage in certain fight and wvwvw (i swap sword for scepter in that case and maybe a torch). utility: nullfield, feedback, signet of inspiration. elite: timewarp

in pvp i go for
20/0/30/20/0
i don’t even remember what i have as first trait in domination (i think 20% more damage with mind wrack), but i traited the torch cooldown.
chaos line is same as before but since i shatter in pvp more often for confusion stacks or daze, i didn’t trait the random condition on killing clones but i could trait with prismatic understanding.
inspiration line same as befor but with scepter traited.
i use scepter/torch and staff of course.
carrion amulet and rune of dolyak, it takes ages to kill someone but i often don’t even need to dodge or kite. (utility blink, nullfield, decoy. elite: moa morph)

mmmh… rabid gear is nice, but rampager make you kinda hybrid between condition and power, with nice crit chance increased, i used to run carrion, rabid and rampager and at the end of the day, when i’m not using berserker gear and i want to go for some condition, rampager is really nice for me, i can have nice dps and nice condition damage (not the max cond dmg of course but still…). also since you have with rampager a nice crit chance, you might think at sigils for your weapons that activate on critical hits.

back in the day i tryed a confusion build for pve but i completely gave it up, there are some boss which really suffered from it, but most of the time i could see all my nice confusion stacks go to waste and it took ages to kill whatever. i use it now only in pvp with scepter+torch etc.

also the event fails easily because of the 3 enforcement to the balthazar temple, only one of them usually get started for the mission. all the participant should complete the 3 events before starting the assault on balthazar temple, that makes pact morale higher

it doesn’t sound so much better than before…

there wasn’t any ninja nerf to tokens they clearly said that the dungeon reward would have been account bound so people wouldn’t run cof hundreds times a day

as far as i remember berserkers or not we all have only 2 free dodge rolls and 1 self heal. after that that are classes skills or utility that add some more dodges. plus armors are heavy, medium and light. so there are many things to consider when we talk “optimal” some classes will be more suited in berserkers gear than other when it comes to survivability.

on the other hand if we all would go to do events in full berserkers gear and maybe stats, most event would fail due to lack of heal boons from other classes, tankier players that can resist longer while ressing downed players etc etc.

so optimal is diversity.

also, i swear there are people that never used different build than berserkers and they don’t even know that not every mob in the game can one shot you!

that is true, i really appreciated that nobody wanted to give up until we were over… and at the dwayna fight we were all very very tired but we just wanted to do it, i was really lucky to have that group of people!

they all seems good point, but if i must be honest they are all silly to me. especially when it comes to roleplay…
i really love having my gold account wide, i can pick trading post earning with every character now, i can buy things in the trading post with every character etc etc.
i still know where i stand wealth wise and i new how much gold i had around even before it was stored in the same wallet. i think you can still have the common sense to not buy silly things you don’t need even if you have enough gold to do it.
the gold you earn is your to use (and it is till you the player that earn it, the character alone couldn’t do it, could he?), i don’t really get how can be an issue if you earn it with another alt for some other alt. if you really need that difference that badly you can still decide a budget for all your alt based on your own preferences.

for me the wallet as it is now is the best thing that could ever happen in the game.

arah path 4 in my miserable experience should give 100g per run… 7 hours to complete it (yes we were all first timer, but it’s still stupid to come up with a dungeon that if you do for the first time could take 7 hours)

they do care, it’s since a long time that we address the issue of red circles on the ground, they changed over time, in the beginning they were just flat circles that we couldn’t see at all, than they became brighter and kinda 3d. that solved the problem for me.
even though with the last patch i not only don’t see red circles on the ground anymore, but i don’t see effects, mobs and players at all.

i hope one day they’ll just do it black!

i would see a problem with this if i wanted to gear all my character with celestial armors, but:
- ascended armor are on their way (so probably celestial exotic will be outdated by than)
- celestial armor are good for some builds and useless for some other
- ascended trinkets can be purchased in many ways not necessarily time gated and alt unfriendly (also, ascended stats are just +2 better than exotic, very underpowered, so if don’t think to use an alt for fractals i won’t bother give them all of the existing gears, they can have the millions rings i find here and there).
- colors, do you really use them all in all of your toons? is really needed to have all of them in all the alts you have?
- account bound legendaries, i’m too lazy to unequip my legendary, stick it in the bank, changing alt, search a bank, equip it in my other alt, play, unequip, stick in bank, changing alt, search a bank, equip it, play… so i don’t have an issue with that.

as far as i can tell, this game is very alt friendly to me since there are so many account bound rewards. i could die if i had to do everything with the alt that i want to gear up, instead, i can play every alt i like and give them the rewards.
the real problem is the time gating quarts, but that is a problem even if you have only one alt and it is another issue altogether

yeah definitely weather and events weather related is a thing i would love to see.
i really never notice when it’s night in the game.
they gave us a torch for this new update and only a jp to use it in…

i think they gave up capes when they decided to make charrs a playable race. the charrs is the main problem with capes because of clipping issue.

the incredibles the movie explained very well why cape are not practical at all^^

i met some pretty terrifying warriors in pvp arenas.
that said, you’ll get used to how movement works here, and when you dodge you’ll learn to pay attention not to step inside another AoE, it’s kinda the tricky part of dodging, you just don’t dodge randomly in this game, it is a very important feature.

as the click to move, i’m glad it’s not there i hated it in gw1.

i don’t know what you did with the graphic, but now the explosions in the last ramps in the colossus fractals are completely invisible in my screen.

i don’t know what kind of option i have to enable to see them, but i never had issue before patch.

also, i’m experiencing more culling than ever, but i can cope with that when it comes to players and mobs, but most of the times red rings in the ground won’t appear in my screen most of the times and sometimes i die and i don’t even know what hit me.

i… well…
i don’t see things due to culling… and some attack animation from bosses on the gauntlet appear after i’ve been downed…
so i guess my graphic is worse now…

they should go in, or in collectibles…

also, there are conditions cleansing skills, tons of them, even aoe
